Erich was sitting at his desk again, this time not asleep though he was still clad in the remnants of his uniform, musing over a book, an actual book, something he'd always kept handy. Was his family's copy of Kampf's Manifesto, Otto Kampf. They'd never gotten rid of it, not through the Exodus or anything. It was a small little thing, and it had some very interesting subjects in it... ones that the state today might not approve of. However, with the arrival of his beloved, and her lessened accent, he turned his head, smiling as he shut the book and stood, the light blue dress shirt interrupted only by his black tie and suspenders.

Striding over without thinking, he approached and stood(he never got tired of that) by the counter, waiting to make sure she wasn't carrying anything. Oh how he longed for that, a chance to carry something for her for a change. However, there seemed to be something he wasn't expecting, a companion of hers, who he greeted with a nod, somewhat embarrassed to be so casually dressed with a stranger present, "Pardon me, I didn't know Alke would be bringing company..."

He sighed an off-hand sigh as she related the day to him, the meetings making his day, which was normally about as exciting as peeling potatoes, seem quite refreshing in comparison, minus the bit about the promotion, such a thing causing him, even in his disabled state, to smile. Shifting under the covers for a moment, he shot her a knowing glance as she lay beside him, adjusting his head once she had done such, speaking when he was finished, "I'm happy to hear. Perhaps we could use a hint of it to head out every now and then..." He offered a hoarse chuckle, "I'm glad you found Nix. You need some time with another woman."

Given, most of the time it was either him or Stahl, or work. A friend was invaluable, and that caused Erich to wonder. Perhaps he should speak with Stahl, see just what kind of person he was. He had seemed amiable enough before he was deployed.

With widened eyes, Erich responded, happy to hear the Stahl had committed himself to such a generous act. It'd certainly help out speaking with Nix, now that she wasn't a stripper. He had to admit that it made things rather odd, especially with a name like Nixie to begin with, and Alke... she knew so little about it. Again her innocence warmed him, to find someone so pure in a place like this was a miracle.

The thought of a beach! It'd been so long since he'd been to any body of water, much less an ocean, though he didn't quite understand what a theme park was. Well, he'd just have to ask his wife. He smirked, about to attempt to sate his curiosity when she coughed again and his face was wiped clean, replaced with a worried look of his own, "I... I haven't gotten you sick, have I?"

Leaning against her once she had moved to join him, he frowned, blaming himself moreso for her sickness than her coworkers. It was nice, though, to have her here, as it surely was better than sitting around sick alone. Perhaps they could share in their misery and lessen the burden. With a parting remark, he commented on her vague references before addressing that which he planned on, "I might need to have a chat with them too."

He shifted, scooting closer to her now, seeing as she was already infected with something, and broke the ice concerning his ignorance of such things she had mentioned earlier, "What is a theme park? Is it like a normal park, where you could have a picnic or something?"

Erich quickly frowned at seeing his loved one in pain, drawing close as she clung to herself. His arms soon wrapping about her, Erich futile in his attempt to lessen her pain, as much as he would wish to. With his head beside hers he spoke after a moment, not having to think long on the matter before passing his judgment, "I think you should, I..." He paused, still worried that he caused this, "I'm sorry, Alke. I didn't mean to."

With a smile he leaned back, happy that she wasn't so upset as to not remain in good humor, allowing her to summon her aide as he returned to his original position, save that he propped himself up on one elbow, blinking as he prepared to the inevitable arrival. This was rather hard to get used to, but he was sure that it had some very nice aspects to it, to be able to go anywhere and everywhere like that. Probably a very liberating feeling.

The sudden appearance still offset him though shuddering somewhat as he teleported in. Erich shook his head as the doctor began his work, waiting for him to get everything started before participating in anything. On then note of symptoms, he glanced to Alke for a moment before looking back to the physician, offering his findings, "Headache, sore throat, fever... some abdominal pain, but nothing drastic." Given, Erich hadn't eaten anything all day, and such might've contributed to it.

There was a sigh from Erich as he glanced to Alke, his face twisting into a look of irony as he heard that she'd be bedridden for two weeks. It seemed that their roles would be reversed. Well, on the bright side he could repay her for her kindness in the matter, she was always looking out for him, now he got to do the same.

Besides, it gave him an excuse not only to take off work for a week or two, but to doctor his wife all the while. "Well, two weeks." He murmured, pondering the thought as he waited. It seemed that the Erutin truly didn't take well to diseases.

With a chuckle he acknowledged her assessment, it was quite true. He would be in here in a matter of moments, and if there was one thing that Erich didn't like the thought of, it was the idea that he would be the person to run about and get all of their errands done. On second thought, however, such might seem an attractive proposition, considering his 'new' leg, it would give him an excuse to put it to good use...

Though he wouldn't be so cruel as to doom Stahl to such a thing. He was a good man, to be so devoted to his little sister. "Alright, I'll defer to your judgement. Until then I guess you'll just have to put up with me."

Again he sighed as she shifted her form, looking about the apartment for a moment before rolling over himself to try and get some sleep. He shifted about for a moment, trying to get his position right so that he could just doze off. He hoped that he wouldn't dream about anything too outlandish, though his mind was still grappling with the thought that the cat that lay under the covers beside him in bed was his wife.

Mind boggling, to be sure.

It was such a dreadful sight, his sprite and lively spouse to be reduced to such a pitiable state in their bed, as he stepped through the door of the former apartment. He chose not to announce himself as she usually did, not knowing whether she lay asleep or if he would startle her, and quickly made his way inside, setting his beret on the counter absent-mindedly as he quickly removed the purely aesthetic waistbelt of his uniform, tossing it aside as his legs made short the trip to her side. With a hushed sigh he looked to her, his expressions drawn on his face as he did. He never knew that her people took so poorly to disease, and such a thing would be good to remember in the future.

Quietly he knelt down beside her, careful not to disturb with any of the equipment or materials that were employed to help her recover, and after a moment or two more of observation he placed his hand on hers, squeezing her fingers lightly as he offered her a soft smile, "I'm back."

"I missed you too..." He rose only slightly, moving to sit lightly on the edge of the bed that she didn't occupy, leaning with her as she drew his hand to her face, opening his palm so that he might cup her cheek. It did pain him to see her like this, he was supposed to be the hurt one, not her! "That's wonderful." His features brightened to hear that things were improving, leaning in to give her a brief kiss before continuing, "We'll go where ever you want when you're better."

His day was long, as usual, what with the monotony of his work, though her sickly condition didn't help things, and already it seemed that time was flying by now that he was back with her, where he could, or so he thought, help.

His arms soon wrapped about her as he offered her what support he could in relation to her occupation, which he knew little about as it was. "Don't worry about it, it's fine." He figured it should be, her being a noble, she could pull just about whatever excuse she wanted, all the better if it was legitimate. Given, one mechanic wouldn't keep the gears from running so badly, and she was something of a special case. "It's dreadful. Work today felt like it took a year... you didn't need me, did you?"

He leaned against her as she did such, happy that she felt well enough for this limited action, enjoying the pleasant feeling of her face against his. For such an alien gesture, it had some appeal to him, then again, perhaps it was his wife who made the gesture what it was. "Wonderful news. I know things must be horrid here stuck in bed..." He drew away for a moment, looking with a smile to her brown eyes, "Let me know if there's anything I can do."

He offered a spare hand to tuck her hair back behind her ear, returning her expression as he drew back, responding with a pleasant air to his voice, "I'd be delighted." He leaned forward, rising from the bed as he did, and shuffled over to his desk, looking to the works he had available, he didn't know if she knew of his copy of Otto Kampf's book, which varied quite plainly from his son's works... she wanted a story though, so he took up his copy of his anthology on Kampf's heroes, stories of pioneers exiled from their home who forged a new life for themselves on the frontier.

Returning now to his side of the bed, he sat, glancing to her with a smile as he sat, leaning his back against the headboard, he soon cracked open the tome and began on a random story, the tale of a planetary lieutenant who relayed medicine for a colony under threat of pirates through several hazardous star systems. Such exciting days those were, before the posh times of the new age...

He was late getting home and it wasn't that he meant to, even if it was his fault. It delighted him that she was feeling so much better, at least that she was able to be up and out of bed, it would be a wonder if she was lucky enough that he didn't keep her from wearing a gas mask every day to work after such a trial. He wanted to make it up to her somehow, and that was part of his delay.

Buying her something was a challenge, usually, now more than ever as a bouquet of flowers might just reintroduce another pathogen which would just start the wonderful ordeal all over again. Instead, he'd simply decided to pick up a rather generous box of treats, assorted candies and the like. Hopefully that'd soften the news of what he'd been investigating today after work.

Still clad in his navy blue uniform as he came through the door, he kept the box tucked under his arm as he arrived, striding into the kitchenette and placing the box onto the counter as he announced his arrival with a moderate tone, not looking to see where ever his wife was, rather working more towards coming up with something to say concerning his delay, "I'm home."

Immeasurable was the degree that seeing her warmed his heart, he couldn't put it into words, and was just pleased to just see her up. Placing his cap onto the counter as well, he soon turned to briefly embrace his wife as their cheeks brushed, "It is," Erich answered, telling the truth as he did see them as he stopped at a store on his way back from the recruiters office, "I ran across it at the store and I thought you might take a liking to them."

She might not take a liking to his other news, but he'd wait on that, for now. "Your day wasn't too bad, I hope?" Work today passed rather slowly, as always, now not only because of his wife, but of the off-chance visit to the recruiters office that he also paid...

A smile was garnered from her beaming reaction, the owner of such glad to see that his beloved was not displeased with such fare. "I'm sorry to hear, Alke. We'll have reading down before long... just in case." That'd probably make things fly by with her, though he didn't know if she enjoyed reading all that much, such a plethora of works being available from across the massive empire. "My prayers are with Nix, then, though I doubt she'll need them." He didn't expect her to shoot back at him so quickly with the same question, and for a moment he debated mentally, his thoughts bouncing about,

"It was rather interesting. I-" He paused, "I stopped by the recruiters office."

A slight recoil shook his heart for a moment upon seeing the shift in her face and the tone of her voice, he had worried that such a thing would upset her, and that was the last thing he wanted, especially in the wake of her sickness. He drew closer to her at such, considering, with tact, how he would approach things, "Well, with my leg fixed, I'm eligible for service again, and..." He glanced to her, offering a soft smile, "Well, I figured it would be a bit more glamorous than a postman. They said that they could place me in accelerated training. Two weeks, and..." His smile faded, looking to his wife as he leaned against the counter, he asked, "You don't want me to, do you?"

This was what he had hoped to avoid, and with a frown he placed his arms about her smaller figure, kissing her forehead as he did. "My training on the Keule still counts, they'd only need to instruct me on a week or two more of operation." He sighed, hoping that his presence would reassure her and help make his words a bit easier, "I asked if I could be stationed here, and they approved. They offered me a job with intelligence concerning my familiarity with the Erutin, but..." He paused, drawing away and taking the side of her head with his hand, drawing her gaze up to meet his, "I declined. I don't think I could stay away from you either."

He tried to disarm her apprehension with a warm smile, "Alke, I could stay here and fly as part of the planetary reserve. It'd be no different than your service in the LW." It pained him to see her so distressed, and such was likely visible on his face, "If you don't want it... please tell me."

He brushed a hint of her swarthynull hair back as he tried to smile, to remove the slight frown that had begun to make itself present on his face. Oh how he hoped to keep her from becoming distraught, but it was unavoidable, he supposed. Her cheek against his, as always, ushered a sigh from him, the feeling having become something most pleasant to him, and he echoed her movement, giving a tad more emphasis to the sway as he spoke, whispering almost, into her ear, "I know this upsets you, love, and I'm sorry. Not an hour will pass in training that I wont think of you or our home."

He pressed his head and cheek against hers once again, her meager presence welling up feeling in his breast, "I can't be reckless anymore, not with the beautiful woman waiting for me here. It would devastate me if I let her down..."

Such a thought thrilled him incredibly, just as to what they would do he'd have to give some thought. A trip to the theme parks would be mandatory, of course, his curiosity in that regard still unsated, thought it would entirely be up to her. She'd be the one suffering the most in the time to come. "It's yours, every moment of it." He drew back as he finished, offering Alke a lingering kiss as he did before announcing, "There's no date yet. I haven't joined. I didn't know if you'd want me to or not."

The suggestion was almost immediately accepted by her husband, though he soon hesitated, remembering that she could easily be rendered invalid again, and that could prove to be devastating with his training. "Are you sure you're well enough, Alke?" He looked her over, she looked healthy enough, though he knew that she could be rather deceptive at times. Allowing one of his hands to drop to hers, he took it up, squeezing slightly as he continued, "I don't want you to be worse if I'm gone, my heart couldn't take it."

To see her down the thing did restore in him some confidence, though it wasn't encompassing. Her suffering earlier had made something of an impact on him, at least in regards to taking her out, his caution, one might think, would be influenced, were it that the two knew each other better, by Steel, thought it was entirely of his own accord. He didn't have much time to muse on the thought as he was soon pulled away by his more lithe spouse, over to where the two could plainly see her black uniform.

There was a slight rush to him as she made the suggestion, not really expecting the quick transition from her worrying only moments prior to this, though that didn't keep him from it. Returning the expression he stepped up, reaching purposefully over her shoulder to reach the uniform, brushing close to her as he did.

"If I must." He responded, playing coy himself. It was most refreshing to have her back to her usual self, away from that dreadful state on the bed with the IV and the machines.

With a hand on her shoulder as he took the uniform down with his other, his own shiver was involuntary at the direct nature of his wife. Sometimes she was rather blunt, but he certainly wasn't complaining as his face split in a smile, lingering with his cheek against for a moment as she spoke such words before she resumed normal conversation, or what seemed to be. He, in return for her own sprite behavior, pulled her white dress shirt about her with little warning, excited both to be off to the recruiting office and to spend the evening with his wife. "It wont take too long, I'm sure." He hinted, of course, though even he wasn't entirely sure if he was referring to his training or the reenlistment process. Though his thoughts of the sky were now, understandably, distracted with the fetching woman before him.

Her words always did have an effect on him, even when he wasn't in such a pressured scenario like this, and this was no different, perhaps even made worse by the context. He offered a brief glance to the uniform on the hanger as she spoke to the thought that they'd need to hurry to be there before they closed, and for a moment or two he, in his rather usual sense of duty, still entertained some thought that she was right, but with her kiss his mind was made up. With the soft crumple of the uniform on the floor and a sigh escaping his lips, his arms soon found themselves about her, speaking as they wrapped about his wife, "... there will be plenty of time tomorrow." He kissed her, unabashed in his love for his wife. The service could wait.
