The leather jacket kept the man warm in the cold of winter nights. A hat kept his hair in place. A pistol holstered at the small of his back kept his mind at ease. A high whistle carried a tune from his lips, while he clicked his heels down the sidewalk, only to reach the entrance of a certain estate. The one he was told about, at least.

Shaded eyes flicked from one side of the complex to the other. The whistling came to a halt, as the ambluance and vans pulled up. He cocked a brow, and a deep sigh hailed from the pit of his stomach.

Of course, he meandered a little closer, like any other curious civilian, and caught a glance of the scene; paramedics, biker, and other figures all dressed in black, just like Edgar.

He spotted a woman, who had just plopped down on the sidewalk. He didn't bother to think is she was too important, or not. She appeared to be the only one without a mean look on her face. Edgar treaded softly toward the woman on the curb. He began to clear his throat. "So... What happened?" He inquired in a low voice.

A surprised was glance was shot at the fluffy woman standing on the other side of Anodyne. "Uh huh..." He looked from Vidal to Anodyne, still waiting for the woman to say something. "Is that..." he began, staring down at the handheld game device Anodyne had. He tilted his head, and looked back to Vidal. "She plays video games, too? What, is she 12?" By the actions the fluffy girl portrayed, she, Anodyne, apparently was.

And then a familiar voice reached his ears. Edgar looked across the street to finally see his cousin: Nina Sekova. Of all the places, she was here. He hadn't been in contact with her side of the family for a while, now. There were no such things as family reunions. "Nina!" He called, waving at her, before taking a brisk stride away from the fluffy girl. He ignored whatever misplaced comment she spoke.

"Все еще довольно, ясно." The Russian dialect built up from his throat, and poured from his lips like a bad soup. "This is the place, huh?"

"It's time to make a change, Edgar Sekovic."

An autonomous voice etched the air. Parts of the black silhouette gleamed under a harvest moon light; its head, specifically, shined an angelic bronze color. The rest of its body was cloaked in the darkness.

"Is that right? Well, fortunately for you, I agree." The named man replied in steady breath to his addresser. "You've heard of the Invictus, I imagine. If they accept me, I'll be teaming up with them. They sound promising from what I've heard, so far." His eyes were shaded under the lip of his fedora, though he glanced away in thought, for a moment. Edgar peered back to the ominous figure afront of him. He seeked an opinion.

The head of the individual produced a glare from the moonlight, as it nodded in agreement.

"This is in valid association with the goal."
It professed. It took a slight bow toward Edgar.
Code: Select all
"We wish you good chance in this goal, Sekovic."

Edgar allowed for himself to bow back in accordance. This being was one to be respected, not only for its high capabilities, but also for the personal significance it held in regards to Edgar. "I'll try not to disappoint." The silhouette vanished into the shadows completely, after that sentence. And, Edgar left after it.

His heels clicked along the sidewalk. Random thoughts swirled about his head. The kind of thoughts one has when extremely bored. He was on his way to the bus-stop. The street lights flickered here and there. The sirens sounded up this way and that. The winter snow, which fell at a steady rate, appeared to pile up and down streets. Edgar finally reached the bench. A lonely sign, which read 'Bus-Stop,' obviously, stood erect next to the bench. The man plopped himself down. He rustled in place, and shoved his hands in his pockets, though not before removing a bronze flask from one of those pockets. He thumbed over the smooth metal, before twisting off the cap. He pleasured himself with a long, heart warming swig.

"She said at the bus-stop." He mumbled, clutching the flask, and leaning back on the bench.

He did not notice her in the slightest. His eyes were all but shut. His hat flew off, as his body jolted from the excitement Consquently, he literally jumped the gun, immediately snatching it out from his back holster. He didn't manage to aim it, however. He recognized that voice, however much distorted it sounded at the moment.

Still sitting, he looked up to see Nina's devious eyes. Though, not before he sighed in relief, did he tremble with anger. He proceeded to stand, blatantly brushing off her hands. "Fuckin'... Damn you." He shook his head, and holstered his gun. "I was just about to have a nice nap." He grumbled.

"I be- ... A kid?" He repeated. His voice drew on a slightly irritable tone, though curious, too. He stepped back, slanting his weight, before glancing off to the side, as if to disregard her for a moment to regain his patience.

His lips parted, and he introduced his reply to Nina with a furrowed brow. "Yes, I do." He cleared his mind with a sigh. "I need, and want something better than what I did. Don't get me wrong, Nina, I got a shit load of money for what I did. But, a shit load of baggage to go along with it." He walked over to pick up his hat, and set it straight on his head. Subsequently, he tossed Nina the flask. "Have some." He would stare back at her in thought. "You just wanna see if I'm all there, huh?"

A wistful chuckle carried his next words. "It's not the 'new problems' I mind, it's the old ones." His smile retracted some. "And, yes you're right. Things have changed. Honestly, I hope things stay that way." He nodded back at her. "You don't have to worry about what I can do. I can handle myself just fine. I can get my hands dirty as much as you need, but I don't want to kill any innocent people."

He treaded closer, back around the bench to retrieve his flask from her. "Good?" He asked, reaching out a hand.

"'Ripper'?" He took back the flask, and tilted it back to his lips to receive another sip. He smirked back at her, as if to suggest she might be joking. "Cute name. What does this 'team' do, exactly?"

Edgar shot a glance down at his watch. "The bus will be here soon." He tilted his head at her, and cocked a brow. "You never said where we were heading, after this."

"A tank, huh? Sounds like a good time, Nina." He stuffed the flask back in his jacket pocket. "I'll make sure to play nice with everyone, too. I'm not usually around other people, when doing a job, but this is a new start." He cleared his throat. "Adaptation is key, after all."

The headlights of the bus would blare, as it drove around the corner of the street, and pulled up to the stop. It was long, and dawned the standard metalic silver appearance.

The boots thumped on the floor, as Edgar mosied his way into Gambit's Bar behind all the men, and one woman, in black. He ebbed away from the river soldiers, as he wasn't a member, and thought not to be entitled to any interaction with the lot.

His eyes darted pass the crowd, and searched for any spot to rest. A Glock was holstered on the side-arm of his inner jacket. A fedora tilted slightly over the brow of his head. His hands were shoved into the safety of his pockets.

He eyed Anodyne curiously. They had encountered one another, before; a commando with a PSP was hard to forget. He approached the booth, and made a consequential effort of looking around for anywhere else to sit. The dreary sigh flushing from his lips marked the conclusion that there was no where else to sit.

"Fuckin'... soldiers." he mumbled, before edging closer to the superhuman occupied booth.

"Mind if I sit here?" He had finally garnered enough patience to ask the woman politely. "The rest of them are occpuied. By your guys."

His own brow arched in response, as there was an obvious debate through body language going on. Once his presence was condoned, Edgar provided an awkward smile of thanks to the woman. He patted down his jacket, after plopping down into the seat with an assured groan of delight.

The sound of heels clicked all the way to the booth, as the waiter approached with a note pad in hand. "What can I get for you two, tonight?" He glanced between them.

Edgar's brows flicked up at Anodyne. "You want anything?"

The silence between them was louder than all the racket in the bar. "No? Okay," He looked back up to the waiter, as he was bordering on suspicious thought of the woman's lack of words.

"I'll just have a City Ale, and some chicken wings." The waiter scribbled the order down, and swiftly turned on the ball of his shoes to glide toward the bar.

Edgar cuffed his jaw, and found himself scratching at the rough needles of a five o' clock beard. "Probably the most normal thing anyone has ordered in this place."

His brow grooved in suspicion, before placing a wary finger on the card, and sliding it over his way. "The Ripper..." His eye twitched, as he glanced back up to re-examine her face.

"We've met before, you know? You didn't talk much then, either. Just played..." He motioned a finger at the handheld device. "...that. I've never been much for video games. Didn't have them growing up." He mentioned, eying the bar to search for the waiter and his wings.

His neck inclined back just an inch. His fingers twitched, as his gun hand smoothed over and off the table. It was simply instinct on his part. "Yeah... Mine didn't either." His voice trailed on, before a sudden visitor came into their midst.

He snapped his neck up at the chiseled man. His nose wrinkled in distaste of the sight of the man. He glanced back to Anodyne. A slight sparkle lit in his eye. "Your boyfriend?"

He slapped his hand back on the table with a smile, and chuckled mischievously at the woman. "Yeah, I guess you wouldn't have one with a nick-name like that." He nodded at the business card, of which the overhead light shined down on.

When the singing began a curl of his lips allowed for a smirk to be revealed. He flexed his abs, as the laughter was held in. A hand was brought up to his mouth to "cough" in, and refrained from embarassing the poor soldier any further.

"Sorry, about that." He shook his head glancing this way and that to avoid any eye contact, and to possibly hide his growing grin.

The waiter scooted past the blonde man, and finally arrived at the booth with Edgar's chicken wings. The scent of sweet spice and boiling grease crawled into his nostrils. Last, but not least, the waiter placed the mug of City Ale onto the hardtop table. The head fizzed and bubbled brightly. The smell of hops was strong in this ale.

"Yeah, good to meet you." He finally repsonded to the blonde man, but intentionally failed to give out his name. His heart was set on the chicken wings, as one might tell by the fashion of his basted fingers. His teeth gnashed into the spicy wet meat, and crunched the boiled bones of the wings. Gulps of the ale followed suit. And, then a loud burp sung from his belly like a foul chorus.

He gazed back up at the man, feeling slightly annoyed. He snatched up a napkin and wiped the orange sauce from his burning lips. "That's hot." He looked back to Anodyne. Though, his lips parted, as he realized the vaguness of that statement might imply something completely different.

He waved a hand in regret of his words. "Uh, I didn't mean you. Shit..." He shook his head. "Don't take that the wrong way. You're a great lookin' woman." He found himself glancing over her armor and guns. "You just need something that fills out your figure." He sipped some more ale to lighten the tension of his thoughts.

He nodded in silence at the inept conversation, before twisting his figure around to peek over the booth. "So, you know... all of these people?" He caught the more than interesting pose of the white-haired woman, as he glanced between her and Isaiah. "Not bad." He muttered admirably at the scenario of the two characters.

He turned back around. "Hopefully, I'll get hired on by you guys soon." He added. He nodded down at the basket of chicken wings. "You want any?"
