"All-terrain? Oh, funny. A wheelchair just looks funny in my head. You're thinking oldtime. You're not on Terra." she spoke as she sneaked down what barely looked like an alleyway. It was so narrow that Josai's shoulders nearly brushed the walls of trash on either side.

"ATW. Adaptable Terrain Walkers. If you couldn't even guess that much...I'm afraid of what your reaction is going to be."

She glanced up at the sky, which had become very narrow for the fifty foot walls closed in on them. There were three white moons above, the first just peaking the horizon.

As they came to the end of the alley, Austin would find a domed ceiling reaching over them, cold, and smooth, and metallic from underneath. Above, it just carried the appearance of another floor of garbage.

Josai put her fingers between her lips, and blew hard, a single, pure note ringing out across the dome. She leaned her hand onto a pile of scrap metal and grime that lay next to her. "You're going to meet someone special to me. Austin, this is Tyst."

It was very sudden, the disabling of the ATW's chameleon shield. One moment, there was only a small pile of waste that Josai had decided to lean against, and the next...

It was a...machine. What seemed to be a very large motorcycle, sleek, black, with the head of a giant cat no doubt as large as a Sabertooth, with the paws gripping the wheels on either side, keeping them in place.

But it didn't stop there! The eyes of the machine lit up, shining a dim blue, and the thing transformed. The wheels disappeared into the main body, the paws landed softly on the ground, and the head lifted up, turned, and stared at Austin hauntingly.

"This is an ATW." said Josai, smiling. She snapped, and the canopy on top opened, revealing the cockpit. Large enough for two people.

"A biomachine."

"Hm. I see the denizens of Trashtown are all on impeccable diets..." Austin grumbled as he barely squeezed 178 lbs of muscle through the narrow alleyway. He approached the ATW curiously.

"Pretty damn cool..." he whistled, "...I like the design and the size. Really intimidating when yo-WHATTHEFUCK!" The agent jumped back as the machine literally transformed before his very eyes. Austin looked over the machine-turned-beast incredulously, staring at the creature like a young boy stares at an animal in the zoo.

"You mean to tell me that this... thing..." he thumbed towards the ATW, "...is ALIVE? Biomachine, right? Shit..."

"Uploaded with only the most intelligent in WraithTech! SpiritCorp was a bit too kind for my like. Ah- you'll learn about those eventually. But I hope you didn't piss yourself. You'll have to clean that up before I'll allow you to ride inside my baby, here." She pat the animals neck, and the cyborg let out a low groan. It laid down on the ground, tucking its paws to its chest.

Just...like...a cat would.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance. You smell incredibly alien."

The machine spoke, eyes brightening with every syllable. Josai beamed, as it was a perfectly normal thing. "A biomachine. I mean, there isn't anything with wheels that can climb a one-eighty degree precipice, and, of course, wheels are faster than legs. So the thought was...why not combine the usefulness? Tah-dah! ATW's. Ready for a ride, Austin?"

"You're kidding."

"Oh, shush!"

"Uh. It's nice to meet you too. Giant. Robot. Cat-motorcycle." Austin took two uncertain steps forward before turning to Josai. "...do I shake its paw or scratch behind its ear?"

Marshall quickly walked around to Josai, unsure how he should proceed. "I'll admit, I AM curious as to how you ride one of these things. Is it anything like Terran vehicles at all?"

"You ask me like I know anything about Terran vehicles!" she sighed, shaking her head. "Here, why don't you come here and let me show you?"

She placed her foot on a small, inbuilt groove in the cyborg's side, raising herself into the cockpit until she sat comfortably in the back seat. She took hold of the cushiony backrest for the driver in front of her and collapsed it into a small groove. She patted the seat right in front.

"Come. Come here! Sit." she told him gleefully. As if to coax him, she pulled at the neck of her sweater, the zipper easing down. "It's going to be warm with the canopy closed, but don't worry. We won't be in here long."

"Well we wouldn't want to get hot too quickly..." Austin smiled, following Josai into the cockpit and assuming the seat next to her. "Huh. This is kinda comfy." He looked about himself, marveling at the feat of pure mechanical engineering that this machine was. There were cybertronians on Terra, but those were hardly the same thing as these ATW's. Only one practical question remained, of course.

"So how does it... go?"

Once inside, Austin would gaze upon a a holographic screen that lifted from the dashboard, displaying a myriad of charts and numbers, percentages, and a small model of the ATW slowly revolving in the bottom left corner. The words upon the screen would be completely unknown to the man.

Josai reached her arms around him, reaching so her hands would clasp around his own. She rested her chin on his shoulder, and leaned into him.

"Alright, so this is how it goes." There were two deep cavities on either side of the dashboard, the space between them the same as the width of a steering wheel. Assuming she had gotten a hold of his hands, she would guide them into the cavities.

"You're going to feel two handholds in there. Grab them." she advised him, speaking with her lips adjacent to his ear.

"Mmhm. I'll want to hear those words again later tonight..." he struggled to focus himself, Josai's breath hot on his ear. Slowly he reached out, his fingers wrapping around the intended handles and gripping them firmly.

"Alright. Handles grabbed." Austin affirmed with a nod. "I take it there's no foot-pedal here to make the machine accelerate? Or should I throw a ball of yarn in front of its face and hope for the best?"

"Jose, you're not letting him drive. Are you deaf to his words?"

"Tyst, we need to be nice to our guest..." purred Josai. "Now, Austin, you're going to feel a little sting."

Before she was even finished with her sentence, a rather painful feeling of pins and needles would run from the agent's fingertips, up his arms, burn to his shoulders, neck, and then to his brain. It lasted a split second, but it was intense.

"Now, if you're still conscious...notice that you're looking through Tyst's eyes."

Where it had been dark before, Austin would see everything in perfect detail, as though it was completely flooded with light. "I own a Masked ATW, which is pretty hard to get. Any others have headlights. You're lucky to have nightvision."

She leaned onto his back, not a tad shy, and gently grabbed his wrists. "Move forward and stop by the power of thought. Turn by leaning from side to side. Tyst will understand your commands perfectly."

As Austin's consciousness was shocked into the machine, he panicked for a brief moment. Everything had happened so suddenly, he wasn't quite sure what to think or do. In that moment, the agent completely lost control of his citofacin disorder. Tryst would likely be ordered to jump forward several feet, just a few inches away from a wall of garbage. Luckily, Austin managed to reign himself in before any serious damage could be done.

"Sorry..." he gasped, shaking his head as he struggled to keep his thoughts in check, "...I just need to focus." The fine pair of breasts pressing into his back wasn't exactly helping him with that, but Austin wasn't about to tell her to move. Gently, Austin attempted to order Tryst to wheel around so that they were no longer about to collide with a building before ordering the machine to begin down the road at an easy pace.

The machine was frazzled at the sudden jump, ears perking upward in surprise. Tyst growled,
Code: Select all
"Easy!"

Josai's grip had tightened on Austin, eyes wide. "Hey, just relax. I know it must have been a bit of a surprise, but you won't experience any pain past that. Now, just lean forward a little, think about walking...before you start at a run. Alright? I'm going to have you transport us to my place. It's about three miles from here."

"Sounds simple enough," Austin drew a breath, centering his focus and relaxing his muscles. Calibrating his consciousness to the feel of the machine's, Marshall willed the massive vehicle/animal to move forward slowly, leaning his torso towards the controls as he did so.

"This place better have fuckin' huge roadways..." he chuckled. Beneath the easy-going humor, however, there was a vague suspicion. Was Josai really so careless that she'd put her life and the life of her ATW in his hands after knowing him for all of an hour? Surely she hadn't allowed him to pilot what was likely her most prized possession on a whim. Josai wanted him to learn how to drive one of these things. It was almost as if she were already training him. As if she were already integrating him into the rebellion.

The thought both alarmed and enticed the agent. While he certainly didn't want to involve himself too deeply in yet ANOTHER intergalactic affair, he questioned whether or not going full-blown rebel was actually the quickest way off the planet. He'd have to weigh his options carefully.

At the moment though, there were promises of going to a very pretty girl's apartment for the rest of the night. Best focus on getting there in one piece.

Josai's thoughts were not far off from Austin's suspicions. Born and raised a Trashtown citizen, the woman was welcoming, at times careless, free in spirit, and wild. There was a reason Mabon wasn't surprised at her actions, especially when it came to an alien from Terra, from which they had heard so many stories. She was so terribly curious, and despite if it killed her or not, she was going to figure out what this man was made of.

"Some of the roads are...sort of big. Unfortunately I chose a place away from the busiest, so...you'll just have to deal with the narrower paths. Sorry. At the same time, this'll teach you how to maneuver a bit more! Isn't that exciting?"

She could almost hear Tyst heaving a sigh and roll her eyes.

"Halfway in you'll be able to use her form as a...ah...motorcycle. It goes a lot faster, but it can't climb at all. Obviously. Come on, just straight ahead!"

"Alright. Straight ahead." Austin nodded, urging the beast forward. Quickly dispelling any doubts he had, the agent willed himself to concentrate. Trial by fire. If there was anywhere Austin performed at his best, it was under pressure.

The next dozen steps proceeded calmly and Austin was able to navigate them out of the narrow alleyway that the beast had been parked in. A sense of pride swelled inside the agent as they stepped out into the narrow pathways of Trashtown.... before he realized that they were headed directly for a nearby building.

"Uh. Josai. Turn. How do I turn. How do I turn." His voice picked up a sense of urgency. He supposed if leaned left or right...

"Lean and think!" cried Josai. "Either way is fine! The road circles around!" Her tone was jokingly panicked. She knew, if Austin made a mistake, Tyst would be quick to correct it in whatever way she could. The woman had complete confidence.

The roads of Trashtown were as Austin had seen before. Filled with piles of garbage and scrap parts, but there was a chemistry to it. The roads weren't just made of dirt, but pressed metal. From the sky it would simply look like a mess, but up close, one could make out the paths, even the windows in some of the mounds, which marked houses.

Austin nodded, quickly willing the vehicle to turn left and leaning his body towards that direction. Hopefully the monster would follow suit, saving Austin the embarrassment of his first public auto-wreck since he was sixteen.

"Alright. That was close." It only dawned on him afterwards that he could have braked and THEN chosen. Ah well. Under pressure. "Now..." he peered around the buildings of garbage stretching beside them. "Which way to your place?"

"You want to go down the path right ahead, and at the parking lot filled with several other ATW's you'll take a right." Josai explained, pulling away from him to sit back on her seat. She stifled a yawn.

"And when you feel a little comfortable with running, then flip the switch on the dashboard. Try not to panic again, will you? You might wreck us! Then I'll take weeks trying to fix this ol' girl up again. Oh, and you'll be helping me. Money isn't as valuable here as labor."

"My planet knows a thing or two about labor," Austin nodded as they prodded forward, the beast's mechanical paws thumping into the makeshift street below. After all the shit Terra had been through, its denizens had gotten used to hardship. Reconstruction was a part of their daily lives at this point.

"But I want to know more about Misrana," he began, "tell me about the planet's past. Do you worship any gods? A common religion of sorts?"

"Some people worship gods. Most of us worship spirits, and some of the more deranged believe that the Triumvirate hold some kind of ultimate power." replied Josai. They passed hundreds of people walking on the street, each weirder than the last. Several people had intricate horns curled atop their heads, some carved into, others had long, bony tails. Another was at least nine feet tall, heavy in bulk, with those much smaller, at about three feet, crowded around them. Someone let go what seemed to be a dragonfly into the air, which then emptied its contents of ooze onto someone across the street as a prank.

"About two hundred years ago, a bunch of Terrans came to this place- I think that was the introduction of humans to Misrana- and brought their religion here, but it wasn't taken to very popularly. There's a colony in Miserta Kara that worships the Almighty or whatever they call him. After you've got the ability to create and modify life to this extreme it makes it a little hard to keep believing, though."

"Is that your planet's chief science, then?" Austin asked, looking from side to side at the many pedestrians. This was unarguably the most 'alien' planet he'd ever been on... there had to be a dozen different races in this block alone. Not a human in sight. "...y'know. Biological engineering. Making things like..." He nodded down to the vehicle, steadying himself as he jostled in the cockpit. "...this?"

"And Terrans came here?" he perked a brow, "THAT is interesting. I don't suppose they hold any viable governing authority around here?"
