Gauthus Dismer's Story

A tear in the very fabric of this universe appeared, and a man was thrown through it. His body slammed through the door of the bar and he hit a few people as he hurtled into the area of effect for the spell and his magics were rendered useless.

Behind him the tear shut quickly, and to the great dismay of whatever else was one the other side. The man was injured, but not badly. His eyes snapped open, and he looked around at all of the people, "May I ask what plane is this?" He asked, standing very slowly. He could feel that there was a suppression on his powers and didn't attempt to heal himself. He might've been able to heal while he was planeswalking, but he was in too much of a hurry. If he'd stayed in the previous plane any longer, he would've died for sure.

Gauthus smiled, "I'll be fine as soon as I can get my powers back, there's some... thing that's suppressing my abilities." He said, looking at his hands before taking hers and letting her help him up. His wounds stung, and they were deep, but he didn't appear to be bleeding.

"Thank you, may I ask you your name? I am Gauthus Dismer, Artifice of Light." He said, bowing deeply. As he bowed, he winced slightly but remained calm.

Gauthus shrugged, "You can just call me Gauthus then." He chuckled, sitting across the table from her. He was glad he hadn't been out of touch with humanity as long as the other planeswalkers. It was common for them to develop complete disregard for anything lesser.

"I was attacked on another plane by another planeswalker like myself named Cevelt Velpar. He and I, we aren't friends to say the least. After a short battle, I planeswalked to the nearest available reality, and this just happened to be it." He said, looking at his hands. He was strong enough for a small sparkle and a fizzle to come from his hands. That was the extent of his abilities while he was being suppressed like this.

He chuckled, "For a Planeswalker, this is very little. I would like to have them bandaged though." He would prefer them to be wrapped up though because he wasn't sure how big this suppression field was and he may not be able to heal for a while.

"So, I've told you what I am, what about you?" He asked, smiling. The irises in his eyes shifted like liquid when his eyes moved.

He had a deep wound on his abdomen, and several on his arms but those weren't too bad. He lifted his arms so she could see the wounds on his mid-section. As soon as he did, he felt the wounds on his arms start to close up. His powers were started to come back, just very slowly.

"Haha, I guessed that much, I mean your race. What race are the people of this plane?" He asked, chuckling lightly.

He let his arms hang back down, "I mean, are you a human?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. If she wasn't, he didn't care. He had no reason to discriminate against anything other than another Planeswalker.

He was in fact, a Demovian, which was basically a human.

He chuckled, "I plan on staying here for as long as Cevelt is hunting me. So, quite possibly for eternity." He meant this too. In a one on one fight against the other Planeswalker, Gauthus was a dead man. Unless... Unless of course he could rally some forces against Cevelt, then he might have a chance.

He was tired of being suppressed by whatever field this was, and began to subconsciously attack it with his power. "Trust me, Imani, I can take anything Wing City throws at me and more."

He shrugged, "I'll need to find somewhere to stay then. I'll need to avoid doing any planeswalking or else Cevelt will be able to feel the displacement. Gauthus decided that it'd be easy for him to just find some sort of sewer system for him to squat in for the time being.

"I also don't have any money." He said, turning out his pockets. Just a few carved stones.

He raised an eyebrow at the word 'skyship', and then chuckled when she mentioned charming a lovely lady. He never really laughed, just chuckled lightly and smiled warmly. "I've never seen a skyship before, what is it like?" He asked, leaning forward and resting his chin on his knuckles. He'd ridden in a war-balloon once, but he wasn't too sure if a skyship was anything similar.

He enjoyed her reverence for nature. He too felt that way about advances in technology. "I used to be a Dominarian, but now I'm an Ascendant Planeswalker. I was from the plane of Domineria which is settled near to the nexus of the multiverse."

He supposed he should explain how a planeswalker ascended, "One out of every million souls born in a plane is given the which often doesn't activate. If it does though, the soul ascends to become a Planeswalker." He said, continuing, "The power that fills a Planeswalker's body when they ascend is so much that if they go without learning to control it then they often go insane and become a Wilder. That can also happen if a Planeswalker spends too much time without meditating." He said, leaning back.

"Do you think I could see your skyship?" He added, raising an eyebrow. He found himself rather interested in the idea of the ship.

He shrugged, "Sounds reasonable, I've met people more cautious than that." He said, thinking of the Mirrodians. Gauthus would've felt a shift in balance when Cevelt entered the plane, but the suppression of his more sensitive magical abilities made him quite literally numb to magical reception.

"If your captain is far away, I could take you to him. Or her," He added.

He shrugged, "I've been planeswalking for hundreds of years, and I love seeing new things. It's almost becoming a rarity." He said, smiling. He'd never seen a skyship before, and he was truly fascinated by the idea of a flying boat. Was it a boat or was he just wrong to assume that it was? He supposed he'd find out soon enough.

Cevelt was having a hard time tracking Gauthus due to the field of effect, and decided to bide his time.

He stood quietly, "That sounds like a great plan, I will return in a day's time." He said, dusting himself off. He hadn't noticed his senses being numbed and Cevelt would be able to locate him as soon as the Planeswalker exited the field.

Gauthus wondered if Imani was going the same way he was, or if she was leaving at all.

Gauthus stood quietly on top of The Bluff, and turned when he heard someone walking nearby. That's when he felt a quick change in energy and Cevelt was on him. It would appear as though he was struck by a red flash of lightning and was then hurled into the air. In his place was a blur of a man that quickly followed him upward. Gauthus turned in the air and let out a shout of anger as he let loose a barrage of magic blasts. Cevelt literally shrugged them off like a dragon shrugging off the arrows of a peasant.

“This little game is over, Gauthus! I’ll rend the very flesh from your bones!” Cevelt roared, the clouds swirling around them. Gauthus moved back as Cevelt swung a fist at him, but still wasn’t fast enough to block the blast of fiery magma that blew forth from Cevelt’s mouth. Gauthus shook it off, and drew back a hand to send another spell Cevelt’s way. The Planeswalker blinked and Cevelt was already behind him. Gauthus careened back towards Terra and hit the planet’s crust like a meteor.

Cevelt landed on top of Gauthus and sent his kneecap into the other Planeswalker’s stomach. Gauthus gasped, and Cevelt quickly sent several swings into Gauthus’s face. Cevelt stood slowly, “I’ll let you live for now, but don’t think It’s because I pity you. I’ll be back, soon.” He said, as the Planeswalker stood over the groaning Gauthus.

Cevelt was thrown backwards, but a huge boulder exploded from the earth and allowed Cevelt to land on it and jump forward. His hands glowed white hot, and his eyes turned red, "Foolish creature, you dare to meddle int he affairs of Planeswalkers?!" He shouted, sending a huge red lightning bolt from his hand.

The bolt fizzled as the planeswalker canceled his attack. Cevelt seemed to calm down after that shot, and stood silently in place, "You're safe for now, wyrm." He said angrily. The planeswalker dissipated.

Gauthus's eyes flickered open and his wounds all began to close up.

Gauthus stood, and he looked down at a huge gash that had just finished closing up, "Hello, I take it you are the captain of that vessel?" He asked, looking up at it. His clothes even seemed to repair themselves.

"I am Gauthus Dismer, Artifice of Light. You can just call me Gauthus if you'd prefer." He said, bowing deeply to the captain and then to the others as they descended.

Gauthus nodded, "I am, it is good to meet you Anahera." He smiled, and bowed slightly again. He found that when meeting new people, utmost respect was normally appreciated.

"I find myself terribly interested in your skyship. It is the first that I've seen, and I've been traveling between planes for hundreds of years." He said, folding his hands in front of him. He was also intrigued by the structure of this universe because of its merging realities. This would definitely make getting the spark a more common occurrence.

He shrugged, "How exactly does it fly?" He asked, trying to think of ways that it could. Maybe it's using magic. That's how Gauthus could fly. It was all magical. Then again, it may be some sort of chemical reaction. There were a lot of ways to explain it.

He raised an eyebrow, "No, I'm only interested." He said quietly. He'd never make it as a pirate. Then again, he could be a great one. He wasn't going to lie to himself, the thought of joining these people for the time being was very tempting. He didn't know anyone, and he was sure his magical prowess would be appreciated.

His eyes flicked to Kaliska. What an interesting looking woman. After a second of eye contact, his eyes moved back up to the ship.

"That sounds grand." He said, smiling at her. His irises swirled as he looked around at everyone as they spoke and moved. He was almost like a child taking in all of the information. He held out his hands and white spheres filled them and he lifted himself off of the ground by an inch or so.

"Shall we ascend then? I'm excited to see what the insides of the ship look like."

Gauthus grabbed the rope, and just seemed to slide up it. If he was on the same rope as someone and he caught up to them then he'd let go and hover around her then grab back onto the rope.

He was very excited, and when he got inside he stood very still for a while and took in all of the details around him.

He grinned, "Wow, it's very pretty." He said, running his hands along several things. He'd known some harpies before, and they'd been very... hospitable. He smiled when he saw the carving, and went back to looking around.

"Are there a lot of fights with other ships?" He asked, turning back to Anahera.

As Kaliska looked him over, he looked her over. Once she left he returned to looking around until he heard a familiar voice. He waved, "Hello Imani, this ship is very intricate." He said, bowing lightly to her and then going back to looking at a design on a cloth. His eyes flicked along every detail of the ship.

A quite fizzle could be heard by the trained ear and a quick change in the energy flow of the area could be felt by anyone sensitive to magic. Gauthus planeswalked onto the sidewalk, and scared an old woman half to death. After apologizing, he headed inside.

He needed someone he could trust for now. Maybe some powerful mage, or an intrepid hero. The Planeswalker stood nearby to Lorn, and could tell she was something other than this plane's average human.

"Do you need anything to drink, ma'am?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. He'd bought plenty of people drinks before, he'd always been the generous sort.
