Description

Image
The Withered Lotus
Giselle, once a bright, vibrant girl with long red hair and stunning eyes, has now become a mere ghost of what she used to be. Her skin, before a dark tan, has turned to a sickly pallid that almost seems translucent. Her hair, which in the past was thick and long and natural, has become a shocking, unattractive red, too much in contrast with her skin. It has also thinned out, and clings closely to her head. Even her eyes; how cheerful and lovely they were.

Now swimming with fear, bitterness, and malice.

Age: 22
Birth Date: February 9th

Species: Human
Race: Caucasian

Nationality: Terran
Place of Birth: Alternate Earth, New York Haven
Current Residence: Wing City

Eye Color: Green

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 113 lbs

Position: Former Combatant
Hoverbike:

Equipment:

  1. The cuffs on her hands, made of hard metal, with programming and gears that are visible underneath the bits of plastic on the devices. On the backs of them are broad screens with many graphs and charts that constantly flux and change. On the other side of the cuffs, that lead to the inside of her wrists, are small tube-like holes that dig into her wrists and lead to a vein. They are access tubes for needles, when the small A.I that follow her need to inject her with drugs when the haunting of her torture bother her.

  2. The aforementioned A.I that follow her. They are hovering spherical machines with three bright optics and many little mechanics, one of which are the needles that they can deploy to flood Giselle's veins with .

  3. The shock collar. In a time that the serum might fail, this is used so that Giselle cannot come to harm another person in her sudden bursts of insanity. This is a last resort, as such harsh treatment causes her to shrink back into the days of her torture.

So begins...

As Sharar approached, there was a loud whine. The beeps came in such an abundance that it would inspire panic in any skittish human. It sounded like a bomb.

Something bulleted out of the bushes.

It was a small, spherical grey object, about the size of a softball, with a round optic, much like a camera lens, in the center. On the sides, it had two small arms.

It yelled and complained at Sharar in a furious flurry of beeps.

The machine's light flashed red.

He may have been invisible, but his footprints weren't. The machine crossed its arms, and beeped once.

It demanded an explanation.

Quite coincidentally, another light began to flicker onto the machine's interface right as Sharar reached for it. It darted upward, turning away from it.

"Woooop." it sounded, floating forward. Right in the opposite direction of the soldier.

The thing felt itself being halted in its tracks. It turned around, backpedaling as it fought against the pull.

In the bushes, there was a small groan.

The thing turned around again, looking down. It took one of its arms and began to point down, behind the foliage. Even as it began to accelerate towards Sharar

From the foliage came a white hand.

More pallid than a sheet of paper, the sun shone from the skin almost blindingly. The limb was skinny. One could go so far as to say it was emaciated. It planted its palm flat onto the grass, and dragged with it the owner that showed its own blanched, scraggy likeness.

Once upon a time, she must have been beautiful. Her hair was such a bright, vivid red in contrast with her skin, though it was thin, dead hair. Her eyes were a soft brown, however, they were filled with a fear and plenty of anxiety.

She was barely wearing more than a loose red shift that barely came down to her thighs, a metal collar around her neck, and similar cuffs around her wrist. She stumbled out so weakly, so helplessly. As though she shared the mind of a child.

The girl looked up at Sharar.

There was a split second where all she did was stare back blankly. Those moments never lasted very long.

Her eyes dilated, and suddenly she dropped onto her back, scooching backwards as fast as she could. She shook her head, crying bloody murder.

The little robot began to squirm in Sharar's hands.

Her hands flew up to try and ply away his own. Tears flew from her eyes as she panicked. "Mah! Mah!" she cried between his fingers. She could not make out cohesive words. Her brain, processing the rapidly spinning world around her, filled with too many sights and sounds, could not keep up.

Something came in on the comm unit. A familiar voice.

"Sharar...let the robot go," said Tora. "And take off your helmet. That might make things a little better for you. I wasn't sure if she would actually of survived. I can't come down, though. I'm watching from above, so I have your back. Don't worry."

Meanwhile, Giselle flailed, kicked, all too weakly to do a thing to a trained soldier like Sharar.

As her invisible assailant showed himself, the poor girl's body began to spasm. She did not do well with stress, both mentally and physically. They had everything to do with one another.

"Sharar!" came Tora's voice on the comm unit, furious and stern, "Just let the damn robot go! It's a hovering medical unit! She needs the medicine!"

The statement was null when Sharar took his helmet off. The girl turned her head to look right in his eyes. It was not just him she was noticing, however.

After a few long seconds, the spasms calmed.

The woman on her hoverbike far above the treeline could have smacked herself.

"Sharar, don't. Those aren't restraints," she explained, "They're keeping her skin pierced so that the medical A.I can inject sedatives when she's going crazy. Don't cut them!"

The girl in question was limp, looking much like a child who had been having a temper tantrum for hours and had just shut down. Her breathing was labored, and her cheeks were wet with tears.

"Yeah, go ahead. Gently. Her bones are like pencils. And by the way, her name is Giselle. Hart."

And she was more needy than a newborn child. There she lay, with the small hovering unit above her, beeping softly.

She did not reach her hand out to take his. Instead, the girl settled on staring once more. She must not of understood what he was trying to say, or else was too tired to comply. The robot reached its tiny claws out to take her wrist, trying to drag her away, at least from out of the sun. Already, the woman's skin began to pinken with sunburn.

The woman clamped onto him the moment she was thrown over his shoulder. She let out a quick gasp.

The A.I unit seemed concerned, turning its camera between Sharar and Giselle hastily. Even so, Giselle did not argue. Just held on.

"Alright. Just get her to the hotel we're all staying in. It's the only place we have right now."

Giselle's tiny hands grabbed his shoulder, and the girl nodded.

"Okay."

It was the first word she had said all day. The HMU's lens twisted from side to side. It would be following them.

Giselle curled her legs to her chest, giving Sharar a doe eyed stare. It must not have mattered to her, how much they had been worried.

The hovering medic unit settled onto the bench next to Giselle, clasping its hands together. Both were staring at Sharar expectantly.

Even the advanced security of a Gadget base could not keep Giselle confined.

She had cleverly escaped the apartment, though she had not escaped the HMU's- mechanic AI in the size of baseballs- that now hovered around her. She had swatted at them a few times, but they simply floated out of the way, where she could not reach them.

With a huff, the girl simply hugged the coat more closely to her, tugging at a scarf more vivid than the hair atop her head. She walked down the sidewalk, flinching away from the snow.

Her eye spotted a sign, which promised sanctuary from the frigid air.

Pushing the door open, Giselle entered Canti's, eyes wide with bewilderment. The rest of Gadget had not carried her anywhere since they arrived. So what was this place, and why was it here? It certainly was warm.

However, her mind was taken away from everything as one of the HMU's floated forward to brush the snow from her hair. Giselle let out a troubled whine and stepped back, squeezing her eyes shut.

The spheres rose into the air at the young man's approach, lenses, like one would expect to see on a camera, zooming in to study him critically.

Th young girl, as well, froze, arms tucked in to her chest as she hid behind her own scarf. After a moment of her face turning extremely pink, she rose a hand to timidly give a small, hesitant wave.

"...very." she replied, nodding. One of the floating AI let out a small whine.

Giselle stood in place, watching him turn before giving him a slightly vacant stare.

Then, with her eyes pointed to the ground, she smiled, shoulders bobbling in a silent laugh. She walked forward, just as hesitantly as before, toward the young man, each step very slow and careful, as though her legs would simply snap in two otherwise.

"Okay." she said, never minding the spheres that floated around her. Not anymore. For some reason, in public, they did their best not to trouble her.
