It wasn't long before a being seemed to drop from the sky. It landed on the ground in the square sending a cloud of dust to rise into the air.

When it began to settle, one could begin to make out the shadow of a person, unusually bigger in size rising to their feet.

There was a sound, similar to the one made when un raveling a blanket, and soon the shadow sprouted great, dark wings. With a flap the dust was blown away, and in front of Fei, staring at her through the shadow of a helmet's visor, was a being she may have been familiar with.

A Fallen.

It took a moment to look to it's left, and to it's right before centering it's attention on the witch once more.

Fei froze, looking up at the dark being before her.

And oh, she sighed.

"This is a joke, right? A fucking joke? I can't get a break this week? You serious?" She stood up from the fountain, adjusting her bodice with her thumb. "So who're you? Listen, I never dated angels, so I don't think I got beef with you. So how about we quit the pretty theatrics, alright? Just go on your way." She shooed him away with her hands, fluttering them. "Go on! Tauvyr is that way! Have yourself a drink-"

Her hands ignited in blue flame, and she leaped for the angel.

"-and GET SMASHED!"

The Fallen only stood and watched as Fei went on a rant. It said not a word in reaction nor did it move to protect itself when she launched her assault.

"Confirmed."

In the blink of an eye a barrier of black light was erected between Fei and the Fallen. Behind the witch upon the heads of the dragons statues stood and sat several more beings that looked exactly like the one she had attacked.

Fei smashed into the barrier, but not as ungracefully as she had once upon a time. Her arms and knees had been poised out before her to absorb the hit, and though she was still in pain, it was easy to ignore. She fell to the ground, the Victorian dress burning away to reveal the white hoodie and thigh length boots that she had donned for the past few days.

She could hear the others behind her, as their feathers gently swayed in the magical pulse that she expelled from her center, which pushed a wind out with it.

"Yeah, okay, so what's this, huh? I get the attention of some council or somethin'? This is so much bullshit..."

Three of the Fallen on the statues raised their arms with palms out stretched towards Fei. A moment later a bolt of dark magic shot from them and screamed towards the witch.

The one that she had attacked did the same, launching a pincer attack.

"Do you think we should've told her why?" One of the Fallen who abstained in their attack suggested.

"Do you really think it will be that easy?" Asked the other.

Fei backed up, and did a quick dash to her right before the dark magic was able to reach her. Raising one hand, she let the piece's of her great grandfather's gauntlet collect around her fingers into dangerous claws. She had not brought it out in a very long time.

Everything until this point in time was play.

This was real.

The fire around Fei grew into a burning tower, the energy so free, so powerful, it fluttered her clothes and hair, and let out another pulse toward the angels.

"Not today."

Now standing just outside the tavern, David quickly scanned the area in search for the source of the disturbance he'd noticed earlier. His gaze fell upon the girl near the center of the square and the dozen-or-so winged winged creatures that surrounded her. The scarlet-haired woman had successfully evaded the creatures' attacks and now prepared to launch one of her own it seemed, erecting a pillar of intense flames around herself.

"Are those what I think they are?" His eyes narrowed in suspicion. They looked a lot like Angels, but he always thought they were a myth; not because it was hard to believe, but because he had never seen one for himself. Hell if people as strong as himself could exist, why couldn't Angels exist as well?

"All of you to take down one girl? That doesn't seem very fair to me." He made sure his statement was loud enough for everyone to hear. "Now I'd hate to get involved with whatever you've got going on here, so I suggest you drop it." He hoped that his words were taken to heart, but something told him that they weren't a diplomatic bunch.

The Fallen had not predicted Samaritans, surely the one they were after had an infamous reputation to discourage any such actions. According to what they'd been told only one was foolish enough to take her side. They concluded that they had overestimated her status.

While they had not predicted Samaritans, they weren't necessarily unprepared. As Fei's second pulse fluttered their wings the goup of Fallen stood stoically as they re-assessed the situation. There were ten of them in total, their numbers a redundancy in order to deal with situations just like this. The target was clear, their objective known only to them. Clearly they were hostile, and they surely weren't about to back down.

The singled out Fallen who had been the initiator spoke quickly and curtly.

"Seven, Contain. Three, proceed."

There was a communal nod from the others as they stretched their wings. The initator whipped his left arm to his side, and instantly a blade of what looked like dark magic enveloped his arm. Five of the others did the same, while the other four shot into the sky.

Three of the swordsman lunged through the air at David, the other two that stood on the fountain moved to attack Fei. The initiator also attacked from her Flank, wings spread sharply behind him.

"Get out! LEAVE!" Fei screamed at the two who had come upon the scene. "Run as far away as you can!"

She didn't have much time to warn them. The Fallen were upon her, and she could only just cloak herself and leave behind an illusion of a clone as she sprinted off towards the gates.

Get them away from Verinotte, get away, can't put people in danger. Fucking dammit! Who are these losers!?

"I'm over here!" she screamed as she scurried away from the scene, waving her hands at the angels. She stuck her tongue out and blew a raspberry at them. "Dumbass pansyflappers!"

As Aldarine walked up behind David, she spotted the Fallen above swooping down at them. The fingers of her right hand grasped her necklace, and she rose her left out at the winged attackers, drawing power from within herself and focusing it using the pendant. She released it with just a few words.

"Slow down."

The air in front of her and David shimmered, and should the Fallen swoop into it, they would find their momentum all but halted, and their movements sluggish.

The momentum spell cast by Aldarine would prove helpful if the Fallen got caught in its grasp, but it wasn't necessary for what he planned to do. The mutant balled his hand into a fist and punched forward, projecting a powerful telekinetic burst in the angels' direction. There was nothing pretty about the display, no fine control or precision. What he lacked in control he made up for in raw telekinetic power. If the Fallen were caught in the wide net of his attack, they'd be hit with a force powerful enough to level an entire housing district.

David eyed the girl as she attempted to run away from the battle. He couldn't risk letting the her get away so these things could hunt her down, it would defeat the purpose of getting involved in the first place. Despite his desire to go after her, he didn't want to leave his new companion either. There was only one rational option.

"Go after the girl while I deal with these guys." he said to Aldarine.

The three fallen that had charged David were blown away, crashing against the ground before spreading their wings to halt their loss of ground. But almost as soon as they had been attacked, the others that had flown above the battlefield had released attacks of their own in the form of black energy bolts screaming through the air at their intended targets.

Several were aimed primarily for David, as he seemed to pose the biggest threat to the completion of their objective, but none escaped from the sights of this barrage. Not Aldarine, nor Fei once she revealed herself.

And while the airborne fallen launched their attack, the swordsmen on the ground recovered their focus and moved to re-engage their respective targets.

"I am not a fighter," said Aldarine, raising the pendant at one of the angels who had fallen from her spell. It shined brightly, so much so that the light melted from it and shot out at the fallen angel. He was in for a rude smack if he didn't move from it. The light imbued one with a curse. This one was paranoia, and the witch could only hope the angel's mind was weak enough that he'd see his own comrades as enemies to fight. "I don't think I can catch up to her, either. If you want to leave, do so. I can at least protect myself."

Fei, meanwhile, had run off out of Verinotte, her speed incredible. A faint trail of light followed her, then faded gradually. It was purposeful, completely so.

Fei had lead the angels that had followed her into the Forbidden Thick, well away from Verinotte and any people that may have been in danger. Normally, she wouldn't have cared, but something inside was nagging her. "This must be a conscience, huh?" grumbled the witch, grasping at the center of her chest. "Annoying as shit."

She turned around, still running, as she searched the thick tops of the trees for the fallen, knowing she could not run forever. She flicked her wrist to the side, hand adorned in the rebuilt pieces of her grandfather's old gauntlet. It rarely ever did speak to her like it did to Gaunt, but she could feel its hunger that day.

"Come on... where are they!"

A black bolt of energy screamed through a tree's canopy towards Fei, while another shot came from the ground below. The first had been aimed to strike her, while the second instead crashed into a tree well behind her, causing a chunk of the trunk to explode into violent splinters. The tree fell quickly and if things went according to plan, it would cut off her escape.

Through the tops of the trees three of the fallen burst, while four more seemed to glide along the ground at an amazing pace.

Fei was able to leap to the side as the first bolt came, just barely dodging it. The splinters of the tree scraped and embedded themselves into her skin, drawing blood. With a grunt, Fei took off toward the three Fallen gliding along the ground, right hand glowing with blue flames, the other covered with the wicked claws. However, just before she would come into contact with them, she separated from her illusionary clone and leaped into the air above the fallen to send down a barrage of burning mana orbs.

Before she was able to release the fifth shot, a rush of air was her only warning as the lead fallen in the air simply tried to tackle Fei. He would drive his shoulder into her abdomen, wrapping her waist with both arms in a vice as he tried to spear both itself and her down to the earth below.

The two other flyers would streak after them, and the others on the ground would proceed through the settling debris.

One of them however, had to rip a small tree limb out of his forearm before giving chase.

"Agh!"

Caught in the grip, Fei was all but helpless as they plummeted to the ground. She was a quick thinker, though, and quick to react. She had been fighting this long. She wouldn't stop now because of a few scrapes.

In fact...

Reaching for her own neck, Fei drew a line from her chest down, piercing the skin and allowing her to bleed freely. As they hit the ground, a tremendous amount of blood flew up in spikes to pierce the fallen who'd grabbed her, hardened into large icicles.

The Fallen swarmed the crash site instantly, the four on the ground surrounding the area while the two above remained in the air.

There seem to be a communal pause between them as they regarded the carnage from the crash. One of the larger fallen on the ground tilted his head slightly as two sharp blue "eyes" began to glow dimly in the blackness of his visor.

"Casualty report: One wounded, one fatality."

The impaled fallen was limp, it's arm hanging uselessly at it's side. It took a couple seconds, but the corpse seem to fracture and break apart, and fei would be showered in some sort of combination of ink and blood. The oily refuse sprayed forth profusely before the corpse was drained, when it then simply began to dissolve.

One of the airborne fallen revealed it's "eyes" and stared at the one on the ground.

"Request to deploy 'Seer'. " It asked urgently.

"Granted." Came the response.

"Denied!"

Rocketing from her spot on the ground like a bullet was the snarling witch, aimed for the flying fallen who had made the request. As she flew, she spun a ring of blood around her, the outer rims made of sharpened ice, like a giant chakram.

The attacked fallen guarded himself against Fei's assault, his arm itself had become a dark black blade of magic, hard like steel, yet the edges seem to have a 'flow' to them.

The other Fallen retaliated charging at Fei with their blades ready at their sides.

One remained on the ground, the one whom the request had been made to. He reached a hand out slightly, before stabbing himself in the shoulder with it. There was not even a grunt of pain as he seemed to reach deep within himself. THe 'eyes' of his visor flared blue and he pulled out what he had searched for.

The seer.

It shone bright gold, like a small sun in his claws. As it glowed blindingly the Fallen began to recite;

" So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them..."

The seer flared and bathed the shadows in light and lit the forest as if it were aflame.

The witch wasn't so deterred from the block, and instead of persisting with the same attack, changed it up from a singular blade to several knives that spun out behind him, trying to catch him off guard.

As the light passed by her, however, the knives of blood fell to the ground, as did the witch, crumpled into a ball with a scream. She clasped her hands around her chest, closing the wound there with coagulated blood, until finally the light drained away the magic she had been using drained away. The orange of her hair faded to brown, and every scar and bruise and all her wounds became that much more apparent.

The Guardians circled, and the one that seemed to be leading stepped closer to Fei than the others. They seemed to have less of a fierce appearance however. The black shadows that seem to be a part of them had simply faded away, leaving only the bone white frames of their bodies.

"The Seer sees what is unholy and banishes it. Your power is cursed and evil, and will not come to you in the light of the seer. We, are fallen, but we were once holy. We will now destroy you."

The Fallen's blade which were once a murky black were now ivory, but they held a vicious looking edge regardless.

Tears leaked out of her eyes, but the witch couldn't do a thing. She was deathly pale, covered in her own blood from head to toe in splinters. She was already close to death.

"I'll come back... and kill all of you once I get out of hell."

There was a laugh from several of the fallen, but the leader glared and they were silence.

"I suppose I could at least inform you of your fate." He said flatly as he raised his blade over her neck.

"There will be no 'getting out of hell' that is why we are here. Hell is going to war, the souls sent there are either turned into creatures of evil designed to fight against heaven, or simply eaten and destroyed. Rest assured your death here is quite permanent, you will not be returning to this world."

"Now, prepare yourself." There was a moment before the blade swung down aimed to hack her head off cleanly.

There was a loud pop, and the leading fallen was struck in the shoulder. His blade jerked off course and only sliced Fei with a shallow cut on her arm.

More pops followed and David walked steadily forward firing at the fallen until his revolver's chamber was empty.

"Jaeda hurry up and get out here!"
