History

He was born a normal owl in a set of two, to a large family of Great Grays in a forest far away. His given name was Holutu, and his brother was named Luhotu. He was a bit large for his age always. Wuhuutu, his father, embraced this. Luhotu, on the contrary, was the smaller of the two. Holutu was the favored child, and learned to fly before his twin. On the day he completed his flight training, there was a great ceremony! The twin owl didn't mind, for he liked life in the nest. Even though he was Great, Holutu helped his mother Uutu raise his other siblings when more hatched. Normally, when a male in the Tu family blood line became great, the following day was the start of battle training. This was not so for Holutu, until of course Luhotu learned to fly. The day after Luhotu became Great, Holutu was whisked away by his father to begin lessons on battle. Luhotu embraced nest life, even as a male.

One horrible day, the forest was raided by poachers, trappers, and tamers. The animals had another idea. Wuhuutu himself lead the uprising, and was proud to have Holutu on the wing. The battle was rich, even the deer joined in! Luhotu and Uutu were able to successfully evacuate most of the aviary population, and the front lines were holding strong until...
Blinded by owl droppings, an unknowing poacher rabidly swung around his torch, singing the wing of Holutu. He was down! Captured! Wuhuutu vainly tried to save his son, but was stabbed and sliced until death.

Holutu was collared and sold as a slave. He was spunky, the tamers gave him that, and donned him with the name "Spitgray". He refused to respond to it, naturally. His name was Holutu, he was of the Tu blood line, and he would avenge his father. He was bought by a hunter who wished to use him instead of a weapon, a task he didn't mind all that much. His Master renamed him "Hooty," which wasn't all so far off from his original name. He supposed, since the man fed and watered and sheltered him, he would respond. He would hone and tone his skills.

The sky was smeared in blood the night he killed his master and flew away, flew towards the forest he belonged in.

He was instead swept away, by a windstorm, into a land unfamiliar. It was dead and strange.
He came across a large castle growing out of the mountains and peaks.

No living thing has crossed the threshold of these lands in three thousand years!

A voice boomed from the darkness, and then there was nothing but a green flash.

The following 600 years consisted of doing Helyns dirty work, for with a large ball of glass she showed him the death of his family. She enchanted him, and he finds he has powers.
They can also communicate telepathically.

So begins...

Not a bad gift, in his opinion. He clicked his beak to show his approve, and even let out a soft coo.

Holutu plunged through the thin clouds,
The moon on his wing.
He could have sworn
He heard a woman sing.
Could it be his mistress,
Her song on the night?
With her image in mind,
He descended in flight.

As the owl flew closer,
He became confused.
This was not his mistress,
But she left him bemused.
Her hair was not midnight,
But red and ablaze!
Such beautiful locks,
They deserved praise.

The Great Gray Owl,
Soft beneath metal plating,
Flew gracefully down
To where the female was waiting.
He stretched out his legs,
And extended a wing,
He puffed out his chest,
And began to sing.

He quaked in response
To the sirens touch.
He loved being pet,
Loved it very much.

He blinked, once, twice,
At the siren as she spoke.
He ruffled his feathers,
The color of smoke.
Emmalyne was her name,
He thought in his mind,
Such a beautiful woman,
And she was so kind!

Holutu snapped out his wings,
and shook his tail.
He clicked his beak twice,
Preparing to sail.

Alas, his time here
Was running short.
He had to return to
His previous sport.

With a flick of his feathers,
He hovered in the air,
He didn't mean
To leave with no care.

A piercing screech,
He sent through the night,
As towards the moon
He ascended in flight.

Goodbye, sweet siren,
He meant to say,
Perhaps we shall meet
Another day.

perched on the roof of Gambits, peering down at the sidewalk below. Perhaps tonight wasn't the best of nights to wander free from Mistress, but...
Adventure called to him. The wind gently lifted his feathers from his flesh, and it was on that stream of air he would descend. Flicking his wings outward, he fell forwards into the night, plunging towards the ground. Before he struck earth, Holutu fanned his tail, ]

He extended his legs and landed on the walk, feeling the cement beneathe his talons. It felt odd, but he hobbled on forward, wings out at an odd angle towards the door of the bar.

Holutu exploded into the night in a flurry of feathers, dipping to the left with a flick of his wings, and himself hooting like hell. If one listened closely enough, they would swear to have heard the owl speak. Holutu sloppily landed but five feet above the clumsy legged man, and glared.

Continuing to glare, Holutu debated even responding. Surely the man had heard him the first time! With a shake of his tail, the owl readjusted his wings and clicked his beak thrice.

"Inheed! Eshoose yoo! Wotur heet!"

Holutu used this opportunity to soar inside, landing himself on a table in the center of the room. The owl barely had to flap as he descended, wooshing past the flame haired man and into Gambits bar.
There he stood, one foot flat on the table, the other tucked up underneathe himself.

"Smoooooooot" Holutu hooed as sarcastically as an owl could manage. After rolling his head, for he could not roll his eyes, he swung the hidden leg up towards his neck. Curling his talon into a fist, Holutu began to stroke his feathers, churring. It was good to be an owl.

Holutu clicked his beak a few times at the man, rounding his gacze fully on him.

"Wot?" Oh yes, he was gloating.

He clicked his beak angrily, then rolling his head rapidly, before snapping it in the direction of the one who spoke.

"Poret?" Holutu blinked. He flicked his gaze towards the hand, then back towards the man. He was useless, really.

"Poret hi not, lohdi," His tone was gentle, and he bowed in response. Suddenly, his internal clock dinged, and his eyes widened.

"Eshoos!" He flicked out his wings, and barreled towards the door. As he approached, he screeched, a small cloud of gray coming from his beak. Into it he flew, and then he was gone.

Holutu descended from the sky,
Gliding in on vast gray wings.
Pinpointing a tree,
It's branches high,
He landed above the groundly things.
A single hoot would mark his place,
If she even payed him heed.
Not many would see his feathered face,
From up here she was hard to read.
With an angled head he listened close,
Contemplating his aviary approach.

Viewing a curious thing beneathe.
It was quite the curious shape,

Holutu wondered where this path could have lead,
Or what could have caused it to grow so worn.
Perhaps this is where the humans did tread,
Through the landscape, the earth was torn.
Would this be where Holutu would rest?
Or perhaps he would fly back west.

His thoughts were clear, as was his sight.
These ruins were strange, even from this high,
Perhaps he should continue through the sky.

Plants fruitiful.
However he knew here he could not stay,

Holutu liked the feel of these woods,
The trees reminding him of his past.
He would stay here if he could,
But this destination was not his last.
With a sigh, the owl flapped his wings,
Moving on to different things.

Flying in over the path.
It twisted this way, over here,
It twisted over there like that.
He flapped his wings with grace,
This path would lead to what place?
