Horse half is not pink, but is brown.
Personality
Esperanza is a wild, but adoreable child who finds it hard to trust people, having been badly treated by humans. But despite her fear, when she needs food, she will brave human kind to get what her tiny self needs. She has only been alone for a year, and can speak little english.
History
Esperanza was taken from her mother as a young foal babe, and sold to a farmer. She was abused, and not taught to speak for fear with intelligence would come rebellion. But being a brave little girl earned her her freedom, and on one night she escaped through the fence of her enclosure, running and running, as she always has been.
So begins...
Esperanza's Story
Esperanza was hungry. Her tiny tummy growled furiously at her for the neglect, but it had been difficult for her to find food lately! The little centaur girl hid outside, hooves pawing the ground anxiously, if she could just get inside quickly, without being noticed... she could steal some food, and then get out! She clung to the wall with a whimper, her large blue eyes peering around before she edged towards the door, scrawny arms clasped over her bare little chest. She was perhaps three, or four... she didn't know. She never learned to count all the way to ten, and even then, the numbers were never in constant order... never having the chance to be educated was a large problem. As a patron went outside, she hurried to the door, leaning against it to keep it open long enough for her to canter in, hooves making a louder sound on the floor then she expected, and with a frightened shiver she darted for a place to hide, which, for a tiny centaur even, it was hard!
Esperanza was trying to hide behind a table, her body quivering as she looked around at the few humans there, and various other patrons about their business... She looked around some more before she raised her head, sniffing the air, trying to locate food. Once she spotted the storage room, she took a tiny step forward with a clop, then another, before she galloped to the door, leaning against it in her best attempts to push the locked door open. She kept trying, whimpering when the attempt failed then gave it a few swift kicks with her front hooves.
Esperanza's ears perked at little, flicking to the side before she looked at the one giggling at her with wide blue eyes. Then the other spoke, diverting her attention again before she could commence pummeling the door.. She moved back, making a few whinnying sounds in a very cute fashion, before she stomped her hooves, kicking the door again. ¨Foooood...¨ she said, then scraping at the door with her hands, like that would help her goal better when her hooves had failed.
Esperanza ducked down with a gasp, before ever so slowly peeking back up over the counter, head tilted partially in curiousity. She reached a small hand out, hesitated, before poking it and ducking back down a little, ears pressed back with a faint angry whinny. As if the menu would suddenly attack her. ¨Foooood?¨ she said, poking it again, and baring her teeth when it lit up, image showing a meat bun. ¨Ooooh!¨ she said, pressing her face close to it. ¨W...Want!¨ she said, before she smelled the apple, following its path to and from the mouth of the strange woman.
Esperanza caught it, fumbled, and dropped it. She knelt down, dusting it off quickly before devouring it like the starved little creature she was. She was so scrawny, but many three and four year olds were. She hurried to hide behind the counter again, munching and making content sounds. Food food! It was better then the usual leftovers she ate... She was just a child, and by the looks of the faint bruises and patches of dirt dusting her skin and flanks, a wild child.
Esperanza tried to eat as much as she could, even half the core before she looked up at the sound of someone sitting nearby, tilting her head back to look up at him. Her ears moved back a little, and she just froze up. Run, or stay? She wanted to run, but stay she would... ¨F...Fooood....?¨ she asked, before rubbing her cheek, the apple juice smudging the dirt on her cheek and making it darker.
Esperanza watched him go over to a menu, the same device she had been poking with curiousity. She watched him order the food, and when it all came to him, she drooled a little, her stomach rumbling like an animal. With some hesitation she held back when he gestured her over, but the food... her hunger won. She moved closer, her four hooves clopping against the floor, still too loud for her liking, sure that she was going to get yelled at for being too loud. She reached the table, opposite from him, and placed her tiny hands on the tables edge, sniffing, staring at it all with wonder, some of it she had only seen in dumpsters before, or behind glass she could not take... Then, quickly her hand darted out, to grab a sandwich and bring it to her lips, devouring it just as hungrily as half the apple that had been tossed to her, her bright shimmering blue eyes staring over at him. Were those tears?
Esperanza tried to say an english word, recognizing the word talk, and not before she swallowed her mouthful. ¨Food!¨ she exclaimed, then beamed, and swallowed before munching on the sandwich some more. She knew that word well, the farmer had said it before he gave her supper leftovers. She then reached out for a pear, sniffing it before she took a bite, dribbling juice down her chin and onto her chest. In this cool weather, she should have a shirt, but she never could get one.
Esperanza tilted her head mid munch, hearing the foreign word. The farmer had said that too, when he put her in the enclosure with the horses. But she never wanted to go back there, even if the horses had been really nice to her.. ¨Uuuuh... no. No ho...home.¨ she said, shaking her head quickly. She moved just a tiny few steps closer to him.
Esperanza could understand what he said, replying was another matter for the four year old. ¨Warm... cloth?¨ she said, patting her tiny flat chest, making dirty hand prints on her skin. She seemed to have a thin coating of dust all over. Almost immediately she went back to finishing her pear, though it was clear she was starting to get full, not eating as feverishly fast as before.
Esperanza blinked, and he was gone! She looked around timidly, where did he go! He had been right there across the table... then gone! She lowered down a little bit, turning around slowly, ears lowering as she saw not a trace of him in any place she looked. Slowly she moved under the table, folding her legs so she could sit, clutching the support in the middle with a whimper. That was kind of... scary.
Esperanza was clinging to the middle support of the table, and as she felt abandoned, in this strange big place, she started to cry, making the table wobble a little. He was nice, and not scary at all! And in a room full of big scary people, she didn't feel safe at all! The little centaur never stayed in a place like this after she got food, she only stayed because he had talked to her, and made her trust she was safe to stay.
Esperanza's eyes widened when she heard him speak, seeing his familiar face, and she scooted closer, grabbing onto his legs like a normal, and usually upset, little child did. ¨Stay.¨ she begged quietly, her bottom lip wobbling as she tilted her head to look back up at him, sniffing loudly.
Esperanza whinnied softly at the attention, though it was clearly not like a real horse, just her small impression. She could speak horse, but not very good english. Satisified he wasn't going to just disappear again, she let go and shuffled herself out from under the table, stablizing herself on her front hooves, and then her back once she was out, moving around the bags. She poked one, before she oved her head close, gave it a sniff, and reached her human hands out to slip inside. ¨Cloth!¨ she said, pulling out what her hands touched.
Esperanza was just pulling the blue sweater out of the bag when she heard Illisius call her over. Dropping it back into the back she trotted back over to him, her eyes following where he had glanced before she saw the strange, and highly frightening creature that was Timo. ¨Waaah!¨ She grabbed onto him, hiding her face against his side. It wasn't so much the gelatinous exterior... as it was the sharp and strangely red teeth!
Esperanza didn't dare peek, burying her little face into his side just focusing on taking deep breaths. ¨...O-Okay...¨ she said, her back hooves clopping a little as she shuffled a tiny bit. She forgot about the bags for the meantime..
Esperanza looked up at him, wiping her eyes, before turning to following his pointing finger to Kaide. Her large blue eyes flickered between the two a few times, and deciding to be a little brave, she took one step away, then trotted over to Kaide, her hooves clopping on the floor as she came to a halt near the man, not close, but close enough. She said not a word, she didn't know if she could trust him yet.
Esperanza tilted her head cutely, rubbing her dirt smudged cheek before clopping her left front hoof at him, whinnying something before smiling a little. Then she started to move back to Illisius, stopping when she heard a single word. ¨Vam...p...Vamp-ire..?¨ she said, starting to fidget. She had only seen one from afar before, with a screaming woman, and she hadn't stayed around to watch the rest.
Esperanza stared back for a few moments, before whatever apprehension she had been feeling dissolved, and she trotted over to him, hugging him again. He had been nothing but kind to her, and she was so very sure he wasn't going to hurt her like that other vampire she had seen in her travels.
Esperanza looked up at him, mouth slightly agape. How did he know her name? She looked over to the two talking about her, knowing the word centaur to explain what she was. She then looked back to Illisius, pointing to where the bags were. ¨D...Daddy... cloth?¨ she said, speaking so innocently, and already, so clearly attached.
