'Magic is either learned by those who did not possess the talent or is innately born to the world through either blood or other strange circumstances. Ancient doors swung wide open to the old realm of forbidden knowledge. Though Iron Lich strode into the main foyer and through another set of doors only to gaze upon countless tomes with glowing green orbs and ambitions far beyond the comprehension of many a mortal.

"Through me these varied tomes shall be consumed. To sate my ever growing hunger...."

The Iron Lich strode ever further into the vast accursed library. Every step it took found the accompanying clack of its ebon cane against the cold floor. Monsters and men have all tried to gain power through dark rituals, vile experiments, and evil pacts with demons and strange outsiders but not Ezvin. No the Iron lich had other plans in mind than the standard tropes that seemed to curse those in such a lesser station.

With Mechanical fingers bound by leather gloves the Lich began to trace several runes in the air before him. Every step it took more and more runes filled the air before the Lich only to wipe them away allowing the magic to take root. Every book upon the shelves to his left and right began to disintegrate into ash which quickly flowed into the undead mechanical abomination.

Ezvin La Roux took in the new knowledge and sorted through what was needed and what was considered useless. The Lich for all intents and purposes for those who would stumble across him appeared like a dapper gentleman with a mechanical and skeletal figure beneath.

As ash rained down a small wham against a high bookshelf rang out as one tome wriggled in surprise as it fell backward onto a shelf into ashes. Thurirl wasn't a book. Not really. The artifact creature was a product of necromantic fleshcrafting and a powerful individual in its own right. Especially to whom the book belonged left here for safe keeping as he was. The tome wriggled out of the dust and arched high so the single roving eye on his cover could look around. It was taking a nap before finding another book to read and was mildly irritated that they'd all gone missing now.

There was a peculiar repeating sound as the book lept downward across aisles between empty shelves on his way to the floor. Thurirl was looking around to figure out what was going on it wasn't like this library to suddenly vaporize all its books.

'Scootscootscoot Creak .... WHAM!'

The strangely dressed figure continued to move throughout the old library, devouring all literature on the dark and mysterious, green glowing orbs alight with every word that passed through its being only to leave destruction behind it as it moved. It was unaware of something more within the old realm of vellum and ink as it gorged itself on things long thought lost.

'Scootscootscoot Creak .... WHAM!'

Eldritch runes seamlessly formed before the beast causing it to halt as it traced the strange symbols into the air. The magic it called upon was older and stranger yet as the construct effortlessly traced its will into the air. From within its chassis hidden behind more metal and fabric a green flame seemed to effortlessly dance as it devoured more and more of the ancient tomes. Its fire feeding on both the knowledge of older and more formidable casters and the special oil that its wick sat atop.

'Scootscootscoot Creak .... WHAM!'

The strange undead abomination opened its mouth once again as it finished tracing the runes and circles needed before it. The air grew cold as magical forces beyond many comprehension seemed to be at work though something seemed to be working against the powers that be. Forcibly the Lich tried to form his words once more as he raised his cane above his head only to slam it back down against the old floor.

"Khepa khepa Ra Asperuk....." The Lich stumbled upon the words as his attention was suddenly turned towards something else within the library. A book that seemed to now sit upon a shelf that was previously empty just moments ago. The beast examined the strange sight before him only to quickly return to his spell he had cast. Sorcery was indeed a fickle thing if left unattended.

"Khepa Khepa Ra Asperuk! Veltories Moxiel Forna Tulshur!"

Its words rang throughout the hall as the spells weaved their purpose into the reality of the world. From old shelves torn asunder to the ground before the Iron Lich reshaping into a strange doorway. It seemed as if the portal took on a more physical appearance than one that would be metaphysical in nature.

Thurirl had to sit down for a moment after leaping between book stacks. The wood was comfortable against the red dragonscale of his cover even with the metal lock that itched at his cover. Once he leveraged to his feet at the noise of crashing bookshelves Thurirl's green eye looked down on the Lich and his new doorway. Another Lich? Thurirl rolled his eye it figures another one of those would do that to so many books. He already had to put up with one as it was but he supposed the lich knew where to get more. New ones to read at least though Thurirl sampled some of the more interesting ones by now. He wondered if the Lich would appreciate some new reading material. Some curious little books couldn't speak then a spellbook didn't need to. Thurirl's lower eyelid rose in amusement as it wrote a spell onto an empty surface in its mind. The patterns colored themselves onto the thick work layers that served as the venue of his thoughts.

Magic had its peculiarities and where a spell is etched onto reality the draconic used in its creation voiced itself, ((Bekiw de wer ricin vur relgra sari tobor.))

The creation spell materialized a book verbatim into existence complete with metal covers and flung it at the Lich. It was a book of lurid nursery rhymes written in infernal still just as slimy unpacking the thing as when Thurirl first read the words.

The doors before the Iron Lich would open slowly and right as they came to open fully their was a sudden thud.

The Lich stopped and suddenly looked down at a book that landed upon the ground but not before it struck his head and removed his hat. Ezvin was shocked and most of all flabbergasted as his concentration snapped and the portal closed suddenly before him. This thing flung at him was a book he had seen before, something from his past, and it infuriated him beyond any mortals comprehension! First thing though he needed his hat. Simply bending over and picking it up was not enough as the lich dusted it off and placed it back a top its proper place.

"You shouldn't have done that...." Ezvin muttered in a strange mechanical tone. His fingers went to work upon the air crafting rune after rune whilst turning his attention towards the direction of the assailant who seemed like he was invisible. The Iron Lich would have never considered the lone book upon the shelf.

"Khepa Khepa Ra Asperuk......" His words seemed to draw power from the air as the runes began to glow ominously in the air.

Draconic script manifested in thin air as mist as the voice cast an illusion spell from above. His voice was a thing of harsh draconic script as elegant as one could expect to make such a thing. [Vaporizing all the books in a library, honestly. You should be surprised noone's thrown the book at you before now. Do they not teach new lich manners these days?]

Another spell shot off from above this time in a long lob the crudely leatherbound textbook bounced off the floor then came to rest. The text was in Loross from an acolyte's bag read long ago. The Netherese textbook's title translated loosely to 'Arcanist Etiquette' citing some long lost name and wasn't quite notable enough for actual copies to have survived the apocalypse that Karsus's Folly wrought on their society.

The Iron Lich looked up at the creation of the words only to lower his spell.

"The books knowledge was transferred to my consciousness. They found use instead of sitting in this dusty old tomb...." The Lich continued to look up to the strange text only to dismiss the spell entirely. "Any who've tried to assault me only fill my need to survive. Doubtless they would never last as long as you have, my invisible confidant..."

Ezvin took several steps towards his strange assailant who was still unknown to him. The Lich glanced at the shelf before him and then at the book was tossed at him.

The script cleared as Thuril penned a new response, [Well at least they're not gone then. I thought you were one of those degenerates burning whole libraries down because a few necromantic books have naked humans and demons in it.]

Another of that same shuffling noise came as Thurirl multi-tasked. That leaning book on a shelf perked backward then inchwormed out of sight. A hurried start later Thurirl leapt across tall arcane shelving to another still closer to the floor. The writing continued, [Sharing what's in your head was a harder thing in ages past. I do it the hard way I suppose but then I read for pleasure. What rare bit of lore do you need to survive that a whole library becomes a part of the mind?]

"I've grown far beyond what mortal men can comprehend." Ezvin retorted only to conjure his cane to hand and turn away to look back at the failed portal he had attempted to create. It was pitiful that such a distraction would cause him this kind of failure but the conversation was a nice touch instead of harvesting energy and soul alike to keep him mobile.

As for the next bit of text the Lich could only chuckle. The strange bit of pages being ruffled and the odd thumping sounds did not get the Iron Lich attention. "What I need from this library is not something I think is worth sharing. I also read for the pleasure but this was a milk run."

A last whump let Thurirl onto the stone floor where the center of the book arched his upward to see. Thurirl pivoted his green eye sideways the whole of the book scooting across the floor to the far side of the portal. The writing vanished from near the iron lich as Thurirl distended its middle slightly to prop up on end more large text above him, [I do try to stay out of the hands of the humans at least. That's fair enough you lich can have secrets all your own. As if it's all the same to you I'd prefer not to get another clamp holding things in.]

Thurirl's gleaming eye roved around the aborted structure. Thurirl tipped over backward to inch closer to the wood to poke it with a stretched corner. He added to the text, [Apologies for interrupting your portal. I do hate to ruin an elegant spell. Do you need an interlocutor manual to overlay it? Making these books is tiring but I do think I have half a druidic one will work.]

The eye rolled backward away from its current apex, [At least Ogma's endless whispering is good for something.]

Lady Aleistasiya moved, dancing as she spun in perfectly executed flawless pirouettes, gliding nigh weightless through the air. A small tome and a tiny codex suspended ever within reach of her. She moved gracefully, continuously humming irrhythmically and off key, repeatedly playing only a single chord at a time on a finely crafted lyre of carved bone and obsidian. In the presence of so much literary knowledge, every part of her swelled with the secrets they might hold within their aged and worn pages, the scent of vellum and papyrus filling the atmosphere. The sounds of her strange macabre dirge carried on the breeze like winds of her silvered wings, down the isles of shelves, echoing off the stone walls through the center of such lore.
