Description

Image

Name: Diamond Royal
Age: 23
Personality: Confident and sure of himself, but humble and smart enough to keep himself and his pokemon safe. Relatively easy going, but dedicated to practicing his Aura and training his pokemon to their fullest potential.

Description: For clothing, he wears Aura-infused and enhancing fabric suitable for travelling. Comfortable and supportive boots, loose pants held up by a Belt, an Aura Gem in the buckle, a simple shirt, and a hooded cloak. If he's in a more tropical region, he wears shorts as well, and loses the cloak, and wears running shoes rather than his boots. He also normally wears a simple but stylish pair of sunglasses, and a pair of finger-less gloves with Aura-Gems in the back of the hands to help him focus his Aura.

Under the clothing he is of fair complexion and light skin, with a slender but strong build. He has black hair and vibrant blue eyes

History: Diamond Royal was trained as an Aura User at a young age, and when he learned enough to be able to understand telepathy, he was gifted his very own Riolu in the form of an egg, forming an unshakable bond with the Riolu as soon as she hatched, and raising and growing along side her for the years to come. Now in his early-twenties, Riolu had since evolved into a strong Lucario capable of mega-evolution. Their bond as partners is extremely close, caring about each other more than themselves, and often times putting themselves in harms way to protect the other.

Aura: His skill in Aura is almost comparable to a juvenile Lucario, able to manifest it around his body to protect himself, or enhance his body's movements and strength, and even to attack if necessary. With it, he can communicate with his pokemon seamlessly, and with permission, the pokemon of other trainers to an extent. His Lucario's skill in Aura is likewise extremely strong, and she is able to use telepathy to communicate with anyone she wishes.

Due to his training and dedication to Aura, even as a human, Diamond is able to use some pokemon-like moves, or at least their human equivalents. The moves he can use are Detect, Aura Sphere, Vacuum Wave, Force Palm, Focus Blast, Drain Punch, and Focus Punch.

Pokemon: Lucario, or Lucy, as Diamond has taken to calling her, is taller than other Lucario, standing at five feet in height compared to Diamond's own 5'8. She has a serious personality, and is very protective of Diamond, seeing him more as a partner, or possibly even mate that she desires to keep safe with her life. These feelings are reciprocated by Diamond, and the two have a very trusting relationship. Occasionally she can be caught flirting with Diamond, or teasing him. Her fur is likewise not normal - the usual blue is a Deep Forest Green. The Aura she and Diamond use is still a rich and vibrant blue.

Diamond has since also found and raised a Charizard and Torterra from infancy to adulthood, and both pokemon are now very strong. While Charizard is capable of mega-evolution, Diamond has not found a Charizardite Y in order to do so. Despite having a pokeball for his Lucario, she is never inside it, preferring to stay at her partner's side personally during their travels. Most of their travels are done on the back of his Torterra, who is more than happy to carry them on his back. When needing to get somewhere close, they ride on the back of Diamond's Charizard, who thanks to his raising, grew larger than normal.

Each of Diamond's pokemon have been super-trained in different attributes. Lucario was trained in speed, attack, and special attack, making her one hell of a glass-cannon that is difficult to catch or see coming due to her speed. Charizard has been trained purely in speed and special attack, making him likewise blindingly fast as well as powerful with his non-physical attacks. Torterra serves as Diamond's wall, and thus is trained in Defense and Special Defense, as well as being granted a larger health-pool and ability to take punishment.

Move-Wise, Lucario knows Bone Rush, Aura Sphere, Close Combat, Extreme Speed, and Double Team. Meanwhile, Charizard knows Flame-Thrower, Flare-Blitz, Dragon-Rage, Fire-Spin, and Fly. Additionally, Torterra knows Giga-Drain, Earthquake, Energy Ball, Frenzy Plant, and Seed Bomb. Level-Wise, Lucario would be 100, while Charizard and Torterra are 75.

So begins...

Diamond's eyes widened and he stood in disbelief as his Focus Blast was cancelled out. For a moment it looked like he was just going to stand there and be obliterated. But it would be the screaming of his name from Lucy that snapped him out of it.

"Lucy! Forget the Double Team! Bone Rush boost me!" He held a palm back, read to strike, energy gathering in it at an alarming rate as his Aura radiated off of him, and he darted for his Lucario. Complying, Lucy dissipated her copies and made a staff of Bone appear in her paws again, held in a way to make a ramp for Diamond.

As soon as his foot hit the staff, Lucy roared and launched her partner at Melaine, before moving to a supplemntary postion to launch her own attack towards the Shadow Pokemon in cooperation with Diamond.

"Take this!" Diamond yelled, a maximum power Focus Palm burning in his hand as he rushed Melaine, aiming to slam the move down upon her head, and by extention, send her cascading towards the floor. Where, if all went well, Lucy would be waiting to assault with a point blank Aura Sphere likewise to the face.

The scientist looked at the blade for a moment before turning his back to Radegast. After seemingly contemplating for a moment, he turned to face Radegast again and shook his head.

...

The scientist proceeded to walk around Radegast and left him be, leaving the pathway to the Experiment Rooms and the R&D Labs open.

Proceeding into the hallway that served as a hub for the R&D Labs, there were several doors labeled from 14 all the way to 26. All of the rooms were unlocked, as per the alarm from earlier, and most were entirely abandoned, with the appearance of work having been ceased almost without notice. Each room had individual cabinets and tables, as well as a lot of super impressive and advanced equipment that Radegast wouldn't be able to comprehend by any means.

Room 14 was an empty and sterile room. Only a single examination table was inside, along with a single cabinet, and both were spotless. The cabinets held lots of documents that were filled with scientific text that meant little to Radegast's motives. Most of the text was uniform and had been made by a machine, but some documents had scribbled handwriting in a glittery, pink ink, as well as some scribbled commentary in a more standard blue ink.

It is so a vital resource, so we can't, like, sit around all day. If the genetic material dies, then we're in trouble.

Rooms 15, 16, and 17, were all the same as Room 14, with only minor aesthetic differences, and slightly different document topics mostly concerning genetic splicing and Ditto's functions within Pokemon society as a whole.

In Room 18, there were two large tubes filled with a purple liquid, tinted with blue and black in its murky composition. Attached to these containers was a nozzle and a tube that seemed to be connected to a face mask of some kind. The rest of the advanced looking equipment in the room was all facilitated and designed to restrain things, likely for the process of applying the liquid in what seemed to be a fume based form. It was in here that documents concerning testing of "removing the emotions of a Pokemon in full to unlock its true potential". Most of the logged notes typed and written detailed meticulous resulting observations and a lot of theoretical equations and on-paper designs.

Rooms 19, 20, and 21 were all designed around being caged in depressions that were designed almost as monitoring pens for some purpose. All relevant documentation focused on analysis and observations of what was called "Shadow Pokemon".

Rooms 22 through 26 were inaccessible as the part of the hallway leading to the doors themselves were disabled and damaged by what seems to have been a prior event.

At the end of one hallway, a door labeled "EAST TUBE HALL (PRESERVATION CHAMBER 2)" was unlocked, though a perturbed Druddigon acting very out of sorts seemed to be causing a ruckus right outside the door, angrily bashing itself against the walls. It seemed to be responsible for the damaged door that blocked access to Rooms 22 through 26. It was definitely enraged; if Radegast or Reggie could sense auras, the Druddigon's aura was a dark aura of a deep purple, blue, and black that flared constantly at semi-regular intervals, almost as if the Pokemon was trying to fight back the effect.

--

The dimensions in the room returned to normal, an effect that both James and Touko would see. Janice took note of the airborne Unfezant and the Luxray. Would Swampert go first? Despite it looking like it was hurting somewhat, she took the chance.

Alright, Swampert, Earthquake!

The Swampert raised its arms and brought them down on the floor with immense power, shaking the entire room in an effort to down the Luxray (though the Luxray would likely survive such an attack). If this didn't take down Luxray, there was a good chance Swampert would be downed after their attacks.

Diamond's Force Palm connected with Melaine, the force of it successfully shoving her back into Lucy's Aura Sphere, both of which created a large explosion, and generated a lot of smoke in the aftermath. However, with a swift swing of her sword, Melaine cleared the smoke, revealing herself to be unharmed.

Raising her free hand to her side, she aimed it at the Electivire trapped in the cage. She gave its Trainer a smug grin as the arrogant young man looked back with his fists clenched, furious, but unable to do anything. Then, she closed her hand as the cage compressed around the Electivire, steadily crushing it within the crystal prison it was in. As the Trainer called out to his Pokemon, the Electivire let out one last yell of pain before a large purple implosion occurred where the cage was. As the smoke cleared, a knocked out Electivire was returned to its Poke Ball by its defeated Trainer.

Turning to face the girl and her Musharna, Melaine swiftly advanced on the now sleeping Pokemon before delivering a severe slash with the blade for another KO.

As the television footage showed the action, dramatic camera angles made it clear to the audience who was involved in each action and engagement, and though it seemed to be a back and forth at times, it soon boiled down to one Trainer and his team still standing against Melaine herself. Through the constant action, even though she was heavily outnumbered and outgunned, Melaine still looked completely unharmed and full of energy, even though the four Trainers James had come with were all out of Pokemon to continue fighting with, and allowed to retreat as such.

Soon, it was just Diamond, Lucy, the rest of his team, and Melaine. Keeping her sword at her side, Melaine spoke.

You impress me more and more, Human. Perhaps not all Trainers of the old ways are in error. However, I will not let you stop the new world I shall create. Have you any final words before I end this here and now?

Diamond panted, landing hard on the ground after hitting Melaine. He gripped his hand into a fist, and grit his teeth. Even that did nothing to her? He reached into his pocket, and slipped on a glove. His part of the mega stone was in the back side of the glove, and he gripped his hand tightly onto a fist.

"Lucy!" He roared. "Full power. Mega evolution!" He cried, activating the mega stone and her Lucarionite, and causing her to begin to glow vibrantly. Soon she was enveloped in a ball of light before emerging as a gloriously beautiful mega-lucario, aura blazing around her.

Diamond didn't try to waste time with any sort of heroic speech, he knew at this point that he had a very slim chance of winning against Melaine..... but still he had to try, right? He couldnt accept her as a leader, and knew she had to be brought down. But he also knew that if Lucy wasn't able to do damage in her mega form, the world may as well be done for. At least... as far as he knew.

But he was tired, and it showed. He had maybe one attack left in his body, and he'd have to call it quits. Lucy was still ready for an entire battle, though. He'd have to rely on her.

"Lucy...extreme speed." He commanded. She nodded, and took a single step forward before vanishing from sight with her speed, aiming to slam into Melaine multiple times. While Lucy began her assault, beginning to act on her own for the most part now. After Extreme speed, she'd aim to follow up with a Bone Rush until the staff of bone Broke, and then follow up with Close Combat. Lucy was going absolutely all out, trying her utmost to do even a single bit of damage. While Lucy did her work, Diamond prayed to Arceus she'd be alright, and then began to once more build up a focus blast.

If this didn't work, he didnt know if anything would.

Seeing the Mega Evolved Lucy, Melaine giggled.
Charming! This might be interesting!

Melaine prepared herself as Lucy charged in with an Extreme Speed, swiftly maneuvering her blade to parry the attacks as she attempted to use counterattacks of her own. The attacks that did connect seemed to be nullified by the same barrier Diamond saw earlier. With several sweeps of her blade that whiffed against Lucy's rapid pace, Melaine spun to bring her sword up against the club Lucy drew forth following her display of speed. Most of the swings were parried by Melaine's blade, though it was clear that Melaine was still being affected by the attacks that did go through; they seemed to pierce the barrier that was preventing other attacks from actively harming her. Melaine never flinched as these attacks hit her, and she seemed entirely unfazed by each blow, despite the damage they were doing, however slight.

When she finished weathering the Bone Club attacks, she tried to create space. However, Lucy's following Close Combat barrage came next, and Melaine once more went on the defensive. This time, the barrier was responding to the Close Combat attacks, nullifying each one. Melaine took the opportunity to begin charging an attack of her own, completely unaffected by the further Close Combat attacks. She didn't notice Diamond charging his Focus Blast. Blasting Lucy away once more with an explosion of shadowy energy she had charged, she paused to speak.

An actual challenge? I suppose I can grace you with my actual power then. Trainers. We shall do this battle proper. A Ferrum battle the way they do it in Ferrum. I'll take each of you one on one.

Noticing the state of Diamond and Lucy, the Electivire's Trainer ran forward, having taken Diamond's time battling to heal Electivire back up.
Hey, Diamond! Let us help out! Fall back and recharge! We'll handle her from here!

Standing before Melaine, the Trainer activated his Battle AR.
Electivire, let's do this! Marissa will be our Advisor, and Dugtrio and Lickitung have your back!

Electivire was unfazed by its earlier defeat, punching its fists together arrogantly, cracking its neck as it readied to fight. Melaine couldn't help but laugh.
O~hoho-hoho~! Very well. You'll make fine sport. Come, Marjolaine!

As Melaine adjusted her Battle AR, the arena itself they were in changed itself slightly. The only real indication something was different was that a new girl that had entered the battlefield. She seemed normal enough, though the purple eyes held a slightly sinister intention. She wasn't completely normal. Diamond and Lucy would be able to see a shadowy aura flare around her as it resonated with Melaine's own. The two were in sync as well it seemed.

Crown-Princess, as you are your own Battle Trainer, I shall assist you wholeheartedly as your Advisor. You have Bronzong and Watchog for assistance; they are on stand-by.

She equipped her own Battle AR and smiled quite confidently, and with smugness, consulting a book she carried with her for some unknown purpose. Melaine took to assuming a battle stance as the Electivire did the same. Once more, the Trainer on the sidelines called out the rules.

This will be a classic Ferrum battle held across three rounds. The side that knocks out their opponent first wins a round. The first side to win two rounds wins the duel!

As the TV commentators and coverage swapped to follow the new developments, all eyes were on the battle about to unfold. Diamond and Lucy would get a rare chance to rest, and a front row seat to this new style of battle, foreign to them prior. The Electivire and his Trainer seemed excited to try this new form of battle, and seeing Diamond's earlier performance with Lucy seemed to pump them up.

In the end, Diamond never got to release his Focus Blast. Just as Melaine blasted Lucy away with her attack, Diamond's body gave out, and his Focus Blast faded from view as he dropped to a knee and grabbed at his face. His vision blurred, and he became light-headed, panting softly. He coughed hard and struggled to get onto his feet and keep Lucy in the Fight and rather under control, but it was proving to be of little help. His Aura was fading, and so too was consciousness.

After landing, Lucy, sensing her Partner's fading Aura, rushed to his side, kneeling and reaching to help him, only for him to collapse fully onto the ground, his Aura fading from his exhaustion. "Diamond! Diamond, please!" she growled, shaking him, trying to get him to wake up. When her attempts failed, she clenched her paws into tight fists as she gave in to the mercilessness that normally came with a Lucario's mega-evolution, and turned towards Melaine.

Disregarding the commentators and referee's words, Lucy's aura went wild, and once more she ignited a Staff of Bone between her paws in a Bone-Rush, which she'd then rush Lucy with yet again with even more fervor and strength than before, roaring as she leaped to do her first strike over the top of the Shadow-Pokemon's head. Again and again and again Lucy would strike with Bone Rush, knowing it was the only thing that was effective against Melaine that she had in her arsenal of moves. Her attacks became more and more feverish as time went on, attempting to do as much damage as physically possible. She did her best to keep Melaine from using any attacks of her own, not giving her an inch to play with as she kept up the onslaught.

Melaine summoned several spikes of shadowy energy to skewer Electivire, ending the battle before it started. At this moment, she noticed the fallen Diamond. Before she could taunt, however, Lucy was charging in. Immediately, as the refereeing Trainer was calling out the winner and loser, Melaine switched to a defensive battle stance as she began parrying and dodging the various reckless and inaccurate swings of the bone. No matter Lucy's efforts, Melaine was barely hit by any of the swings and continued to block and parry as she looked for an opening to strike back.

Openings were everywhere in Lucy's wild flurry of attacks, but at the same time she was moving so quickly that they were difficult to exploit. If one looked closely, they'd notice a slight build up of tears in Lucy's eyes as she attacked mercilessly. Her aura flared around her, blazing brilliantly with her fury.

But it wouldnt be long before, whether from exhaustion of the move or a skillful block by Melaine, the staff of Bone broke. Lucy turned, launching a massive kick towards the Diance's stomach, aiming to follow up with a savage Close Combat. The final strike aimed to force Melaine as far away as possible while Lucy landed, breathing hard. She hopped back, anticipating a counter attack, only to land beside Diamond, her Master, and drop to a knee, panting hard. Her Aura flickered, and vanished. It wouldn't take a degree in pokemon medicine or similar to tell that her actions had exhausted her to a point she'd never been to before.

She shook as her musles fought against their commands, not wanting to stand. Not wanting to form any kind of defense. With a savage growl, Lucy managed to force herself to her feet, and stood in front of Diamond, glaring as defiantly as she could at Melaine.

As Melaine parried more blows, she took note of the bone breaking apart and smiled.

Now, witness my true power!

Immediately, Melaine began charging energy as a shadowy aura enveloped her. As Lucy tried to kick her, she'd find that her attack was ineffective against Melaine; a barrier glimmered when struck, revealing itself to Lucy. This same barrier glimmered as the Close Combat attack occurred, with each blow unable to strike Melaine, though the blows did push her back marginally so.

Once Lucy backed off, Melaine covered her mouth with one of her hands in a classic pose, letting out a piercing and pompous laugh that reverberated with powerful echoes.
O~hoho-hoho~!

At this moment, a powerful shockwave of energy emitted from her in all directions, knocking out the remaining Pokemon owned by the other Trainers as well as the Trainers themselves, with Marissa and the Electivire's trainer both being blown into a crystalline structure in the arena. The other two Trainers and their Pokemon were also sent flying into the arena walls. The Trainers barely seemed conscious as they recalled their Pokemon and tried to prop themselves against whatever structure they had found themselves beside.

The new girl who had equipped a Battle AR seemed unaffected by the shockwave, though her dress was billowing quite profusely as the wind and shockwave rushed past her. She did smile and noted the charge her display showed.

As the dust and smoke cleared, Melaine hovered in place. Slowly but surely, Melaine would float toward Lucy. She used PokeSpeak in clear and concise form as she addressed the Lucario.

How pitiful. To showcase how the old ways promoted weakness; it seems that is your purpose. You stay with a Trainer who submits to a system of rule that is outdated, and your potential is hurt by it. You could be so much stronger and so much more, but no. Here you lay with a Human, no doubt in more ways than one, and it disgusts me. In more ways than one. Well, look at what that has gotten you? Now he is hurting, and you can't do anything. Weakness! Your ties to the old ways have made you soft as they have every other Pokemon and Trainer in this world! Now, let the public see in full! Weakness such as yours shall have no place! We will unify and advance into the future all the stronger! Let me begin first...WITH YOUR PRECIOUS TRAINER!

With a dark giggle, Melaine stopped before Lucy and raised a hand to swat the Lucario aside with her palm. The strike was fierce and had a lot of power in it for such a small slap. With Lucy hopefully out of the way, Melaine advanced on Diamond, looking down at him.

The old you dies now. From it, a new shall rise. A new that embraces all the potential contained; a new that the old cannot deny!

Melaine picked up Diamond's body and held it before her with Telekinesis as she created a sword of shadow energy in one hand; a short sword that seemed designed for stabbing. Lifting it before her, she turned the point toward Diamond, as if to stab the sword into his torso.

Thus begins your new life; one of strength and progression! One that lives into the future the way life should!

As she brought the blade into Diamond's torso, a phantom wound was created, though it felt much like the real thing. The blade did not damage Diamond, though, creating instead a searing pain that began to quickly spread throughout his body as a slimy, squirming feeling moved within his very being. Eventually, as Melaine's hand reached his chest, a final push of energy buried the blade inside of him as the shadowy energy dispersed across his entire being, enveloping him.

From Diamond's perspective, he could only begin a mental struggle to resist the corruption that was nagging away, trying to shut down his capacity for emotional connection and close the door to his heart. A cold and bitter world just inches away from consuming him. When he allowed it any ground, it began breeding the desire to serve and follow Melaine; unfeeling beyond the need to be strong and showcase it. It was a dark mindset that severed the old and embraced the new.

As Melaine tossed Diamond back onto the ground to writhe and fight against the corruption himself, she turned to face Lucy.

Now, to deal with you. Soon, you will join him in realizing your true power, and your place in the future of this world! O~hoho-hoho~!

But as Queen Melaine remained poised to strike, a small glimmer would catch the top left corner of her eyes. The glimmer grew brighter and brighter very rapidly and by the time she could glance that way to see what it was, it was already upon her. A burning ball of fire crossed in front of her...an inch in front of her face.

The ball of fire continued on it's path, smashing into the ground and rolling forward, carried onward by it's own momentum. As it rolled on the ground, it slowed down, leaving a trail of fire behind. Eventually it stopped, the ball of fire diminishing to a small flame on the rear end of something...something with a chimp-like shape. Orange fur covered it's back as it stood from the remnants of the Flame Wheel it had just conjured. It paused for a moment, as if taking a breath of preparation, before turning around and facing the Diancie.

He wasn't too intimidating on a surface level. He was small, standing at about a third of Queen Melaine's size with none of the extra adornments she carried. As to be expected, the fur on his back matched that of his front with exception to the cream-colored patches across his belly, hands, feet, and face. His ears were abnormally large and the top of his head was a swirl of fur. But it was the eyes, a crystal blue that pierced as it seemed to stare through her, that was slightly unnerving. Calm, but not dismissive. Intense, but not aggravated. Confident, but without hubris. He wasn't smiling, nor was he frowning. He seemed to be...studying. Studying her. Studying the others in the arena. Studying the arena itself. Studying everything.

And he started to move, walking with a calm step. As he did, he took his gaze of the Queen and stared at Lucy. Now a soft smile crossed his face.

"Thanks for weakening her," he acknowledged, expressing his gratitude, "You and your friend fought hard. I can take her from here. But right now...you need to leave." He motioned towards the writhing teen, "I know you'll want to save him, but that's not going to be possible right now. You need to be safe and you need to rest. You may be the only one who can bring him back around, and you'll need to be stronger to do it. At the very least, not hanging over the edge of unconsciousness. Trust me...you'll get your friend back soon enough." He gave her a wink, as if telling her there was more to the statement than the words implied.

By the time he was done, he was already standing in front of the Lucario, in between her and the Diancie. Now he turned around, staring at Queen Melaine again. This time, it was the same kind of stare he had given Lucy...soft and mild. The smile never left his face as he stepped forward.

"Hey there, Melaine," he greeted, "I don't think we've met before. I'm Crimson."

Melaine leveled a gaze at the small Chimp Pokemon.

Crimson... That is a nickname! Yet I see no Trainer. Quite the mystery, this unevolved Chimchar is.

We have not, Crimson, though you appear to know me already. I must admit, that is impressive; Pokemon of your status typically do not concern themselves with such advanced thoughts.

While she spoke, the reporters in the stands tried to fix their cameras. The precursor energy charging Melaine had done had short-circuited all the cameras and broke them. Melaine paid them no mind, especially as the new girl walked forward, bowing to Melaine.

Crown-Princess. It seems the media members you invited are having trouble with their equipment. Shall I order repairs?

Negative. That all of this was not recorded was perfect. My order will be, however, that you see fit to ensure those media peasants who bore witness here in attendance remember nothing past the destruction of their equipment.

As you command.

The Trainer bowed once more and turned to release a Hypno and a Beheeyem. The two seemed unusual and didn't look quite normal. Their posture and expression were far more hostile, and they immediately turned to face the Trainer, though they did not express any form of reaction or indication of acknowledgment. As the Trainer gave them, and the other Trainers under Melaine's command, orders to move on Melaine's task, Melaine returned her attention to Crimson.

Now then, I am quite certain you didn't come here just to say hello! You stand before the 1st Crown-Princess of the New Ruulan Empire, Melaine Diancie! Your words and actions as of this moment forth will set the standard of our conversation to come!

The posture she assumed was quite magnanimous, but also underlined with all kinds of insulting undertones oozing from it. It was clear she was exerting a Pressure of some kind as the flashing lights raining from the sky intensified briefly, and that the display was intended as a warning. She was currently unarmed.

Simultaneously, the other Trainers (bar Diamond and his Pokemon) who had come to the island found themselves being restrained by the other Trainers and Pokemon under Melaine's command. Then the media members were next; their number quickly being surrounded and restrained as well. The Trainer Melaine apparently placed in charge was quite quick with her Hypno and Beheeyem in carrying out her mind modifications.

Melaine was keeping her cold and bitter gaze fixed squarely on Crimson. The overwhelming malice and hatred he could feel in her gaze were barely held back by her regal bearing and her own calculating ambition. She was awaiting a response, but it was clear that even a small misstep could be dangerous.

Lucy glared at Melaine as she approached, yelping at the smack, sending her flying to the side with a cry. She stares through pained, squinted eyes, tries to crawl to stop what was about to happen. "N-no... Diamond.... S-stop, please...." she squeaked out towards Melaine. She returned to her normal evolution in a flash of light. Her body convulsed and she coughed a few times, blood landing on the ground.

"Diamond!!!" she screamed out, watching him be implaed by a blade of shadow. Tears filled her eyes and she gasped. She felt an emptiness now. Her connection to Diamond was there, but his to hers was not.

Diamond was too weak to struggle, but he did manage half-concious glare at the Diance lifting him up. His entire body tensed up as he was pierced. Consciousness flooded back to him, and his eyes snapped open in pain. He grabbed onto her wrist and tried to stop her from sliding the sword in deeper. He was surprisingly strong for a mere human, but then, Adrenaline did wondrous things for humans. But alas it wasn't enough, and her hilt met his chest.

Hitting the ground, his body writhed and convulsed as he fought with every bit of his being to keep himself normal. It wouldnt be long before blood-curdling screams burst from his throat in pain and fear. It doesn't take long. Maybe only thirty seconds before the writhing stops, and he lays still. The Aura around him is now cold and heartless.

He rolls onto his back, and stares up at the ceiling. Lucy crawls over to him, nudging his shoulder. "Diamond. Please tell me you're alright!" she begged. He nudged her paw away.

"I am fine. You are weak, and need to rest." he replied coldly. Lucy's breath hitched in her throat at his tone. This wasnt the Diamond she knew. This wasnt the shy boy she grew up with. This was... something else.

He stood, and looked himself over, then brought his heartless eyes to Melaine. She was still his greatest obstacle. But now? It was for power that she stood in the way. He could change that. He could overthrow her and claim the throne for himself. He would gain enormous power in doing so. But to get to that point?

His expression was neutral, but he turned to fully face Melaine, and then knelt before her. Pledging his allegiance to her in doing so. Lucy remained on the ground, unable to stand on her own. Her trust of Diamind was still intact, so, while she hesitated for a few seconds, she swallowed hard, and bowed her head in submission as well.

What a twist.

Crimson's grin grew slightly wider and he looked away from the Diancie as if he was sheepish. Her passive-aggressive comment filled through the air like an announcement, but he took it in stride. He had heard many similar comments before.

"Well, I do tend to be the odd one out," he explained, "Kinda like you. It's not too hard to find someone who leaves such a massive...uh, footprint...everywhere she goes. And you were on the TV anyway. So I think everyone knows who you are and what you're about."

As he pointed towards the cameras, he took note of the actions her henchmen were taking, grabbing hold of every spectator in the area and wiping their mind of the events to follow. He had to ponder the queen's choices here. She had made herself public on every news facet in Ruula, grabbing the eye of anyone who wanted to know what was going on and captivating her crowd with her fearsome power. She wanted her name to spread like wildfire throughout the world. She wanted fear. So why was she wiping the minds of these onlookers? And why was she doing it now? Did she perhaps see him as a threat to her position of power?

He dismissed the idea in his mind. It was fine. It was as much an advantage for him as it was for her.

At the same time, he noticed the fallen human...the Lucario's companion. He had gotten up on his own accord, no longer writhing nor screaming. His face was deadpan and stoic. His eyes were enshrouded in malice and cruelty. And he bowed to her presence, pledging his allegiance with her. What did intrigue him was the Lucario's actions immediately following, taking up his side and standing by him, even though the morality within her was screaming not to. As much as his heart sank by this action, he did understand why she had done it. He could sense the anguish in her eyes, the tears of frustration she was fighting to hold back. The bond between a human and a Pokemon was extremely strong, after all.

Just please don't allow yourself to be corrupted by this shadow energy...he thought in his head as the Diancie asked him what he was doing here capped off with a carefully worded threat to punctuate her sentence.

"So then, let's not step off on the wrong foot," he calmly said, "I am here to talk about a few things, mainly. I'd prefer not to fight, seeing what you've done and what you could do. However, I am also aware that this whole shindig is an invitation to combat, and if you'd wish nothing more than to showcase your power against me...I guess I can hold my own for a little bit. Maybe give you a better fight than you've had previously. But then again, it seems like you're already packing things up, ready to move on to the next step in building your Ruulan Empire. So I leave it up to you, Melaine."

He stood there and stared right into the eyes of pure malice, an energetic vibrancy dancing around in his eyes. The orange-yellow glow from the flame behind him contrasted against the purple flashing lights falling around them, giving him his own air...his own courage.

"Do you wish to talk, or do you wish to fight?"

Melaine did not change her tone or posture as she responded to Crimson.

O~hoho-hoho~! As I stated once, "Your words and actions as of this moment forth will set the standard of our conversation to come." Talking is inherent in this understanding. I permit you to speak your piece, Crimson, and shall deign to choose thus to talk. However, as I wish to honor and respect your boldness before me, your clear superior, we shall hold our discussion in a more proper environment. A damaged arena is ill-fitting for non-combat, is it not?

Turning to face Diamond, she continued her speech to Crimson.
To you, Crimson, I shall speak with to your liking in two days. No more; no less. Bring whomever you wish to bring with you for such a discussion, for they shall all be welcome. I know you have plenty of friends who work alongside you, and I will not do them any disservice that I would not visit upon you first. Use the two days to prepare accordingly; return then to this castle where we shall parley. Now begone!

Turning away from Crimson, Melaine extended a hand toward Diamond, speaking more words with her attention now on the corrupted Trainer.
As expected... I receive your display with full acknowledgment. To be in service to the New Ruulan Empire, you are hereby recognized, Diamond Royal! Serve with all your might to advance the goals of the New Ruulan Empire, and to unite all regions under the name of the 1st Crown-Princess, Melaine Diancie!

She then levied a smug and cruel grin toward Lucy. She switched back to PokeSpeak, making it clear she was addressing the Lucario.
{ Insubordination of any kind will be punished accordingly. Do not disappoint me. } O~hoho-hoho~!

Following her speeches, she turned to the adviser from before.
Aerys. I leave the cleanup of the arena to you. Once all parties have been attended to, please escort them off the island, then report to the throne room. I must discuss our next steps, and prepare us for a discussion with that curious Chimp.

The adviser girl bowed.
It shall be done as you request, Crown-Princess. Shall I inform the others of the meeting at the throne room as well?

No. I shall have Lady Chandela inform them and assemble them. You focus on your work here. I am entrusting a great deal to you. Make sure Diamond Royal is also assimilated into the ranks appropriately and that the Lucario will not be troublesome.

Crown-Princess.
Aerys lifted her head from her bow and returned to her usual overseeing posture.

--

Melaine took her leave of the arena, returning to a small chamber somewhere within the castle. As she gazed upon an assortment of various lockboxes and other chests, she grinned, confident in her next actions.

So, using the media to spread a positive image is too tiresome. I cannot keep the facade up for long. I must set a path for us to achieve the goals I have set. Those who would side with us shall be fairly treated...and those who resist shall be treated fairly. That would be a good starting point. Yes, I shall begin the organization of all here and now, and ensure my power will be uncontested to all. Everyone will unite under the banner of the New Ruulan Empire! O~hoho-hoho~!

The weather around the island intensified, and the seas surrounding the island became supremely disturbed, with large crashing waves and rough waters. The flashing lights increased in frequency and intensity as they rained down. The castle itself seemed to only reinforce its structure in the weather, the shadowy crystals forming its entire design shifting to accommodate its growth. The castle rose to truly be something one of a kind, almost becoming its own location.

--

Inside the throne room, Melaine would hover in the spot designated for her. She had had a "throne" of sorts produced for herself, a fanciful and tasteful frame of dark that highlighted her as she hovered in place. Before her, several Trainers and Pokemon were bowing. To her left side, her adviser stood alongside a hovering, ghostly, grass spirit-like creature. To the right side hovered a small crustacean-like creature with electrical sparks running through its pinkish body, with a pair of antennae that lit up at the ends; itself alongside a handsome young man dressed impeccably well.

Melaine began.

To my loyal subjects. Today is the day we begin the first steps to establishing the unification of all regions under the New Ruulan Empire! We shall present ourselves to the world as a power to contest the hated and backward "UPL"! Any who would side with us shall be fairly treated...and those who resist shall be treated fairly! Let us make our move!

As the groups in attendance gave cheers of approval, Melaine smiled as a flash of shadowy lightning cracked, thunder rolling through the area.

O~hoho-hoho~! O~hoho-hoho~hoho~! O~hoho-hoho-hoho~hoho-hoho~! O~hoho~hoho-hoho~!

Crimson waited as the Diancie rattled on, using her words to distinguish herself as the upper echelon. He had to stop himself from rolling his eyes when the words "your clear superior" escaped her lips. Not even Neeko had been so narcissistic. But he understood her motives, for the most part, and he understood why she carried herself in this sort of light. It did remain to be seen whether it was her own ego that was talking...or the shadowy energy possessing it.

Regardless, he got the information he needed. Two days. Parley. Meet up at the castle. He was hoping to talk to her here and now, but it seemed like she had other matters to attend to, so that wasn't going to be possible. The Chimchar considered pressing her to try and speak now, but before he could act on the notion, she was already turning around and leaving. The adviser was walking towards him to escort him and everyone else that had shown up off the island, presumably to Castelia. He held up his hand to halt her.

"I know where the door is. Thank you," he politely declined and started walking that way. He stopped when he reached Lucy and muttered to her, intelligible for everyone else's ears but her own.

"I know it looks bad, but you've got a good position on the inside. Just do what they tell you and try not to get corrupted. I've got a plan and it's going to work. Just hang on until I can execute it, alright? Don't lose hope."

Crimson passed one more smile her way, encouraging and proper, before continuing his walk, out of the arena, through the hall, and then out the front gate. Making sure no one was watching him, he let out a short, shrill whistle. The Pelipper that had dropped him into the stadium now flew on the outskirts of the castle's edge, skimming the choppy water beneath him. The Chimchar waited patiently for the bird to fly close, then reached out and grabbed one of the legs. The Pelipper seemed to take the weight in stride, flapping his wings harder and harder until they started gaining altitude. And then they were off, heading in the direction of Castelia City.

He had two days to prepare his words and he would take every minute of that as long as she was offering.

Lucy was shaking with fear and rage, but she said nothing to either pokemon who spoke to her, just nodded her head as she struggled to remain on her hands and knees, next to her Master.

Diamond stood as he was acknowledged, and nodded, bowing once more. "Of Course, My Lady." he replied to her. "You'll be pleased to know that Lucario will be no problem. I will see to that." he added, not knowing what Melaine was saying to Lucy, and not having a way to understand. But based on his new position and her willingness to obey, he could hazard a guess.

Lucy nodded again, ensuring her loyalty to Diamond, and by extention Melanie. At least for now anyway. After a moment, Diamond turned his heartless gaze to Lucy.

"Can you stand?"

Lucy shook her head. She was too weak. Nodding, Diamond reached into his bag, withdrew a pokeball, and pointed it at Lucy. "Return." A red glow covered Lucy, a tear dropped from her eye, and as she vanished into the pokeball, the teardrop hit the ground. He paid no heed to the chimchar who talked to Lucy before he returned her - didn't even grace it with a look.

Later, while Melaine gave her little speech of overthrowing the UPL, Diamond stood off in the distance, his eyes aglow with a purple Aura of malice. His arms crossed over his chest. He left half way through, and went to where Lucy lay, resting and healing from her battle with Melaine. He looked over her, his heartstrings pulled one last time, and he turned away, walking away.

She'd find him when she was strong enough.

The Crystal Obelisks were always of interest to Diamond. They were everywhere among the region, their aura was strong and dark, as was his, now that he'd fully recovered and grown stronger. No thanks to Melaine's stabbing and converting him, anyway. Lucy likewise was stronger now, still loyal to Diamond in trying to get him to turn back to his old self. While she obeyed Melaine's first command to her and wasn't overtly and obviously trying to subvert her rule; she just wanted her partner back.

"Diamond.... why are we here? The Obelisks aren't anywhere near here. At least, I can't sense any."

"Perhaps not. But their energy is here, Lucario." he answered. Lucy's ears flattened sadly against her skull. He still refused to call her by the nickname he gave her when they first met all those years ago. "They're the key to getting stronger in addition to training our bodies and Aura. You understand?" he turned to look at her.

She nodded. From what she gathered, they also affected Melaine in some way, though there was only so much she could on her own. She needed Diamond back to his old self. He was more sensitive to Aura before his change of heart. She sighed as he looked away, beginning to walk. She waited a few steps, then began to follow, eyes searching for more answers. There had to be a way to reach his heart and make him feel something -anything - again.

"Luciaaaaaan...how far are we?"

"Will you relax for a second, Chloe? We're almost there."

Diamond and Lucy would hear voices coming from where they knew the Route was located. There were very two different tones, one being a whiny and childish girl while the other was grumpy and mature boy. They both sounded very young and very human, proven by the fact that Diamond could understand what they were saying.

"I'm tired! My feet are killing me!"

"I know...but we gotta keep moving. No point in sticking around the big cities anymore. Not with that massive battle going on."

"Is Striaton City a big city?"

"Not anymore. The city grew really small once they relocated the Gyms in Unova. It'll be a perfect place to hide out until all this blows over."

"Hey Lucian."

"Yeah?"

"Do you think we should be running? Why shouldn't we fight, like we saw all those trainers do in Castelia?"

"Because that would probably get us...corrupted, or whatever...and we're not trainers."

"We fight with Pokemon! Doesn't that make us trainers?"

"I'm not getting into this discussion with you right now. I've told you the difference between what they do and what we do."

There was silence for a moment, then the girl spoke up once more.

"Lucian?"

"What?"

"Why'd you make me put away Ribbons earlier?"

"You remember what the old man told us when we first heard about Melaine?"

"No. What?"

"He said to not let our Pokemon anywhere near those tall purple rocks."

"Why?"

"Because they make Pokemon turn...bad...y'know? Like, corrupt?"

"Oh..." the girl's voice trailed off.

"We've just gotta be careful, alright? Just keep our guard up and make sure we get through this together."

"Are Garrett and Sarah going to be okay?"

"I-" it was the boy's turn to trail off, "I don't know...I hope there's a cure to this."

Their voices trailed off as they continued along the route, out of earshot of the Lucario and her trainer.

"Diamond."

"I sense them. Go see what they want."

Lucy nodded and vanished from sight, heading towards the younger voices. Out of the Rustling bushes she walked, ears perked up and head tilted. She was special, that was easy to see from the start. She was shiny - different colored and much larger than the average Lucario female. Human Sized. Obviously raised with tender love and an abundance of affection and warmth. Until recently. There was a slightly less warm glint to her eyes.

She spoke through telepathy, indicating her high intelligence. "Greetings! I am Lucy, might I ask what you two are doing so far from the safety of your homes?" she asked. Diamond was watching from the distance. Through their Aura he could see everything, and with his connection, albeit weak now, he could hear at least Lucy's side of the conversation. What Diamond didn't know, however, was that Lucy was strong enough to alter her Aura, and let him hear what he wanted to hear. She could speak freely, for the most part.

"I'll... spare the details and pleasantries. Do either of you know how to save someone who was corrupted by Melaine? My... partner... my friend... he's not the same." Straight to the point, hopefully they'd understand.

What she would see on the other end was a boy and a girl that looked like a complete juxtaposition of each other. The girl was a blonde with green eyes, a small nose, and bright lips. She wore a pink summer dress with a floral pattern and straw loafers over yellow socks. The boy had jet black hair that spilled over his head and around his face and a small frown on it. He wore a black suit with a purple collar, black gloves, and black slacks and dress shoes. But his eyes were the most disorienting. One eye was a calm and analytical purple while the other was a vibrant and bright pink, almost hypnotic in nature.

But neither returned the welcoming mood. They were on edge and travelling alone, so when the Lucario made her presence known, the boy stepped in front of the girl, putting his left hand in between them, his right hand clutching a PokeBall on his waist. The girl had also grabbed one. However, neither had flung it yet.

"Stay back..." the boy warned Lucy, taking a step back.

"Lucian, do the corrupted Pokemon look like that? That doesn't look like Willow's Lucario."

"I don't know. Shush!" the boy quieted her before addressing Lucy, "I don't know what you want with us, but we don't know how this shadowy energy works, alright? I just know to stay away from it."

He kept his gaze on her, as if waiting for some kind of attack. It was clear that these kids were on edge. But what was weird was the strange aura Lucy would sense from the boy named Lucian. It was mostly human, only...not quite. It wasn't shadow energy. She had long learned the stench of that dark stuff. But there was something else there, something that melded terribly with the human soul...like a chaotic amalgamation of some kind.

His pink eye grew a little bit brighter.

Her ears once more flattened sadly as the boy answered her question. She looked down and sighed, crossing her arms. "If I was going to attack I would've done it already.... but that's not what I was told to do." she sighed. She blinked slowly and then sighed again, ears remaining flat. "I just wanted the information on how to save my partner.... He's never been the same...." she said softly.

This boy's Aura was... different. Her sensory bulbs lit up as she once more looked at him - it tipped off Diamond that something was up, and the man began to approach from where he once stood, about two hundred meters off the route.

"What... you're different, too." Lucy narrowed her eyes. She took a curious step forward, ears perking up curiously as well. Her eyes glowed a dim blue as she searched his Aura, and that of the girl's, too, just to be sure.
