Jennifer Harsdorff

A young woman who loves adventure, parties, and making friends. While she's no stranger to combat, she prefers to wage war through her trusted Pokemon partners.

a character in “The Multiverse”, originally authored by RolePlayGateway, as played by LawOfTheLand

Groups

The Official Pokemon League of the Multiverse.
The United Pokemon League is the federal government of Ruula and the governing force behind it's military.

Inventory

A multipurpose device, equipped with the full encyclopedia of Pokémon, that no Pokémon Trainer should be without!

Description

Jennifer prefers to dress in the manner of one that is ready for anything, or failing that, is quickly adaptable should unforeseen circumstances befall her. There's no telling what she'll choose to wear on her brutally muscled 5 foot 4 frame on any given day, but observation will reveal that she has a tendency to don outfits that straddle the boundary between style and function, particularly during the spring and fall seasons. A favorite accessory is a forest green windbreaker jacket to go with her similarly hued irises. Her blond hair is usually kept short to stay out of the way during hard work and weight lifting.

Personality

Battle theme: Determined Eyes (ZXA Tunes)

Jennifer is always looking for an excuse to travel to previously unseen lands, though the actual motive may vary: Finding a way "home", looking for treasure, and exterminating threats to the status quo people of her persuasion need to function effectively are all possibilities, though just as often it's on a whim.

She has chosen to stick with the tried and true approach of leveling one's Pokémon and using items instead of the revolutionary new practice of "bonding," deeming it unreliable (thus allowing challengers to have more of a chance than they should have) and dangerously close to the ideals of Neo Team Plasma...once a crook, always a crook. Having recently left Terra behind to pursue the latest innovations and insights into the art and science of Pokémon battling on Ruula, she's more eager to learn something about how to battle more effectively than winning the battle, all other things being equal.

Her training regimen seems extremely unorthodox, involving several forms of heavy labor, until one takes into account her belief that Trainers should strive to improve themselves just as they would with any of their Pokémon. In her mind, if you don't want to make yourself stronger, there's no point in trying to make others stronger--you will only come off as a hypocrite. This extends to the belief that the strength of a Pokémon is an illusion--it is merely a reflection of the strength of its trainer's spirit. Having buns of steel is a nice side effect, too.

Equipment

Jennifer is almost never seen without her Pokémon-related paraphernalia, including various restoratives and power-ups for the trusted companions as well as the latest in gadgets developed with the Trainer in mind, and of course, the six precious spheres that allow her to pass as "just another tourist" when they are hidden under a coat in much the same fashion as one might conceal a more traditional weapon such as a gun or sword.

Her Pokémon are never definitively lined up, though she prefers to test the strength of a challenger's spirit with only two or three Pokémon per side to limit the damage done to the opponent's party while allowing strategy to hold its own against lucky matchups. Some of her options include the following:

Bastiodon "Castle" : Main lead. Sturdy body and high defenses ensure it always gets off at least one move. Its pitiful offenses means that this one move is usually something that messes with the foe's strategy. If the opponent is similarly inclined or tries to set up, it can deliver a powerful earthquake, ram them with its massive head, or even bounce a foe's attack back into them. Like a certain mascot, it travels by her side, looking like some kind of pug dog. Years of picking it up and cradling her baby during the smaller and lighter Shieldon days inspired her to take up weight lifting so she could still do it--and she can with a little help.

Aggron: The bruiser of the bunch. Impressive muscle powers even more impressive attacks with which to throw around its incredible weight, crushing weaker mons without a second thought and leaving dents in those that do manage to withstand its powerful blows.

Scizor: It's not that this member of the team is particularly versatile, it's just that what he does is applicable in a lot of situations. Possession of one of the most potent priority attacks in existence combined with a natural affinity for the move U-Turn and the ability to take a hit if need be makes him an incredibly valuable asset.

Ferrothorn: Everyone appreciates having a teammate that can take a hit for them. Ferrothorn is that teammate. He's no slouch on the offense either, dishing out painful Gyro Balls and Power Whips, healing itself at the foe's expense with Leech Seed, even getting immediate payback against foes that get close with his Iron Barbs.

Lucario: Nobody likes having their friend go down in the heat of battle. Lucario makes sure that this slight is repaid in kind, being able to attack both up close and from afar, always having a damn good tool for the job of making the foe pay for scoring a knockout.

Krabby: Caught during a catching demo. Trade fodder or surf HM slave? Hmm...

There's also usually a couple of Full Restores set aside for quick fixes during battle, but never more than two per fight.

History

While having a degree in automobile collision repair may look good on a resumé, the old chestnut goes that nobody wishes they'd spent more time at work when they're on their deathbed. To this end, Jennifer is full of tales where her "work hard, play hard" approach to life has gotten her into close scrapes, but the fact that she's alive after so many misadventures speaks for itself, at least in her mind.

So begins...

Jennifer Harsdorff staggers into the bar. Why a city this size didn't even have something like a Pokemon Center was a question that had to be answered before she would allow herself to rest for the night.

Jennifer Harsdorff was shagged out from literally days of walking the streets without seeing a single red-roofed building, but seeing someone swinging a sword at another person immediately kicked her danger senses into high gear. Reaching under her green windbreaker, she took out a fist-sized orb that was half red and half white from somewhere around her waist.

Jennifer Harsdorff opens the ball with a loud popping sound, and out of it materializes a blue and black figure that in some ways resembled both a wolf and a human, though smaller than either.

Jennifer Harsdorff is stunned by the sudden appearance and surprise attack on her beloved Steel Jackal. There was only one way out of this, and it wasn't going to be pretty for the assailant.

Jennifer Harsdorff watches nervously as her pet beast erupts in a withering flurry of punches and kicks, all with the goal of doing as much damage as possible to whatever had tried to take it from behind.

Jennifer Harsdorff trusted in her Lucario to know how to counter a Mega Kick, and her faith was rewarded with the monster stepping inward and to the side of the offending limb, then opening its jaws and attempting to bite viciously into the thigh of its opponent's non-kicking leg.

Jennifer Harsdorff is more shocked than before when the Pokemon world's equivalent of the bogeyman, Darkrai, dares to show itself to the world. Seeing as how Lucario was already locked in combat, it looked like she had little choice but to attempt a two on two.

Jennifer Harsdorff ordered Lucario to disengage from whatever the hell it had been fighting in order to watch Darkrai like a hawk while Jirachi came to the rescue, launching a potent psychic assault on Pryo's entire body.

Jennifer Harsdorff tried and failed to split her attention between the current threat of the dragon and this potential challenger who collected legends, but in this case the clear and present danger won out. Jirachi drifted off to side, evading the gout of flame, then came in hard and fast with an Iron Head attack aimed at Pryo's temple.

Jennifer Harsdorff leaned against the sturdy wooden door of the bar, panting. Another day, another unsuccessful search for a Pokemon Center. What the hell kind of place was this? True, it was her idea to leap into that damn portal in the first place, but this wasn't the Distortion World either.

Jennifer Harsdorff widened her eyes as she witnessed someone producing an explosive device of some sort. Given what happened to her the last time she tried to intervene in a fight here (who the hell brought weapons to bear in a bar fight, anyway?), she decided to remain outside and take stock of her dwindling supplies.

Jennifer Harsdorff sighed in despair. There was no way around it...she had to start rationing out her meager supplies until such time as she found a place she could restock. But that would only work until her wallet ran dry; however, her gurgling stomach told her that she needed to worry about her short-term survival first and foremost.

Jennifer Harsdorff steeled herself. The last time she went in here, it almost cost her the life of one of her trusted friends and companions. But it was a risk she had to take in order to get some food in her stomach, but more importantly, some answers.

Jennifer Harsdorff pushed the door open, but before entering, tried to take in everything here and assess the threat level of each. In one corner, there was some sort of dragon-like creature. Two guys were brawling with knives and other unsavory things in the center of the room, and off to the side...ah, there would be a defensible location. Moving along the walls in order to skirt the fracas, she took up a position where she could size up new arrivals while watching the rest of the room.

Jennifer Harsdorff glanced around. The fight in the middle of the room seemed to be winding down, so now seemed to be as good a time as any to approach the bar and see what they had.
