[Evenings with Barbara Goodwin, 3/21/2054 Transcript]
Barbara Goodwin: Hello Mr. Killian, I'm Barbara Goodwin. Thank you for coming in today!
Henry Killian: Pleasure to be here Barbara.
Barbara: I've heard a lot about you, but how about you tell us a bit about yourself?
Henry: No harm in that. Alright. My name is Henry Killian, CEO and Founder of Killian Systems. My lovely wife, Shelby Killian, helps me run it day in day out. I have two daughters, Katie and Violet, who both just turned fourteen last week.
Barbara: What was your life like growing up?
Henry: I was outdoors all the time. I used to hunt in the woods around my house when I was twelve. I was fascinated in how that little twenty two semi auto worked, and from there, it just clicked for me. Later on, I joined the Colonial Militia out on Dratheus IV, and retired at the rank of Sergeant Major. After all that, I started Killian Systems, which was originally just a weapons company, but later went on to biomedical systems and advanced tech.
Barbara: As well as bioengineering, right? There's been some recent controversy on that topic. Tell me, how did your company get into that field in particular...?
Henry: We went into bioengineering as a result of a trip to a not so well known planet called Focus. That place was hell. The people there were being overworked, underpayed, and put into dangerous conditions. Because of this, I started a bioengineering wing of KS, and the Focus Fund, which gathered money to feed the people of Focus. The bioengineering we did were things like biomechanical prosthetics, the engineering of special implants that made the user immune to certain diseases, and other such things that those people would need.
Barbara: But recently those implants and your company's technology has been put to more... Militaristic uses? Like on Parthenon. Were you planning on using them for that when they were developed?
Henry: These systems have applications in various fields. The military forces on Parthenon have been dealing with non stop attacks by rebels for going on three years now. They need an edge. I gave it to them.
Barbara: I see. But what can we expect from the future of your company? In what direction are you planning to go next?
Henry: Heh, I can't really say much on that right now. But trust me, we got big plans coming. Got a big announcement planned for this years SciComm Expo. Come on by if your interested.
Barbara: I'll make sure to do that. If I can bother you for one more question, can you describe the nature of the augmentations that you've supplied the army with?
Henry: As open as I've always been with the community, for the safety of myself and my clients, I'm not at liberty to say.
Barbara: I see. Well, with that, the interview is just about wrapped up. Thank you for your time, Henry, it was good to have you.
Henry: Thank you for having me on.
