ImagePERSONALITY

As a child, Hotaru was a very loving and caring boy. He was often rash and a bit of a loud mouth but generally a good kid. He took his training semi-seriously and had dreams of becoming a famous samurai one day, even though he lacked conviction. After the death of his father, however, Hotaru become cold and withdrawn. He focused more on his training and became dedicated to self-improvement.

Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei is now considered to be a shadowy figure. He is often described as being very quiet and observant, cold and bitter, with little or no attachment to life or anything materialistic. He is devoted to the way of the samurai, though there is evidence to suggest that Hotaru may also have a split personality and sometimes he appears to be more ninja-esque in his role as an assassin.

APPEARANCES

As a child, Hotaru had long straight black hair and a ponytail with wide, round eyes that seemed to glimmer with his youthfulness. After the death of his father, however, Hotaru's appearance slowly began to change with his personality. His eyes turned red with anger and his hair slowly turned white. He cut his hair short, keeping only his ponytail which he had tied back. His smile faded into seriousness.

Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei now has many appearances which differ according to his mood and formality. Without his costume, Hotaru appears to be a normal samurai. He often wears a navy blue jacket with a yellow sash and white belt over a long-sleeved black shirt and trousers. He also wears a grey headband with black sandals. However, sometimes he wears all-white with a black belt or all-black with a white belt.

When appearing as a samurai, Hotaru may or may not be seen wearing a pair of long and short swords. These are sometimes carried on his side, or sometimes carried on his back. He almost never wears battlefield armor, but instead is known to wear chain-mail armor beneath his traditional clothing. This chain-mail protects his entire body from his ankles all the way to his hands with an added throat protector.

When appearing as an assassin, Hotaru wears a black hooded yukata or cloaked robe with a white sash. He has a red and white tomoe-shaped mask that covers his entire face except for his eyes and dresses in such a way that only one of his eyes can be seen. There is a black and red tattoo on the right side of his chest which bears his personal Yang symbol. The same Yang symbol is embroidered on his cloak in white.

BACKGROUND

In the case of most ninja, there is usually very little information about their childhood and more records to show their adulthood and fame as ninja. Hotaru, however, has an exact opposite story. There is very little known about his adulthood and status as an assassin. Hotaru appears to be very good at covering his tracks and getting rid of the evidence. More is known about his childhood and how he actually became an assassin. He was born Hino Kunimitsu, son of Hino Suketomo, a legendary samurai. His mother, Sakura, was a housewife and talented cook who took care of Suketomo's armor. From the time he was born, Hino Kunimitsu was raised in Konohagakure and trained in Bushido; the Way of the Warrior.

As a youth in Konoha, the village elders referred to Hino Kunimitsu as the young "Bearcub" and everyone always made comments that he was his father's son. He was very loud and energetic, always climbing trees and running around. Like any typical young boy, he sometimes got into mischief, but for the most part he was a well-behaved young man with great discipline and much potential. His parents taught him to be honorable and respectful, instructing him in the ways of manner and courtship. He learned calligraphy, tea-making, martial arts and how to present himself to the Emperor when the time came. Before he was even at the age of thirteen, Kunimitsu was already on his way to becoming a young prodigy.

When he was thirteen-years-old, young Kunimitsu went with his father Suketomo to Emperor Go-Daigo's palace. There, he knelt down and prostrated himself before the Emperor and was initiated into the royal court as an official samurai. Shortly afterwards, the Kumakara shogunate who influenced the Imperial Court accused Kunimitsu's father Suketomo of conspiracy. Suketomo was arrested and exiled to the Island of Sado, where he was held as a prisoner by the lay monk Homma Saburo, who presided over Sado Island from his fortified temple. Although he was innocent, the Kumakara shogunate convinced the naive Emperor that Suketomo was dangerous and called for his immediate execution on Sado Island.

Hearing this news, Kunimitsu tried to pick up his father's weapons and armor in an act to avenge him, but Kunimitsu's mother Sakura forbid the young man from pursuing the aggressors, stating that it would be a shame to lose both her husband and her son in the same day. Deeply heartbroken, Kunimitsu obeyed his mother Sakura and instead went to the Imperial Court to request an audience with his father before the execution. His request was granted and the young Bearcub marched barefoot all the way to Sado Island to be with his father one last time. It is said that the Hino family was so poor, they could not afford horses or quality swords, so Kunimitsu walked all the way on foot without carrying any weapons.

Once he reached Sado Island, he was granted an audience with Homma Saburo who promised to allow Kunimitsu to speak to his father before the execution. The thirteen-year-old boy was allowed to stay the night in the lay monk's fortress, where he eagerly awaited a visitation with his father. However, the reunion would never take place. Homma Saburo, going back on his word, ordered the execution of Suketomo while Kunimitsu was still asleep. Suketomo was forced to commit seppuku, just before sunrise. It is said he chose a warrior's suicide, with great discipline and honor. Suketomo drew the blade across his stomach very slowly, never once whincing or crying out in pain. With his honor intact, he was cleanly beheaded.

Suketomo's head was presented to the Emperor, while his body was cremated. His ashes were presented in a bag to Kunimitsu, who fell ill and pretended to be sick. He was allowed to stay in Saburo's temple fortress until he got better. Homma Saburo took care of the thirteen-year-old manchild, unaware that Kunimitsu was secretly plotting his father's revenge. He used his time on Sado to sneak around at night and scout the island, until finally he discovered Homma Saburo's bedchamber. Saburo was asleep, but the lanturns were lit and there were guards standing just outside. Kunimitsu knew there was no way he would be able to sneak into Saburo's bedchamber without being caught, so he devised a clever plan.

Gathering some moths that he found, Kunimitsu cracked open the sliding door to Saburo's bedchamber and released the moths into Saburo's room. Being attracted to the light, the moths fluttered around and extinguished all the lanturns in the room. Kunimitsu then slid the door open and snuck into Saburo's bedchamber, finding the lay monk sound asleep in his bed. Having no weapons of his own, Kunimitsu picked up Saburo's sword and unsheathed it. Being raised by his father to respect the code of honor, however, Kunimitsu refused to kill Saburo in his sleep. So instead, he woke Saburo from his sleep and waited for his eyes to open. In this way, Saburo would look into the eyes of the person who killed him. Kunimitsu's eyes were red with hatred.

Before he could react, Saburo found himself thrust through the chest with his own sword. Kunimitsu had assassinated him in his own bedchamber, bringing disgrace to Saburo and his imperial guards. The guards were immediately alerted by Saburo's dying cry, but before they could catch him, Kunimitsu ran and took to hiding inside the fortress. As the search team was sent out to track him down, Kunimitsu climbed up on top of the fortress walls, only to find a deep moat surrounding the entire temple. Being still young and of small stature, Kunimitsu climbed one of the bamboo shoots and used his own bodyweight to bend it until he was able to climb over the moat and drop down on the other side. The guards were too heavy to climb the shoots without breaking them, so they had no choice but to watch in horror as Kunimitsu escaped the island.

PRESENTLY

Hino Kunimitsu now goes by the name Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei, a shadowy figure who lives in solitude at Ninna-ji in western Kyoto, the head temple of the Omuro school of Shingon Buddhist teachings. Not much is known about Hotaru, except that he venerates Amida Buddha and adheres to a strict moral code of discipline and honor. He wears the black hooded cloak of a reclusive monk, although a rumor exists that Hotaru is a dark and powerful sorceror. One urban legend suggests that Hotaru might even be a ghost, demon or some other kind of spirit who lives deep in the forests of Ninna-ji, occassionally haunting the temple gardens and landscape. He is now 30-years-old and there is no other swordsman in Kyoto who can match his resolve or skillfulness as a samurai. Despite the many rumors about him, Hotaru is treated with honor and respect amongst those who encounter him. Few are his enemies and many are those who fear him. He is often considered to be a kind and gentle soul, despite his reputation as a formidable assassin. Young warriors and teenagers have sometimes begged Hotaru to guide them and instruct them in the way of the samurai, but Hotaru refuses to take any students and instead believes that young warriors should practice their education and seek a life of peace and fidelity.

ABILITIES

Since a very young age, Hotaru has been known to be exceptionally strong for his ability to use the mind reading technique and predict his opponent's movement or see their memories. As he got older, his mind reading ability became stronger and stronger. Hotaru's mind reading ability is unique because it does not require physical contact. Hotaru only needs to be in the same vicinity as the intended target. While he was still a child, Hotaru began learning the spirit transformation technique from his father. After his father passed away, Hotaru later developed the spirit transformation technique on his own. He even surpassed his father in skill level and ability. This technique allows Hotaru to use his spirit as a secondary body apart from himself.

Hotaru is now able to travel vast distances without any signs of weakening or losing strength. His spirit can operate outside of his body for hours without having to return to him. Hotaru can use his spirit to influence the physical world, even using his spirit to touch or move physical objects. Becoming an expert at the spirit transformation technique, Hotaru learned that he can control both his body and spirit simultaneously as long as they are still in contact with one another. This essentially gives Hotaru a secondary body that is able to fight from within him, blocking and attacking enemies that Hotaru himself cannot act against. By combining these two abilities, Hotaru developed his own unique style of fighting known as the Body-Mind Style of Taijutsu.

WEAKNESSES

Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei is renowned for being one of the best swordsmen in the country with very few weaknesses. He can project his spirit away from his body for long periods of time without losing any power. However, to do this requires some amount of meditation or concentration which sometimes leaves him vulnerable. The longer his spirit roams without contact with his body, the weaker Hotaru becomes physically. As soon as his spirit returns to his body, however, the quicker his strength is regained. Like all human beings, Hotaru requires a sufficient amount of nutrition and rest. After many years of discipline and training, Hotaru has learned to exist on just the bare minimum amount of food and sleep needed to survive. By slowly ingesting small doses of poison for many years, Hotaru has also strengthened his immune system and is now immune to most food poisons. However, he is still human and as a human he is still vulnerable to certain elements and diseases. He is also aging slowly, which does not appear to have effected his resolve in any way. Aging has only made him faster and stronger, wiser and more content with his own mortality. Hotaru knows that some day, he must die. But right now, Hotaru is in his prime and does not show any signs of growing old or weak. As time passes, it can only be assumed that as his body gets weaker, his spirit will grow even stronger.

Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei, better known in his Konohagakure hometown as the "Firefly," could suddenly be spotted walking casually through one of the streets of Wing City, wearing a navy blue jacket with a yellow sash and white belt over a long-sleeved black shirt and trousers. He was also wearing a grey headband with black sandals. Hotaru was new in town, a stranger who easily blended in with the busy town-folk as he made his way to the Master's Dojo, going there specifically to get away from all the commotion. Hotaru was a reclusive character who preferred to be alone whenever possible. His attire showed that he was going to the Master's Dojo specifically to train. Although he got a few odd looks from some of the non-martial folks in the area, nobody dared to bother him as he stopped casually at the sign on the fence which said "Master's Dojo," bowing respectfully to the sign before stepping through the gate. His light footsteps carried him slowly up the dirt path to the main entrance, where Hotaru would stop for a moment before looking around at the decorative surroundings. There were a few Bonsai trees arranged in nice little flower pots on either side of the open doorway as he approached the stone porch steps. Removing his sandals by the doorway, Hotaru would bow again before entering the Master's Dojo with his bare feet.

Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei, the Ghost of Konoha, was a Ronin samurai from a clan that had once been loyal to Emperor Go-Daigo before they were wiped out by their shogunate conspirators. Hotaru had left Ninna-ji Temple in western Kyoto and gone into exile on the Chinese inhabited island of Okinawa shortly after he avenged the death of his father, Hino Suketomo, a well-respected samurai retainer. Although it had been many years since he first started distancing himself from society, Hotaru still honored the old code and lived according to Bushido, the way of the samurai. He was a foreigner to Wing City who did not have many friends, or enemies for that matter. Hotaru had never met the individual they called the Master, but he paid his own respects, regardless. He was hoping the Master's Dojo would be empty, as he preferred to be alone when he trained. Hotaru was relieved to discover that nobody had been there in quite some time. Making his way passed the main training hall into the back towards the advanced training hall, Hotaru acknowledged all the ancient scrolls and portrait paintings on the walls of the Master's Dojo, including one particular portrait of the Master himself, which caused Hotaru to stop and stare at it for a moment. Hotaru would then bow his head to the Master's portrait before heading through the sliding doorway into the advanced training hall. As he stepped through, Hotaru would slowly and quietly slide the door closed behind him.

As he entered the advanced training hall, Hotaru immediately noticed an array of different weapons mounted on the walls. Taking note of the cuts and scratches on the walls and wooden floors, along with a few old blood stains and even what appeared to be bullet holes in some places, Hotaru closed his eyes and breathed deeply. He would imagine the duels that must've taken place there at one time, becoming more in-tuned with the Spirit of the Dojo, as if he had been absorbing all the emotional ties to the advanced training hall and becoming One with its shady history. He breathed deeply again, inhaling and exhaling, allowing the Spirit of the Dojo to pass through him. Hotaru was concentrating, becoming One with his environment in a sort of closed-eye meditation. As his breathing remained calm, Hotaru would open his eyes again and look around the room. He approached one of the old weapon racks on the wall, noticing all the dust from years of inactivity and neglect. It was a humbling reminder that the Way of the Warrior was ancient and that Hotaru was one of the last of a dying breed. Using his arm-sleeve, he would start to wipe down the old weapon racks one by one in an attempt to remove the dust. His movements were slow and thorough, as anyone might expect from a former samurai. There was a sense of pride and care in his motions as Hotaru started to walk around the entire training hall, very slowly from corner to corner, dusting everything off with his arm-sleeve. When he was finished, he picked up the Master's sword and examined it more closely.

Hotaru would wipe the dust and cobwebs off of the Master's sword scabbard, examining its intricate detail. Grabbing it by the hilt, he unsheathed the sword from its scabbard and inspected the blade. It was still in good shape, as the oil had preserved the metal and prevented it from rusting. Hotaru sheathed the blade and placed the sword back on the display rack above the doorway before turning to look at the empty training hall. Finding an old broom-stick in the corner of the room which had been partially broken and likely used as a weapon at one time, Hotaru slowly began sweeping the training hall. He started in the doorway first, beneath the Master's sword, working his way backwards as he swept. There was some remorse and sorrow in his eyes as he took his time, sweeping the entire area from corner to corner until he finally reached the back wall. Even as he swept, there was a certain something about Hotaru which made his movements seem almost timeless. His patience and attention to detail betrayed the look of a man who had obviously spent years training in the martial arts. Even his footsteps were reminiscent of a warrior who had once practiced endlessly. Was he actually training at the same time he was cleaning? Hotaru's sweeping motions with the broom-stick suggested that maybe he was. The town-folk who had seen him in Wing City, if they had noticed the white belt around his waist, would've only assumed that Hotaru was most likely just a student. But perhaps he was a student, in the same way as someone who was always learning. Only a trained eye would've noticed, however, that Hotaru was actually a Master in his own right. Master Hotaru, as he was sometimes referred to, was anything but normal. The white belt around his waist was a sign that he had reached a level of mastery far beyond average.

It had been years since Hotaru had set foot in a dojo. He was not the same person he used to be. Many years ago, his eyes had changed color. His hair had turned white and he had gotten a haircut, keeping only his ponytail. There was hardly anybody left who could recognize him, even without his mask. Hotaru had grown to a man, but he still meditated upon the same lessons his father had taught him as a child. As he placed the broom stick back in the corner of the advanced training hall, Hotaru would turn to his right and make his way to a small alter table. Hotaru would lite the incense burners on either side of the miniature Buddha statue on top of the alter, then raise his hands in a praying position and bow his head to the Buddha before stepping over to a rolled up bundle of straw. It was all part of his warrior tradition.

Hotaru would unroll the bundle of straw into a perfectly square training mat which took up the whole wooden floor, apart from an eight-foot walking space on all sides. Examining the straw mat, Hotaru walked around the entire peremeter before stopping at the back of the training hall. He looked straight ahead to the entrance, bowing once more to the Master's sword which hang above the doorway before stepping on to the mat. Hotaru would make his way to the very center of the mat before taking a seat on the floor, placing himself in a Half Lotus or Indian Style position. Then, resting his palms upward on his knees, Hotaru would take a deep breath before closing his eyes once again in a state of deep meditation.

Hotaru allowed his thoughts and feelings to flow freely through his mind and body without any attachments. He allowed his mind and heart to be at peace, as his breathing became quiet and his thoughts became still. His senses were now awakened and his hearing was suddenly improved. He could hear the creaking of the wooden floor boards as they expanded and contracted from the changing room temperature. He could hear the sound of a single house fly as it buzzed around harmlessly in spontaneous circles around the dojo. He could hear the air move as a mild breeze scraped lightly against the soothing wind chimes and oriental drapery. Hotaru could smell the burning incense as it cleansed the training hall and purified the air. He started to recollect his visual memories, picturing everything he had seen just before he closed his eyes. He pictured the sliding door that was closed in front of him, with the Master's sword hanging above the doorway. He pictured the altar to his right, with the Buddha figurine posted between two incense burning candles. He pictured the flat wall behind him and the weapon racks on the wall to his left, visualizing the entire training hall from top to bottom.

Hotaru was now in-tuned with his surroundings. He started to focus and meditate on what it had meant to be a warrior. He knew that his purpose was to serve and bring honor to his name. He contemplated the meaning of integrity, focusing on the knowledge that all warriors must make a full commitment to their decisions while taking responsibility for their own actions. He contemplated respect, courage, compassion, honesty, loyalty and honor. A warrior can not hide from himself, but must remain fiercely true to everyone that they are responsible for. A warrior is not foolish, but remains intelligent and heroicly strong. He is humble and selfless, with no concern for his own life. He has no fear, but is resolved from the very beginning. Hotaru was such a warrior, trained and disciplined in Bushido from the time he was born. He meditated daily upon inevitable death, loyalty and service to a man who no longer valued his purpose in life. Hotaru was alone, one of the last of a dying breed. Nevertheless, he still trained and lived as his father had instructed him to ever since he was a boy. Hotaru was a fighting machine, a true warrior. As he began to focus on his breathing, Hotaru allowed his energy to flow naturally.

Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei, the Ghost of Konoha, had been sitting silently in meditation for over a year by himself without any other company. Never speaking to anybody in all that time, Hotaru enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the Master's Dojo through all four seasons. So concentrated was Hotaru's meditation that he never moved. He neither ate, nor slept, nor moved his bowels. He had transcended all desire and had become one with his surroundings, never breaking the rhythm of his breathing and never losing much strength or energy.

As he breathed in slowly with his eyes still shut, Hotaru sensed a negative presence outside the training hall, as if someone or something was coming for him. Hotaru could literally feel the darkness at the gate as he exhaled slowly, his mind still free of all distractions. He could sense the approaching danger as hundreds of phantom-like crows with beety red eyes and black beaks took flight towards the weapon hall where Hatoru was seated. But the former samurai never moved. His focus never swayed. He remained as calm and collected as ever, like there was nothing there.

Suddenly, the whole room darkened. The wind picked up and Hotaru could actually hear the sizzling of the candlewicks as they burned out. Then came the rustling and flapping of wings as the crows suddenly entered the room through every direction, creating a vortex around Hotaru as he remained unmoving in the middle of the straw mat. Within moments, the ghostly birds would flock together to form a figure in the doorway before him. "Are you the one who would finally kill me?" The intruder asked him in a low cold voice. Hotaru finished his breathing cycle and opened his eyes slowly.

Still seated in a Half Lotus position with his hands resting palm-up on his knees, Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei seemed quite calm and relaxed. He looked around the weapon hall, taking note of the six other crows that landed in various places, perching themselves in the weapon hall. Smiling gently, Hotaru looked up at Rin and finally spoke for the first time in over a year. "No animals allowed in the dojo. Please take them outside." Hotaru's voice was soft and non-threatening, as he slowly placed his hands on the mat to stand up.

The crow's squawk a curse word at the white hair man statement. Still in his low stance Rin engaged the white hair man with blinding speed, running low to the ground toward the left side of him throwing couple of shrunken at his upper body before Rin himself still low to the ground using the shrunken as decoy went for a sweeping leg kick to white hair man's stomach with a force of a car crash behind it.

The crow's squawking was enough to trigger a response from both men. Hotaru was already fully aware of Rin's intentions, and had been since before Rin even entered the weapon hall. His mind reading ability was already in its highest state from over a year of unbroken meditation. Not that Hotaru needed his natural abilities, since his trained skills alone would have sufficed. Hotaru was a warrior trained in the ways of warfare. Rin's low stance and cold words were more than enough to alert Hotaru, even if he didn't show it.

Hotaru would spring into action as soon as the crow squawked, almost at the same time as Rin drew forth his two shuriken. With his palms now on the mat, Hotaru swiftly pushed himself backwards into a roll on the ground, allowing the shuriken to pass over his head, grazing Hotaru's hair before rolling forward and springing to his feet, just in time to meet Rin's sweep kick, which was no longer aimed at his midsection due to Hotaru's sudden change in position. As the throwing stars imbedded themselves into the weapon rack on the wall behind Hotaru, he suddenly felt Rin's right shin clash with the calf of his left leg. This was indeed painful, but not enough to cause Hotaru any severe damage as he stumbled sideways before regaining his balance.

If it was a duel the birdman wanted, then Hotaru would oblige. He turned to face his new opponent at a forty five degree angle, tightening his belt before easing into a neutral fighting stance. Hotaru slid his right foot forward slightly, bending his knees just enough so that his left heel was raised to put some flexibility and bounce to his footwork. With his left hand guarding his left side and leading forward with his right hand in front, Hotaru waved his fingers for Rin to attack again as if to greet him and welcome his next attack. "If you insist. Bring it on." Hotaru's words were deeper and louder this time, but still calm. He clenched his fists before relaxing again, maintaining his stance while keeping his eyes locked on Rin's body.

Rin stairs in amazement, not only did he invade his first attack he took that much force without broken not a single bone but making Rin break his left leg guard. The skin and black leather under it didn't have any damage, but very thought seeing his pray mock him like that brought out the predator inside Rin's blood. Rin left-blue eye and his right-red eye began to glow with anger. Getting to a standing position Rin put his full focus on the man in front of him, taking notes on all of his pray vital points and his next attack.

"So the pray thinks he can mock his predator... an not think he wasn't going to pay for it by blood." Showing his fangs in a half-smile, thinking how fun this my turn out to be. Rin shot forward like a bolt of lightening, making sure to side step before he fully reaches the white hair man. After grabbing the two shuriken with a invisable string of shadows attaching it to Rin's fingers he went into his attack, twitching his finger in a pattern might seem strange to his opponent but it wasn't without reason.

The two shuriken embedded into the wall before came to life flying themselves out and shooting for the head and neck of the white hair man with the same amount of speed when first thrown, but coming from behind now hopefully surprising his opponent. Going for sweeping kick for the leg was to draw his attention away from the danger coming from behind. If thats fails Rin was prepare to keep the momentum up by a combo of jabs and kicks targeting his opponents right side and throwing two more shuriken at the end for an added bonus.

Hotaru only smiled sarcastically with closed lips as Rin bore his vampiric fangs at him. The ronin had never encountered an Asphodelian before, but he didn't seem to be too perplexed as he suddenly whipped his foot out in an attempt to catch Rin's kicking knee, intercepting Rin's sweeping kick by pushing his leg backwards before he can generate enough momentum. Hotaru was hoping this might unbalance him as well. There's no way Hotaru's attacker could possibly be trying to disguise his intentions, right? He was One with the Spirit of the Dojo, his senses above and beyond average.

Immediately upon sending a kick with the intent of stopping a kick from the opponent, Hotaru the Firefly turned his body and leaned his head and neck in such a way as to dodge not just one of the shuriken, but both of them simultaneously as they sang passed his face again, this time towards Rin's head and neck. Hotaru did all of this while unarmored, and unarmed. Hotaru thrust his palm forward suddenly towards Rin's chest in attempt to knock him down faster, albeit harder, but with the benefit of saving Rin's life by moving him out of the shuriken's trajectory. Never once did Hotaru move without perfect balance. His stance was firm. His hands were ready to defend.

Rin had never fought a human this powerful before. The white haired man foresaw the incoming kick and countered with a strong intercepting kick of his own. And if that wasn't enough, he also sent a devastating palm strike powerful enough to shatter Rin's chest armor and send him crashing into the floor with enough force to pop the nails from the wooden floorboards. The two shurikens hit the wall with their own massive impact, missing the white haired man and Rin both by mere nano-seconds, trimming a single strand of hair from the human's head, as both warriors saw everything happening in slow motion, although it was too fast and subtle for the ordinary naked eyes to see.

As concrete dust filled the air covering a vast area around the damaged floor, one could see movement as Rin got up onto his feet shrouded by spreading dust. Rin's eyes started glowing even brighter as anger washed over him with dark fire. In his rage Rin unleashed something deep inside himself. A wave of air coming from Rin himself cleared the dust from the air in seconds.

"Esth duct'to ipurecono." (I am done playing around with you mortal.) Pointing his index finger Rin takes aim at the white haired man's chest four feet away. The air around Rin's finger started pulsating as a purple sun manifested itself at the top of Rin's extended finger tip. The output of omnite was so strong it made the smaller chunks of the damaged floor to float a little bit off the ground, even dimming the lights around Rin's attack giving impression of darkness swallowing up light. But just when Rin was about to fire two balls of black flame, something stopped him and he disengaged his attack. Everything suddenly went to normal. His brother Sin was summoning support through his communication ring. Without waste Rin opened a deep spaceline to mutable fleets to provide battle support on Sin's location.

'Waerf fireiss tiyroses" (We will finish this another time human.) As he disappeared from site leaving the area the same way he arrived.

Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei maintained his stance and posture, allowing the Asphodelian to stand up. Master Hotaru was a man who valued peace and honor. It was against his moral code to kick someone while they were down. Even now, he was unmoved by the Asphodelian's savage nature. Hotaru showed only an emotionless act of compassion for the life in front of him, as he waited patiently for Rin Darkstar to recover and regain his composure.

Within moments, a wave of dust was dispersed from around the Asphodelian as he got back up. Rin's form was glowing brighter now as Master Hotaru's hair blew backwards from the moving air around him, the loose ends on his headband also blowing over his shoulder as he stood unmoving, firmly rooted like a tree or mountain. The vampiric warrior said something in his native alien tongue which Hotaru couldn't quite make out, but the Asphodelian's body language did enough to telegraph his intentions.

As soon as Rin pointed his finger, Hotaru started to react. But before Hotaru could attack with a powerful fast kick of his own, Hotaru suddenly became blinded by a radiant neon purple light which caused him to take a step back while raising his arms to cover his eyes. Having gazed directly upon a source of omnitic energy, Hotaru's gaze was lost along with his eyesight. He would now have to rely on his other senses.

Master Hotaru pulled his headband down over his face, turning it into a fashionable blindfold before easing back into his small phasic bent knee fighting stance. Raising his hands in loose open fists to guard himself, Hotaru the Firefly could suddenly feel the darkness increasing in the Dojo around him as splinters of wood and debri started to shake and rise up at his feet. Still not one to be unresolved beforehand, Hotaru paid no attention to his own blindness. He kept his senses sharp, feeling the direction of the heat from which Rin's black fireballs were made only a few feet away.

Master Hotaru breathed in deeply through his nose, exhaling slowly through his mouth. Being already at his full potential of power, Hotaru was about to attack again when suddenly the heat disappeared. He could feel the air becoming less restricted as the darkness slowly faded. Rin would mutter something again before transmutating and then vanishing in a tornado of dark black ravens, leaving Hotaru alone to contemplate what had just happened.

After a brief moment of reflection in silence, Hotaru Konoha-No-Yurei would lower his fighting stance and sit down on the floor exactly where he was. Ironically, he was in the same exact position he started in before the duel began. He assumed the lotus position again, resting his hands palm up over the top of his knees in silent meditation. He was sitting directly in the center of the straw training mat, just as before. Concentrating on his environment once more, Master Hotaru visualized the entrance in front of him with the Master's Sword displayed above the doorway. He visualized the shrine and incense altar, and the various weapon racks on the back wall behind him. With another deep breath, he began to meditate as if nothing had ever happened.
