Description

Kethyr
The
Nerd
"Magicians are normally pretty-" He whipped a look over behind his shoulder, then lowered his voice. Mustn't speak to loud about others, especially when they are right across the room. "They're normally pretty cool, but this isn't just a normal magician. I don't know exactly how far his talents go," Kethyr again glanced behind him. Reaching back into his pocket, he pulled out another card. This one was different from the card that already lay on the table. It was not a business card, but a playing card. He placed it face down. The back of the card's decoration was so intricate, one might need a microscope to see the design. "He left me with this, after disappearing in a puff of orange, rum flavored smoke," Kethyr whispered, wrinkling his nose at the memory.- Kethyr Naethus on Merphin Dazzle in Gambit's Bar

Kethyr Naethus followed after the Beast and Jake, keeping his eyes on her. He didn't fully trust the Beast, not after what she did to him, but it appeared he had no choice. They were family, if not by direct blood by unfortunate circumstance. "She's our elder," Kethyr spoke with disdain, senses heightened.

Part of him wanted to approach the woman, no not woman. Beast. Instead, he chose to saunter up to a fire pit, and poke at it with his toe. He had yet to turn his back on the woman, and couldn't help but find her strangely beautiful. But no, she was the cause of all of this, and for that, he couldn't help but hate her.
- Kethyr Naethus in the Cursed Wood

She had told the whelp that was tailing her around the city that he could not learn to fight with the wolf-mind, if he did not first learn to fight as a man. There was truth to it, for without humanity to temper the beast one would inevitably succumb to madness.- Maria Raghild on Kethyr in the Master's Dojo

"You are an idiot child," Maria snapped. "You have no understanding of the wolf-mind, and no weapons. How is it you plan to fight?" she demanded. She shoved him to the ground, stepping closer to loom over top of him. There was something menacing in her movement and her posture, something feral and hostile. For several moments she glowered at him, assessing him. "You cannot learn to use the wolf-mind if you cannot even use your own. You will learn to fight as a man, and then maybe, maybe you will learn to use the wolf-mind." She stalked away towards the city, leaving him to stay or follow as he chose.- Maria Raghild

Kethyr Naethus shouldered his way into Gambits for the first time in his entire life. He couldn't help but wonder if it was always this busy as he made his way towards the bar. With a half hop onto a stool, Kethyr shot another look around the room, slowly sliding his glasses up the bridge of his nose. Resting his elbows on the bar, he perked his ears, listening to the sound of Gambits

Kethyr Naethus lurched sideways off of the stool and onto his feet, having had a firework burst out a female, of all things, right next to his ear. He straightened his glasses, focusing the sight of the smoldering girl. Mouth still open, he stared at her outstretched hand, appearing to be utterly horrified by the gesture.

"Er, Kethyr," He said in response, reaching forward to shake her hand by the fingertips.

Kethyr Naethus said to Tessa, "Of Course" , slapping a lopsided grin on his face.
"I'm not really supposed to tap into my powers either," He continued, blushing a bit, and fingering at the collar of his button up, "But that's more to save myself the embarrassment.

Kethyr raised his eyebrow. A frog? The girl talked on, and a smile crept back onto his face. Sounded like this Tessa had a knack for trouble! A Dark Mage? Kethyr thought he only read about those type of people in books. But then again, look at him. Oh no, now they were talking about him. Kethyr swiveled so he was facing Tessa, bemused by her ramblings

"Magic, kind of," he looked down at his hands, turning them over, "Nothing like spells or blasts...
And I most certainly don't go to school for it!" He added with a light laugh, accidentally snorting.

Kethyr Naethus blinked, the more Tessa spoke, the more he figured he had to learn! Well, maybe not, he thought as she scoffed. He worked his collar open and unbuttoned the next button down, shaking his head. No, Kethyr had never heard of Scarlet Dae. He mimicked her shrug, and froze when she inquired on his talents. Where?

"Erm..." He said, ears growing hot. He didn't exactly have proper skills or training. Actually, his whole life he had been told to keep his little powers a secret. A perplexed look crossed Kethyr's face, but only for a moment. He grinned sideways at Tessa again, and leaned an elbow on the bar.

"I guess it just comes naturally."

Kethyr Naethus didn't even know how to react. He went to push up his glasses, but they were still in place. He darted another look over his shoulder, his hand flying to his collar.

Kethyr looked at Tessa sideways, "You're only 17?"
After a moment he leaned in towards her, resting and elbow on the bar and his chin on his hand.
"You do realize that I'm old as hell," he said, gazing at her with a raised brow.
"Where in the worlds are you from, If you don't mind me asking?" Kethyr then inquired, an amused expression taking to his face

"Mmhm," Kethyr mumbled skeptically, still smiling. Well, this was certainly more than he expected to happen in this place called Gambits! Tessa seemed very unwilling to give any personal information.
Two can play at that game, he thought to himself.

"Here and there, sounds like where I live!" He relaxed his posture. Surely this girl, although secretive, meant no harm. "I'm 28, deary," Kethyr stage whispered with a wink.
He tried his best to ignore the chaos that seemed to be growing behind him.

"And as for my powers, well..." Kethyr waved a hand, and to someone who had no clue what he was doing, appeared to be miming a box.

Walking into Gambits, he was surprised to see it so empty. Last time he was here, the place was practically exploding! Literally...

He ran a hand through his red sculpted hair, tucking a piece behind his ear. Adjusting his glasses, he approached a seat at the bar, hopping up on it and darting a look around. Thump! He whipped around at the sound, anticipating a bomb or a large knife to have been thrown. But no, it was just a guy. A weird guy... the hell was he doing? Turning back to face the bartender, he smiled.

"Rum and coke?"

Swiveling sideways, he took a sip from his rum and coke. He lounged gently with an elbow on the bar, really looking at Gambits now that he could. It wasn't packed, so he could see the decor. I quite enjoy the ambiance they have going, he thought with an approving nod, it's very comforting and why the hell is that guy looking at me.

He curtly turned back to face the bar. Freakin' weirdo. The man looked like he had been there all night! Sipping tentatively on his rum and coke, he tried his best to ignore the man who kept looking at him.

Kethyr Naethus glanced over his shoulder, only to see the guy approaching. Grinning like the madman he was. Oh no, oh no, he darted a look towards the door, but it was too far. There would be no escape! Quickly, he started to down his rum and coke, clamoring for excuses to get the hell out of Gambits.

And there it was. The greeting, his conviction. As the last bit of rum and coke slid down is throat, the realization hit him like a ton of bricks. He really did have to talk to this guy, now. Might as well try to get it over with as fast as I can!

"Er...Hi," He said, sliding the empty glass a bit away from him and raising a finger, "Check?" Best to avoid eye contact, he thought to himself.

Out of the corners of his eyes, he peered at the shot. Part of him wanted to escape, but the rest of him knew he had nothing better to do today. Still, he leaned away from him, and watched as the shot was slid towards him.

Snap!

He jolted, whipping his face towards the guy and flailing, eyes wide as saucers. The hell?!
He stared at the card, mouth open, still posed like a karate master.

Coughing, he waved away the smoke that lingered. What just happened? Reaching down, he picked up the card off of the ground. It felt a little heavier than normal, and almost tingled...

With a shrug, he pocketed the card, figuring it was magic or something. Fishing a few gold coins from his pocket, Kethyr paid his check and left the bar, heading back to the office just a wee bit tipsy. What a weird lunch.

Kethyr Naethus quietly shouldered open the door to Gambits, peering around as he eased it shut behind him. That crazy man wasn't here today, thank goodness. He had been avoiding the bar ever since his last encounter here with the other ginger fellow. Keeping his eyes angled down, Kethyr shuffled towards an empty table, doing his best not to make eye contact with anyone. Gambits wasn't exactly empty, and he didn't necessarily want company

Kethyr Naethus looked up from his spot as a stranger was staring directly at him. Folding his hands atop the table, he did his best to avoid eye contact. But he could not, for the person was speaking now.
Taking a small breath, he adjusted his glasses and gazed directly at the newcomer.
"Surely," Kethyr attempted to put on a welcoming smile. He patted at the table, motioning for the newcomer to take a seat.

Again he settled his hands on the table as the guy took a seat with a thanks. Kethyr nodded in response, still keeping his eyes to himself. He heard a familiar voice in the air behind him, and was dreading the owner of the voice's company. That man was psycho, Kethyr thought to himself, and in the process completely forgetting his manners.

"Friendly indeed," the corners of his mouth pricked up to reveal a half smile. Kethyr absentmindedly responded, which was rude and unusual behavior for him. Squeezing his eyes shut, he gave his head a small shake. Opening his eyes, he rested them on the other guy.
"Newcomer, eh?" Kethyr stared at him through his glasses, and watched as a strand of red maroon hair entered his peripheral vision. Not here, not now...
"So do you like it here?" He swept the strand back into place, where it belonged, with the rest of his sculpted hair.

A snort was his initial reaction, but then he realized it would be unwise to skew the newcomers perception. After all, not everyone was as picky as he, and not everyone had met the mad alcoholic magician. Not everyone are corporate slaves either, he thought bitterly, staring darkly off into the distance beyond Blood.

"Nice to meet you, er," The name felt foolish on his tongue, "Blood Hawk," but then again his own name wasn't exactly common. He shook off the negativity and offered his right hand for a shake.
"I'm Kethyr Naethus, uh..." Where did he put his cards? With his left hand, Kethyr burrowed in his trouser pocket. They had to be there somewhere

He fished a card out from his pocket and placed it on the table between him and Blood, raising a brow as a man entered cleaning his sword.
"Besides that," Kethyr responded, nodding towards the sword bearing man and tugging at his collar, "There's another bloke in here who just isn't quite right." He lowered his voice to a whisper, and leaned in towards the other man.
"See the lunatic behind me? The bum looking one, don't look!" Kethyr froze, afraid to attract the attention of the man he loathed so much. Christ almighty, he had come here for peace, and once again was foiled by that drunken idiot's presence.

"Well besides the fact that he's a shoddy magician..." He couldn't explain what had happened without sounding like a loon. Kethyr had good reason to despise Phinny. Not only did the mad magician completely interrupt his relaxing lunch, ruin his first experience in Gambits, and make him have an asthma attack, but the man needed to learn how to dress!
"Blood, man, you wouldn't believe me if I told you," Kethyr shook his head and settled back into his chair, looking down at his lap.
