As Conner came over and seemed to feel Racie up, Gian made a face and took a step back. He was about to let out a barrage of awkward words when Kalil then explained. Gian sighed. "Right, right. I really wasn't sure what to think."

He scratched the back of his head, then his eyes popped open. "Oh! I wanted to ask you all, since you're going to be part of Gadget and all...want the tattoo?"

"Why would I like that!" he exclaimed, waving his hands in the air. He folded them shortly after. "I'm not even embarrassed! I just think she's creepy!"

Ai shook her head. "For you, Hope, we'd do anything! Those of use that know you, anyway. We owe you more than you'd think. After you came, everything here kind of brightened up. You're a friend, right? And a Gadget member, too!"

Down the alleyway of tents came Gian, his hands shoved into his pockets. He had his goggles pulled over his eyes and the tips of his ears. Tora had been talking allll day about some guy who appeared outside of the ruins that was an elf as well, and she couldn't get off the damn subject, so he was trying to hide from her for now. She was also chatting about the new guy who came into camp. The redheaded guy. Damn, she was a gossip. Also, since that little comment from Hope, he had been trying so desperately to clear his mind. It wasn't like that! Gosh!

The elf pushed his hands into the pockets of his large coat and huffed. It was at this time that he spotted the pink bike, which was unusual, and the angry, not-flying and alone Racie. Which was also unusual.

"Something wrong? Your bike is a bit..." he raised a brow, "...bright."

Gian took a step back. "Well, ah..." he said, licking his lips. "I thought I saw one of your bikes go out earlier...but I could be mistaken!"

That was obviously bull. Gian could not be mistaken. He had the sharpest eyes of any Gadget member thanks to his mutation. He was also a Runner. He had an eye for detail.

"But hey...I'm just gonna take my own bike out and, ah...fly somewhere, yeah? I'll see you later..." Obviously it looked like he was hiding something as he went over to his jet-black, sleek bike with the blue lifters.

"I didn't do anything!" he snapped back, huffing. "I said I might have seen something and that's it! Get off my back, woman!" He swung his legs around his bike and stared at her a long moment. "Plus, it ain't like your helmet isn't pink too. I don't see the problem!"

"You can ask Tora and Naria for paint. They collab on designs and stuff, and since Tommy is out of camp most of the time, all the responsibility is on them. Though, truthfully, Tora just paints them and nothing else." he said, eyeing the pink bike.

"Well, you'll certainly make an impression with something like that." he grumbled.

The elf sighed, then headbutted the interface of his bike. He sat back up and looked at Racie. "Well, they could. But if you wanna find Conner first..." He shrugged, patting the back of his bike.

"Then I suppose you could come with me. Runner bikes are quick."

...good thing the tips of his ears were under the head strap to his goggles. He looked back at her and raised a brow. "You better not squeeze the life outta me. Then we both go down." he told her, pushing his hands into the slits at the sides of the bike and grabbing the handles. Runner bikes were not upright. In fact, the rider had to pretty much lay down on the seat, so the position in which Racie would be clinging to him would be awkward at least.

As the bike rose and the sigh of the engine sounded off, they shot into the air, flying above camp.

"You know," he said as they flew through the air, their height increasing. Gian's eyes skimmed the ruins, calculating and serious as they always were. Of course, he thought nothing of the position. He was a Runner, and thus, did rescue missions often. Passengers always had to ride with him like this.

"Lets see...what color was his bike again?" asked Gian. "I only really remember yours and...Kalil's."

"Red? Right. In the grey ruins we should be able to see that really easy," he said, swooping down low very suddenly. He was not being very cautious, and there was a reason for that; they had not seen a Scraper for weeks. It felt great to be able to ride without having to be so stiff.

"Well, no, but you guys come from a ways away. You're new to it. Only makes sense." he said, busy with looking for Conner's bike or the man himself. He saw movement up ahead.

"Hey! I think I saw something!" he said excitedly, angling his bike toward it. Before he knew it, however, the bike jumped and fire exploded around them, sending Gian, at the least, flying through the air without the bike.

Gian watched the scene play out before him in slow motion. Though he flailed for balance, there wasn't much he could do. His bike, damaged, went down to the ground in pieces, and his body turned to see Racie falling. Also out of his reach. His brow creased and he grit his teeth.

"...dammit." he managed to say before being snatched out of the air. "Wait, no!" he cried. "Racie, Raciiie!" He tried to point.

---

And, well. Racie would keep falling. She almost landed, too, but just a foot from the ground she would be snatched up and held bridal-style, zooming through the air. Her savior? Dressed all in black, including a helmet that masked their face. The going was smooth for some reason. They weren't on a bike, nor were they running, but they were gliding across the ground.

All because of a hoverboard, too.

The rider smirked behind the mask, but after noting that Racie couldn't see it, sighed. He flipped the visor on the helmet, revealing none other than the Korean biker. "Heeey there, gorgeous!" he told her, smirking once more now that she could look at it. "We just got some new tech. Pretty cool, huh? Hoverboards!" He let out a loud laugh, but after seeing a few other figures dodge between the ruins, he frowned.

"Ahh...hold on tight! Making sharp turns! There's Scrapers in the ruins again!"

---

"We were trying to find Conner!" said Gian. "I don't know what happened! My bike just blew up! There must be Scrapers come back again." he said. "I dunno who that guy is! But you gotta fly fast! Whoever the attacker is, they got a rocket!"

"Yeah, so get going!" said Gian, clinging to Kalil tightly just in case they were hit again. He listened on for the call to Connor. Gian wasn't sure how much there were. "We should get back in camp! Can you ask Naria to get the rejection shields up?" he asked. "We might not be able to get back in, but then the Scrapers cant, either! We just gotta fly high!"

----

Jack kept dodging in and out of the ruins, trying to fly out into a clearing so they could gain speed. "Hey, it's fine! We'll be fine!" he said to Racie. Just then, a piece of stone burst into pieces next to them. Jack cried out, trying to bounce his board off of an adjacent ruin to get away quickly. It worked, but gunshots followed.

"God damn it! I think there's two of them!"

The transmission came through clear, if slightly delayed. "Got it. Already got the signal. Putting them up now. All but the peak will be covered by the rejection shields. You can get in that way." came the smooth, apathetic voice of no one but the cyborg. A wave pulsed across the dome above the camp, and a large force pushed outward before stabilizing.

---

As the spray of bullets came down, there were grunts, then an explosion down below. There, metal and flesh sprayed out onto the ground. Jack saw this. He wrinkled his nose. "Ewwwww." he said. He kept his eyes in front of him, though, and rebounded from several walls to gain air above the ruins. The wave pushed him back a bit.

"Ah. We got the rejection field in. And it looks like they killed one! Yeah!" A bullet whizzed past him.

"MORE MORE MORE!" he screamed as he kicked the hoverboard into action. Before he could dip fast enough, a bullet caught him in the shoulder. He paused, lurched forward, and nearly screamed. However, he kept going.

Jack grit his teeth, then flipped the visor back on. He had to keep on lest they both go down. "We'll find a way. The board can go high, but we need lift." he said quietly, urging them to shoot forward. The arm of the shot shoulder began to lose grip on Racie's legs.

"We gotta just give them upward momentum! They can take lift from your bikes!" said Gian, having practiced with these before. "Follow them! Let me talk to Jack!"

Turning around, he yelled back to the hoverboarder. "Jack, get in between Connor and Kalil! Like being in an alleyway!"

Jack shook his head to Racie, though the pain was so much that he lowered her anyway. He had special shoes to be able to hold onto the board, so it might have been a little slippery to Racie. Because of this, he kept his other arm firmly around her.

"Alright! So as-" A rocket zoomed under them, cutting Gian off. "-ah. As Jack bounces off one, just keep going higher, alright? We only need to go up a little way...now..."

As Jack's board came close, Gian lifted his arm. "Go! Rise!" he called, just as Jack tried to bounce from Kalil's bike and onto Conner's.

Gian was sleeping. However, he was not sleeping in his bed. He was sitting on a crate, right at the edge of the barrier, with his hand in his cheek and his eyes closed. His black hair flopped into his face, and his goggles were dangling from his knee.

It was no surprise that Gian was tired. After scouting all day yesterday and all of last night, he had absolutely no sleep until now. Even then, it was difficult, with his head bobbling between sleep and wake as his cheek slipped out of his hand.

As a finger came in contact with the elf's cheek, and a voice was heard, Gian sprung into action. Being at the edge was dangerous, and in fact, he was supposed to keep watch, so any action close to him registered "Scraper."

"AHH! Ahhh, hyah!" he cried, rocketing onto his feet and retrieving his Tesla pistol, which he aimed to Racie. His eyes were haunted, and he breathed heavily. After a few moments of looking at the Pigeon, his arms dropped.

"...Racie?"

Shaking his head, the elf put the gun back into his holster. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to...why are you here?" he asked, gesturing to her. His eyes went from haunted to tired once more. There were small bags under them.

"I haven't been in the best mood. I'm...sorry. Tired."

"I do no- hey! No, I can't go. I'm supposed to keep watch!" he said, protesting with all his might. Exhausted might, that was. "You saw me? Just saw me? Phhht," he groaned, raising a brow. "Listen, I have to keep right here until Jack clocks in, but knowing him, he's either in one of the tents with some girl or planning to that much. He had a day off, and he always takes that too far, but that means Ace'll come soon, alright?"
