Description

Gong Yu is about 5'8" and 150lbs, most of it solid muscle; she is also fairly curvaceous, with a small waist and wide hips. She is dressed in a simple linen shift and gladiator sandals, and has a leather satchel slung over one shoulder. A roman short sword, or gladius, hangs from a belt encircling her hips. She is of mostly chinese and partially maasai descent, and has wide almond-shaped brown eyes, plump lips, dark skin, and straight, shiny, thick black hair. Her smile is hard-won but her good nature is evident.

Personality

Gong Yu is easygoing, friendly, and open. She will tell her life story to just about anyone, and she is very fond of food, but will not drink alcohol other than wine; she considers it 'uncivilized'.

Equipment

In Gong Yu's satchel are a few things; a small and very sharp knife, a bundle of finely-made arrowheads, a pouch full of mostly silver and copper coins, a few different cloths, a woolen cloak, olive oil soap wrapped in parchment, a fine-toothed ivory comb, a wider-toothed wooden comb, and various other odds and ends. She also carries at her hip a roman short sword, or gladius, which she uses as infrequently as possible.

History

Gong Yu was raised a slave, born of slaves, bred to be what she was; an exotic female gladiator - a gladiatrix. She so devastated her male, human opponents, to such rage from the crowd, that soon she began fighting only animals. Lions, tigers, bears, wolves - she has fought and slain the most deadly of land animals with only a spear and a short sword. After her five hundredth consecutive win, she was freed from slavery, as that had been her condition. She no longer fights; she has seen enough blood.

She is also a virgin - raised among slaves, she was too valuable as a fighter to permit her to breed. She was kept in women's-only quarters, and has only seen men in the form of her handlers - mostly eunuchs - and her opponents in the arena, who she decimated. Gong Yu has plenty of experience with women, but is almost clueless when it comes to men.

Gong Yu pushes the door open and walks in, leather-sandaled feet slapping against wood floor, and walks up to the bar. She smiles at the barkeep. "Want wine, please." she murmurs through thick lips, "and soup if have it, yes? I give money for this." she counts out a a few quarter-ounce silver coins onto the bar and smiles. "Thank you." she says, and goes to sit at a booth. She slings her shoulder satchel down onto the bench seat and sits at the table, folds her arms, and lays her head on them, staring out the window peacefully.

Gong Yu looks up and leans back as a waitress appears and places the soup and wine in front of her. "Thank much," Gong Yu says with a smile, "You good girl. Make good tip, yes? Yes. Thank." She takes a sip of her wine, then begins to eat her soup.
