The sophisticated call it "Ops." Everyone else just calls it "muscle."
Direct and honest, Nine is not imbued with the subtle charm of an Eleven. Never one to mince words, a Nine speaks his mind in most situations and has no fear to point out the truth people attempt to hide beneath the layers. Although stereotyped by some to be nothing more than dumb muscle, the silent and direct nature of a Nine makes them highly perceptive to their surroundings and the very nature of the people with whom he associates. A Nine will often blatantly call out someone's fatal flaws and explore the nature of their failings and strengths of their humanity. Strangely, a Nine is a easy creature to get along with socially if one can hold on with thick enough skin.
When unquestionably loyal, the Nines hold a more jaded regard toward their creator, Dr. Saven Laric, than some of their "sisters" who regard the man as something of a living creator-God. As a result, there is some strife on the "homefront," and Nines and Elevens rarely work together and have even been known to oppose one another.
Dr. Saven Laric created his ninth model to replace the "Fours" originally designed for operations work in his scheming. From the time of their initation, Nines were engineered to work in isolation without the need for the social and emotional connection inherent with some of the the other models.
Notable Nines
Damian -- Without question, the most infamous of the Nines. Originally intended as a stand-in for Laric during the more dangerous or shady business deals, the Nine quickly associated himself with the underground and gained a reputation as a man that shouldn't be crossed. He is now an independent enforcer. While there are no direct communications between Laric and Damian, the Nine has developed a very efficient habit of making enemies and problemmakers disappear permanently.
