In front of Whitcomb's vehicle a sliver of light appeared. Hot and blue-white it cut through the air, slicing through a piece of reality.

... and then it was gone in a flash.

A man appeared, dressed in alien attire. A giant bow was slung across his back. Tattoos were lined along his tanned flesh and a hood covered his face.

The man's pale eyes grew wide and he stretched out a hand towards the hood of the vehicle as if he could stop it. Kaus was unable to and the man flew over the hood and tumbled onto the roof of the car.

Behind the vehicle with rain pattering down onto him, Kaus laid on the slick road. He laid so still that Kaus appeared to be dead. Even breath was not visible.

A heartbeat later Kaus groaned and attempted to push himself up from the pavement but failed. His elbows buckled beneath his weight and his chest slammed back down onto the road. Injured and exhausted he remained there catching his breath.

Dull pains wracked his body and Kaus knew that he could be seriously injured. His hand moved sluggishly toward one of his tattoos causing another groan to rumble from his throat.

A voice that seemed faint and distant, as if it was muffled by something put Kaus on alert. He had jumped systems again and was now in a place that he did not recognize. There was a possibilities of hostiles.

His heart began to race and adrenaline pumped through his veins. Kaus opened his eyes and saw his twisted leg positioned in such a way that it was most unnatural. Bile threated to spew from his mouth.

Kaus's fingers finally reached the marking on his body. It glowed a soft blue before disappearing. A sickening crunch echoed in the rain accompanied by Kaus's scream. His bones had reset themselves and his injuries began to knit themselves back together.

He was still unaware of the woman but that, perhaps, was not to remain true too much longer.

Kaus heard the voice again but it was far off as if someone was attempting to speak to him from the other side of a tunnel. He turned his head toward the sound and saw Whitcomb.

The man lurched to his feet as if he had never been injured at all. The white hood Kaus wore clung to his face, hiding his expression. Dark circles ringed his pale eyes and he held himself like a cornered animal; ready to either take flight or fly.

It was unsure which Kaus would decide to do.

A babble of alien words left his mouth before he spoke in a language Whitcomb could understand.

"Where am I?" Kaus asked as he looked for his lost bow from his peripheral vision.

Kaus had no idea what Caprica City was but he noticed some similarities this place had that he had seen in others. He also recognized the weapon that the woman had in her hand.

The Promethean stared at Whitcomb. Kaus relaxed his stance fractionally. He was not about to drop his guard completely, even if it was a woman that faced him. Rational thinking allowed him to realize that the female was probably just as spooked as he was.

"Who are you," Kaus asked informally as he moved to place the car between himself and the woman.

"What is this Caprica City and what System am I in?" His foot nudged his bow.

"Kaus. Borealis," the Promethean stated before he bent to pick up his bow. He was unafraid to give his name.

He reached and clenched his fingers around his forearm. A faint shimmer passed along his body.

Before when he had been dressed as some outrageous fictional character from a fantasy book, Kaus now stood before Whitcomb looking like an ordinary citizen of Langara. The leather and white cloth had turned into a plain gray jumpsuit, His sandles into black boots, and his bow into a firearm at his hip.

The only features that remained the same about him where the pale eyes and white hair Prometheans were known for by those who even knew of them.

"And I did not run in front of your car. Your car hit me," Kaus said, kicking the tire.

"Elisha. Not a fighter's name," Kaus commented to himself. His tensed muscles relaxed even more and he began to walk away from the scene of the "accident".

"If the cops here are anything like the cops on Terra, I am not afraid," Kaus said as he passed the woman, almost brushing against her shoulder.

"And how I came here is not your concern."

"I know exactly who the Aschen are," Kaus said wheeling around on his heel and staring Whitcomb down. "You people," he pointed at her, "are a cause for much of the conflict there."

If anything had changed since the last time Kaus had been to Terra, he was unaware. The Borealis family had been disbanded and scattered across the galaxies.

"And as for why I am here ..." Kaus paused for a moment of thought. "I am searching for someone, if you must know."

"Now, I am leaving before your authorities turn up."

"I'm not a civilian," Kaus said over his shoulder as he made his way across the highway. He began to walk down the shoulder not looking back to see if Whitcomb followed or not. If she did or not it would not have bothered Kaus at all.

"I am not searching for a 'what'. I am searching for a 'who'. And your LDA does not scare me. I am sure that I have dealt with worse." Kaus reached up and slicked back his wet hair, pushing it out of his eyes.

He focused on Caprica and how to get there. Maybe Talitha was there. Kaus's brow furrowed and his steps became more driven.

Kaus could not help himself. He laughed at her usage of the word 'magic'. What she considered magic was not what he did at all. Although those on the outside and who were not Prometheans would not understand that it was part of them; part of The People.

The Promethean stopped and turned to face Whitcomb. His arms swept down him, gesturing to his attire and new appearance. "I doubt that I will raise any kind of alarm. After all, I look just like one of you," Kaus said. He figured that looking like one of the aliens was good enough and Kaus hoped there weren't too many intricacies with Langara.

"And one more thing," he called out to Whitcomb. "I am a Borealis. I go wherever I please." Kaus bowed in an old-world fashion, mocking the woman, and then took off running toward the city.

Whitcomb scowled, then she shook her head as the flashing lights of the CPF could be seen in the distance, as well as their sirens echoed. She didn't make an effort to run after him, rather she waited for the CPF Vehicles to stop, and two officers step from the vehicle.

"What happened?" He asked, and Whitcomb pointed to the man in the distance. "He ran in front of my car and I hit him, and then he healed himself with some kind of magic, and he took off towards Caprica City." She said, and the Officer nodded. "Very well, are you alright?"

Whitcomb nodded. "I am fine." She said, looking to the tow truck as it rolled up.

"We need to find that man."

Watchtower Cluster Galtea

High orbit over the Langaran continent of Lamos. First test of project: Arthur's Mantle.

Roughly one hundred twenty thousand kilometers from the watchtower was a series of three satellites had been positioned around a decommissioned Reverence I, hundreds of small spacecraft flitted about, as the Aschen prepared the test for their new defense system.

Commander Kalfas watched closely as the readouts showed promise, he turned to a pair of technicians, whom were going over some notations from the project.

"Commence first test of Arthur's Mantle defensive system." The Commander ordered, and several crew began to work the console, as a three-dimensional holographic representation came to life.

"Rapid Conversion, this is Watchtower Actual, are you prepared to initialize systems?"

The Reverence's Commander replied in the affirmative, keying up his reply on the speakers, Commander Kalfas nodded. "Initialize the timer, one millicenton, initialize transphasic anchors... now."

"Transphasic anchors initialized, Watchtower Actual."

Kalfas nodded, and began to key in his command code, while the technicians began to work their calibrations. "Anchor point confirmed... Raptor Two-One prepare to synchronize your FTL to initialize the test."

"Rapid Conversion, you remember the procedure? Engage Mantle, and then engage planck field."

"Affirmative, Watchtower Actual."

Kalfas watched the console, and then he looked out to the ship in the distance, which was just a speck on his display.

The Three satellites, and the Reverence I disappeared, without so much as a trace.

Kalfas nodded. "Communications check?"

The Technician shook his head. "Subspace communications are not receiving anchor point, dimensional interference is preventing the signal tether"

Another crewman spoke up. "FTL test is initializing, phased coordinates are locked."

The Commander nodded, watching the Raptor jump, there was a sudden violent red spatial tear that erupted where the Raptor was supposed to be within phase, the ship ejected into realspace. The Technicians all went over the data readouts, and one turned to the Commander.

"The Test is a success. Planck interference with dimensional barriers isolates the Pocket dimension, when Arthur's mantle is engaged, like the simulations show, not only will physical interaction with the subject be impossible, but with Planck systems engaged, it will be impossible to cross into the pocket dimension, thus the invader is ejected back into real-space."

The Commander nodded, as the Reverence, and the three satellites reappeared in the distance.

"The Emperor will be pleased."
