Good grief. What on Earth was this place? It certainly wasn't in Russia.

Katarina Blackheart, Dark Mage Extrordinaire, made her way into Gambit's Bar with no small degree of reticence. Once again, the teleportation spell had failed utterly to take her where she wanted to go. She really needed to stop taking advice from Kastner on these things... replacing dragon horn with beetroot? What had the fool been thinking?

Blackheart carried herself with a degree of superiority that came with having your own customised surname, that you hadn't even had to pay for. Her staff, she held to her side, one hand clutching it tightly in case she needed to use it to bludgeon someone, or something equally embarrassing. The dark mage approached the counter, and peered down at what appeared to be some sort of odd cross between a goat and a child. She twirled her staff around, and poked Tatsuma with the rounded end.

"Hey, kid-" no pun intended, "-where the hell am I? This sure as hell isn't Russia."

Oh christ. This kid was going to get annoying. Katarina hated stutters. "A Russia? Russia's a... no, never mind. This isn't it, that's all you need to know." she muttered, glancing around. "Gambit's - yeah, I gathered that from the sign. I don't need to know what dimension this is, can't you give me a city? A continent? Someone more geographically useful?"

Blackheart frowned beneath her hat, one hand reaching up to adjust it from the brim. "Help me out here, kid. I'm trying to work with you here."

Wing City. Yes, Katarina remembered that name. "Oh, Christ. Back here? I haven't been here for..." Too long? Not long enough? Forever wasn't long enough... "A while. But, at least I know where I am now." At this point Katarina noted that the child was still on the floor, looking pathetic.

Good grief.

"Hey, kid. You need a hand up, or you just going to sit there all day?" the mage proffered the end of her staff to haul the goat-boy up by. "Thanks for the info. It's... useful. 'least I know I'm not somewhere as obscure as... I don't know. Australia."

"Russia's a place, numbskull, not a person." Katarina's tone wasn't cruel, closer to dryly amused. "And I doubt I'm getting there any time soon, regardless. Teleportation is an uncertain art to begin with, but right now I don't even have any ingredients, I don't have a place to draw my chalkings... good grief. Bugger it, it wasn't an important meeting anyway." Just another phoney Council of Doom to shut down. It'd probably collapse on itself within the hour, anyway.

"Well, absent-minded goat child, what's your name? I am Katarina, it is a pleasure for you to meet me."

Katarina rolled her eyes, "Good grief, child. If you were really bothering me, you'd know it. You're not half as bad as my incompetent boob of an apprentice. Where the hell is that girl, anyway? Probably back in the US... ah well. She'll find her way here eventually. It would be far too kind of her to get lost and not bother me again."

The mage turned around to face Tatsuma, raising an eyebrow. "And don't bow! I hate bowing, it always seems sarcastic, and it's demeaning to you anyway. Stoppit! Stop! Look, let's... just try again. It's nice to meet you, Tatsuma. I am Katarina, we are going to share a drink. What do you drink, anyway?"

"Right, bitter herb tea. They probably serve that. I guess." Katarina shrugged, turning to the bartender. "Can I get a pot of bitter herbal tea, of some description, and a pot of basic ordinary tea bag tea? Yes? Good. Hop to it, then."

The mage turned back to Tatsuma. "Alright then. Stop apologising, too. You're just a barrel full of lack-of-confidence, aren't you? Come on, Tatsuma goat-kid, let me see some backbone!"

The staff was once again prodded at Tatsuma, towards his chest. "Come on, Tatty, Tatters, Tats. It isn't any fun talking to a spineless blob of jelly, pull yourself together!" Katarina rolled her eyes, "I mean come on, if this is the most you can offer you aren't really much of a first encounter here."

Katrina poked Tatsuma a third time. "I know mushrooms who can stand up for themselves better than you."

"Come on, kid, better than that." Katarina prodded Tatsuma again, more forcefully. "I'm annoying you, irritating you, you want me to stop. But what reason do I have to? You aren't giving me a reason to, boy, give me a reason to stop." The mage's methods might have been unorthodox, but she was trying to help the goat-boy.

"Nobody's going to back off if you talk like that, sometimes please just doesn't cut it." Another jab, and a frown. "Good grief, kid, you sure you aren't jelly?"

Katarina rolled her eyes, "You two aren't helping either, you think that the kid's gonna learn if you just pander to his inability to stand up and make a point? People don't get better at life situations if you hold their hand through it, at some point you have to stop treating them like fragile china and just give them a prod into action."

As if to emphasise this, the mage prodded Tatsuma again.

"Getting better, getting better - I don't want you to shout and punch someone, anyway. I still don't believe it, though. Come on Tats, you want me to stop, let me know! All I can hear is a little defenceless goat boy who can't do squat to get himself out of an uncomfortable situation." The mage jabbed the goat again with the staff, frowning.

"Stop mumbling, muttering, I don't want to have to strain to hear you! Puff your chest up, do something - I'll bet you're a big lad on the inside, put some of that out where I can see it!"

"And I choose not to take your advice! Stop advising, stop suggesting, stop asking! Tell me to stop, Tats, like you mean it!" Katarina scowled convincingly. "Go on, let me hear some command in there! You've got it in you, I'll bet, just let it out!"

The prods continued to come, in quick succession. "I'm not hearing myself being told, kid!"

Katarina grinned, then, retracting the staff and placing it back down on the floor with a satisfied thud. "There you go. See, you can stand up and express yourself. There's no need for you to be so small and accepting of bad things that happen to you, just letting people push you around is no way to bloody live." The mage patted Tatsuma on the head affectionately. "You're a good kid. Don't let people kick you about just 'cause you're too busy being nice to tell them to back off."

The mage lifted her eyes to Charley, "Who are you calling a brat? I'm thirty one, imbecile."

Katarina rolled her eyes, "We'll have to work on being 'cute' another time, eh?" the mage teased, laughing quietly. "I'd best get going. I have to find the people I know in this damn city and figure out a way to get my stuff here. I figure that I might as well stay a while, now I'm here. I'll see you around, kid. Remember what I said."

The mage gave Charley a dry stare. "You obviously know nothing about children." she stated, before turning and leaving the bar.

Katarina Blackheart would express her distaste at all the pokemon rubbish going on if her writer had any reason to bring her in. As it is, all the pokemon rubbish means that her writer does not.

Katarina Blackheart stormed into the bar, slamming the already-abused door with force and knocking it back against the wall. Pausing, the mage scowled at it, implying through her expression (though it was shadowed by her interesting hat) that it was the door's fault entirely that it had made such a loud noise, and that it should be ashamed of its actions because it had annoyed her.

"Hmmph." Katarina turned from the door after a moment, before striding toward the bar, walking directly between Ray's and Doryn's conversation. "Wine. Red." she instructed the tender.

Katarina smirked. "I prefer to filter them out of what I consider as 'existant' in my mind, rather than delude myself with alcohol." she said, adjusting the large hat upon her head. "Though the tripe is particularly loud today, I'll admit."

The mage leant backward, glancing from side to side at both Doryn and Ray, confirming that they were talking over her head, rather than to her, before returning her attention to Dom. "It's a talent, really. Selective hearing."

Katarina Blackheart heard Dom and made an appropriate response. But couldn't specify what that was, because her writer didn't know what Dom had said, even if she did?

"Homicide, probably." Katarina shrugged and downed a gulp of wine. "Or my apprentice will turn up. You haven't encountered annoying till you've encountered Tessa." The mage rolled her eyes.

"Oh, christ." Katarina cringed, recognising that voice anywhere. Turning around slowly, Katarina lifted a hand to wave stiffly to Tessa. "Ah, well, congratulations."

The dark mage frowned. "Uhm, Tessa. You're on fire. Miight want to do something about that..."

"We're here because..." Katarina waitedfor her mind to provide her with an excuse that wasn't 'I mucked up the teleporting to Russia and couldn't be bothered to come back and fetch you'. "...I wanted to visit the old Academy," that she had been exiled from "And an old friend. I think you've met him once. He was the one what was very confused when you... set the rare, ultimately priceless Hydra-weed cuttings... on fire. And then froze them solid trying to put them out. And then snapped them trying to thaw them out."

Katarina shook her head. "The German one."

"...Tessa, dear. Maybe you should let me do that?" Katarina brought one hand up to tug on her blonde hair with irritation. "Remember the bartender's no 'being on fire' policy? Now remember your track record with fire magic. Now put two and two together. Which is four, for reference."

To an outsider, Katarina might seem unnecessarily cruel. But harsh, none-sugar-coated truths were probably the only way Tessa was going to learn. Turning to Dom, Katarina raised an eyebrow. "I am supervising her. Or do you mean I'm supposed to actively intervene too? Good grief, how droll>"

Katarina glared at Tessa. "If you get me kicked out, you're not staying with me while we're in this city. You'll ruin my home insurance premium when you burn my apartment down."

"I find it suspicious that I'm never around when you have these rare successes." Katarina rolled her eyes, extending one arm and, rather than melting the water with fire, a rather dangerous option, she simply used ice magic to remove the ice itself, break it into ice cubes, and distribute it around a few patrons' drinks.

"You never consider the safe option, do you?"

Katarina Blackheart walked into the bar, eyes set ahead and staff tapping on the floor in regular rhythm. The dark mage was obviously deep in conversation, her phone held up to her ear.

"No. Absolutely not."

"C'mon, Katty! It'll be a blast! I'll only pick the most advanced..."

"Did I not make myself clear? No, Scarlet, it's not happening."

"Pleeease? For me?"

Katarina paused, scowling. She left a long gap before speaking. "...and when would I have to come in? N-no, no! Don't squeal. No, stop it. It's ridiculous. Stop."

"Sorry, but Wednesday afternoons -- One till three."

Katarina nodded, sighing. "Alright, I'll give it a go. Don't expect any miracles, and if I get harassed by any self-righteous do-gooder staff members, or helicopter parents, I swear..."
