Gian Gray's Story

It was at this time that another member of Gadget waltzed in for the first time. He was short and very skinny, though he wore baggy clothing to try and hide this fact.
It only worked a little bit.
Upon his head was a pair of goggles, similar to the ones on Ace's head. The pointed-ear trickster sneaked up behind the effeminate young man and took fast hold of the band that held Ace's hair. Before the hoverbiker could react, the little weasel Gian had tugged it free of his hair and run off.

Gian Gray knew this, which is the exactly why he took it in the first place. He loved to annoy Ace whenever he could.
Horrible little annoying wretch, he was!

Little Gian practically skipped behind Ace, however silently. He was planning to annoy his hoverbiking partner- steal that hairband again.
And, of course, Ace didn't know at all.

When Skunk, Snake, and Mouse rushed by, Gian squeaked, pressing himself up to the wall when Ace spun around. 'Stealing? I don't do such things!' He lied to himself, feeling sweat pour down his brow as Ace slowly turned back around.
Before the youth could do a thing, Gian stood on the tips of his toes and pulled out the hairband in Ace's hair, bolting out the door as he did.
Ace whipped around and nearly caught the thieving elven hoverbiker, only just missing.
"Goddammit!" Ace cursed.

Revving the gears to his sleek black hoverbike, Gian lifted into the skies, force lifters glowing blue as the sun rose over the horizon and turned night into day. The sky was a soft gradual palette of pink into orange. He rose high over the ruins, with no wind to interfere. The ride was smooth.

His elven ears picked up sound. Laughter. Shouts. Conversation. Gian looked down, spotting several people. Hisao, Lukas, Chise, Dissonance, and possibly a few others. "What the hell are people doing here?" He asked himself.

"Itchy," she said, stretching her hand to scratch at the welts on the back of her shoulder. They always did that when she came out of the pod. It was an unfortunate side-effect, though it was the only one. The doctors would have protested. The welts would burst if she scratched them too much.

Gian Gray flew over the ruins, peering at the group playing hide-and-seek. "Kids? Really? Ugh. What are they doing in a place like this? There are ghouls everywhere! Shadows, creeps...everywhere!" he yelled to himself, accidently squeezing the acceleration panel, causing him to shoot forward by accident. He nearly zoomed in too close, and was fearful of being detected by the group.

Gian Gray flew high above the rest and spoke into the headset that he had on for a while. He connected to the Gadget channel and sent out orders.
"Tora, Ace, Jack! Help me scout the area, I want both Runners and Scouts out, three or four Warriors just in case. And Min. We need her eyes. Alert Grennel and get some cams out. Energy readings are going haywire and there's kids in the area...and something else. Gian, out."

Exactly on queue, Tora ran out of her tent, barely dressed in the tube-top shirt that ended before her belly button, and shorts that rode up way too high. Her pink ponytail fell over her shoulder, and she had a lollypop in her mouth.
She hopped onto her dark blue bike, then revved the accelerator on that, too.
Jack did much the same, but he was dressed in a long coat and black pants. His bike was faster than Tora's, so he caught up to Gian easily.
Then there was Ace, who's bike was almost a duplicate of Gian's. His long ponytail flopped down his back, much longer than Tora's.
All three zoomed up into the skies.

At Pineapple's sudden bolt, which Gian caught, he yelled into his mic.
"New objective! Follow the dragon, he's got Giselle! Repeat, get the hell over there!"
All four of them zoomed in, not going to take Giselle away, but ready to help should anything go wrong. Four hoverbikers, all with some article of brightly colored clothing, or hair, or just an outlandish appearance in general. Two of the hoverbikes were long and sleek, one other slightly bulkier, and the last very tiny and stout, but quick. They aligned perfectly, hovering high over Pineapple and Giselle.
Gian caught sight of Lukas for half a second, but turned his head.
Ah, so not just kids, eh?

The soft sigh of a hoverbike engine could be heard outside, blowing a bit of dirt and leaves into Gambits. After a few passing seconds, the engine hushed, and the sound of light footsteps followed after.
Then, the door gently swung open, revealing a young skinny lad with pointy ears. Most of his apparel consisted of baggy clothing, all including the cargo pants and the brown trench coat. A red scarf was twined around his neck comfortably.

He looked around Gambits with darling blue eyes, one that most women would look at and squeal. "Darling little boy!" they would say.
And yet, they hadn't an idea how he really was.

Gian, quite unprepared for the very sudden kisses that came to his cheeks, merely stood there, eyes wide in surprise at Antonio. Once, he blinked his eyes, then, he gaped, and then he blinked and closed his mouth all at once.
It was simple, his reaction. In his mind screamed the things he wasn't saying out loud.
'What the hell just happened?' Said his expression. Slowly, he adjusted the goggles on his head, brushed his fingers by his pointed ears, and shook his head as he walked toward the counter.
"Well. What a way to start off the morning..."

Gian waltzed up to the counter, an eyebrow raised at the cat-people in the bar.
What? What was this, a new wave of mutations?
Gian let out a disappointed sigh. They needed to learn how to keep those things in their pens. They went rampant and about too often.
He was about to seat himself when he noticed the fancy cushion on the counter. He was going to do something about it, examine it, even, but when BlackJack came in and swept it away, he decided not to deal with it.

Glancing at Blackjack, Gian remembered something about Grennel's and Min's meeting with someone strange the other day.
This guy fit the bill of what they were talking about. However...he couldn't help but feel as if the man wasn't...ah...
What was the word?
Trustworthy...but more vulgar than that.

Shaking his head, Gian watched Antonio shower everything in his sight with kisses. He somewhat moved behind anyone near him so that maybe he wouldn't come back into his sight.
Oh, and then there was a kid crying.
And then lots of fur. Everywhere.
Gian sighed into his glove.

Getting orders from HQ, Gian's hand flew up to his ear-piece, his eyes flickering around suspiciously.
"Got it," he said, slipping off of his chair and bolting out of Gambits at high speed. Evidently, the little sick princess and the dragon were coming in.
Doctor Lee didn't want him to be a disturbance...

Gian, having previously been hidden, heard the gun shots, and witnessed Wren crumpling to the floor, quickly spoke into his ear-piece and ran over to the cat lady. "We need an ambulance! Wing City Ambulance, not a Gadget one!" He said into his mic. He knelt in front of the cat-lady, kneeling down as Absolution yelled out.
"Shit!" He growled. "We need backup! Now!"

"I saw a man walking out of the bar...I didn't get a good look at his face, though, so I'm useless," Gian said to Stern, brow furrowing. He could already hear the wails of the ambulance echoing down the street.

Gian did not follow the man outside. He had company with him.
He didn't have any obligations to the girl. She was going to get help. All was done.

Looking at the blood on the floor, Gian beckoned a cleaning unit over, and it promptly began to mop the red mess up. He hoped any Vampires that had been in the bar wouldn't go too crazy.

In his rush, Gian had not remembered to stay hidden from the dragon. He turned his head to stare at the two, and cursed himself. Quickly, and gracefully, for Gian was an elf, and elves did everything this way, he waltzed out of the bar, using a headset with an eyepiece to observe at them through one of the HMU's.
"Damn. Babysitting. Freaking princess." He grumbled. It was going to be a long, boring day for him.

As Gian watched the scene from one of the hovering metal spheres that followed Giselle around, he kicked back onto his hoverbike just outside of Gambits, idly watching patrons go in and out.
"Healthier, but still loopy as all hell," the young boy said, half-smirking. "Scalloped eggs, of all things!"
He made one of the Hovering Medical Units zoom up on the dragon.
"And aren't you taking too much interest, sir?"

The elf laughed, and it came through one of the HMU's speakers. "It's like the tale of the boy with the mutated chick. She's been poisoned by radiation, so he can't get next to her,"
He wrapped his arms around himself and made kissy noises. Obviously, they could not see him do this.
"But they love each other!"

It was then that Giselle swatted the HMU and the thing went soaring away. "Don't say mean things like that, Gian! You're rude!"
To this, the elf blinked.
She'd just said his name.
She never did that. He didn't think she even knew who he was. The elf shifted in his seat, silent.

Giselle wrapped her arms around the dragons neck, burying her head into his feathers. "I'm sorry, Pineapple. He's an elf. He can't help it sometimes."

"Nuh-uh! Elves ride dragons in most bo-"
A loud piece of static blasted away at Gian's ear. He kicked his legs, then fell off of his hoverbike onto the pavement.
"Gian Gray!" Came an angry voice into his ear-piece. "I would appreciate it if you could refrain from talking! You are to guard the girl, nothing more!"
Gian winced, half-closing one eye as he rubbed his ears.
"Yes, ma'am," he grumbled.

Giselle laughed at Pineapple, closing her eyes as she felt the heat of the fire and the one coming from the dragon make her drowsy.
"No..." she whispered, fighting to stay awake. A distant memory flashed in her mind. "It isn't..."
She let out a huff, rubbing her eyes. She didn't want those images to come back.

As Giselle and Pineapple exited, Gian took out his headpiece and waltzed into the bar, all important-like and haughty. He was, of course, dressed in baggy clothing and a bright red scarf, goggles atop his head. He didn't look very important at all.
But the elf did not think so.

He walked to the counter, sat down, and crossed his arms, a small smile on his face.

Something caught Gian's attention, and the lad looked back to catch sight of Pineapple. Gulping silently, the elf planted a firm hand on Ace's shoulder. It was a bit high up, but he managed.
"Ace...Ace!" He whispered to his partner, shaking him.
"Gah! What the hell, Gian, what is it?" The boy said irritably.
"Don't speak to me like that, you stiff Scraper! Little Fruity is over there!" Gian said, pointing.
"Who?"
"Fruity! The colorful...fruit...lizard. Dragon."
"You mean...Apple? Or Spiky? What was his name?"
"Pine..."
"...apple?"
"Pineapple!" They both chorused.

Both boys clapped their gloved hands onto their mouths from their loud outburst, gasping loudly as they did so. Gian gave Ace a venomous glance and clapped him hard on the head. "You're 'bout as smart as a brick!"
"Ow! I could say the same for you, damn elf! I'm going to scream in your ear!"
"You already are!"

They growled at each other in annoyance before turning to look at Pineapple.
He did not seem well at all.
"Should we...talk to him?" Ace suggested, being the more sympathetic of the two.
"Hell no. He'll..."
"He hasn't eaten the Princess yet."
"The Flower?"
"Ah...that's right...she's..."
"The surgery."
"Does he think it's his fault, or something?"
After their chatter, Ace finally summoned up the courage to walk over, leaving Gian and his selfish ass behind. He sat down onto one of the couches, elbows on his knees.
It took a moment for him to talk.
"So...Pineapple, right?" He said slowly.

This made Gian hop back on one foot, flapping his arms out beside him. Ace took a hand and cupped Gian's head in it, shoving him onto the ground harshly. The Elf's head hit the floor.
Ace crossed his arms and huffed. "Don't...don't listen to him, okay? He's...he's..."
He took a moment to think for a word.
"He's an elf. Plain and simple."
"HEY!"
Ace kicked the elf in the side, causing him to cringe in pain.
"Um...so don't...Giselle wasn't because of you. I think all of Gadget needs to thank you...Giselle and I were friends for the longest time."
The man gulped.
"Jesus, this is full of cheese. Ah...um. Thanks. You know? Thanks."
