Ahem, as an ALL POWERFUL, SHAPE-SHIFTING DJINN, I may assume any appearance I wish. Some of the stronger Djinn like some strange half human, half animal hybrid creatures, head of a bird kind of thing, but I like blending in with you humans. I'm also not a powerful Djinn. As I said, I could look like anything, even your dog! But usually I look like your average person, except an attractive , young, gender-neutral-looking, Arab person with shaggy red hair and solid gold eyes. I am also usually an average 5'6" and very fit looking. With this form I normally wear baggy, stained pants tucked into camel leather boots, a ghutra, and a gold chest plate, because I ain't afraid of the heat. I'm really not.
Personality: what kind of person is this, what's their general demeanor?
What an awful question. Some humans would say Djinn are not people, while some Djinn would say we are even better than lowly humans. Lemme say that I am thoughtful and grateful to not be trapped in a jar for another decade. I like being me, what else is there to say? If I had to pick an alignment, I would say neutral neutral. I like helping people, but even I have my unhappy tendencies. Djinn, as written in the holy text, are just like humans in their capacity for good and evil. I won't pretend I am different. I do, however, love showing the joys of magic and being a Djinn.
Equipment & Abilities: in your character's adventures, what do they rely on to get them through trouble?
I have my aforementioned clothing on that particular transformation. My powers, to other Djinns and powerful sorceresses, are quite minimal and lacking. I am Djinn born, or created, into the lowest of the Djinn caste system. My magical abilities compare to that of most human mages. I am quite talented at creation magic, and magic in general, as all Djinn are. I can also shape-shift, but you knew that already. If I am in trouble, I will throw around some magic until it goes away; if it does not, well, I run or float or fly away, anything. I am not a brute like the stronger genies with their hulking personalities and the massive bodies which they often assume as a way to show their power, pride, and bravado.
Historical Background: how was your character's childhood, how did they get where they are today?
Childhood? HA! You humans sustain such short lives, like a dirty fire in the desert. We Djinn do not know for certain how we came to be, but we do know we are all children of Allah. What I remember... I was traveling Djinn, helping the humans, befriending them too, it WAS nice. When the humans decided we were tools, I could not escape into heaven or purgatory or hell in time; the humans trapped me in a jar. A JAR! Like an insect. At least it was very elegant. The jar, my prison, currently is a beautiful azure blown glass container sealed with a creamy ceramic cork. I await a master. I pray for a companion.
Will this do?
I hope it's not too passé, simple, or coomon, master.
