Usually a pleasant person.

Emphasis on 'usually.'

Ephmera Runderton yawned as she leaned against one of the less dirty-looking tables, preferring not to touch the seats, which seemed to be covered with vomitus from the previous night. Where were the people that had wanted to talk to her? She rubbed her large belly, easily mistaken for fat, in boredom.

Ephmera Runderton glanced to the staircase at the sound of shuffling and movement. Immediately she focused on the two beings causing the sounds; she swore they had the same mental readings as the letter she'd gotten, addressed to her but authored by anonymity. Clearly, whoever had sent her to Gambit's knew she was a mage of decent power.
Wait. Was that man (well, she assumed he was one on face value, and the other a woman similarly) covering his partner's eyes? Recipe for trouble, if there ever was one.

And she enjoyed watching trouble.

Ephmera Runderton looked blearily around at the Bar as people filed in, still leaning against the table. After a couple minutes she'd lost interest in the duo who seemed to have had the same feel as the anonymous letter-writers, and had since just been fidgeting in her seat and scanning her surroundings. There didn't seem to be anything going on, really, and she was bored.
Ephmera had half a mind to leave, when the man suddenly walked her way.
"Can I help you?" she enquired of him, rubbing her eyes and trying to make herself not look as though she'd just recovered from consumption.

Ephmera Runderton looked up to Trephan and squinted sleepily. For a few seconds she just stared dumbly at the outstretched hand, then remembered her manners/common sense and took it, using it to pull herself up into a somewhat-standing position. "G'day t'yuh too, and..." She trailed off, losing interest in the conversation. There was something... off-putting about him, but she couldn't put a finger on it.
"Yeah, I've-I been better on other days, but everyone's had these, uh..." she tried starting again, but, again, trailed off.
She clenched her teeth, willing away the spiderwebs that seemed to be spinning themselves in her brain, and resolutely set forth. No mental block of any sort would stop her, unlike some people who couldn't even write properly for days at a time. "I's Ephmera, call me Effy. Good to meet ya too, if that's the case."

Ephmera Runderton grimaced as the man took a seat at one of the bodily fluid-laden chairs. "Just... eh," she answered, after rolling the question over the tongue for a couple seconds, then shrugged. "Probably has something ta do with this," Ephmera added, pointing to her somewhat swollen belly. "Hard ta walk. Hard ta balance. Almost fell down and broke something the othuh day. By the by, you's sitting on a chair someone's had a bit of funny business on. Check yer bottom."

Ephmera Runderton shrugged again, seeming more interested in the topic of awkward stains than pregnancy, but went along for the ride. "Dunno. Maybe four? Five? Six? Months, that's. Not days. Or years. Or seconds." At this point, she gave Trephan a wary look. "What'd ya think? I'm some sorta whore or something?"

gave Absinthe a positively beatific stare, wondering first of all, why she was intruding on her assumed flirtation, and secondly, how and why she had acquired a pair of scissors.
That was three questions, wasn't it?

She continued to watch the woman having fun with the scissors for a bit, then finally, finally deigned to respond to Trephan. "Thanks for your courtesy, then," she added, turning her giant smile to him. "You're quite the expert on babies, aren't you? I wonder why."

Ephmera Runderton did not quite appreciate being interrupted. Luckily, years of study in Stormwind -- a rather ugly place, she cared to note, and not the best place to study sorcery, let alone raise a child -- had given her a fair bit of self-control, a talent she clearly showed now.
Most of her friends had other great talents, but seeing as how they'd all blown themselves up using said talents, she was pretty sure she was pretty damn gifted.

Said talent was rendered useless when, again, Absinthe chose that second to leave. Ephmera visibly relaxed, and considered taking a chair before, again, taking a look at the stains and the solid chunks of vomitus on the chairs. No thanks.
"Sure, if you insist. I'll have a white wine spritzer, maybe a Dalaran vintage? If that's alright?" There was the faint possibility that he didn't understand what she was saying at all, but she thought not nor cared about it.

Ephmera Runderton continued to smile at Trephan as she passed her exactly as ordered. She gave the drink a little sniff, as she was apt, and then frowned. Something was off...

... had Dalaran increased sugar prices again? She hated Splenda. Especially when they put it instead of sugar, dammit. Dalaran's vintages were supposed to be sugary, not Splendourous.
With that, she took a sip of her drink elegantly, trying to hide her disappointment. Even a little taste of home would be great.
Ephmera looked up at her tablemate. "When was the last time ya visited home? Ya know, where ya's was born? I miss it, a bitty bit, mesel-- a-hic!" The mage covered her mouth, frowning. She wasn't prone to hiccups...

Ephmera Runderton sighed to herself, taking another dainty sip of the Dalaran spritzer. Talking about the past always made her a little bit nostalgic. Despite how dirty it was, despite how ugly it was, despite how vile it was, thinking of her little town of Goldshire...
... evidently made her faint.
Literally, one second, she was standing up, as awake as could be, and the next second, her bottle had fallen onto the table, spilt all over, and Ephmera was out cold, on the floor.
Pick your poisons, deary.
