Description

Kethyr
The
Nerd
"Magicians are normally pretty-" He whipped a look over behind his shoulder, then lowered his voice. Mustn't speak to loud about others, especially when they are right across the room. "They're normally pretty cool, but this isn't just a normal magician. I don't know exactly how far his talents go," Kethyr again glanced behind him. Reaching back into his pocket, he pulled out another card. This one was different from the card that already lay on the table. It was not a business card, but a playing card. He placed it face down. The back of the card's decoration was so intricate, one might need a microscope to see the design. "He left me with this, after disappearing in a puff of orange, rum flavored smoke," Kethyr whispered, wrinkling his nose at the memory.- Kethyr Naethus on Merphin Dazzle in Gambit's Bar

Kethyr Naethus followed after the Beast and Jake, keeping his eyes on her. He didn't fully trust the Beast, not after what she did to him, but it appeared he had no choice. They were family, if not by direct blood by unfortunate circumstance. "She's our elder," Kethyr spoke with disdain, senses heightened.

Part of him wanted to approach the woman, no not woman. Beast. Instead, he chose to saunter up to a fire pit, and poke at it with his toe. He had yet to turn his back on the woman, and couldn't help but find her strangely beautiful. But no, she was the cause of all of this, and for that, he couldn't help but hate her.
- Kethyr Naethus in the Cursed Wood

She had told the whelp that was tailing her around the city that he could not learn to fight with the wolf-mind, if he did not first learn to fight as a man. There was truth to it, for without humanity to temper the beast one would inevitably succumb to madness.- Maria Raghild on Kethyr in the Master's Dojo

"You are an idiot child," Maria snapped. "You have no understanding of the wolf-mind, and no weapons. How is it you plan to fight?" she demanded. She shoved him to the ground, stepping closer to loom over top of him. There was something menacing in her movement and her posture, something feral and hostile. For several moments she glowered at him, assessing him. "You cannot learn to use the wolf-mind if you cannot even use your own. You will learn to fight as a man, and then maybe, maybe you will learn to use the wolf-mind." She stalked away towards the city, leaving him to stay or follow as he chose.- Maria Raghild
to Kethyr, who chose to follow.

He really didn't know why he followed them all the way here. It had started out a normal night, or so he thought. They met at Gambits, he and his coworkers. They were there before him, and flagged him down before he could escape. If he had arrived before them, like he planned, he was going to leave on account of 'having another appointment that showed up out of the blue'. Maybe even go back to the office.

However, there he was, fidgeting in his seat and sipping on his rum and coke. They were certainly nothing like who they pretended to be in the office. He wasn't sure how he thought about that. Phil, for example, who is often sucking up to the boss with praise of Luke Skywalker...He's really a sith! And Bobby, man, this guy never shuts up. The conversation he could barely relate to, it turns out the two were both huge 'DnD' nerds and very superstitious. Phil more so, Bobby as it turns out is one of those internet skeptics. Ugh. It was now almost midnight, two cokes and a beer later, traipsing through the woods. Why were they out here again? Blasted internet. Kethyr shot a look towards Bobby as he spoke, face illuminated by smartphone;

..And I was reading, on the internet, if the...page ever loads...Well anyway these woods, there's something funny about them. They're called the Cursed Wood...

He stopped listening and rolled his eyes. Sure, the woods were spooky at night, but it was kind of...peaceful here. Very dark. He quickened his pace, feeling the chill of the air on his skin. It didn't bother him all that much, alcohol still warmed his blood.

...undead things are said to have lurked in Cursed Wood. Vampire sightings are common-However one sights a vampire- in local lore. Oh I guess that explains it. Anyway, What i read today wasn't about vampires. Someone tweeted it, actually, that there are rumors of a werewolf out here and ahhh let me find the page...Here it is!

Bobby had managed to pull up a picture of a snarling, wolf like, bipedal creature.

"Is that from Harry Potter?" Phil said with a small smile. The three had halted, and after taking a glimpse at the photo, Kethyr decided he wasn't interested. This was all so moronic, and he was getting sick of the sound of Bobby's voice.

No! Er, maybe, It might be. Well, anyways. I hear tha-

His words were cut short by an earth quaking roar, and Kethyr felt fear seep into his bones for just an instant. It was on them, whatever it was, and there was a crunch. In the flailing light of Bobby's smartphone, Kethyr could see the corpse of Phil. In that moment he panicked, starting off into the woods. He only got three or so feet, before an unseen rock caught his foot and tripped him. It sounded as if Bobby had been floored as well.

Palms on the ground, crap, where were his glasses? His heart was pounding in his ears when suddenly...

Holy shit! Phil! Kethyr! Holy aaaahhhhhh! Oh my gaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Pain seared through his leg. It had him! Shit! He could barely hear Bobby over the sound of his own blood. He clawed at the ground, his glasses were gone forever now, as the beast dragged him into the woods. He tried, with his other leg, to kick for a moment,
Booooobbbbouch!

and then collapsed with fear.

Oh my gaahhh ahhhh holawagahhh its a wolf ohmigahPhiiiiill

Bobby continued to freak out, attempting to drag the corpse of Phil away.

Oh god, oh god, he could vomit, and he did his best to not. He lay there, still, barely breathing, hearing Bobby scream behind him. So this was it, the end?

And it was gone, for a moment he lay crippled. For a moment he accepted his fate. Bobby's screams of death snapped him from that peace of mind, and he erupted to a stand. Falling, shit no! His leg was done, screwed, over with. I must crawl on, determined, he did not want to end up like Bobby. He crawled to a tree, pulling himself to a stand. He could make his way like this, maybe...

With a shudder, he turned his back on the sounds of death, the possible location of the wolf.

Kethyr Naethus spotted his friend Jake from afar, but was less than relieved to see him. It was nearing night, and he was feeling peculiar, sickly. His anger as of late had been touchy, and something about this night worried him.

"Jake, so good to see you. It's," He swallowed, "Well, I guess it's all going ok. You?" Darkness was approaching.

Kethyr Naethus smiled, almost, but something was impeding on his happiness. He blinked a few times, pushing all thoughts of negativity to the far back of his mind.

"Nice, yeah, I've been working. You know, the daily grind!" Kethyr tried to make a joke, but couldn't help darting looks into the trees around him. The shadows were growing long and he kept....hearing things. Things he didn't normally hear. He tried not to think about it, but failed.

"Watched?" These woods, he didn't know why he even agreed to meet here, but he did. Kethyr sure hoped they weren't being watched, not after...

No. Don't think about that, He thought to himself with a dismissing wave of his hand.

"Probably just an owl, or a fox, or-" The hairs on the back of his neck stood on their tippietoes, as his thoughts began to cloud. Clearing his throat, he offered Jake a small smile, but all the same stepped towards a tree. Woah, what was that?

Kethyr Naethus laughed along with Jake, but the sound was soaked with fear.

"Hah, yeah, werewolves," He leaned against the tree and wiggled his hands before him for dramatics, "Reeeal scary!" As he withdrew his hands, he noticed something slightly peculiar about them. They itched. Bad. Scratching at the skin, Kethyr looked around again. Was that a squirrell he smelled? No, no, that's not even possible.

Darkness had fallen upon the woods like a blanket of soot after an unhealthy explosion. He couldn't see it from where he was, but the full moon was steadily making her way into the night sky. The air whirred through Kethyr's nostrils, carrying with it the scents of his surroundings. Whatever was going on, he sure had no clue what it was. Head spinning, skin itching, hair on edge, even his bones felt funny.

It wasn't only physical. His mind was going haywire, his emotions raging from enraged to enthralled. He could barely hear his friend Jake over the thoughts that rampaged through his mind. Nodding off kilter, Kethyr tried to meet Jake with his gaze. Meanwhile, his bones were tingling, and his vision was nearly blackened.

Kethyr Naethus was barely coherent, but felt his world shift. Sounds swam in his ears, along with the deafening roar of the woods. Who was he with, and where was he again? And where was he goi-

It began to happen, starting with his hair. It grew, thickened, sprouting from every pore on his body. Nails thickening, canines extending, Kethyr could barely feel the transformation happening over the pain of his corrupted soul tearing itself from his body. At least, that's what it felt like was happening, to him.

Kethyr Naethus crumpled on the ground, but remained in that state for but an instant. The transformation, rapid and crude, was complete but moments later. Kethyr was gone, there was now only beast. Footsteps, pounding, could be heard. They were growing further away, and fast, but oh did the scent trail smell delicious.

And he was off, pounding after...after...after his dinner.

It pursued it's prey, saliva dripping from it's muff. Growing closer, the beast tore passed and through scenery. His dinner smelled of fear, of sweat, and of delicious fresh meat. It was zigzagging, so the beast mimicked the behavior, vaulting his momentum, inching closer and closer. The beast was still weak, but not weak enough.

The scent changed, but it still smelled delicious. He charged, picking up speed, and nearly bypassed his prey. With a snarl, he rounded, turned, and attacked.

Kethyr Naethus felt something land on him, his back specifically, and this angered him greatly. He bucked, whirled, and slammed into a tree, attempting to shake it off of him.

Kethyr Naethus growled and lunged, searing through the air. He overshot his target, literally, for it was moving and he was still fresh in this form. However, as the beast plummeted over the head of his prey, his talon nicked at something. The something felt like flesh.

He barely felt the kick, for something far more sweet was distracting the beast. There was blood on his talon, he realized as he licked at the glistening liquid. Paused, for the moment, Kethyr tasted blood for the first time. The feeling it gave him was wild, overwhelming, and with that there was not an ounce of humanity left in the beast. Not like there was before...

Frozen for the moment, the beast savored the blood, licking a rip of flesh from beneathe his talon.

Kethyr Naethus didn't think, but snapped at the object that kicked him. His teeth sunk into something that wasn't flesh, before poking past skin.

Kethyr Naethus had seemingly incapacitated his prey, and let go. Triumphantly, and slowly, the beast raised itself to all fours, looming over the victim that was once it's friend. It tossed it's head back, and released a howl that could have awoken the dead. Now, should he eat all of it now, or save some of it for later? The question didn't cross the beast's mind, but it seemed to have, for he had yet to act out in violence again.

Something could be heard, at least by the wolf, not too far off in the distance. Another snarl escaped the beasts lips, as he proclaimed this spot not safe to dine. Loweing his snout, the beast noticed his prey was still alive. Gingerly snapping at the non-flesh material of his prey, the beast began to drag it deeper into the woods. Where he was going, he knew not, but away from here.
