"I hope I find my family and friends again, and that we'll be safe..."

0 · 476 views · located in Niihama

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by ladygeekiness

Description

Name: Joe Mailrath

Image

Age:17

Height: 5.8 feet

Weight: 63 kg

Gender:Male

Description:Joe has red hair and green eyes. He has a tattoo of flames on his chest, and his hand has a scar from having to jump out of a window in the past. Long story.

History: Joe was born into a family in hiding. His parents were wanted by the government because they destroyed a war weapon that would have destroyed planets if they hadn't destroyed it. They did that with help from Molly Lighning's parents, and they were unfortunately found by the government, and Molly escaped to live with them. Joe and Molly were the best of friends, and were starting to bond more when the government caught wind of their hiding place, and they all had to split up. Ever since then he's kept running, and hopes to at least come in contact with his parents or Molly.

Personality: Joe is the kind of guy that likes to keep to himself, and is bubbly and bright when around others he's learnt to trust and care for. Joe can be found meditating when he's not practicing his telekinesis. He does those things because he loves to stay calm and would rather stay inside than go out and run about. But unfortunately, because of his knack for getting himself in trouble.

Weapons: Joe has hidden blades and his incredibly powerful telekinesis. He also has special leg braces that can support long falls and jumps.

So begins...

Molly sat back in shock, befuddled by this story. "Woah... That's..." She shook her head and sighed. "Some people are so evil and, and, ARGH!" Even though Molly knew it was happening in another dimension, Molly was as angry as could be, and she smashed a box with her staff. "Sorry Jacob, I just can't handle it when people are so evil and mean..." She stepped out of the alleyway and went back to their oil drum campfire. "Come here, I'll tell you my story in return." She started to toast a marshmallow from a packet she had found. They weren't over the due date, so they should be fine. Molly took a deep breath and began.

"I used to live with my parents in a town on Terra. It was nice there, and I had lots of friends and my parents loved me. It was a great life. One morning, I left home for school, and my parents gave me more hugs and attention than usual. It was weird, but I didn't notice at the time. Just as I was turning the corner, I heard a squeal behind me, and I saw a black van drive away from our house. I was terrified when I saw the Terra government symbol on the side. I sprinted back to the house, and the door was open." Molly teared up a little. "I went in, and no one was home, not even our cat. I quickly checked everywhere, and they were nowhere. I ran to my hiding spot that my parents had found long ago anyway, and dove in. I cried and cried, because I knew my parents were gone. People who went in those vans never came back."

Molly took a break and ate her marshmallow to hide her teary eyes and shaking hands. She swallowed and continued."I realised that there was something digging into my stomach. I moved and saw a pair of goggles and a note. The note said 'Molly, we want you to know that we love you, and we will come back for you someday. Don't go to school, run away to this address. Keep practicing your shifting and take your father's pilot goggles. Love, Mum and Dad.' I then knew what I had to do. I went to the address after packing my things and when I got there, the people immediately recognized me, and I recognized them. They were my parents friends Bob and Sally. As soon as I opened my mouth they covered it and brought me in."

"Turns out they were actually called Hax and Lilee, and they had a son my age called Joe. Apparently we all had powers and it wasn't just me, and that the government was against us all because when my parents and these guys were younger, they found out a government secret too. They were developing a super war machine that would destroy entire planets. My parents destroyed all plans of it and all the small versions and prototypes with Lilee and Hax. Ever since the they had been living incognito, and they had to hide their powers because the government had face captures of them and knew their powers. So they lived in hiding successfully for 17 years until then. Luckily the government didn't know about me, but they were bound to find out." Molly sighed as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Then Lilee and Hax taught me and Joe everything we needed to know for 3 whole years. Now i know how to shift properly, and how to fight with my staff. Then Lilee and Hax caught word that the government had an idea of where we were. So we all split up to do good on Terra and in The Multiverse. Joe went one way, I went another, and Lilee and Hax left together. I hope we find each other again..."

Molly sighed, and shifted her torso so it was covered in fur. "Here, have another blanket. As for your worries about them finding you, you should relax, I mean you said you're from another dimension right?" She handed the blanket to him.

Joe sprinted across the rooftops, fully aware of the danger that he might fall all the way from the 3rd sector to the cold hard concrete floor of Niihama city. Using his telekinesis he took random objects to run on when gaps were too big, and threw them at the police man chasing him. "I told you, I didn't steal that handbag!" He yelled back at the angry officer, who appeared to have bionic legs. The police man growled at him, and went faster."No sirree kiddo, that man over there told us how YOU stole that elderly citizen's personal belongings!" Joe sighed, and kept running. That git was obviously going to pay you back for that haggle you idiot, you should have just payed the full 30 dollars and left! He mentally face palmed, and jumped down onto a lower building balcony, that was being used by a mustachioed man.

He threw a dustbin lid at the officer, and retrieved it with his mind and handed it back to the shocked man with a chocolate on the side. "Here you are sir." He then leaped over the other balconies, and turned round the building's corner a yard or so in front of the officer, and hid in a laundry basket. He burrowed deep under the layers of shirts, and watched the officer sprint past him. When it was clear, Joe climbed out and dropped over the edge of the balcony, but not before leaving a chocolate on the window sill. He had discovered recently that his chocolates of gratitude were becoming a Niihama sensation. People had many theories on who left them, but none of them were 'a teenage boy traveling the Multiverse to keep himself safe'. He landed on a window cover, and swung down through the window.

Landing on a shaggy rug, he stood up and looked around. He looked into the shocked expressions of the couple he had just interrupted 'kissing'. "Aheh, guess I should have looked first huh." He grinned sheepishly as they started to scowl. "Um, ok then... I should go now shouldn't I..." With that, he ran through the couple's apartment as they shouted at him. He went into the apartment block hallway, and slid down the stairs handrail with his long fall boots he had built with his friend. My my Joe, your free running skills are getting good! But you haven't meditated for a while, you really should... With that thought, Joe launched himself off the stair railing, and out a window onto another rooftop.Finding a comfortable spot on the rooftop, Joe took a deep breath, and sank into a state of deep thought.

Joe pulled on the long fall boots, and tightened the laces. Molly grinned beside him, and examined them. "They appear to be ok, all the nuts and bolts are tight, and the metal is bending fine, so why don't you go test them out?" She grinned and pointed at the ceiling. Joe nodded and saluted her."Wish me luck!" He grinned and rushed up the stairs. Molly rushed off in the opposite direction and went out the back of the house. Joe climbed out onto their roof and looked over the edge to Molly below. "On 3 ok?" He shouted down to her. "1!" He rocked forward, and back slowly. "2!" Molly grinned, but got a first aid pack ready in case the boots didn't work. "3!!" He jumped off the roof, adrenaline pumping through his veins, and the g force giving him a surge of excitement. Then he landed softly onto the ground below, with nothing but shock and a surprised expression. He and Molly grinned at each other, and high-fived each other. "That was awesome!" Molly grinned at him, and then bent over to pick up the unneeded first aid kit, but Joe did too, and their hands met. Molly blushed, and Joe stuttered a bit. Their hands didn't retract though. "I uh... Ahe..." Joe looked up at Molly, and Molly looked up at him. She looked beautiful under the setting sun. They found them selves leaning closer when Lilee called them from indoors. "Joe! Molly! Come here now, it's urgent!" Molly and Joe pulled their hands away, and rushed indoors.

Lilee and Hax were rushing about the house, and Hax stopped to talk to them. "Guys, me and Lilee have caught warning from a friend that the government have an idea of where we are. We have to leave now, and split up." Joe and Molly stood in shock for a secon. "Split up? You mean like, go our separate ways?" Molly questioned Hax. Hax nodded, and continued to pack his bag. A tear rolled down Molly's face. Joe knew what was going through her head. Knowing that you had just found a family of sorts, and having to leave it. Joe rushed upstairs, and started to pack a bag. He took the necessities, such as clothes and some food to last a while. Then he packed things like a book or two, and a small tool kit.. He then took the hidden blades he and Hax had made together, and strapped them on. Finally, he lifted a pair of shoes and packed them into his bag, in case he ever wanted to take off his long fall boots, which he probably wouldn't. He could hear Molly packing across the hall too, then her running down the stairs. He grabbed something from his chest of drawers, and raced down the stairs. As soon as he got down, Lilee held him in a tight hug. "Your father and I will leave on the train to what ever's soonest to leave, and you and Molly have to split and go wherever you want, and stay safe." She looked at him with tears in her eyes, and picked up her bag. "Good luck my son..." Then she and Hax left out the door and ran off down the street.

Molly turned to Joe, with the saddest face he'd ever seen her make. "Joe..." She burst into tears and flung herself into his arms. Joe held her tight, and cried too. Molly looked up, and her mouth wobbled. Joe pulled out the object from his pocket. "Here, have this to remember me." Molly laughed. "Why would I ever forget you, or Lilee or Hax?" She took the object anyway. "It's a music cube I made for you. It's like a little chest for special things, but if you press this little knot here..." Joe pressed the knot, and the cube began to play a little song. Molly put a hand over her mouth when she heard the song. "It's... Oh Joe!" Joe nodded, and hugged her. The song playing was the song they wrote together. They called it 'Unnamed,' Because it was nothing but music, and they had no name for it. "Thank you Joe, it's beautiful." Molly smiled, and looked at the cube a little longer before putting it in her bag. Joe smiled sadly, and turned to the door. "Well. Goodbye Molly." Joe looked at the floor, and walked to the door. "Joe wait!" Joe turned around in time to see Molly run into his arms and kiss him. Joe's emotions exploded inside him, and his heart melted as a buzz ran through his body. They broke away, and Joe stood there, dazed. When he eventually snapped out of it, he saw Molly walking down the street. "Goodbye!" Joe then walked in the opposite direction, his long fall boots slightly bouncing him along.

When Joe awoke from the meditation, he had a tear on his cheek, and he wiped it away. His ginger hair was slightly tousled from he wind, but he paid no heed to it. It had been almost a year since then, and Molly would now be 17, and he had only turned 17 a few weeks ago. It really reminded him how time flied. He took a deep breath, and stood up. His boots squeaked a little, and some nearby pigeons flew away in fright. Then with that deep breath he smelt smoke. He turned his head and saw the plume of smoke. He looked down, and saw a young girl and a man just walking out of an alleyway. Joe was suspicious at first, but seeing the girl was okay, he relaxed. He was shocked a little when the girl started to smash boxes. There was a backpack next to the fire, and it had a slightly worn wooden cube attached to it. Could it be? No Joe it's probably just some sort of bag tag or charm... Then he lay down and watched the girl sit down with the man, and tell a story. The girl started to tell her life story apparently, and Joe slowly started to realize what he was hearing. It really snapped when the girl described the memory he had just remembered and when she shifted her torso. "Molly! Is that you?!" He leaped down from the building and landed in front of Molly and the stranger, grinning excitedly, ecstatic he might have just found his best friend, and maybe more than friend.

"Damn... I'm real sorry Molly, I..." *sigh*

Jacob didn't say much else - he never even met his biological parents. His earliest memories where with Cousin Hamish and Aunt Redd. Hamish got an engineering slot on New NASA's Explore Mk II project, and he can't remember seeing his Aunt since age 7. He never had an Uncle (to his knowledge) and according to Redd, his parents sank along with a cruise liner on the Mid-Atlantic - he was both glad they hadn't brought him with them, as he was offered a second chance at life; but was saddened in that he never got to say goodbye. But then, how could he? He was only 2 at that point, and it's not like he even knew the concept of death, much less the concept of toilet training. Still, he couldn't help but think...

"What were they there for?"

"I'm sorry?" Molly questioned.

"Oh, it's nothing, I--!" Before Jacob could say anything, a young man (assumedly in his teens) landed from the sky directly in front of him.

"GAH!!!" On instinct, Jacob yanked a weathered Colt M1911 from his holster and pointed it towards the kid, though he never pulled the trigger as the kid pulled the gun out of his hands... with nothing! ("Maybe with his mind? Could he be like Molly??") He then threw it at the wall beside him, victorious, though he did not use this opportunity to assault Jacob or Molly, in fact he looked pleased to see her!

"What's going on, who is this guy?"

Molly stood up, startled by the tussle that had just occurred between the two men. "Jacob stop! We don't know this guy, he might be-" She stopped, shocked by what she saw in front of her. "But...Joe? Is... Is that you?!" Joe nodded and smiled. Molly squealed and threw herself into his arms. They both laughed, and held each other tight. Joe ran his fingers through her hair, and grinned. Molly couldn't believe her luck. "I thought I'd lost you..." She let go a deep breath, and stepped away. "Jacob, this is Joe, he's my...Friend." She grinned, ecstatic with the arrival of Joe, her best friend, maybe her love.

Joe couldn't believe the chances of him finding Molly again, and was giddy with excitement. "Nice to meet you Jacob, like Molly said, I'm Joe." He smiled pleasantly and turned back to Molly. "I can't believe I found you! I had been looking and hoping but I never thought.." He broke out into nervous laughter, and Molly did too. He sighed, and pointed at her bag. "You kept the cube?" Molly nodded. "Why wouldn't I? I also remembered and kept lots of other things..." She blushed, and looked at his boots. "They still working well? They fit you still?' She gestured to Joe's long fall boots, and he grinned stupidly. "Yeah they work fine! They're getting squeaky, but I've got oil for that." He sat down by the fire, and stretched out his legs. "so, Jacob. What brings you here? What are you doing with Molly?" He unconsciously gave Jacob the look that said Don't mess with me, or hurt her, or you're dead. He of course didn't realize it. Joe still couldn't get over his discovery of Molly, and couldn't wait to do things with her again.

"Look, buddy, I don't mean to make any trouble - I just got here... your friend Molly here was just showing me some courtesy, nothing else happened... I--"

"Excuse me son, what's your name?" Asks a peculiar looking man who seemed to have been right behind Jacob the whole time. Joe had already taken the fear out of Jacob, so he just turned around and said "Who wants to know?"

"That's classified... for now. You have to come with me, I have a very enticing business offer for someone of your... qualifications--"
"Yeah, well save your offer, I'm thinking of freelancing anyway!" Jacob spat back, about to take Molly and Joe somewhere else, when the man grabbed him by the shoulder.

"I don't think you understand, YOU MUST COME WITH ME NOW." The man seemed to be on his last nerve, and Jacob didn't have to tweak many of them. He was unarmed, thanks to Joe, so he did the only thing he could think of...

"Alright, if that's the way it's gonna-- BE!!!" He slugged the bastard in the nose and ran off down the alleyway, gesturing for Molly and Joe to follow suit. They seemed to get the picture, and picked up the pace. "I thought I was done with running for the time being... *huff*" Joe said wryly as the agent fell further and further behind them.

"Who was that guy anyway? Another employer?" Molly asked. "Not one I have any knowledge of... he seemed to be dressed like some sorta private eye... maybe he was sent my my corporation???" Jacob wondered.

After a lot of running, the three of them stopped to rest, Jacob sitting on an Hydro Box, with Molly and Joe leaning on the wall opposite.

"That was a real rush, huh Jacob? Bet you don't--!" Joe asked Jacob before realizing he wasn't there anymore. He spotted a silhouette of a large man dragging a panicking man behind him down the alley.

"HELP!!! MOLLY, JOE, SOMEBODY!!!" Jacob shouted as he disappears around the corner.

"Yeah, I think so..." Jacob stood up tentatively, looking about just in case another goon was on his way.

Jacob noticed the lady's gun and shivered in a panic. "L-l-look, what are you--"

"The name's Rosemary, you can call me Rosie, and I think I just saved your skin! Pleasure to meet you."

"I would say the same, but you just killed a man in front of me! Are you insane, I mean I wanted help but--!"

The man stirred on the ground, through the bullet holes in his coat Jacob saw the shimmer of armor.

"You know what? Thanks a ton! Let's get out of here!!!" Jacob told Rosie, then grabbed her by the wrist to lead her and then ran off down the alleyway, but not before kicking the agent in the back of the head to buy them more time.

"WAIT A TICK!" Rosie yelled back at Jacob "There's something in his pocket... glowing!"

Jacob ran back, kneeled down and searched the fink's pocket, pulling out an industrial glass vial containing a glowing red serum; the bottle also had a syringe attached to it. Some type of drug... but what kind?

"Good eye, now let's get a move on!" Jacob said, but before leaving, remembering he left his gun back down the alley, swiped the agent's revolver; a Webley Mark VI.

"Alright, I think that's enough, let's go!!! The cops could get here at any moment!"

Right, Jacob thought, it's time to beat it. Jacob ran with this Rosie character back down the street, encountering Joe and Molly at the next block. ("Only two hours in another universe and I've already made three friends? Must be a lucky night...") After making some brief introductions, Jacob asked "Rosie, do you know a place the three of us could hide out for the time being?"

Rosemary nodded to them all still stirred up about everything. "My brother Dawn and I moved here from Terra back a few years ago just to see what it's like. We're still staying here for the times being and we have a flat up in sector three." She thought about her brother Dawn, he would be mad at her for skipping her job as they needed the money and weary of strangers from the lower sectors coming into there home. She hoped she could talk him into it.

"I think he'll let you guys stay in it, if you don't steal things or stuff like that. I take it none of you are local's huh?" She laughed a little tucking her gun away, before stopping, it hurt her a lot to laugh. Probably cracked a few ribs, she figured. "Are you guys wanted or something cause-" But Rosemary couldn't finish her sentence when she heard the shouts and bangs. A gang fight she knew, she'd heard of them before on the news, those who got caught in the crossfire almost always died.

"Aw shoot! Look guys I hate to make us all run again but it sounds like a gang, follow me." Rosemary said in a loud whisper climbing up a fire escape and waiting for the rest to follow.

Atop an adjacent overhang, a shadowy figure watched from afar. The figure said nothing while the group of 'foreigners' moved through the streets, one of them moving up a fire escape.

The figure stared through a pair of high-powered binoculars, before grabbing a their radio. "I've got five foreigners, I don't know how they got here, how should I proceed?" They said in their native language.

The radio chirped it's response, and the lone man nodded before he moved back into the shadows, not long before an unmarked black car pulled out from a side road, slowly creeping towards the group of people.

A spotlight from the car suddenly illuminated them, and a voice cracked from nowhere .

"Teishi! Ugoku na!"

Molly and Joe were overwhelmed by the sudden activity, when they had only just found each other. The newcomer Rosie beckoned for them to climb up the fire escape and they did so without question. Molly and Jacob went first, and Joe brought up the back. When suddenly a car brought up a bright spotlight on them, and someone shouted at them in a foreign language. Joe beckoned for them all to come back down, and put his hands up, assuming that's what they wanted them to do. The others followed suit. Molly walked over to Joe, and they held hands. Joe squeezed her hand, and Molly squeezed his. Molly took a deep breath and shouted out. "Hello! We don't mean any harm! We're merely travelers! Who are you and what do you want from us?!" She let go a breath, hoping she hadn't messed up anything. Joe put his arm around her in a supportive way, and she relaxed.

Jacob was struck by panic, glancing about for a possible escape route - he always finds a way out. No ladders, only one fire escape (the one they got up on, and that one had officers positioned at street level), and a heli prepared to turn him and his new friends into swiss cheese. Just as he was about to fall to his knees in defeat, he felt a gust of air pull behind him, hurling him backwards through a doorway. Rosemary turned and yelled, reaching her hand towards me, but the doorway shut and vanished before she could do a thing.

Darkness... for the longest time, and then he saw - he was sitting in a dumpster and could still hear the blaring police sirens. They must have tried to open a doorway to Niihama to bring him back, but failed, sending him a short distance from the doorway. He climbed out of the rancid container and noticed police on the street opposite. He ran down the alley and smashed the window of the nearest apartment building. As he climbed inside, he collapsed, exhausted, onto the sofa. He abandoned them; Molly, Jacob, Rosemary. For all he knew - they were already being interrogated by the authorities as he sat here. He then cried for a while, before finally falling into a deep sleep, realizing he was finally... truly...

Alone.

(3 months man. 3 months.)

Molly and Joe didn't get a reply, and they heard guns being loaded. Molly wanted to repeat her question of what they wanted, but knew these people weren't the type to answer questions, more the violent type. Joe thought differently. He leaned in to Molly and whispered. "Hey, you got one of our translators on you?" Molly looked at him, her face in an expression of both surprise and cynicism. "What happened to yours?" Joe shrugged and looked back at what seemed to be interstellar police. Molly got her backpack slowly, showing it was no threat, and brought out a chunky translator. "You haven't even upgraded it or anything?" Molly shook her head, and turned the device on. Joe took it and typed in what the police had said. "Um, it translates as Right, Ugoku now." Joe said. Molly spoke into the device and pressed the translate button. She held the device out, and pointed to Joe and herself respectively as it spoke. "Aš Molly ir tai yra Joe. Mes nereiškia jokios žalos. Ką tu nori?" Suddenly, they felt a strong gust of wind behind them, and they turned around. They saw Jacob being sucked into a strange sort of gate thing, and their eyes widened. "NO!" Molly cried out with Rosemary, and reached out her hand. Joe used his longfall boots to propel himself over their heads. He almost grabbed onto Jacob before he disappeared. Joe turned around, confused and angry, and was about to shout at the police before Molly stopped him. "It wasn't them, Jacob told me about how he had enemies coming after him that could use dimensional gates." Joe was even more confused. Molly sighed, turning towards the police. "What I'm saying is, don't try and look for him. He's back on his home planet now."

Jacob awoke with a start, as terrors woke him from his sleep "No, this isn't me." Jacob assured himself, standing up from the sofa. "I wouldn't just give up and abandon people in a deathly situation... I've gotta save them!" Jacob climbed back out of the building and searching for anything familiar. He noticed a fire escape with an officer aiming his rifle up it. Seeing as his friends didn't have much time, he skipped the stealth, opting to yank out the Webley he swiped from the fink earlier, popping off two rounds into the officer's skull, leaving him in a slump on the pavement. As fast as he could, he climbed up the steps, finally reaching the roof, where the trio was attempting to reason with the chopper pilot. Feeling a fleeting sense of unease, he acted at the spur of the moment, firing the revolver at the aircraft's windshield, causing the pilot to swerve to the left. "Come on, while we still have the chance! I took care of the goon downstairs!" Rosemary ran along without hesitation, while Joe and Molly shared an incredulous and infuriated look before following suit. "Rose, didn't you say you had a place we could crash at? Now would be the time to take the lead!" Jacob demanded as the three ran down the alleys.

The four finally outran the authorities thanks to Joe's street-smarts and quick-thinking. They finally stopped at some project apartments.

"Rosie, is this the place?" Jacob inquired, panting after all the running.

"No, I don't even recognize this part of the city..." She said, disappointed.

"Well, we're not going to keep outrunning the fuzz at our pace and numbers - we need a place to crash for the night. Besides, they might've scanned our faces, it wouldn't be a smart idea to hide in one of our own properties." Joe expleted.

"Hey, you know - I did smash into some flat back when you three were about to get made, but that's far back now... the way I see it, we either ask one of this sector's lovely citizens to let us into their home, or follow my example." Jacob finalized, not knowing any other way.

Molly was sitting on an overturned oil drum, staring dumbstruck into nothing. Jacob was worried and stepped over to her.

"Um... are you okay? You seem pretty... disturbed, is all I can think of."

"I have been here for two days, and I'm already a fugitive, along with my best friend, an odd ginger lady, and a techie who's being followed by some beatnik in a trenchcoat. I just wanted to come here to make a good life for myself, now I'm stuck in all... THIS!" She exclaimed in utter frustration, knocking the barrel into a wall with her staff, causing Rose and Joe to jump in surprise.

Jacob placed a tentative hand on her shoulder. "Hey, we're not exactly in the clear yet, but we've still got a chance - we're not dead or captured yet, so that's two strikes in our favor. And remember, none of us broke any laws as far as I'm aware of... well, Rose did shoot someone and Joe was participating in disorderly conduct and we all resisted arrest and I don't have a passport or visa-- I think I'll just shut up now, but you get what I'm trying to say, right?"

Molly looked up at Jacob and smiled. "Yeah... I know."

"Hey guys, this apartment has been foreclosed for a while... should make a good hideout!" Joe yelled over.

"Good eye, Joe!" Jacob said as he walked towards him, Molly eventually following suit.

...

It was a bit of a walk, but they finally made it to the third floor. Jacob turned the door knob to room 7, finding the knob wouldn't budge. He lifted up his leg and rammed it hard into the splintery wood, causing the door to sink slightly inward. A few more well-placed kicks and the door came tumbling down, revealing the interior of the room: a drab yet ornate carpet skewed across the center area, underneath a coffee table with a steel pipe smashed through its glass top; a plasma television with a hole in the corner, leaking its contents onto the already scuffed floor; a kitchenette with a overturned refrigerator, the floor littered with rotting food; and finally a short hallway that forked into two rooms, most likely a bedroom and bathroom.

"Well... it's better than nothing." Jacob said contently.

"Looks like a real dump to me!" Rose piped up earnestly.

Jacob stepped into the living space and sat carefully on the couch, not knowing whether its architectural integrity was equal or not to its neighboring fixtures. Thankfully, it seemed to be quite sturdy, causing Jacob to usher over the gang to sit with him - he had some things to set straight.

"Okay, when I was dragged off by that... man, I met Rosie here - she shot him, but unfortunately he's still alive. Before you ask, I did give him the slip, and managed to snatch these off of him before he came to;"

Jacob pulled out of his knapsack and lay on the wooden bevel of the coffee table the revolver as well as the strange syringe of glowing red liquid.

(OOC: Please try not to control my characters. :3 Sorry for not posting sooner, been busy)
Molly and Joe were just beginning to get through to the authorities when Jacob came back, with a gun in his hand. Molly. Joe and Rosie had to run. As Molly clambered down, she nearly stepped in a growing pool of blood and brain fluids. She nearly threw up. Although she'd been on the run for a year or so now, it was the first time she'd seen a dead body. She would have frozen in that spot if Joe hadn't jumped down next to her and grabbed her hand to keep her running. Molly felt anger and sorrow clench her heart in an iron cold fist. She snapped, and although Jacob said none of them had broken the law, she still felt crap, and wanted to shout even more so he would just understand that that wasn't true. But instead of explaining her whole reason of being on the run, she lied. Joe found a rundown apartment building, and they climbed up to the third floor. They all got into Room 7, glad to catch their breaths. Joe picked up the splintering door off the floor and set it back in its doorway. When he turned around, he didn't see Molly. He frowned, until he looked at the fridge lying on it's side, and the figure curled up on top of it. Joe gingerly sat down next to her, and put a gentle arm around her shaking shoulders.

Molly had a million thoughts racing through her head as she sat quivering on the fridge. Seeing that officer lying there... Is that what happened to her parents? Is that what would happen to her if they found her? She felt Joe put an arm around her, and relaxed a tiny bit. She leant into him, her hood pulled up, casting her face in shadows. She wasn't listening to Jacob, she wasn't listening to anything except Joe's heartbeat, trying not to think about her parents or the man whose family would be receiving news about him pretty soon. Joe looked worriedly down at Molly, and wanted to do something. He looked up at Jacob. "What do we do if they find us?"

"They won't." Joe said assuredly, but in reality, he was just as concerned as Joe; he had just been punted into this strange world where he didn't know the law, and already there was a murder and an assault on his account. It was pretty clear that regardless of the circumstances the group would slip up eventually... The best he could do was ensure that they did it as late in the game as they could last.

Jacob stood up and brushed some gravel and cobwebs off himself. "The sirens have stopped at least and I haven't seen any cruisers drive past, so we should start by fortifying this place. And in the meantime, I really want to figure out something that's been puzzling me since I got here - who the hell WAS that guy in the big coat, and what is this thing he was holding?" Jacob said, pointing out the almost comically oversized needle, the crimson nectar still glowing and swirling in the corrugated glass vial.

Molly didn't even look up as she spoke. "It's eversor." Joe looked towards her in surprise. "What? How did you know that?" Molly glared at the crimson vial, her face giving off a heavy air of disgust and hate. "My parents risked their lives trying to destroy the machine that stuff powers, and every last drop of it. And so did yours Joe..." Joe screwed his eyes up tight, holding back emotions about his parents. He sighed. "How do you even know this Molly?" She shrugged. "I overheard bits of my parents' conversations, but didn't understand them til recently..." She wiped a tear from her eye. "Now I can't even tell them that I understand. I don't even..." She moaned and curled up into a tighter ball. Joe rubbed her on the back and walked over to Jacob. "So do we destroy it or keep it?"

Jacob gripped the syringe tentatively, turning it over constantly to examine every inch of it.

"Hm... Nothing on this vial says Eversor, or whatever you were talking about. I don't think it would either, to be honest - that guy who was carrying it looked completely out of place for this place, maybe even this century. They might call it Eversor here, or Eversor might be something completely different - but one thing's for sure, wherever that agent is from - they call this a 'plasmid'."

He gripped the end of the syringe and removed the safety plug, revealing the long, silvery proboscis, a small drop of the 'plasmid' dripping out the tip.

"I think... I should give it a try."

Joe looked back at Molly, who wouldn't say anything. His eyebrows practically shrunk together, and turned back to Jacob. "I'm not sure it's a good idea... Wait a second." Joe opened the fridge, and saw nothing there, and turned to Molly, who obliged and budged off the fridge door. He looked, and found an old chunk of meat. It was frozen stiff, and was starting to smell, but it would do. Joe put it on the counter and nodded to it. "Wait for it to thaw, then see if it does anything if it's injected with that."

"You think that would work? I mean, a hunk of meat isn't exactly a living thing... Oh well, I don't have any less risky plans, but find a straw or something to use as an infuser, if I wanna stick myself, I don't want to get E. Coli." Jacob asked Molly as he picked up the syringe and rolled it in his palms.

(BTW - I erased Rosemary due to her continued absence, and I don't want to play her character for her)

Molly rubbed her arms and stood up, walking through the other rooms in the apartment, eventually finding a crappy straw in a moldy cup from who knew how long ago. She washed it with a water bottle in her backpack, and handed it to Jacob with a weak smile, trying to look on the bright side of the situation. She felt Joe's hand on her shoulder and calmed down a bit. "So. I suppose we'd best do this?"

"Yeah... get it over with." Jacob stated stonefaced, lifting his sleeve and turning his inside arm toward Molly, who Jacob motioned to pick up the syringe and do it. Jacob began to sweat a little - what the hell was he thinking?! Oh sure, let's stick myself with this strange fluid I found in some old creep's pockets! On the one hand, it could be little more than morphine - something he might've used to knock him unconcious, considering he's currently surrounded by trusted folks, what's the harm if it was so? On the other hand, it might be some sort of fast-acting toxin, he might've wanted to get rid of him the moment he was in his clutches! "Oh shit, what now?!" he thought, watching Molly hold the syringe tentatively. "No, I can trust Molly... she was the one who saved me in the first place...". "Okay Molly. Stick me - now."

Some of the denizens on the surface of Niihama would begin to notice a small celestial anomaly in the sky at night. A new comet, with a small green tail, would appear in the night sky, and would travel around the planet for several days as it entered the planet's gravitational pull and crashed towards the surface. The object appeared to be a common black glassy rock, or some kind of space debri. It had arrived from a region of space controlled by the Matokey Order, but did not show any sign of intelligence. The object was very small, about the size of a Volkswagen, not nearly large enough to cause any significant amount of damage to the planet's surface.

The comet passed over the sky slowly for several days, heating up and increasing speed as it neared Niihama's surface. After the third day of rotating around the planet, the object glowed white and had a long luminescent green and blue tail caused by the immense speed and heat. But the object never dissipated, or broke apart and disintegrated, instead maintaining it's solid form as the oddly shaped lumpy rock crashed into a remote region on the planet, landing somewhere in an open field. The object smashed into the planet's surface, creating a small crater upon impact.

The crater was about 200 yards in diameter and about 50 yards deep into the planet's crust. The small black object was resting in the very center of the small crater, glowing from the intense amount of radiation as smoke and steam rose up from around it. The object gave off no radio signals, no life signatures and no signs of intelligence. It wasn't man-made, and appeared to have just landed there randomly. As the rock cooled, the glow faded away and the smoke slowly disappeared. But the ground around it remained highly radioactive.

The Global Self-Defense Army and Niihama's Skywatch had been tracking the object ever since it entered Niihama's solar system. Every trajectory had been carefully plotted into hundreds of supercomputers, and the course analyzed, it was projected to crash far outside any major urban zones, what few existed on the planet. Was this deliberate? Skywatch was concerned, so the decision was made to redeploy the fleet, and move ground forces towards the mountainous region south of the Yukikaze megacity, one of the few untouched regions left on the planet.

Whatever it was, no chances could be taken, so the Army deployed, and set up fortifications all around the small crater, powerful resonance barriers kept the radiation contained within the local area, and a combination of machinegun emplacements, sandbags, and hastily poured concrete redoubts marked the first line of defense, as hundreds of Taiyou soldiers took position surrounding the crater.

Each one was in a fully hermetically sealed combat suit, which offered a second layer of protection from the radiation, their weapons consisted of the Seburo C26A Assault rifle, a 5.45x45mm box fed high velocity assault rifle that fired high-powered armor piercing rounds.

The Area had also been closed off to the public, but the surrounding area began to fill with news crews, reporting the affair all across the Empire.

Two wasp-like Jigabachi AV attack helicopters were circling the crater as well, their rotors thundering through the still, thick air, thirty-millimetre rotary cannons mounted on their tails crooked forward, like a wasp about to sting it's prey.

Four Armor Shrikes, and two HAW206 multiped tanks rounded out the ground response, their main weapons trained on the small object below, was it a simple meteor?

The Director of Public Security, and the General of the Imperial Ground Self Defense Forces were both standing on the back of a large troop transport, under the camouflage canvas cover that was flapping in the wind, With most of the government pre-occupied with other things, both had been placed in charge of the response here.

"Director Miyagi is on his way from Niihama City." Aramaki said, turning to the General. Whom turned back to Aramaki. "I was redeployed from the gate to this location, fortunately the situation with the Vikings has yielded little in the way of events." Hama said, taking a pair of binoculars to gaze into the crater.

"We'll wait for Director Miyagi before we approach the object." Hama added.
