Koken'in; guardian of the Root Lands.
Koken'nin is a consecrated young warrior from the fabled Root Lands; a mystical forest cut away from the rest of Terra by a perception altering field. He is of Deistic influence and his prowess, whilst at first alarming, can quickly turn ambrosial. He lives not to destroy, but to protect his ancestral lands where so few are left. He wields the Nedake Ken.
Apple; faithful companion.
Apple is of the Root Walker tribe; deer-like mammals who roam and feed on vegetation. Apple and Koken'nin share a brotherly bond reinforced through a childhood spent together. Apple's antlers are enough to out-best Steel and his butt can easily break down a wall. However, his skill remains in his ability to project his soul into physical form, often inflaming himself in burning blue fire for a variety of effects. He has also learned to speak, allowing for easy communication with Humans.
Nedake Ken; legendary blade.
The Nedake Ken is a Chokuto-like blade encompassed by an ebony scabbard and guardless hilt, where a strand of red silk is its only decoration. In another man's hands, the blade's raw sharpness can cut through steel and its raw density is higher than diamond. However, as a sword that specifically chose Koken'nin, Nedake Ken's strength directly mimics that of its wielder in his hands; to break it, you must be able to break Koken'nin and so on. It also cuts only to Koken'nin's inner will, meaning his subconscious feelings towards a particular object or person dictates its ability to harm.
The Root Lands; a mysterious paradise.
The Root Lands is a mystical forest hidden away by a perception altering field. Surrounding it on all sides, with a total area roughly twenty times that of the forest itself, is a large circle of land split between desert and tropical climates. It is inhabited by human warrior tribes, who fight a war between themselves with the hope of eventually invading the center. The Root Lands themselves have never been fully explored, not even by those who know the land best; where ones feet seem to disappear into flowing silver silk that splashes like water. Interaction is rare, one can often go years without seeing another face and barely a hundred sapient beings are left, most living a life of solitude and peace among the gardens and forest floors. Most of these are of Deistic influence, either God-spawn, or Gods themselves. The most common creatures are called "Gigi" and are found almost everywhere; coming in all manner of shapes, sizes and colours but rarely, if ever, larger than a dog.
