Emura

The scales that I once had have changed, and with them so have I.

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Ikiros

Groups

In the valley of Orak Ma'az lies the last true homeland of the native dragons on Terra.

Description

ImageImage Emura is a dragoness who has lived for nearly as long as the Breath of the Ocean, Tikaro. She has two forms, an elven form that allows her to pass around the world without too much alarm, and a dragon form. In dragon form, she's roughly 25 feet in length, with a wingspan of nearly 30 feet. From her neck fall long strands of hair, something odd for her kind, though it makes sense due to it being unnatural.

Personality

Emura is calm and rather shy around people she doesn't know very well. It takes her a few days or so to fully get used to people, but once she decides on whether she likes you or not, it becomes difficult to change her mind. Being a dragon of more than 2000 years of age, her mind is riddled with magical confusions to would-be attackers. She enjoys to fly and relax in her natural form, but she's been forced to remain in her elven form for longer and longer periods of time, due to increasing animosity towards dragons over her lifetime.

Equipment

Emura has no equipment worth noting. She tends to be more pacifist-like instead of being a fighter, but in battle she can only use a few items.

Elf Form-
As an elf, Emura can only use a few variations of magic. Mainly things that cause her enemies to become more passive and calm, rather than offensive spells.

Dragon Form-
[She's a dragon, do I really need to go into this? Just kidding about that.] As a dragon, Emura has all of her natural weapons. She has her teeth, claws, tail, and wings, should she need to use them. Aside from this, she has her dragonfire, which burns a brilliant icy blue color as it blazes, crisping most anything that isn't either enchanted or shielded properly. She can also roar to frighten away her attackers, though it's easier to breathe out fire to scare instead of roaring.

History

Emura was born thousands of years ago and was trained as all young dragons are. She was a friend of Tikaro, though they had a falling out and haven't spoken or seen each other since. She has remained sequestered from the world and has done nothing more than survived on her own, hunting for food when she needs to, and keeping to herself almost entirely.

So begins...

Emura stepped uncertainly into the bar. Her first impression had been one of fear and disgust, having seen the cracked sidewalk outside the building, and the obviously repaired outside. As she stepped in, she closed her eyes in shock as a wave of smells, only a few of which she found pleasant, crashed against her. She finally opened her pale blue eyes and looked around, seeing only a robotic bar tender and another female on her own.

Emura stepped deeper into the room. It was darker in here than it had been outside, but she was able to calm down enough to adjust her sight into the inhuman spectrum of infrared. Upon opening her eyes once more, she saw a hazy version of the infrared spectrum over the spectrum of light visible to humans, essentially seeing in both at once. She looked at the woman in the bar as she walked up to the bar, though she said nothing. To the robotic barkeep she said, "A glass of ice water, if you wouldn't mind."

Emura turned to face the woman by the fire with a start. She hadn't expected to be spoken to, but it would be rude not to reply. She took one last look at the bartender, realized it was off, and sighed before walking over to the only other patron in the room.

"Hello. Are you alright? You don't look too well right now." She had noticed the second heat in the woman's abdomen and thought to herself,

Emura shifted her gaze to the crackling flames and watched them as the words washed over her. She was confused, mostly by the area she was in, but also by what the woman was saying. She'd never known people to simply admit things. There was always at least one trap hidden within the words spoken by a Two-legs.

"Ah, I'm sorry for that. I would help, but I'm not sure how I could do so." She smiled politely and then gasped while covering her mouth. "I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. Pardon my rudeness. I'm Emura Colde-" She stopped for a moment before continuing. "Coldeh. Emura Coldeh."

Emura twitched her long elven ears. "I'm sorry. I'd love to stay and talk, but I hear the one I've been looking for. It was nice to meet you Katie." And with her words spoken, she bowed, dashed out the door, and charged down the road.

Emura returned through the door, head hung in disappointment. She'd heard his roar but had left too late to catch him. She looked around solemnly, noticing the bar had gained a few new people since she'd left so hurriedly earlier.

Emura huffed and looked up from the seat she'd taken. She wished that she could once more see whom she'd been searching for for almost two thousand years, but it would take time, and time is what she had. She noticed the woman she'd spoken to before, but since she seemed preoccupied, Emura simply stay where she was, not trying to interrupt them.

Emura waved back and stood before walking over gracefully. She looked for a moment at the woman's belly before finding herself a seat. She spoke softly to Trephan/Kate saying, "I'm sorry about earlier. I was trying to, ah, to find a long lost friend of mine. It's been a while since he and I have seen him and I was hoping I would be able to get to him. that's why I had to leave so quickly."

Emura "I'm glad you understand. He's like me, in a few ways, but I don't know what to do when I find him. I'm sorry...I'm rambling. So, are you sure you're feeling alright?" She was concerned for the woman, but was unsure what she could do to help. She'd never spoken to pregnant humans, nor did she know how things worked for them, so she did her best not to sound foolish.

Emura "You told me. And you're welcome, though I really wish I could be more helpful than just sitting here and talking. So, may I ask where you're from?" She was curious, that was certain, but she was being incredibly forward about things. Her time living among the Two-legs was long ago, and she barely remembered what it meant to not be rude back then, not to mention she knew next to nothing about today's culture and customs.

Emura "I wouldn't know. I've been away from civilization for so long that I've lost almost all of what I once knew about your kind." She gasped slightly at her words and looked down in shame and embarrassment for a moment. She thought, She looked up at Trephan and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so rude.

Emura smiled, a motion that was becoming more and more rare for her. "I just got to this town, actually. I've been traveling around the world for the last five years trying to find my friend, that's all. I only know that this is Gambit's Bar, perhaps the most notorious place in Wing City." She sighed, thinking once more of who she was trying to find out here, in this newest of places.

"Are you sure I'm not being rude Kate? I mean, I could answer questions, if that would help." She looked to the door for a moment, her eartips swaying slightly with the movement before she looked back at the woman before her.

Emura "Yes, that's right. I suppose it wouldn't be dangerous to tell you what he -and I- are. We're... First, I have to ask you to promise me something. You must not tell anyone, and I'd rather you didn't attack me when I tell you." She watched the woman pleadingly, hoping she would acquiesce. Her ears twitched slightly at a few sounds outside, but none she could hear were what she wanted.

Emura smiled uncertainly. "Alright. I'm a dragon. I'm searching for another dragon, one who once wanted to be my mate, but who I shunned. The reason why I asked you not to attack was because the last time I told someone, I got chased out of the village by a dozen men with spears and bows." She shuddered slightly before continuing. "I've been trying to find him for so long because I want to apologize, maybe even see if he'll accept me as he once wanted to. Last I heard, he was living around here, so I came to see if I could find him."

Emura "The Two-legs no longer fear dragons? I was almost sure they did." She sat up straighter, mouth turned up slightly into the smallest of smiles. Perhaps she could find him simply by showing herself as she was naturally. Well, as natural as she could be anymore. That wizard had seen to it to make her look so much different than Tikaro would remember.

Emura saw the anxiety on thee woman's face. "Get next to the hearth, I'll keep you safe. Remember, I'm a dragon after all." She smiled softly and then moved chairs and tables around her, clearing an area for her to sit. She stood in the center of the area and morphed into her draconic form, becoming a large white dragon with light teal accents.

Emura growled softly as fragments bounced and scraped across her white scales. the thought was projected just as sound would be, able to be heard mentally, rather than physically. It was an odd ability, and only one that would work while she was in dragon form.

Emura cruised through the air, some hundreds of feet off the ground. With and slight tilt of her head, she looked down like a hawk, spying a single traveler on the path below. The dragon pitched forward and angled into a shallow dive, hoping this new person might be able to help her find her friend.

Emura flapped once to keep herself airborne before cruising lower on stilled wings. She was impressed by the size of the sword strapped to the man's back, though it wasn't really what stayed on her mind. She bugled softly and dived steeper, landing across the path with a dull thud and a cloud of dust. As she landed, only then did she think that such a landing would likely cause anxiety and the unsheathing of the man's weapon.

Emura stood straight, her legs having bent to absorb the shock of landing. She flapped once to blow away the dust before folding her wings against her flanks. She lay down, intending to appear passive, though her sense of smell was telling her that he was prepared for a fight, despite not wanting to. She projected her thoughts to him, the thought coming to him as if they were spoken words.

Emura She grinned wolfishly before continuing. She watched him, her eyes constantly flicking between his face, sword, and hands. He didn't look like a fighter, not physically, but her age told him that he could be one, despite his looks. She'd seen it before, at least.

Emura became intrigued at his avoidance of her question. She huffed, a small cloud of smoke rushing from her mouth. She closed her eyes and her form rippled and shifted, morphing into that of a short elf with overlarge ears. In the instance when she'd been morphing, she'd opened her eyes again. Emura looked at Arcell and said, in a lilting voice, "We tend to keep to ourselves mostly. That's why most don't believe in us anymore."
