Erich had been neglecting his supper, studying on some university courses he was taking, barely able to afford such on his Reichspost salary and wound stipend, allowing the rice, or what seemed to be rice, to begin to stick to the boiling pot on the stove behind him. Something which Erich, as he flipped a page, recalled, assisted in such by their smell, which had managed to slowly waft across the small space in a rather sluggish manner. He jumped up, practically not having to move from his apartment's island to tend to the stove behind him, taking it off of the burner when there was a knock on his door. He sighed, somewhat frustrated, giving the rice and odd stir or two before hopping too, still clad in the remnants of his uniform, his tunic laying on the back of the stool he had been sitting on, his light blue shirt matching the navy trousers. "Coming." He tried to rush to the door as quickly as he could, hobbling oddly without his cane, which lay propped against the island by his stool, and with his momentum built up somewhat, he braked himself with an extended hand, his arm forcing him to a stop.

With an odd glance and tapping of a few buttons by the side of it, the door slid open, revealing something which he really wasn't expecting. It was Alke, or it looked exactly like her, but she was... well. She was dressed rather well. Incredibly well, one might say. Looking her over for a moment, he finally met her eyes, not knowing what to say other than, "Alke?"

Erich smiled in return, though he looked somewhat worried, and responded rather apologetically, "Of course! I'm just... I'm in no shape for you to look so..." He paused, unsure of how to put things as he stepped out of her way, "... stunning. Make yourself at home -- I know it isn't much." He admitted the last rather sheepishly, knowing that the small apartment probably wasn't what she was used to, even when compared to her barracks. He looked to her again, embarrassed that he was so disheveled in comparison to her, "So... this is your official attire?"

"Regardless, you do it wonders, and thank you... sometimes I might not feel it." He embraced her for a moment, rubbing his cheek on hers, as was the Erutin custom, something he'd picked up on in his time spent with her. At her behest, he came to the table, sitting beside her with a worried look on his face as she spoke, not knowing just what it was that wouldn't be easy, and in the back of his mind there was the faint fear that she might be leaving. However, her explanation soon came, and he slowly garnered a better understanding of the situation, for he knew, both from initial reports and general observation, that she was no Scatterran. Though, her final statement was something of a poor joke, one that Erich would've shaken his head at and laughed were it not for her severe expression. His face took on a rather puzzled quality, still sitting close to her, and he reached for her hand, taking it up to be illuminated by the dim light above his island.

"If you're not human, Alke, then what are you?" He examined the hand for a moment, his expression curious and lacking hostility, and grasping her fingers with his, he ran a thumb over her knuckles, back and forth. It was a human hand in his own, of that he was rather sure.

Erich let her go slowly after the kiss, and was rather confused for a moment as she stripped down, torn between either averting his eyes or to continue looking, as she likely intended for him to do. It was just, odd, but, that would pale in comparison to what was coming. She began to shift shape, changing into some sort of cat, almost a predatory animal, save one that seemed a bit young, that hadn't quite grown into its prime. His expression had gone from embarrassment to utter confusion in mere moments, not quite sure how to take things. Once it had finished, it... Alke, raised up a paw, as if to ask him something. He sighed for a moment, pondering just what it was, and what kind of power it possessed, and he raised himself from his seat, if only to guide himself to the ground with his arms, so that he rested on his knees. He reached out with his right hand, his fingers outstretched, to meet her paw, not sure how to react in such a scenario. He began to stammer,

"I... I... this is... this is an Erutin?"

He was stunned again for a moment, not quite sure how to take the honorable mention of sorts. "The... the Archduchess? That's... quite some honor." He looked to her, a smile forming on his face again in the wake of her light kiss, still holding her rather close, and he thought on her closing remarks. He was excited, in a way, to see her domain, being as how she'd probably seen more than enough of his, but what really caught his attention was the mention of her mother, which begged a question from him. "If your mother wont rule... what does that make you?"

Erich nodded, quite reassured to hear that he wouldn't be separated from her because of whatever position she might come to inhabit. Though, her explanation was rather... odd, one that took him a few moments pondering before he truly grasped it, though he still felt some need to confirm what it was he thought. Drawing back, he looked to her, both curious concerning the topic at hand, but still sheepish to bring it up to her, even if they had confessed their feelings, "So, you mean, once we... then, we're together? Until the end?"

Such thoughts gave him a flash of hope, to be able to walk again -- truly walk, and not hobble about -- the thought thrilled him, and not only that, but he could fly! What a concept... "That would be nice, perhaps... perhaps I could fly on one of your worlds? But, Alke, this talk..." He paused for a moment, not entirely sure how to broach the subject, the words having just rolled off his tongue without giving it much thought, he glanced about, avoiding her gaze as he tried to piece something together, "... it's gotten me thinking. Why not... why not get married?" He almost immediately regretted suggesting such a thing, no doubt thinking of her immediate rejection, "... we've both thought of the idea, I'm sure. At least, I know I have."

Erich returned her gesture, though he took her other hand and did the same with it, smiling at her, it really baffled him how sudden she could be at times. He chuckled at the thought, though it was mostly an attempt to hide the joy that he was feeling at the moment, and the apprehension. He knew he loved her, and wanted to spend his life with her, it was just... would he walk down the isle with this limp? Such a doubt didn't linger long in his mind as he looked to her, however, and his strength was redoubled, "Well, depending on the ceremony, there might be... but," with a glance, he looked to the clock on the wall, not that such was really necessary, the churches being open at all hours, "We could get married any time... there'd just be less pomp..."

Erich bumped his shoulder against hers playfully at such a suggestion, and soon started, exiting the door quickly, despite his disability. He was eager to be off to the church, and after making his way outside and punching in the lock-code for the door, he offered her his arm, his eyes drawn to her dress, which still struck him as rather dazzling on her, only having seen her in either civilian dress or her uniform, nothing so formal or elegant.

He tugged her tighter with his arm as she suggested that he favored the dress, and with a sly glance he responded, "You do have me pinned down rather well, and I do have a thing for formalities..." He was enjoying the walk, not because of the scenery or the beautiful sunset, which was framed with Thalheim's triple moons, but because of the woman on his arm. Even at their sluggish pace, both because of their desire to take quite a while and his injury, they arrived at the church, the same one that Erich had brought Thistle to for sermons. With s sigh, he looked to the doors, and asked, "Well... ready?"

Erich leaned over, brushing his cheek against hers as she spoke, and after finishing, he slowly began to ascend the stairs, assisted both by his cane and his love. The doors swung open rather easily, and the place was rather desolate, save for a priest beginning to snooze behind his pulpit. Gingerly, Erich approached, finally announcing as they neared him, "We'd like to be married, sir."

He awoke rather suddenly, the portly man apparently used to there being little traffic at this time of day, and it took a moment for him to realize just what it was being asked. With a curious glance, first to the couple and then to his chronometer, he asked, "So, do you want the short version, or the drawn-out one?"

Erich looked to Thistle, allowing her to choose.

Erich returned the gesture, embracing her ecstatically beneath the holy triad as their lips met, he was still trying to grasp that she was his, and he hers, now. He'd have to buy rings, and where would they live?... Not that it mattered. The only thing that mattered to him now was in his arms, the love of his life, and he felt a fire in him that had been lacking since his days in the cockpit. Drawing away after a moment, he spoke, teasingly, "'Evening, Mrs. Brenner."

He was excited somewhat by her suggestion, and his cheeks burned for a moment as he looked to her, his spare arm wrapped around her waist, and he answered her with a smile, "If that's what you'd like, Alke. I'll even cook us supper..." He turned to walk down the aisle, starting such by climbing down from the slight stairs they had been kneeling on, "Do you have anywhere to be tomorrow?"

He chuckled at that, finding it rather humorous, "It's been some time since that name's been on a service tag, but you're quite right. I'm sure the Emperor would be quite pleased that it'd be such... I know I am." It was an odd thought, his miniscule apartment now being the home of both he and Alke, his wife... he still had a hard time wrapping his head around that, how wonderful it was to finally be able to say that. If she would like, they could even file for reproduction permits -- but, that would be up to her, not he.

Erich echoed Alke from behind the counter in the apartment, hidden partially in the small kitchen of the place. Turning back to his task at hand, placing what dishes they had into the neutron cleaner, he couldn't help but slump his shoulders. He wanted to say something, to try and make her feel better, or to relate, but he couldn't. He left the thing to its business as he turned it on, and strode, as best he could, from the small space to where he could actually look at Alke. She had spoken of it, briefly, and from what he understood things were rather confusing but quite upsetting for her, and with a rather soft tone, almost as if he wasn't sure he should say it, he spoke, "I'm sorry, I wish I could've met her."

Erich smiled, not overly so as it would've been rather inappropriate, rather similar in nature to hers as he approached her, moving oddly without his cane, and, speaking as he did, he gently placed his hands on her shoulders, "Regardless, she was your mother. I'm sure that things wouldn't have been that bad..." Given, Erich had never met her and he didn't exactly know how untrue these words were, but he was also trying to comfort his rather distressed wife, so perhaps the offense was excusable. He pulled her closer to him with a sigh and wrapped his arms about her upper back, "The uniform favors you, dear."

With a gentle kiss to the top of her head he spoke, not wanting her to feel responsible for his issues. She already had more than enough on her shoulders, "Don't be, you didn't know." He felt his heart's burden lifted, however, with the new topic at hand -- the mending of his leg -- and his smile returned, "I would love it..." He didn't speak as he trailed off, though, thinking on the matter, "... so long as you don't mind." He didn't want her to go through with something that she didn't agree with, such wouldn't sit right with him, and he looked to her, making sure that she wouldn't mind if he got his leg back.

"I still have a pilot's certification, if I got my leg back, I might be able to take you flying." It seemed to be an odd invitation, but it was an honest one, and one that Erich held highly. The only time he ever felt so free or liberated in his life besides whenever he was around her was when he was in the sky.

He still held her, though now only his left hand was on her back, leaning forward as he cupped her head with his right hand, his thumb behind her ear. With a playful smirk he teased her, "Doctor things? That sounds very professional, Empress." Given, he realized soon after that the title might upset her, and he tried to distract her from such poor thoughts with a brief kiss. He couldn't help but be excited, just to think of everything he could do with his leg again! "... but, you know, I'm not Erutin."

The thought rather excited him, almost as much as flying. To think that he might be a King... "You speak as if I'd refuse..." He hugged her again, pressing her tightly as he spoke, "It's enough of a dream to be with you now, I don't know if I can handle such thoughts all at once..." It was true, he was happy enough simply being with her that he wouldn't require all that much more, but a leg... that was enough of a boon. The Emperor was kind to him, truly, to not only send her his way, but to make her such an amazing woman. "One thing at a time."

Erich had only recently arrived back himself, a long day stuck musing over the thousands of messages that came through is outlet alone at the office, and was rather busy stuck slumped in his sitting chair, a new addition that they'd acquired recently, along with a desk, which he had been using in lieu of the usual counter. His books were stacked rather neatly in their appropriate corner and his slouched figure leaned back in the chair, his feet laying crossed on the corner of the bed. His tunic was, like hers, unbuttoned, though it remained on him.

With the exception of his kepi on the desk behind him and his loosened tie, he still looked the part of a reichspost worker, though the slight string of drool ushering from the corner of his mouth did seems a little unbecoming. It didn't last though as he was soon shaken from his doze, the dim lighting of the place brightening with the arrival of his wife, who seemed to be a bit more in-tune with her upbringing today. "Hmm? Oh... yes." He answered rather dully, still shaking the sleep from his eyes as he glanced to her, smiling after wiping his mouth quickly with his sleeve.

A grin made itself present on her husband's face, which seemed to only intensify with her protests, "Well, Missus Brennah," he egged her on, winking to her as he suggested, "Pehhaps you should do something about it." Whether she would toss him out of the chair or drag him shopping, he really didn't know. Not that he would mind either of the options.

Again a sigh escaped him, happy that he could continue in his fun, though the chance to get something nice to wear besides his uniform did excite him somewhat. Though he frowned somewhat at the suggestion of her changing, speaking as he did, "Well, I think you look fine, but..." He then leaned up, propping himself with his arms, as he got onto a level plane of vision with her face, "... then again, I am a commoner."

Lord Brenner of House Erutin. He silently mouthed the words for a moment as she rose, off to change into whatever it was she would prefer, thinking on just what it meant to be a noble now. Him. Still working at the post office, and a noble. It boggled the mind, but she was still working on vehicles... He shrugged, shifting onto his legs, still such a strange feeling, standing on his own. The leg was... incredible, to say the least. What he already didn't owe to her was rightfully hers in every way, nevermind the marriage. He really couldn't think of how to repay her for such kindness, to be able to walk again...

He spent the whole day, once they let him go, running. Might've been part of why he was so tired today. Still, things were as they were. His uniform would be fine for going to shop, or so he assumed, even with the slight influence of Alke on it.

Alke. Thistle. It was hard to get used to that.

He took the invitation as it stood, coming forward and, taking her by the hips, spun her about. It was something that he'd been thinking about for a while, and just never had the chance to. He couldn't explain it, rightly, it just felt right. "Well, it's still there, if you ever want it." He eventually ceased with his rash act, though not without lingering on the last motion. "I'm glad," He whispered, drawing over her shoulder as he did, "that you're mine." To have his leg! Such a glorious thing, the Emperor truly did work in mysterious ways. He might not be a fighter pilot, but this... was more than he could ever ask for. "I'm happy I'm not a shame anymore."

Such words only bolstered his feelings, lightly pressing his head against the her own's flank, she smelled of a light perfume, one that he really couldn't tell the difference from motor oil. Both had the same association in his mind, both held in regard to her. He didn't linger for too long, as warm as their embrace might be, looking over her for a brief moment before suggesting, "Well. Let's be off. I don't want to keep you from your prize."
