Gabriella 'Gabi' Sanders

0 · 277 views · located in End Of The Beach

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Celedia

Description

Name: Gabriella 'Gabi' Sanders
Race: Human
Age: 24
Gender: Female

Appearance: Image

Class: Soldier/Merc
Powers: Knows every weapon and how to handle it. Now if only she had the money to afford them all.....
Skills: Can handle most any weapon she comes across. Prefers guns/ranged weapons: Assault Rifles, Heavy Weapons, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Submachine Guns. From her past acquaintances, she has also picked up on two strange abilities. First of which is lockpicking and the second of which is coercion.
Equipment: M-12 Locust (SMG), M-5 Phalanx (Heavy pistol), Plasma Shotgun.

Personality: Gabi has a 'devil may care' attitude. She doesn't have techie or biotic shields to hide behind so more than likely she'll rush into any situation with guns blazing and then try to get the info needed from the corpses. Needless to say, this hasn't worked too well for her in the past. She acts like one of the guys, hates idiots and jerks and can drink most anyone under the table unless they cheat by being a different race and thus, are able to hand liquor that would disintergrate her insides. Unfair.

Biography: Gabi comes from Elysium on the Skyllian Verge and that background alone has proven to harden her character. The Skyllian Verge was the site of both Batarian and Human colonization and thus, many of the human colonies were targeted by pirates and slavers. One such assault happened when Gabi was all of 12 years old. A small slaver ship manned by only about a dozen Batarians tried to kidnap some children from their colony, successfully taking Gabi and a few children around her age and leaving casualties such as her father and older brother. Assuming that the children were of no harm to them, the Batarians left them locked loosely in cages in the hold and one of the kids, Milo, was adept at lockpicking, easily breaking them free where they stealthily slipped further into the ship, stealing weapons wherever they could find them and murdering every single one of the Slavers. Though they were unable to fly back home, they did manage to contact an Alliance ship who swiftly ferried them back to their planet. With the loss of the rest of their family, Gabi and her mother ended up moving to the Citadel where her mother worked as a bartender at one of the Lounges and they remained there until Gabriella was old enough to set out on her own.

So begins...

Though with her shoulders held back in such a way that Gabi seemed confident and she appeared to strut into the bar… In reality, she was injured and the odd gait was the young woman’s attempt at covering a limp. No need to alarm anyone. It was just a graze and in Gambit’s she had seen the two reactions given to someone that was injured. Either the patrons inside would huddle around the wounded in some half-ass attempt to play nurse or the predators would smell the blood and begin circling her, thinking she was weak.

Either way, she didn’t want the attention so she hobbled/strutted/sashayed to the bar with her jaw set until she found an empty barstool and then she brought her foot up on the seat next to her, peeling up the leg to her pants so she could see where the bullet had grazed. A bartender rolled by, eyes widening and Gabi simply smirked at him in response. “Look!” she gestured to the shallow laceration with a smirk as she affected her best British accent, “It’s just a flesh wound!” Snickering to herself, the amusement faded and she got a bit more serious. “Honestly. I’m fine. Can I get some high proof alcohol and some rolled gauze? Or a medkit, if ya have one.”

The bartender wandered off, leaving Gabi alone with her thoughts for a few minutes while he either ran off to hide in a corner or to fetch the supplies that she requested. Either way, she contented herself with letting her gaze wander the other patrons and her dark brows raised slightly at the odd little trio that sat on the far side of the bar. A cat woman being interrogated by another girl and a man wielding a sword. She had always heard that the bar housed oddities but she had never really known how true that statement was until now.

So she eavesdropped out of boredom more than curiosity and when the bartender finally strolled back her way, clutching a small first aid kit, she tried her best not to look pissed as she smiled at him. Her comrades always told her that she always looked angry even when she was trying to be pleasant and it was something she had been trying to work on…. Kind of. “Thanks, doll. Now can I have a drink too?” The man glanced at the holo menu then back at Gabi, his eyes still wide but when she looked up after his brief pause, he scurried off again, snatching a bottle of amber rum from the shelf and setting it onto the counter in front of her before rushing off once more. Snickering again, Gabi set about tending her leg.

Somehow, it seemed, Gabi had missed the gigantic snake-like-man-thing that was sitting at the end of the bar piling up shot glasses like a house of cards. Good thing he seemed intoxicated beyond belief or she would have to seriously question her survival instincts at the moment. Her wound was now cleaned up and antibiotic ointment dabbed sparingly onto the cut before she took the roll of gauze and wrapped it around her leg a few times, tucking the end into itself to secure it enough for her to walk on.

No jobs for at least a couple of days until the wound healed, at least.

As soon as that thought flitted through her head, armed people began pouring into the building though Cashmere was the only one that she actually noticed. A pistol at her hip, the other woman didn’t seem very threatening but Gabi knew that looks could be deceiving so she remained wary. The medkit slid across the counter so the bartender could pick it up on his next ‘round and Gabi used the same hand to snatch up the bottle of rum that had been left for her. Taking a deep drink, the soldier spun on her stool and faced out into the rest of the bar with her back against the counter.

Though with her shoulders held back in such a way that Gabi seemed confident and she appeared to strut down the sidewalk… In reality, she was injured and the odd gait was the young woman’s attempt at covering a limp. No need to alarm anyone. It was just a graze and in Wing City she had seen the two reactions given to someone that was injured. Anyone that passed her by would either try to huddle around the wounded in some half-ass attempt to play nurse or the predators would smell the blood and begin circling her, thinking she was weak. That is, the people that reacted at all. Some people in this town were generally apathetic and didn't give a damn what happened or who it happened to.

Making her way down Main Street, she kept her eyes forward and posture locked. On one hand she looked like she could be nice but on the other hand, with all those weapons hanging about her person, she could be trouble.

Guess we're about to find out which it is.

To say that his black mask was a little intimidating was putting it lightly. It reminded Gabi of one of those villains from the superhero movies that she had caught at the local cinema but before she reacted poorly, her common sense kicked in. Why would a villain ask her if she needed help? Although it could be a ploy to make her feel safe so that he could spring on her.

Her dark, kohl-lined eyes narrowed for a moment as she studied him but then she obviously relaxed before taking another look around the area just to see who might be watching.

"Ma'am?!" She asked first, incredulous that someone as young as herself was being called by something that she might called her grandmother's friends. Then a smile twisted her arid lips as she gave the masked man an obvious once-over. "I may be wonky but you...." she trailed off, interrupted by a soft chuckle of amusement, "Nice outfit."

His eyes had caught her notice and for a moment, she wondered if he was purely human. So many of the people roaming around town were super-, meta-, or para-human or another xenos entirely. There were very few straight humans, like her, with no additional powers. Hell, the only 'power' she had was that she was kick ass in a gun fight. Take away her weapons, though, and she was left with nothing.

The alley diagonal to them didn't hold anything of interest but coming down the street from the north was a trio of gangster wannabes. Their type of riffraff was quite common in the rougher areas of the city with their baggy jeans, wifebeaters and beat-up sneakers. A far cry from the all-black ensembles that both Gabi and the masked dude seemed to be wearing.

Still, she didn't see them approaching and as another smile lifted the corners of her mouth, she replied to the masked man. "You can call me Gabi. Or woman. Anything but ma'am, it makes me feel old...." She grumbled a bit, folding her arms across her chest before returning the question, "And what do I call you? Man in the Black Leather Mask?"

"Oddface?" she made it sound more like a question as she tried it out and her nose wrinkled at the moniker. It fit, certaintly, but what an odd name to go by. "So what are you doing with that costume, Oddface? Walk people through the ghetto until they're safe and sound?" What appeared to be a smirk crossed her face quickly before her countenance regained its neutral amusement once more.

As the trio of men passed behind her, they looked over the back of her form before calling out to the masked man. "Nice catch, leatherface! Need some 'elp with 'er?" Raucuous laughter followed them as they continued on but Gabi frowned softly.

"I'm good. I can take care of myself." An odd look crossed through her eyes as she addressed Oddface, "You, on the other hand, should be careful."

"Krex's secret army, eh?" She mused, turning her head to watch the trio of thugs as they walked further and further into the distance. She was still a bit new to the area so she didn't know who was a force to be reckoned with and who was beneath her notice.

Sadly, if she took any jobs that weren't legit, that also meant that this Oddface fellow could be a hinderance. He seemed like a good guy.

"So, what's your deal then? Trying to be a superhero and save all the ladies?"

Gabi laughed. She couldn't help it, this guy was entertaining and had a silver tongue. Too bad he seemed to be a good guy or she'd try convincing him to work with her. Mercs usually wandered about in squads, right? It wasn't like she was a lone assassin or anything. Though she usually only took jobs that sounded 'good', there were a few odd jobs that had unintended consequences. Like the bodyguard gig she had for the politician a year or so ago that ended up beginning an all out war with a race of unarmed people.

Still, she could count herself as good, right?

She responded to the wink by looping her arm through his and pressing the back of her opposite hand to her forehead in a 'Southern belle' manner. "Oh my, good sir! I am so glad that you have come to make sure I descend upon my apartment without getting harmed!" Laughing, she tugged him in the direction of her apartment building. "So, do you only save ladies? What about dudes? Do you also rescue kittens from trees?!"

Gabi shook her head as he admitted to saving kittens in trees as well. Truly good guys never lasted, did they? It was like evil sniffed them out and hunted them down to extinction and for some reason, that made her worry about Oddface. A man she hadn't known until minutes ago.

"So, what about a real job? I assume you do this...." she gestured to his mask, then to the rest of him, "In your free time?"

Gabi laughed and rolled her eyes at his statement. "Justice never takes a break? So let me guess... You're filthy rich ala Batman, am I right? You have nothing to do with your free time other than this..." she gestured to him and his outfit once more but her tone was teasing and playful.

"I have to admit, I'd rather you be a servitor of Justice than turn into a bad guy if you're rich. We have enough bad guys in Wing City as it is."

Sadly, all this information was just making her more intrigued and she silently vowed that when she got back to her apartment she would research this guy. Even if there weren't any articles about Oddface there had to be something about a guy with intense blue eyes, right? Especially if he was rich. A business journal or the paper might have pictures she could peruse.

She listened to his response and as if on cue, as soon as he said that he was "..nothing but good", shots rang out from down a nearby alleyway and a woman screamed in terror.

Gabi stopped and her mouth dropped open as he made her wait while he went and saved the day.

"Wai- what?! I'm not helpless, y'know!" She probably wouldn't save random people without some form of recompense either but this was more of a competitive thing. If he was saving people then she damn well wouldn't just sit there.

Unholstering one of her weapons, she set it on automatic and ran over to the opposite side of the alley, crouching down so that they faced each other. Whispering she said, "They're obviously armed. Did you even think to bring a knife to this gun fight?!"

Down the alley there were two men wearing rather impressive business suits with both of them levelling pistols at a young woman in a blue sundress. She was sobbing hysterically as she kneeled beside the body of another man in more casual clothing that was laying on the ground.

Gabi watched as Oddface disappeared, only to reappear high above the two thugs. His 'signal' was a bit unorthodox but she caught on quickly and as both of the men wheeled around at the sound of his voice, she came around the corner of the alleyway and aimed for her target's leg. A single shot had him crumpling to the ground and she ran towards them, keeping her sights on the man in case he decided to try to fire his gun.

Meanwhile, the woman was now frantic. Screaming her head off as she half pushed/half crawled her way into the far corner of the alleyway away from everyone. When Gabi neared her own perp, she kicked out, dislodging the gun from his hand and sending it skittering across the ground.

Gabi looked at the woman then back at Oddface and wrinkled her nose. Did she look like the type of chick that was good at comforting people?! Her life had been pretty hellacious and no one had ever comforted her so why should she bestow the same upon anyone else?

Still, she felt bad after having those thoughts and she pointed to the man on the ground that the woman had been sobbing over. "Maybe check to see if he needs medical attention?" She shot a 'look' at Oddface before walking to the woman in the blue dress.

"Shh.. It's ok. We got them, there's nothing to be afraid of anymore." She holstered her gun so she didn't look as dangerous and continued to slowly near the woman until she could awkwardly pat her on the shoulder.

At Oddface's diagnosis, the woman that Gabi had tried to comfort began sobbing louder. Large shudders racked the poor woman's body and Gabi didn't seem to know how to handle her so she shot Oddface another look before she began to root around in her pockets. Withdrawing something that looked akin to an Epipen, Gabi slammed it into the woman's thigh and the sedative caused the woman's eyes to roll back in her head before she collapsed.

Gabi caught the lighter weight woman easily and lowered her to the ground, shrugging when Oddface looked towards them.

"Should we call the police?"

Gabi's lips formed into an 'o' of surprise and she cast a look once more at the slumbering woman and deceased male before hooking her arm through Oddface's once more. They stepped over the corpses of the two thugs and part of Gabi wanted to flip through their wallets to look for IDs to see just who in the hell they were but she decided against it. Fingerprints all over the wallets of a couple of dead men would probably be a bad idea. Yet, she couldn't help but wonder why two relatively well dressed men would attack that couple. Mafia? Was there even a mafia in this town?

She seemed distracted as they made their way back onto the street and the walk wasn't much longer until her apartment building came into sight. Gabi gestured to it, then smiled though the emotion didn't quite reach her eyes. "I'm in that one, Garden Peaks Plaza."

"Ah. Prince Charming or Oddface? One nickname regarding your personality, the other your costume." She teased him again over his leather mask, incling her head towards him in way of thanks as she went through the door that he held open for her.

"Until next time. If you ever get into any trouble that you can't handle, come find me. Ok?" She returned his wink and laughing, started up the stairs on the way to her apartment.

Dressed more comfortably today than she was normally, Gabi Sanders wandered up to the door of the Master's Dojo and shifted from foot to foot uncomfortably. She was unused to asking for help but in the past week or so she had realized that she had become too reliant on her guns and other weapons. What would happen if she was ever disarmed? Sure, she knew a few melee moves from movies but that didn't mean they were practiced or even effective.

So she had come here, to the Master's Dojo to seek a trainer. Hell, with the way the building looked they were probably closed and she would have to come back tomorrow. The thought made her lips curl into a frown but she knocked anyway, stepping close to the door as the hollow rapping sound echoed throughout the large building.

"Hello? Is anyone still here?"

Gabi looked over the trainer in front of her and wrinkled her nose. Perhaps she was still overdressed in her black yoga pants and matching tee but at least she had worn something that she could see herself working out in. A small backpack was slung over one of her shoulders and she peeked around the room before laying eyes on the man once more after he was finished speaking.

"Ahhh.. Friend told me about this joint. Was wondering if you guys had classes or something?" Her gaze automatically dropped from his cut face to his bandaged arm and she allowed a small smirk to form as she offered, "But I can come back another day. If you just tell me when a good time would be for like... Self defense/melee, that sort of thing."

Her own limp had subsided, the wound she had received on her calf was now scarred over and only twinged when she overextended herself, which was rarely. The merc would rather shoot something from a safe distance than ever get close enough to anyone to get hurt.

Gabi's lips quirked slightly as he mentioned coming back in '5 seconds'. Ahhh so we have a jokester on our hands... she thought to herself as she removed her bag and chucked it against the closest wall while following slowly after him. A quick gesture from the man and she noticed the white circle in the center of the room but her attention was drawn back to him as she responded to his query before lobbing back a question of her own.

"Not really except for random moments when someone kicks my gun from my hand. So let's just say that those few instances are the reason I came here..." As she closed the distance between them, she couldn't help but notice his eyes. They were a piercing blue and... familiar. One of those odd instances of deja vu that you couldn't seem to place but knew that you should be able to.

"What's your name? I'm Gabi."

Grinning a bit more widely now, Gabi pressed her palms together and bowed deeply to Rob. "Sure thing," she walked over onto the mats and then spread her arms wide as if asking what she should do or where she should stand.

"So what's first, Master?" She chuckled lightly, placing her hands on her hips as she awaited his instruction. "Wait, can you fight like that?" Inclining her chin as if to indicate his arm, she arched a brow again and looked a bit pensive. He could probably still kick her ass wounded but that didn't mean that she wanted him to reinjure an old wound.

"Ahh, glad to hear you're fit for fighting..." she trailed off, laughing a bit as he began to show her what a defensive stance entailed. Gabi was easy to teach. She wasn't arrogant enough to be offended at the proximity of her newfound trainer and she listened to every suggestion and command that he gave her. At the same time, she tried not to appear too rigid or stiff so that she could move with ease when he told her to.

"Uh huh. Easy moves for you maybe, kung-fu fighter." She grinned, flashing straight white teeth for a second before pressing her lips together in a look of concentration. "Show me what you've got." Though her biggest fear was looking like an idiot and faceplanting on the floor, at least there were mats all around.

Gabi grinned and repeated back the agreement but changed a few minor details for her own benefits. "I agree that any harm that may come to me while training with you, my trainer, is waived but I'm just sayin... I know Wing City. If someone from this establishment comes after me with the malicious intent to cause harm then we are not kosher. Agreed?"

Once more, she followed directions perfectly but still she ended up in some fancy arm lock that made her feel more fragile than she did on a daily basis. As if realizing that she couldn't drag herself out of the predicament, she raised her eyes to meet Rob's and quirked a brow once more. "Tricky tricky... Guns are easier." The comment was made jokingly and was followed by a soft, breathy bout of laughter before he let her go and stepped back.

"How about you? Do you promise that any harm that may come to you in this establishment be waived?" Her grin widened once more as she waited for the next move to be shown.

Sadly, on her first attempt at the lock Gabi didn't exactly do an amazing job. Even though he would've stopped his fist from hitting her, she allowed instinct to take over and ducked out of the way. Only a split second later did she remember that she was supposed to complete the move and she stood back up, flashing Rob a sheepish grin as she shrugged her shoulders.

"Ahhh, sorry. Habit?" She laughed, a true and honest laugh as she ran her fingers through her hair to push it back out of her face. "Another try? I'll do better this time. Swear!"
