Kendra Lawrence The young woman laughed again, this time in merriment at his words. "I think you would flatter me even if I desisted in belittling myself, but nice try regardless."

His step forward made her smile shyly, resting her fingers over his wrist as best she could, eyes not quite looking at him, a little unfocused. "I don't think you quite have to put that much effort in," she countered, giving him a look of hopefulness before Kendra looked up at him with gentle eyes.

"You're quite red and I've no doubt I look quite the same. Your smile brings a warmth to my heart like few other things can."

Kendra Lawrence There was a moment of resistance as his arm came about her waist, however innocently, stumbling forward towards Lucian with a nervous smile. "See, flattering me again," she teased, though she felt quite out of sorts. This was all dangerously new territory and Kendra knew not how to navigate it.

His chuckled admission only served to deepen the rosy colour, arms lying rather uselessly at her sides but she did not move away, even though there was barely a few inches between them now. "I do not," she confessed haltingly, as if there was something that was on her mind. It was the wrong time to voice this however.

Kendra Lawrence "Come back," she demanded rather shortly, looking at him in mortification at her reaction to his movement. "I... Oh goodness... it is not you." There was a moment of silence as Kendra took his hands in hers, smiling in reassurance.

"I am just confused; you said you were nearly married once, and yet you claim that you have never been quite so bold as you are now. Did you not feel the same about your fiancée?"

The young woman wasn't sure whether she liked Lucian's capability to drag her questions and thoughts from her mind to her lips like they belonged to him but nonetheless, it seemed that there was no say in the matter for her. It would be futile to walk away, even this early. They had a hold on one another that she could only pray lasted beyond their initial meeting.

Kendra Lawrence "Convenience and friendship," Kendra breathed, not realising she had spoken aloud, mulling over what he had told her, feeling heartily sorry for the woman who had been cut down by strangers for some unknown reason.

"She must have been bold enough for the both of you," Kendra observed, giving him a searching look. "I'm making you remember again; forgive me. I was just wondering and you seem to have this inexplicable ability to draw out my questions, which is not a good thing, I assure you! I have many."

The young woman lifted an arm gently to rest it along his respective arm. "It's not sad; you cared for her and she for you. You would have been happy together, I'm sure and that's nothing to regret."

Kendra Lawrence Clearly, this was a wound in his heart and mind that would not heal easily, as whatever being Sentinel was, it evidently formed a great part of Lucian's identity as a person.

In keeping with his silent wishes - indicated by the change of subject - Kendra smiled, giving him a look of mock concern. "You are going to regret ever asking this of me, I hope you realise," she teased, relaxing backwards a little into his embrace, oddly confident that he would hold her steady.

"Hmm," she pursed her lips in concentration and it was a few moments before an appropriate question reached her mind. "Oh! What were you doing here, all alone?"

Kendra Lawrence Upon listening to his almost forgotten reasons, Kendra found herself unsurprised to learn that he preferred these woods, as he seemed rather at home in the woodland landscape, as was evident from his gathering of natural resources and more importantly - to her at least - the fact that he could light a fire, for she knew of no one who could do that back home.

"Well, I'm glad one of us has experience in wooded areas, as I'm afraid I'm rather useless at exploration, though I'm developing an interest in such areas now that I can visit them freely."

Kendra Lawrence Kendra laughed rather gaily at her companion's sudden spurt of enthusiasm and joy, not protesting anything at the look in his eyes. Instead, she looked out across the lake, a contented smile crossing her face as he spoke in rushed tones, talking of ideas and plans that sounded nothing like childish notions to her.

"Apologies again?" she enquired, shaking her head in admonishment, arms tightly wrapped about his neck for support, cradled as she was against his chest now. "It would take you much longer to educate me in such things than it would another."

Then after a moment, she laughed at his blush, shaking her head in pleasure at the whole situation. Being thrust into her arms stopped her from being quite so easily responsive to his touch. "All men are children anyway in my experience, in some way," she laughed again.

Kendra Lawrence His admission did not surprise Kendra in the slightest and she found she was very much of the mind that anything that meant they could spend extended lengths of time together was a good thing indeed. "Thank you, I'll try and be a good student."

Kendra Lawrence Then he stepped to the side of the lake and there was a little bit of squirming on her part, pressing closer to him, just in case bad luck should strike and she would fall into the lake fully clothed and desperately soaked. "Are you not free and beautiful already, though I think calm is something a little out of your reach; you enjoy life too much for stillness," she complimented, giving him a smile of encouragement as he made his request of her.

There was a crease of confusion on her forehead. Did he mean on his travels? He must do. "I think that would be something I'd heartily consider, as I can find little to keep me in Wing City for long, I'll wager."

His expression was making her smile involuntarily but she did not mind, turning her head after a moment to look across the water. "Please don't drop me," she blurted out.

Kendra Lawrence "Well, I can't let you dole out all the praise, can I?" Kendra countered evenly, unable to help a sigh of relief as the moment after his grin, he lowered himself to the ground.

Unfortunately, this also had the knock-on effect of leaving her positioned in his lap and now Kendra did attempt to squirm free, feeling a little awkward even as Lucian spoke.

"I would never have guessed you wild," she teased, tilting her head up at him in a curious moment. "That sounds like a lot of fun, actually and it probably wouldn't be hard for you, seeing as you are obviously capable of combat, adept at survival skills and have a drive to travel."

Kendra Lawrence His arms tightened, though not painfully and although there was a measure of reluctance to stay there, she relaxed moderately. His forehead against her head batted away at the last recesses of her resistance and Kendra smiled shyly.

There was a moment of appreciation at his words as the young woman nodded. "I have designed many a weapon in my lifetime, but I only use Archie's stunner to protect myself when others cannot."

His words of defence made her look a little wary, feeling a little too rushed but the Architect held her ground steadily. "I would hardly want you to get hurt instead of me, because that would be a decidedly worse misfortune than a personal injury."

Kendra Lawrence He was an immoveable wall when it came to protecting those dear to him? Just what kind of training and life did Lucian go through as a Sentinel?

"Your philosophy is quite different to mine, I will not lie but that does not mean I respect it any less," Kendra admitted, smiling brightly up at him. "You must possess a very strong will and presence of mind."

Kendra Lawrence Boldly, Kendra clasped her hand around his with a gentle squeeze. If someone had told her two days ago that she would be sitting in a stranger's lap after a very odd and yet natural meeting in some dark woods on the outskirts of Wing City, she might have laughed at them. It was funny how life worked out sometimes.

"I am a little bit curious," she hedged, creating a small distance between her forefinger and thumb, "but I don't want to make you talk about it if you would prefer to avoid it."

His praise made her feel slightly odd. No one had ever spoken to her of that perspective upon her gift before and she didn't see her learning difficulty as a handicap in any way, shape or form. "I don't see it that way; as a handicap, I mean. Everyone has their trials to deal with in life and I am grateful that mine are so small, when others can be so great and innumerable."

Kendra Lawrence cheerily entered the bar, almost skipping with every third step, humming a familiar, simple tune as she approached an empty table. She swung her feet upon the chair opposite, bringing a little flask of drink out of her small, omni-present backpack.

Kendra Lawrence It looked liked a whiskey flask, but the liquid inside was actually a mixture of vodka, cranberry juice and cocunut milk. It was an accquired taste, she believed, but it always made her think straight afterwards... as long as she didn't drink too much.

Kendra Lawrence What to do, what to do? It had been a good day of exploration about the city but now she had returned to the most popular bar, she tried to decide waht exactly to do, scanning the room carefully for anyone that seemed a little interesting.

Kendra Lawrence twisted her headband with the idle movements of a fidgety person, looking over at Oliver, who looked almost as amused as she at the majority of the commotion. But before she could make eye contact, he had turned away from the bar.

Ta-da, she thought brightly, moving to stand. "Or, I can go and say hello," she mused quietly.

Kendra Lawrence reached the bar, sitting down on a stool on the left-hand side, glancing sideways to note that the man had headphones on. Well, she certainly didn't want to be rude, beginning to tap her fingers along the counter to her own little private beat.

There was all sorts going on in this bar; fights, romance and even magic, her attention particularly held by that last subject matter. No magic in here world and it positively fascinated her.
