Gabriella 'Gabi' Sanders

0 · 274 views · located in End Of The Beach

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Celedia

Description

Name: Gabriella 'Gabi' Sanders
Race: Human
Age: 24
Gender: Female

Appearance: Image

Class: Soldier/Merc
Powers: Knows every weapon and how to handle it. Now if only she had the money to afford them all.....
Skills: Can handle most any weapon she comes across. Prefers guns/ranged weapons: Assault Rifles, Heavy Weapons, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Submachine Guns. From her past acquaintances, she has also picked up on two strange abilities. First of which is lockpicking and the second of which is coercion.
Equipment: M-12 Locust (SMG), M-5 Phalanx (Heavy pistol), Plasma Shotgun.

Personality: Gabi has a 'devil may care' attitude. She doesn't have techie or biotic shields to hide behind so more than likely she'll rush into any situation with guns blazing and then try to get the info needed from the corpses. Needless to say, this hasn't worked too well for her in the past. She acts like one of the guys, hates idiots and jerks and can drink most anyone under the table unless they cheat by being a different race and thus, are able to hand liquor that would disintergrate her insides. Unfair.

Biography: Gabi comes from Elysium on the Skyllian Verge and that background alone has proven to harden her character. The Skyllian Verge was the site of both Batarian and Human colonization and thus, many of the human colonies were targeted by pirates and slavers. One such assault happened when Gabi was all of 12 years old. A small slaver ship manned by only about a dozen Batarians tried to kidnap some children from their colony, successfully taking Gabi and a few children around her age and leaving casualties such as her father and older brother. Assuming that the children were of no harm to them, the Batarians left them locked loosely in cages in the hold and one of the kids, Milo, was adept at lockpicking, easily breaking them free where they stealthily slipped further into the ship, stealing weapons wherever they could find them and murdering every single one of the Slavers. Though they were unable to fly back home, they did manage to contact an Alliance ship who swiftly ferried them back to their planet. With the loss of the rest of their family, Gabi and her mother ended up moving to the Citadel where her mother worked as a bartender at one of the Lounges and they remained there until Gabriella was old enough to set out on her own.

Thankfully, this time she didn't embarass herself and duck though perhaps it would've been a good lesson for her to learn. She attempted the locking maneuver that he had shown her before though without applying too much pressure. That was all she needed, to hear a bone snap beneath her touch. Knowing her luck she would probably faint. How hilarious was that? A girl that could blow a perp's face to smithereens with a laser pistol but couldn't stand hearing bones cracking or crunching.

Once she had him in the same position that he had her a few moments earlier, she grinned proudly and held the position for a moment before finally releasing him and stepping away. "If you could turn me into Jackie Chan within a few weeks, that would be great." She winked at him and followed it with another good natured laugh.

Her punches were easily avoided and at the end of her streak of misses, Rob took her down easily, flipping her until her back slammed onto the mat and her breath was knocked out of her. Once she regained her voice she grumbled, "Unfair..." before pushing herself back up off of the mat. More instructions, more snippets of info that she catalogued into her memory for the next time but when his fingers gestured towards his eyes, she once more noted the odd coloration. Brilliant blue and at that moment, the first correlation between Rob's eyes and Oddface's eyes surfaced in her thoughts.

It wasn't that he was easily forgettable, on the other hand Oddface had left his impression but that had been weeks ago and she hadn't caught a glimpse of the vigilante since. Still, she was unable to keep her mouth shut and nonchalantly she said, "Or I could just get the drop on 'em from a fire escape. Works just as well, dontcha think?" A knowing smirk curved her pale pink lips.

Whatever reaction she had been expecting from Rob/Oddface... Well, this wasn't it. Her eyes widened in panic as he practically lunged at her, pressing his palm against her mouth to silence her at the same time as he pushed her into the nearest flat surface. Perhaps she had expected a flash of recognition? A jolt of humor or even some variance of 'Oh boy, you caught me...' while he looked abashedly at the ground?

[b]"...or so help me god." Didn't sound like any of the above. In fact, if he had been a nonhuman with super hearing, which most of the people she ran into nowadays seemed to be, he would've heard or felt her heartbeat skyrocket like that of a frightened animal. Fight or flight had kicked in and as soon as he stepped back from her, she knew which route to take. He was obviously stronger so as soon as he stepped far enough away she made her move.

"Yeah, got it. Sorry, I must've made a mistake..." Her dark eyes glared vehemently at Rob for a moment, not even catching the new emotion that flickered through his blue gaze as she stalked towards the opposite wall to grab her pack. "The person I was thinking off didn't seem like such an asshole. Thanks for the lesson but I think it's time for me to leave."

If only people were willing to share such dark secrets about themselves, Rob and Gabi might have found that they had a lot in common. The merc had lost her own father and brother in a raid on her homeplanet when she was a pre-teen and it was the aftermath of that raid that caused her to commit her first murder. Well, murders, plural. Though she had still had her mom growing up, they have moved far from home and her mother had never acted the same again causing Gabi to pack up her stuff and leave as soon as she was legally able to do so.

Still, she didn't know his story and he didn't know hers. She just knew that someone she had met once and deemed an ally now didn't seem to be quite as she believed him to be. So despite his reassurances and apologies, she had obviously lost a bit of trust in him from his outburst and as soon as he tried to take a step towards her, she held out her hand as if to stop him.

Her words, though carefree, were belied by her tone which seemed slightly venomous now. "No, we're good." She slung her pack over her shoulder and took a path that hugged the wall as she made her way to the door. "Seriously, thanks for the lesson.,," I'll see you around. The words almost left her mouth but didn't and she refused to make eye contact with him as she paused at the door even though her face was turned slightly in his direction. "Stay safe." Was what she left him with as she pushed her way out onto the street.

Gabi had made it about halfway home before she realized that her cellphone must have fallen out of her bag. Probably when she had slung it against the wall after first entering the Dojo. Crap... she thought, tugging her lower lip between her teeth as she paused in the middle of the sidewalk and debated whether or not she should go back and retrieve it.

If it hadn't been her cellphone she would've left the item behind but her cellphone was her life. That and it had quite a few contacts that even though they were encrypted, she would hate to fall into the wrong hands.

Plus, it wasn't like Rob was still going to be hanging around, right? He said something about instructors usually staying til a certain time even though the Dojo was open all day. Turning on her heel, she faced the opposite direction and started on her way back to the Dojo. A little over an hour after she had left, she reentered the same door and her eyes immediately went to the area where she had dropped her bag. Her cell phone had somehow upended itself and tucked itself in sideways next to one of the mats so she strolled over and retrieved it, automatically checking for missed messages.

Gabi's gaze lifted as the voice rang out through the Dojo and then narrowed as she realized that Rob was actually still here. She had figured he was wrapping up even before he gave her the lesson so she had assumed he would have bolted by now.

Twisting her wrist so he could see her cell phone, she then stuffed it back into her bag and adjusted the wide strap upon her shoulder. "No worries," though her words were carefree her eyes held a completely different emotion though it was hard to read. "What are you still doing here?"

Gabi's dark eyes widened a bit at his random admission. Before she had stormed out earlier he had mentioned people close to him being 'lost' and he had corrected himself but she had been so scared and pissed that she hadn't caught it. Now, she did.

Her eyes softened slightly but her stance and features still held wariness. Folding her arms across her chest, she didn't run away but she didn't move closer to him either. "I can't say Oddface the name but you can? Either it's a secret or its not. Let me know which it is so I don't go name dropping." Thinking it through for a moment, her eyes widened even more as she looked around the Dojo. "Who would hurt you?"

"He? Him? You mean YOU?" She shook her head and crossed the room, unable to stand still. "You're not two separate people." It was obvious she had more questions but for the moment she simply kept dragging her lower lip between her teeth and letting it go before chewing on it and repeating the gesture. It was something she did whenever she was emotional. Angry, sad, whatever.

"And who are 'they'? That's rather vague. You have to have a few guesses." She looked exasperated, like she didn't even know why she cared. Oddface had been a cordial and temporary ally. Robert had been a temporary sparring partner. Temporary being the keyword in each situation, right?

Gabi saw Robert shift his stance and his features change as he grew uncomfortable with her line of questioning. It was obvious that he didn't want to talk about any of this so she threw up both of her hands, palms facing him in a defensive gesture.

"Look. You don't want to talk about it, fine. I get it and don't worry, I won't tell anyone a thing." Once more her lips parted as if there were words to add to the statement but she simply shook her head. Her hair tousled around her face and she began to make her way towards the exit.

Her steps paused and she arched a brow at Robert, waiting for him to continue until she realized that he had nothing else to say. "This? What? Talking to another human? You... I'm sorry, HE seemed rather adept at it." Gabi wasn't like most other girls and she wasn't overly emotional. If people showed weaknesses, she didn't feel the need to scoop them into her arms and comfort them. Instead, she wondered if it was some secret ploy to get her to let her guard down.

Obviously both she and Robert were both fucked up beyond belief.

"Look. If you're still worried about scaring the hell out of me and slamming me against a wall, looking like you were about to break my neck than don't be. I get over things quickly. It helps on this planet to be adaptable." She even managed a smile after she was done speaking.

Edei parted her lips to answer but a jovial tone rang out behind her, interrupting her before she even began. Gabi wandered to the table, plunking down several bottles of low grade whiskey.

“Aye, I do but I’m not sharing a thing til the whole gang is ‘ere.”

A grin flashed over her arid lips and she wandered back to the counter to grab a few glasses before anyone could question her further. She didn’t know how many people were expected but she knew that each of them had received the same summons that she had. An note with no return address folded around a crisp $100 bill that simply read the meeting place and time as well as the phrase, ”There is more where that came from.

Hers, of course, had also held a small thin recording device that she was supposed to play exactly at 8:30pm.

A quick glance at the clock told her that the time was coming soon- 8:25pm.

Let’s get this show on the road…. Her thoughts surfaced and she refrained from rolling her eyes while she made her way back to the table. Depositing all but one of the glasses, she filled her own cup then retreated to slide onto a chair a few feet away from everyone else.

Gabi smirked, slipping her fingertips beneath the black leather of her halter top and withdrawing a slender metallic object. You never know when a pick pocket would be around, especially in a shady locale like this, so she tended to keep important items tucked in close to her heart.

The recorder was perhaps three inches long and one inch wide with a single circular button on its face.

“Haven’t heard it ‘til now so don’t get your panties in a bunch. It’s for all of us so I was told to play it….”

Her voice trailed off as she cast an eye at the clock.

8:30pm.

“Now.”

Pressing the button with her thumb, she tossed the device onto the table where it slid briefly before coming to a rest. Oddly enough, it wasn’t simply a vocal recorder though which became evident as the machine folded in on itself, revealing a small glass lens that projected a hologram into the center of the room. The voice was altered and the first hologram to display was simply a picture of all four of the people gathered.

”Good, you all have made it. I do apologize from dragging you to this distant location but these words are for the four of you, alone.”

Gabi arched a brow and glanced up at the bartender, only to realize that he had removed himself from the room. It truly was just the four of them, at the moment.

”One of my operatives has been captured and it has come to my attention that he was a little… lax with security. All of his files concerning the operation have been compromised. That includes personnel files on each and every single one of you.”

A brief silence filled the room before the voice continued. ”So, I believe the four of you have a vested interest in the retrieval of these documents. So far, we have little information on them but one of you has provided names and photographs.

With that, pictures of both Isobel and Evan displayed on the hologram though Evan’s photo didn’t have a name displayed beneath it and Isobel’s had “Alexandria” scrawled below.

”Find them. Find the info. Destroy them if you must. Toy with them if you wish. I do not care what happens as long as that data is destroyed and they are handled. To encourage you to work together, the bounty on each of their heads will be split between you. $1 million per person and no…. A light chuckle cut through the audio. ”Killing the others does not increase your take.”

With that, the device snapped shut. All information contained within would be useless, having been erased upon delivery.

Charming companions? He had no idea.

Instead of slipping into conversation with Hawley, Gabi simply stared at him for a moment as if trying to solve a puzzle or riddle. Her brows were knit tightly together and her dark eyes, accentuated with tons of smoky shadow and bold lines of kohl, dissected him for a few moments before she spoke.

“So what’s your deal?”

There was a pause, a brief lapse, before she continued on. Her smile brightened, changing easily into a good-natured grin as she stood, spinning her chair around quickly to mirror the way he sat down. Her arms folded over the back of the chair as she straddled it, eyes still trained on the only other person left in the bar.

“Strongman, I get. He looks like he could punch a hole in the hull of a ship. The other chick doesn’t look like much but she has tone, definition and her back was straight, shoulders set. I’ve seen soldiers with that posture so that’s what I’m guessing for her….”

Her hand briefly flew out to gesture at herself before returning to its perch on the back of the chair. “Me? I’m pure weaponry. Not good at hand to hand but give me anything else and I can hold my own. But you…. I don’t have you pegged.”

Gabi’s eyes drifted down to the silver case extended between them but she didn’t move a muscle. Her hands rested upon the back of her forearms as they stayed lying upon the back of the chair.

“You must have your uses or I doubt you’d be here.” She spoke easily enough, obviously not one for playing word games or keeping her thoughts hidden from those around her. “You’re the brains, then. Sweet talker like you. Eloquent enough and complimentary through you don’t have to be.” Her head tilted to one side and she studied him again, her eyes narrowing briefly as she kept trying to peg him. Curiosity rose and she wondered where the wound came from but that was a question that would get her onto his bad side quickly so she refrained.

“What’s the proposition?”

Gabi looked more amused than worried by the man’s words and she remained as still as a statue despite the occasional movement of her facial features. One brow rose cautiously at his mentioning of a ‘contingency plan’ and she tried not to laugh at his silver-tongued attempts. Like a snake in the grass, he was predatory but unassuming until you pissed him off. That was how she had him pegged, at the moment.

“Ah, see I already have that contingency plan in effect. I call it self preservation. So now I have to ask… What makes you think any of this will go south?” She paused, rolling her tongue across her lips to wet them and wishing desperately that she trusted the beverages in this place. A drink would be welcome but not from here and not in the present company.

“Our… employer is quite impressive and neither of the marks look that dangerous. Or do you know something that I don’t?”

“If they have as much information as our employer claims they have, I’d send everything after them too. Err on the side of caution and whatnot.” Another grin flickered over her lips and she shrugged before admitting, “Playing devil’s advocate here. I tend to think the best of people that pay me huge chunks of cash.”

“Anyway, name’s Gabi. Gabi Sanders. I think I am going to take lead on homeboy with the blue eyes and the chiseled jaw.” A snicker left her mouth as she stood up, twisting the chair and pushing it back under the table. “Y’know. Reconnaissance and all. You take the chick. We’ll wait for soldier girl to get her info in the meanwhile and call in Strongman when it’s all sorted out.”

“Sound like a deal?”

Gabi cast a glance down at the hand as it was extended towards her before taking it into her own and giving one solid pump. In general, she despised physical contact or even being within touching range with most people. That was usually when they could catch you off guard and toss you about like a rag doll. She knew from previous experience.

Extracting her hand from his, she inclined her chin towards him. “Nice meeting you as well, Hawley Crenshaw. Try not to get killed. Hard to come out on top when you’re not breathing.”

Winking at him, she set off on a trail out the door, her hand sliding up to the gun at her hip as if checking to make sure it was still there.

The club scene was definitely Gabi’s territory. The bass beat thumping against her skin as she moved amongst the throngs of bodies. New and varying scents, none too cloying, teasing her as she danced her way through the crowd on her way to the bar. There was something so utterly primal about being in a club that was packed as thickly as this one that made her feel like she was in the heat of battle. Eyes widened, pupils dilated, senses heightened… And with those heightened senses she spotted the pretty man from the pictures- Evan.

A predatory smile tugged at her lips and she smoothed both hands down her sides and to her thighs, making sure that her little black bandage dress was in its place. A pair of dangerous looking heels clicked against the flooring as she removed herself from the dance floor and made her way towards the bar with a plan of attack.

The bar was packed tightly, giving her the perfect reason to squeeze beside Evan, giving him no choice but to notice her and she played her role perfectly. Turning her head quickly towards him, she murmured an apology before giving him a very obvious once over.

“Sorry… Bit packed in here tonight.” Her voice was breathy from her time spent dancing and she followed her innocuous comment with a throaty laugh before turning to flag down the bartender.

At the same moment that Evan’s fingers slid into her hand to press a twenty into her palm, on her other side a tall, lanky man leaned onto the bar, edging himself into her line of sight while she tried to get the bartender’s attention.

“Hey, can I get you-“ She knew the question and with a tilted smirk, she lifted the twenty that had just been eased her way into the air, clasped between two fingers.

“I’m already taken care of, thanks.” The bartender caught her eye, giving her the universal gesture for ‘Just a moment’ and since she actually did come here quite often, he knew her drink order and would have it in front of her shortly. Giving her the time needed to respond to Evan.

She twisted to face him, the crowd not giving her much room to work with so that she pressed into him several times while maneuvering. Another laugh preceded her reply and she nodded just in case he couldn’t hear her over the music.

“Quite often, actually. Which means that you must be new.”

Dark eyes twinkled and as expected, her cocktail was pressed firmly into her hand while she talked, the twenty being withdrawn from her grasp as payment. “Would you like to join me at my table?” Her head dipped slightly and a coy grin slipped over her lips as she clarified, moving her face closer to his so that their cheeks almost touched while she moved her mouth towards his ear.

“Would be easier to talk without all of this noise.”

Both brows arched as she turned without waiting for a reply, threading her way through the crowd and over to one of the tables located in the emptier VIP section.

Gabi raised her drink to one of the tables as they passed. A trio of dangerous looking men with an equal number of staggeringly beautiful women perched upon their laps. Two of the men gave her a nod before their eyes drew into thin slits, giving Evan a once over as he passed them by but they caused no ruckus otherwise.

“Must be nice to have friends?” She parroted back at him, arching a brow as she shot him a confused look over her shoulder. “Don’t you have any?” Her tone remained playful, teasing even, and she led him to a circular table nestled into the corner of the VIP section with a booth curved against the wall. Gabi slid in first, balancing her drink with a practiced ease so it wouldn’t slosh around.

“So if you’ve never been here before, what brought you here tonight?”

She crossed her legs beneath the table, the shifting movements easily felt by Evan since he slid so close to her and her own back pressed into the leather back as she settled in for conversation.

“That’s because I haven’t given it to you yet.”

The playful smile pulled at her lips once more and she arched a brow towards him as if challenging him to some form of game. “But my name is Gabriella. Pleasure to meet you E-“ she broke off her statement prematurely, almost accidentally blowing it by using his name but she switched gears easily. “Even though I would like to hear that you’re here for the beautiful women I’m going to wager a guess that it this venture was more for the liquor.”

She had heard about the attack on the apartment that some of their cohorts were watching. The apartment belonging to that man Jared that started the whole mess and began this lucrative job. So where was his partner in crime and why was he out all alone?

“So I have a feeling you have a story to share with me. Am I right?” Sipping at her colorful and fruity cocktail, she twisted her torso towards him, moving her hair around to the opposite shoulder to give him a clear view of her neck, shoulders and other assets.

“Don’t you know the gender stereotypes? Men never listen.” She tried to keep the irritation off of her features as she responded, aggravated that he had sidestepped her attempt at questioning.

“Besides. A man like you has to have some amazing stories to tell.” Her voice dipped low, practically a purr as she tried to lure him into a sense of complacency. “Let me guess you’re… “ She leaned in, studying him more intently, letting her eyes drift over his form as if using that to assist her guessing game. “An enigma.”

Laughter fell from her lips once more, the sound coming quite easily with or without the addition of alcohol though she didn’t hesitate to take another sip. “You look like you work out but you don’t seem the type to use it. I don’t see you as a soldier or a cop.”

Her lips twisted as she tried to guess his occupation. “Firefighter? I could imagine you battling blazes and saving the day.”

“Ahh, flattery. I do enjoy a man that dishes out the compliments so easily.”

She dipped her head to take a sip from her glass, looking up at Evan through thick lashes as she debated how to respond to his inquiry. “But no, neither of those professions are to my taste.”

Trying to twist the conversation back towards Evan, she tossed a few more guesses out. “Why? Is that what you do? Model? Actor?” Her teasing grin returned and she set her drink down upon the table so that both of her hands were free.

“Don’t tell me you’re Indiana Jones and go traipsing about the world looking for long lost artifacts. I’m drowning here, toss me a lifeline.”

Gabriella continued to watch Evan’s face even as he trailed off and left his sentence unfinished. After the silence lapsed for more than a moment, she adopted a worried look and turned towards him, placing a comforting hand on his knee.

“Are you okay? I’m sorry if… I didn’t think someone’s job would be a sore subject…”
