Such a thing it was to be loved, three years of ridicule and ostracism coming to culminate in such a wondrous relationship, to have such a wife as this - much less one with the power to heal his leg! The thing that made him such a pariah in society... He owed her his life and more, his heart simply being the beginning of it. Were that there was born a woman who he was destined to be with, it had to be her. Kampf worked in mysterious ways, to come to love an alien as your wife, to be healed completely to further the goals of his god and sovereign... Surely if one required more proof, they had to be daft.

Love didn't begin to describe such a feeling, one night spent with her would pass much too quickly, as would a lifetime. "I do love you, Alke Brenner." He managed the words as the two's playful interactions warranted a repose.

The delay was of little concern to the blue-clad man as he stepped inside the door of the recruiters office, arriving several hours after he intended, regardless, his face bore a bright smile as he entered, leaving the light of the new day behind him. A new chapter in his life was beginning, a return to the service, to his honor, that he had been denied for so long, and he, understandably, couldn't wait. His jolly disposition, however, might've been heavily influenced by the smaller figure who he bore on his arm -- his wife -- and held close, taking a good deal of comfort with her presence.

Hopefully things here wouldn't take too long, Erich was sure that they wouldn't, the military of the Hegemony being as efficient as they were, and the two could be left to their own devices again.

The two glided over to the front desk, the receptionist there looking to the couple with nonchalant eyes, even if he recognized Erich from yesterday. "Back?" He asked, simply, wondering if Erich had returned to pursue his dream of flying further. Erich ran his arm back, across his wife's, until his hand was clasped in hers, squeezing it as he responded,

"I believe so. Same office?" With an idle nod, the receptionist hit a holographic display or two, providing a numeric code for the recruiter to know that the alert was legitimate, and with a wave of his hand and some parting words the receptionist sent them off,

"Off you go, same office." Erich offered some silent thanks to the man as he turned from the desk, approaching the office that he'd visited yesterday. With a nudge, he spoke silently to his wife, trying to make sure that she was still alright with it.

The office door gave way to the pair as they approached, and the small office therein was occupied by a man perhaps ten years Erich's senior, who heartily greeted his new acquaintance like an old friend, a toothy grin showing. "Mr. Brenner! Excellent to see you again..." He trailed off as he glanced to Alke, who he offered a brief nod, "... and this is Mrs. Brenner? I understand your hesitation now!" He, of course, referred to Erich's uncertainty to enlist without his wife's consent. Erich didn't take long to respond, moving ahead to place himself between the two somewhat.

"That it is, on both accounts. The offer still stands?" He asked, moving now to sit in one of the seats present, watching the recruiter with a wary eye. He was cautious, of course, of his prior experience with the type. He didn't want to repeat what he had experienced before.

"That it does. You've talked it over?"

Erich nodded, looking to the man with steely eyes as he formulated a response, which didn't take terribly long. "Two weeks, accelerated remedial, then I'm back here?" Glancing over to a holographic sheet, the recruiter's face took on a studious look, looking over the data that he had available. Returning his gaze to Erich, he offered a less eccentric but still oddly happy response,

"The very same. Guaranteed by your status, Lord Brenner." He relaxed somewhat at hearing that the recruiter confirm his previous offer. A nod came in response from Erich, who offered a brief glance to Thistle as he motioned for the holosheet to be provided, and provided it was. Looking over it briefly, it outlined the agreement as it stood, and with a flick of a finger he agreed, his biological signature on the document.

The recruiter accepted it back with a smile, taking it and offering it a brief glance as he did. "Wonderful, Lord Brenner. You'll ship out in twelve days for the Bielen airbase in the north."

Brenner offered his hand to Thistle, the two of them clasped together as he offered her a warm smile and responded to her rhetorical question, "And we will." He offered another glance to the recruiter, his expression softened some what with his wife's pleasant expression. "We do appreciate the down-time."

The recruiter played it off as nothing, happy that he was another count towards his quota, offering the two a dismissive glance as he set the sheet aside, "It's nothing. I'm sure you two have quite the time to begin on." With that he dropped the silent hint that things were done, and Erich took it, rising from his seat, still holding Thistle's hand.

Again he thanked the man before he made his way to move from the office, looking happily to his wife once he'd done such. "Twelve days. I'm sure you have a plan."

The scene didn't matter to him as he tossed an arm about her, rubbing his cheek against hers, "I would be delighted... and whatever you prefer, I'll be there." A brief kiss made itself known on her cheek as he continued towards the door. Two weeks of training if it was anything like how he remembered it, would make him wish he'd taken the greatest advantage of these coming days, no matter how much he did. Whatever the case, he didn't plan on letting her out of his sight.

Everything in its place, such was one of the facets of life that the service had imparted on him before and still he held true to it, keeping the apartment as clean and organized as he could get it, even pushing his books the slightest hair of an inch on his desk so that their appearance and placement was uniform. Every surface had been cleaned and organized, the materials of the kitchen each put into their respective places, and he had color-coded his own closet.

It was one of his ways of dealing with stress.

And stress he would surely have aplenty, though not for his sake, but rather his dear wife's. She would be tormented by his leaving, no matter if it was his dream, and he knew it. Her unhappiness lay on his shoulders, and such was a hard thing to bear, at least for Erich, who was now spinning about in his chair, eying the place for anything more he could do to help make things a bit smoother in his absence.

It was only mere moments before he found his own arms encircling her and a sigh echoing hers. Erich knew that his dream brought pain to her, but even if it did she wouldn't keep it from him, and to realize such was to know that this woman, his wife, loved him, and he knew that, in his own heart, such feeling was mutual. "When I'm back," he said, whispering to her, his head on her shoulder, "I'll show you the sky. Then we'll make the past two weeks look miniscule."

He pushed her back, looking to her as he did, admiring that he had such wondrous fortune as to attain a wife like her! Surely the Emperor had a hand in this. "I'll name her after you." Erich spoke in such vague terms as he brushed a hint of her hair behind her ear, though he knew of what he referred -- his plane. The one thing that hurt the most about his service before was being denied a bird of his own. Such was the pride of a pilot, and such was what he looked forward to most about this. It had been quite some time since he had been in the COFFIN, and he couldn't wait, in contrast with Thistle, to go.

"Of course." He answered with a chuckle, curious as to what they would give him. He knew they were phasing out the Keule, as reliable as it was, and introducing a family of new interceptors and air superiority craft. The Delphin or something of the like. "... I think Thistle," he spoke, mispronouncing the name on purpose, "would be more appropriate for a fighter. Rather spiteful." Finishing with something of a mischievous grin, it faded slightly as she asked again concerning his time of departure, and again he answered after imparting her with a brief kiss on the forehead.

"The same, darling. 0800 hours." There was still a deal of time between now and then, though he knew that it probably seemed like it was flying by for her, and crawling for him, though it's not like that mattered. All the better, in his mind.

"Torn," he mused, his accent preventing him, again, from reaching the correct pronunciation, "... now that would've just been misleading." He hadn't much time to reflect on the words though, as he soon found himself rejoicing, silently, in her presence. Her cheek against his was, to him, one of the feelings that drove him. There was, to him, nothing more he could dare ask of the Emperor. "I wouldn't dare."

He would have to relate to her just how it was when he got back, he knew how she could be, though he was sure she would much rather spend time in one of the two-seat trainers. He could likely requisition one with little trouble now, being a lord. Emperor's breath, that thought still took some getting used to.

Daring another kiss, he responded, teasing back, "Now, why would you do that? He's always so nice." He really was, at times. Always wishing the best for his sister, though he dared not show it. It was like he didn't want to appear soft, or something. Always worried about his image, though Erich tried not to hold that against him. The front could do all sorts of things to a man, and there was no doubt that Stahl had his own share of misery, judging from both his hand and eye.

"Do you think?" He asked, an eyebrow cocked as he did, "You don't think the others will make fun of me, will they?" He jested, of course, though he could have his fun.

"Then there's no need to fear any," he mused, looking to the room for a moment before returning his concentration to Thistle, "... knowing that I have you here. I doubt even the hordes of the Kobold could stop such a fearsome foe." He, of course, hoped that his squadron wouldn't be called up for combat, even in their relative safety in the Inner Empire. To have such done would decimate poor Alke, even though he knew that she would wish him the best. A few moments of silence ensued, savoring the warmth of her presence, before he spoke, "... I do love you, Alke."

The thought struck him rather immediately, but it was a good one, no doubt. His heart rose at the suggestion, that she wished to have a family with him, and he looked to her with a smile. Though he likely didn't know what was in store for him, he could think of no one else with whom he would ever wish it, "I wouldn't have it any other way. But I wont have you letting them chew on each other's ears."

Certainly not, after all, look at what such abandon had produced in the woman before him? For all he knew, his own children would go off to ensnare someone as mercilessly as she had him.

"All the more reason to watch out!" He answered with a grin, knowing how his wife thought. She was still rather centered, despite her generous nature as a spouse, about herself. Drawing her closer at such a thought, he mused that he was married to something of an egocentric xeno.

And he loved it.

The thought of children though, how it excited him! Though it was odd, Thistle unable to conceive as of yet, and he always tried to think of some explanation for it, getting only vague answers from his wife when he inquired. "We'll certainly have no issue with the permits... if only those years would pass as quickly." Erich returned her smile, placing his forehead against hers as he did, "They'll be beautiful, like you."

One of his hands found its way to her hair, as it usually always did, and ran his thumb through its swarthy body as he rubbed his nose against her, though his eyes were forced open and a sly grin came to his face with her last suggestion. Her usually naive nature only helped emphasize things when she held such desires, and almost every time it managed to surprise him. "Four years," he mused as he leaned in to kiss her, "is a very long time, after all."

He would be sure to do his part this night, after all, she was his wife, and it would certainly reflect poorly on him were it that he left her longing. She had no COFFIN to give her peace of mind for the duration of his training.

With a tug and a mock groan on his end, he pretended to begrudgingly go with her, standing slowly as he allowed his eyes to venture. The two weeks might be harder than he initially though, but... he could manage. He was, after all, Lord Brenner, and how could he dare return in shame to a home with her in it? "It will be some time..." He sighed, offering her the same sly look before he gave chase in earnest. She would make the instructors and the drill worth it.

It had become a regular ritual in his home, coming home from work, to bring his children something nice. At least a treat of some kind, Kampf knew they deserved it so. Of course, he had learned quickly not to use the word present, for fears of getting their hopes up, but he still considered it just as much.

After all, if you got one of them a present, you had to give all of them one.

Clad in his uniform he entered, the stone grey wool blending in with the sidewalk outside and a stark contrast to the decoration that his wife had insisted the place enjoy after purchasing it. Just as with every day, the man's heart itched to find them, where ever they were; and so he lent his feet an air of urgency, approaching the room he shared happily with Alke, if only to dispose of some of his trappings.

Already the man smiled, happy to watch, if only for a moment, as he sat down his hat. They were all beautiful, each in their own way, the man sighing as he watched. She did so love them, just as much, if not more, than he did - though he wouldn't know it possible how if that was the case. Erich stepped forward at just the right moment, moving to seize his wife with a kiss and help the children escape.

"Run while you can!" He called with a smile and a chuckle, looking to the products of the young couple's love as he rubbed his cheek against hers.

"They haven't been too much trouble, have they?" Asked her husband, smiling still at their affection, the man proving to still be overwhelmed by their love. He always made sure to ask if they had been good, it had a direct correlation with their treats, of course. There was, however, no competition with whom he picked up first, leaning down to raise Liese up, who fought behind the others for his attention, even if she had to do no such thing. The Belkan balanced her on his hip, giving, though he wouldn't outright admit it, his favorite a kiss on her forehead as he hugged her.

Namely because she was the spitting image of her mother.

"Let's sit, shall we?"

"I'm sorry that I had to miss out, love." A hand moved to place itself atop hers, the thumb lightly stroking her knuckles as it did. "But... I think I might can make up for it." He grinned, rather devilishly as he looked back to the children. "Who here wants to run and get daddy's briefcase? You have to promise not to open it."

He'd already moved Liese around to rest in his lap, lightly rubbing her arm before pressing another light kiss on her head.

"There's something waiting for you inside, since your mother says you've been good."

The sight of Kaiser's independence ushered a chuckle from his father as well, who gladly played along with Alke's joke. "Indeed, they're getting to be quite a handful aren't they?" Of course, he wouldn't dare send one. He and Thistle were so incredibly lucky, incredibly so. Six wonderful children, each one a blessing from the Emperor himself.

"We'll just have to talk about it, won't we dear?" He teased, of course, bumping her shoulder playfully. Brenner didn't have much time, however, with Kaiser arriving back rather quickly; his father accepting the canvas bag with a nod and a proper 'thank you, sir', a small thing he tried his hardest to impress on the little ones.

The grin was barely suppressed as he reached within, however, part of him eager to simply hand them out at random, but he knew better. "Since you took the lead, Kaiser, you get yours first." With a father's pride did he hand the boy a rather durable die-cast model of the Koeppen Schleife he flew, a mottled grey camouflage scheme upon it. There awaited one for each of the boys, each with its own camouflage scheme so as not to get them mixed up. Happily did he impart them to such strong young men, waiting until that was done before moving on.

"And I have something special for you two." The twins soon received figures of noble women, though he soon unbuttoned a pocket on his tunic, taking out small flowers, likely picked from a street-side garden, to place in their hair - the man waiting to slip the last one into Alke's accompanied by a kiss.

"They reminded me of my girls."

The sight did warm his heart, knowing how he played just as happily as a child. His smile was tempered with a hint of longing, however, knowing that his father bought him his first toy plane as well. A pity, that. Erich sighed at the thought, preferring to concentrate on something much more pleasant, little Liese sitting and playing with her doll, instead.

"Only because I've been tempered by an amazing woman, lady Brenner." Returning the kiss on her cheek. "I thought they would like something special today." His hand still lay on hers, the other soon moving to flank Liese, sitting about his knee.

"How are Stahl and Nix?"

Erich frowned slightly at that news, prompting his question, "I hope she's not ill. I know how you and Stahl take to sickliness..." Not to mention how he feared his little ones might too. It was good that his mother was coming by, though, the children needed to see their grandmother, not to mention he would enjoy their distracted attention, if only for a little while.

The man leaned so that his shoulder would rest against hers, sighing as he did. "They're not upset are they? I know that things have been tense with the build-up, that Stahl might be drawn away."

"Well." He commented, a light sigh with it. "I do hope the results come back positive." Erich certainly did, though he couldn't explain it now, not with the girls here. He'd have to speak with Stahl, if he had the chance. "... hope that everything's alright, and I think it would. They need it." There was no mistaking how she did look at their own children, at times.

Whatever the case, they would try their best to keep Nix in good spirits. "Liese, Winnie? Can you two do daddy a favor?" He asked, looking to his daughters with inquiring eyes. "Next time you see her, tell your aunt Nix that you love her very much." He would brace for the worst, even if he hoped for the best. "And give her a hug." She might need it.
