A man walks into the bar wearing a waist coat and a pocket watch. The soldiers by the door raise their weapons to aim towards his head. His steely blue eyes flash steadily around the room, finally landing on the gun barrel a foot from his head. "Excuse me," he says plainly over the firearm to the soldier. Glancing at a slip of paper in his hand he asks "Do you know where I can find Kali?"

"Kali...?" the soldier repeated.
"Nevermind. And put that gun down for God's sake. The Pope of Mars is about to walk through that door", the man said, gesturing to the front bar door from which he had emerged only moments ago "and I don't want a weapon to be the first thing he sees." The soldiers both lowered their weapons in their surprise.
"Well?", the man continued. "Don't look so sloppy! Stand at attention! Be facing him when he comes in!" Obeying the orders, the soldiers snapped to attention and faced the door, turning their backs to the stranger. After a moment one said quietly "The Pope of Mars...?" turning to look back at the man who'd delivered the news, he found that he had already disappeared through the door to the basement.
