Kynala Evantus pulled up outside Gambit's in a black limousine, her eyes peering through the blacked out glass at the front of the establishment. The bar was one of the few businesses within Wing City that the Ri had been unable to place her claws in, OmniCorp had a hand in almost every successful franchise in the city, and Kynala had decided that the only way to find out how Gambit's was resisting her takeover bids was to visit it herself.

She nodded to one of her bodyguards as the door of the limo was opened, and stepped out into the cold, making a swift path to the doorway. Two of her guard went ahead, two behind - Kynala never walked alone, she was far too rich for that, too much risk of a bullet to the brain or an abduction for ransom.

When the door was opened for her by one of the guards, the businesswoman walked inside, pausing in the doorway to survey the chaos. "This isn't quite what I expected..." she murmured.

Kynala Evantus glanced from the patch of ice that formed beneath her to the snowman of a bouncer, and wrinkled her nose. Unfortunately, her indignation was interrupted by the sound of gunfire coming from outside, and the woman turned her head slightly to inspect what the hell was going on.

It seemed a rather large battle, and something that definitely didn't concern her - and so she ignored it, making her way further into the bar, her bodyguards following her. She approached the counter, glancing subtly towards Motoko - this looked like the woman who owned the majority share in the place, and the person that Kynala needed to first observe, and then speak to.

Kynala Evantus frowned. Was she mistaken? Surely the Motoko Attenborough who owned the bar wouldn't be the same Motoko who was serving drinks in person? That would be absurd. But she did match the description, and seemed to be in charge.

What kind of place was this? Was it actually just a single bar, not a chain? Then why on Earth had all of her takeover bids been rejected? This was becoming more and more vexing...

Kynala Evantus waved a hand to the guards "Let him pass, he is not a threat. From what I've heard, not the most professional bouncer, but not the type to intend harm against a customer without reason." she said, turning on her seat to look at Cryoface.

"Was there a reason you wished to speak with me?"

Kynala Evantus grimly noted that the massive amounts of gunfire outside denied her the option of leaving on a whim. Hopefully the fight would have ceased by the time she wished to leave, or she would have to call in a more significant escort.

Kynala Evantus appraised NiVom with her gaze, shaking her head at his actions. "Professional staffing, I see..." she muttered. "I have better security in my grocery shops... that being none at all."

Kynala Evantus raised her gaze to Motoko, silently appraising her for a few moments before speaking "Miss Attenborough, I presume. My name is Kynala Evantus, I believe you know of me. You received several takeover bids for the establishment over the last few months, from my company, all of which you rejected. I am merely curious as to your reasoning. What is it about this place which means you are unwilling to sell?" she queried, "It must cost you a fortune in upkeep."

Kynala Evantus raised an eyebrow in response to the woman's reasoning "With the kind of money I was offering, you could live out your retirement any way you wanted. You could probably buy any ship on the market, spend your days doing anything you wanted with the entire traverse at your fingertips. Surely running a small bar cannot be more interesting than having the galaxy as your playground?"

Kynala Evantus smiled "Oh? How much, and for what price?" she asked, ignoring the commotion nearby in the bar, where a young woman appeared to be being beaten to a pulp by a large man. Even as she asked about the woman's offer of stock she continued to probe as to her reasoning behind not wanting to sell up "A select group of the galaxy's inhabitants cannot be as exciting as the galaxy itself, surely? You could explore the Crystal Dunes of Persei 7, the Golden Waterfalls of Taurus Prime - any number of wonders."

Kynala Evantus crunched the numbers in her head, converting the amounts and finding them perfectly reasonable, as the woman had stated "Done. I can have the money transferred to you within the hour."

$12600 was nothing to Kynala, it was small change, and for the satisfaction of owning a significant proportion of this elusive bar, she would have thrown more money at it than was strictly reasonable. Call it OCD.

Kynala Evantus nodded to Motoko, and turned her attention to observing the confrontation between security staff and patrons occurring nearby. "Hm. I might arrange some of my own security staff to be placed here. Your own do not appear to be... professional. I believe I have said so already? Yes. Obviously, I have no authority to even remotely suggest you might be better off firing some of them, but I can ask to place my own men here to protect my interests."

Kynala Evantus predicted this encounter would not develop pleasantly, and gestured to her four guards to be alert. The men uneasily loosened their guns, watching Rigel and Sol.

Kynala Evantus turned her gaze to NiVom, raising an eyebrow. She indicated him to her guard, and they also turned to look at him, each of them scowling. So unprofessional, bouncers should not threaten patrons unless they were directly causing trouble. She really hoped that Motoko would fire the animal, it was about as useful as a rabid dog at guard duty, in that it bit everything, and on occasion that might happen to be someone who deserved biting.

Kynala Evantus took out her cellphone, and tapped in a few numbers. After a moment, it was answered. "Yeah, it's Evantus. I want an ad out for security staff willing to represent OmniCorp in this little bar, name's Gambit's. Yes, though a rather ineloquent description, 'the one with the crazy shit' is appropriate. They'll need to be good, capable of taking down monsters and mages, that kind of crap. Alright. Make sure the screening process is tough on them, but I want a team in by next week."

Kynala Evantus walked into the bar, trailed as usual by four armed body guards, her arms folded and her gaze steady. A new addition to her group today, however, was a tall and spindly man carrying what for all intents and purposes looked like a high-tech clipboard.

Kynala Evantus walked with this man to the center of the bar, and began gesturing back and forth, dictating to the man as he began to take down notes and snapshots of the bar. This survey of the bar would go on for a long time, and its purpose was unclear.

Kynala Evantus strolled into the bar, flanked by four security guards. Upon entry, she realised if the biggest threat in here decided to kill her, those men weren't going to stop them. There were several rather large and unseemly mechs in the bar, and they looked like they would turn her men to mincemeat in a moment.

She really needed to get tougher guards for this place, the businesswoman decided.

Kynala Evantus sat down at the bar counter, allowing herself a glance at the apparent military personnel sitting nearby. Glassing. That would be the Aschen, then - Kynala didn't like the Aschen, they had cost her millions of dollars in damages. The downside to owning a large proportion of the city's businesses, was that you had to pay a large proportion of the city's damages in times like this.

Kynala Evantus tutted prominently, inserting herself into the conversation she had been eavesdropping on between Marlene and Abrams. "It isn't the casualties I'm worried about. It's the money I lose whenever one of your men causes trouble in one of my establishments, when your stray bullets smash stock or windows of my stores. An occupying military force is very expensive. Your commerce is appreciated but your damages not."

Kynala Evantus "Rather ineloquently put, but the sentiment is true. The City is stretching under you, Miss, you and your soldiers. It is only a matter of time before it can stretch no further, and either bounces back, propelling you off into space, or simply breaks."

"And how many cubits would constitute a dollar, or visa versa?"

Kynala Evantus idly tapped away on a device on her wrist. It beeped several times, sending out a signal, before quieting again. That was all, nothing else. But then Kynala smiled at Marlene, a half smile that did not quite reach her eyes. A dangerous smile.

Kynala Evantus smiled as the sound of several vans pulling up outside could be heard. After a few moments, a number of men and women walked into the bar, heavily armed but entirely casual. They made no offensive moves, but the OmniCorp logos on their armour made it very clear who they were working for. "I would agree with the good man, Miss Aschen. I am afraid your welcome is less than extensive."

Kynala Evantus made a subtle hand gesture as discontent murmurings began to ripple through her men, alerted as to who the threat to their employer was, personal resentments factoring into their duty. The gesture ensured that they would not attack out of turn. She would hate to seem the bad guy here.

Kynala Evantus smiled "I admire your armies timing, but really, your tanks are no worry to me. This place can withstand worse than your weapons, it has done so in the past and will do so again. Unless they plan to come in through the door..."

She trailed off at Claire's comment "An act of war? A private corporation bringing its own troops onto a premises partially owned by said corporation, an act of war? I find your logic... fallible."
