History

Jonas was born into a well off family, the son of a miner. He was an inventor at a young age always tinkering and making things, combining chemicals and stones to find out what exploded. His enthusiasm for science never faultered as he grew up, being an expert machinist, though he was skilled to some degree in all levels of science. One day while escavating with several others he discovered a man in a cave, badly burned and barely alive. The man was taken to hospital. Shortly after he broke free and went on a rampage of chaos. Jonas took it upon himself to stop the man, blaming himself for being the one to bring him to the surface.

Thus began a lengthy series of battles of machine and intellect, contraptions smashed and property damaged. One day Gentry was launched off into space, to escape to another world, but Jonas persued relentlessly.

So begins...

Down on Main Street was a new addition to the town in terms of stores, with the humble sign out the front offering the services provided by the man within.
'Mackenzie Mechanical Repairs
We fix everything from watches to industry machinary'

The store front was simple, showing off several devices that looked somewhat outlandish and improvised as well as some more standard things you would expect from such a shop, like watches, clocks and other small mechanical devices. The man in the store was dressed well, in a waist coat, but no tie, as he repaired a clock in his hand with a screw driver, tikering around with the device.

At the jingle of the bell ringing from Aceline's entrance Jonas calmly set down his work on the counter and offered a friendly smile. "Good day," he said, "How can I help you? We have a wide range of mechnical devices for sale as well as repairs or construction of new ones, should you need." Notably he appeared to have recently taken apart a jack hammer, the piston of the device also on the counter and its shell resting on a wall just to his left.

Jonas nodded, taking everything off the counter and placing it on a work bench behind him. "Well, what are you interested in? While I would like to say my business extends to all fields of industry mechanical work is best suited for mining and construction. If you were interested in that field I could get you a good machine or two within a reasonable price range." He indicated to the back, which seemed to lead through to a garage, or perhaps a workshop.

"Oh, antiques?" he said with a smile, dusting himself down. "Well, I don't personally have any old clocks, ah, other than..." He stepped out from behind the counter and to a glass case at one end of the store, opening it with a key from his pocket. "This is an old pocket watch, perhaps eighty years. It didn't work to begin with, but, well, I fixed it."

"If you had any older clocks and you needed them looking spiff and repaired, I could always take a look." He was quite the handy man, it seemed.

"Ah, it would, would it?" Jonas asked, then nodded. "Would it be valuable? Not that I wish to extort you, should you be interested. Merely a matter of curiosity. I'm sure I can find more profits in the mining industry." He gave off a small laugh. "Well, I'd be very interested in repairing them. Would I be coming to you or would you bring them in?"

Jonas raised a hand to rub his chin. "Well, it would be best to bring them here, if possible. Though, moving them less would probably be better I find I work better when I have all my tools immediately available, in case there is something unexpected." He chuckled. "Once I discovered a family of mice living in a grand father clock! Understandably I didn't have the right tools for the job there..."

"Mhm, I'm not surprised, though I have always had a fondness for pocket watches." He didn't like wearing watches nor jewelry on his wrist. Too much risk of it getting caught on something while he worked. "Well, I'm sure you have my number and my location, so if you need to bring the clocks in you need only call ahead."

Jonas answered with a cheery, "Good day. This is Mackenzie mechanical repairs, what is it that I can help you with today?" It seemed even over the phone he held a distinctly old fashioned way of speaking.

"Oh?" came the voice from the other side, genuine surprise too, "Well, would you like me to come to you or would you rather bring to me? I understand that such old things are delicate and that you may not wish to move them. I could come round during lunch," he offered.

"I'll be over at lunch time," he said, maintaining only a brief conversation further to attain the address before he would head on over to the store at the appropriate time. He had a tool kit, a well polished and clean tool kit, and was once again in a waist coat, this time pinstriped.

He waved in a friendly manner before inviting himself inside the store. "Where's the patient?" he asked with a wry grin.

Jonas calmly set down his toolkit next to the clock and gently started examining the device. "Shouldn't take too long," he said calmly. "Is this your shop?" He took out two or three small tools and slipped them into his belt as he began working.

Jonas was done quickly, happy to get the clock back ticking. His tools were returned to his box and he headed for the door, stopping at it and turning around to face Aceline. "It wasn't a difficult job, just a piece loose, so I won't charge you for it," he said, as outside behind him a car went what could only be described as 'flying' through the air, though it was more in the fashion of being thrown than achieving its own flight.

Jonas remained oblivious to it.

Jonas blinked, as if he felt he had heard incorrectly. "Pardon?" he asked, which was half cut off by the crashing noise of metal on street. "Good lord!" he cried out, sweeping around in a circle to press his face to the nearest window and look. "Oh dear!" He hurried towards Aceline, or more specifically the counter, hastily saying, "Quickly, duck, hide!"

"Rather so, or at least, I recognise the individual behind it. Do you have a back door to this building? I insist I escort you to safety," he said with a nod, as only a gentleman would. He was amazed this woman seemed so casual in the face of, well, car throwings, but then, he thought this entire town was strange.

"Insurance?" Jonas piped up, heading for the back door and opening it quietly while remaining low to the ground. "Aren't you worried you'll lose all this lovely relics of history? Ah- we should head to my workshop. I should have something that can help there..."

Jonas straightened up once he outside. "These objects are pieces of history. Each has value in memory. But perhaps we are getting off the metaphorical train track of where we should be going. There is a man, the one out there, who has been dubbed 'The Gentry' where I came from, due to the way he dresses. The individual is highly dangerous and mentally unstable. I followed him here to see if I could stop him causing trouble."

"In case you come across him. And while you are safe I shall go attempt to subdue the man, as I have done many times before with varying degrees of success." Jonas shop was coming up nearby, and so was the workshop at the back of it, which he went to and opened. In the back was, well, a different shop entirely. There were many thing, things with four legs, things on tank treads, things with drill and hammers and exhaust pipes. It appeared the man didn't joke around with his work.

Jonas gave a firm boot to the side of one of the machines, the spider one to be specific, and down slid a ladder. "Forgive me for being so bold but would you feel safer here or on the vehicle with me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Jonas shrugged. "If you insist, but you'll miss out on all the fun!" he called almost boitorously as he climbed over the top. There was the sound of a few levers being pulled, then the machine starting up very loudly. It chuffed and choomed and creaked and groaned, but it seemed to hold and it seemed to work.

Jonas poked his head over the side with an indignant demand of, "What do you have against the Victorian Era?" He went back to working, the first leg of the machine stepping out, followed by another to help keep balance. Yes, it appeared the machine was fully functioning. And it made it all of eight steps out the door before a very perculiar figure stepped around the corner, one you would notice a mile off just from what they wore.
