Laeveria Lacerta

A mysterious and devious demoness, apt in the weaving of words upon her silver tongue. Responsible for the downfall of many otherwise strong political leaders, her interference in mortal affairs is a constant thorn in the side of her counterpart, Celeste.

Description

Laeveria Lacerta
"Daughter of Havok"

ImageAge: Nine thousand and twelve.
Birth Date: 7002 BC
Gender: Female
Race: Demon
Rank: Dominion

Abilities

Inherent Demonic Abilities:
Psychokinesis: Examples of psychokinesis include distorting or moving an object, and influencing the output of a random number generator.
Levitation
Possession: Laeveria can subvert weaker minded individuals or animals, transferring her consciousness into theirs, and taking control of their body.
Contracts: As a demon, Laeveria - when she has free time - sometimes deigns to dabble in a bit of tempting. When doing so, she naturally has to have a method of binding the deals she makes, and so vested in her is the power to form binding contracts with the devil, the terms of which she is trusted to draw out herself.
Animal Control: Laeveria can influence nearby animals, putting them into a frenzy or calming them.

Extra Sensory Perception:
Divination: Laeveria can, to a degree, learn an objects history simply by holding it, including who its owners were and what it has been used for.
Telepathy: Laeveria can read the thoughts of others, and transmit her own into their minds as a form of communication.
Precognition: Laeveria can predict major events, as well as smaller events that directly affect her - but only when she puts her mind to it. The visions do not come upon her, she must actively seek them out.
Retrocognition: Laeveria can often display knowledge of a past event she has experienced that she could not have acquired by normal means given where she was or what she was doing at the time. For example, she could relate back to you the features of a man who walked into a bar, took a package, and out again, whilst the entire time having been facing the other way.

Classical Element Control:
Fire: Laeveria can manipulate the element of fire in the usual ways, fireballs, blasts, and etc.
Water: Laeveria can manipulate the element of water in the usual ways, water jets, ice, and etc.
Wind: Laeveria can manipulate the element of wind in the usual ways, wind blasts, lightning, and etc.
Earth: Laeveria can manipulate the element of wind in the usual ways, earthquakes, metal manipulation, and etc.
Aether: Described as 'subtler than light', Aether is the fifth element, and refers to the Celestial energies of both Heaven and Hell. It is Aether that fills both these realms, rather than any of the other four elements, and it is both all of them and none of them at once. The manipulation of Aether allows Laeveria to pass between the mortal realm and these realms, and thus allows her the power of teleportation - as she can enter Hell from one point and then re-enter the mortal plane at an entirely different location. She stays away from Heaven, she generally doesn't get a very good reception.

Witchcraft
Curse of Weakness: Laeveria lays a curse upon an enemy, sapping the strength from their muscles and the energy from their body. They slowly become sluggish, then stilled, then slowly collapse under their own weight unless the curse is lifted. The curse takes near an hour to fully remove the victim’s strength.
Depression: The mind of the victim begins to create sorrow where no sorrow is, imagining events of misery that infects their heart, sending them spiralling into sorrow and crippling depression.
Fear: The mind of the victim is filled with horrific imagery, terrifying them with their worst nightmares, and sending them fleeing for their lives from an imagined monstrosity.
Restless Slumber: Slowly the victim is drawn into a hypnotic slumber where they stand, knocking them unconscious and into a deep unnatural sleep.
Insidious Poison: The blood of the Witch's foe is contaminated with a deadly poison, that slowly creeps through their bloodstream to seize their heart and hold it still, weakening them considerably until a cure can be found. The poison takes several days to kill, but weakens instantly, and cannot be dispelled like most spells. The antidote must be found, which ironically comes from the deadly flower Nightshade.
Shapeshifting: Laeveria can change her form at whim, be it to that of an animal or simply altering her features.

Personality: Laeveria's personality can be described as whimsical, childish and egocentric, but these are merely the outward signs she gives off. Beneath the surface, whilst these are aspects of her personality she is a far more sinister being - manipulative and cruel, capable of lying through her teeth while seeming as sincere as ever, and watching a person die while drawing nothing from it but mild amusement. Whilst she is not the sort of demon to go about slaughtering innocents, she certainly doesn't go out of her way to help them, and often inconveniences them greatly be it via merit of her presence or merit of her actions. Her sense of humour is somewhat sadistic, and she has a very superior attitude towards mortals, considering them worthless for anything but brief entertainment value.

So begins...

Laeveria Lacerta sat at the counter, sipping a glass of wine. It was hard to say whether she had been there a few moments ago, and anyone watching the particular stool at which she sat at now would probably be suffering from a painful headache and sudden disorientation.

Laeveria tended to piss off the space time continuum like that.

Laeveria Lacerta idly took note of the fool trailing salt in the middle of the bar. Very idly.

Laeveria Lacerta gave Liza a sidelong, casual glance. "And why, pray tell, are you carrying salt around in your pockets? I am quite certain that condiments are not normal things for a human to carry about, unless bundled with a lot of other shopping."

Laeveria Lacerta did not wail, as such, but she did snatch her hand back. "If you're going to be like that," the demoness hissed "I'm going to have to get unfriendly. Do you even realise what calibre of foolery you are getting yourself into, girl? I am no petty lesser demon, I am a Dominion!"

Laeveria Lacerta "You seem to think I have to touch you to do you harm." Laeveria said dryly, before hissing as one of the grains landed upon her bare arm. "I will give you one last chance before I vanquish your very soul, mortal." she hissed, being far more reasonable than any demon had right to be.

She had been talking with Legion too much.

Laeveria Lacerta was seated at the bar counter. There was some doubt as to how long she had been there, or whether she had in fact been there for even a second before you noticed her. Certainly, you are sure you remember her having been there for a while, maybe even from the moment you got here... but the details are somewhat fuzzy. In truth, Laeveria had simply appeared, but in such a manner that it was difficult to pinpoint the exact moment of her arrival.

The demoness took a sip from a glass of wine that may or may not have been there a few moments earlier, and leant backwards with a smile, surveying the room. Laying her eyes upon Nyx, she raised an eyebrow, and lifted a hand to offer a light hearted wave.

Laeveria Lacerta was rather abruptly sitting next to Nyx - or had she been there all along? It was hard to tell - leaning back against the seat and examining the back of her hand. "A good afternoon indeed, my lady succubus." she responded with a smile, familiar enough with the domains of hell to recognise its denizens by feel and look alone.

"I do think I perhaps shall. I am ever so bored, you see; nothing interesting has happened since I convinced that fellow to sign away his soul to me a few months back..."

Laeveria Lacerta yawned, nodding her head slowly in agreement. "Oh? I find troublesome humans are often the source of most of my entertainment... a little tempting here, a little poking with a metaphorical stick there..." The demoness smiled, eyes directed off into the middle distance as if reminiscing; though in truth she merely had a short attention span.

"Nyx Alurane? Hm, the name sounds familiar. You are prominent on the plane of Lust, are you not? I myself am Laeveria Lacerta. I do not have a particular domain upon the planes, I prefer to consider myself a more rounded individual than most of our kin."

Laeveria barely registered the encroaching tendril, seeming rather more interested in the ceiling, though she of course was aware of its existence. The demoness' mouth quirked upwards at the corner in mild amusement, but in truth there was little that did not amuse her.

Laeveria Lacerta smirked, nodding her head "Perhaps, though I have admittedly had more trouble dealing with troublesome demons. Or ex-demons, as they so pretentiously call themselves." she remarked, frowning faintly. "Have you heard of Legion, perchance? Legion of Gerasene, 'We are legion', had an unfortunate run in with the almighty and subsequently became decidedly less cooperative with our work ethos. In that he developed an ethos."

The demoness sighed faintly, "A pity, really, we used to be companions. Regardless. And indeed, the majority of those I have experienced encounters with upon this plane of existence have really encouraged my faith in humanity - they remain as flawed and vile as ever."

Laeveria Lacerta chuckled, "In truth? Boredom, mostly. Most interesting activity seems to centre around this place, I occasionally visit to see what interesting events I can witness and upset by interfering." she replied, smiling and tilting her head slightly. "I occasionally find said Legion here, also, and berate him. But that aside, there is no real prominent motivation for my presence." she admitted.

Laeveria Lacerta paused, "But what is this obvious reason for your own presence? Is it the same as I, boredom and whimsy, or something more involved?"

Laeveria Lacerta glanced towards where Nyx indicated, and smirked, "He seems positively enchanted, Nyx. Goodness, the state of society nowadays. Why, just a few hundred years ago that boy would have been smacked for even glancing at a woman's ankles. Despicable, really." the demoness tutted in mock disapproval.

"Such improper behaviour."

Laeveria Lacerta nodded, all dignified certainty and posture. "Certainly, I do not know what the world would do without such upstanding and proper individuals such as us, and all our charity, kindness and selfless action." she continued, her face entirely straight.

"I imagine it would dissolve into something resembling some sort of... hell."

Laeveria Lacerta nodded slowly, "They grow, and they are easily corruptible. It is incredibly easy to corrupt a parent whose child you have in your thrall." she remarked with a smile, as if discussing something more akin to flowers than corrupting people's immortal souls and damning them to an eternity in the fiery bowels of hell, torturous depths of utter carnage horror and death, bitter pain and *breathe* agony the likes of which have never been experienced in even the worst nightmares of a mere mortal.

That was rather a mouthful of a thought, Laeveria noted. "Fragile little things, they are..."

Laeveria Lacerta chuckled, before spying a rather interesting situation in the corner. Disappearing, Laeveria reformed in a 'poof' of smoke beside Roseline Takeko, crouching down beside her.

"Oh, my poor dear! Whatever is the matter?"

Laeveria Lacerta placed a comforting hand upon Roseline's arm, shaking her head, "Whatever did you do to cause such tears, dear?" she queried, her face the picture of concern and worry.

Laeveria Lacerta sighed sadly, wrapping one arm around the girl's shoulders in a motherly fashion, "Oh, my dear, that is an awful situation. Unrequited love, the bane of us all!" she said, shaking her head. "But remember," she continued, pressing one finger to the girl's chest, over her heart, "If that which you speak of is true, there is always a means to an end... how far would you go for this boy's love, my dear? What would you suffer for him?"

To avoid her intentions being 'misconstrued', Laeveria added, "Do not take me wrong, I am merely trying to... ascertain the strength of your love."

Laeveria Lacerta gasped, shaking her head, "Goodness no, do not go down that path my dear..." she murmured, tutting. "But I can see your love is strong, and so I believe I may be able to help you. You see, it is within my power to grant you him, if you are willing." she explained, smiling warmly.

Laeveria Lacerta nodded, "It is possible, I can grant you it." she continued, waving her hand. In the air before Roseline appeared a mystical sight - a piece of golden glowing paper, complete with golden inkwell and purest white quill, all giving off an aura of divine light, seeming for all the world like objects taken directly from heaven.

"Have you ever heard of the concept of a genie, my dear? Well allow me to use that as an example; there is a type of angel that is responsible solely for answering the needs of the pure of heart, and I am of this type." she explained, "I can grant you your wish - only one wish, mind, for this boy - if you only sign your name on the dotted line.

Laeveria gestured to the paper, covered in writing, with the promise 'the heart of your dearest love shall belong only to you' written in large font near the bottom, with a dotted line for Roseline to sign.

Laeveria Lacerta 's smile widened, as the contract flashed. "Why thank you my dear!" the demoness purred, letting out a decidedly unfriendly laugh.

"You really should learn to read the small print, little Roseline." she continued, "Good afternoon, allow me to introduce myself. I am Laeveria Lacerta, and I'll be your demon for the day! I shall be taking your soul now!"

Reaching toward the girl, Laeveria's hands passed straight through her, not harming her at all physically, but latching onto the soul - the emotions, morals, kindness, everything about her that made her human. The contract was signed now, and vanished in a burst of light. There was nigh on naught that could be done, at this point...

Laeveria Lacerta chuckled, as the soul dissipated into the air. It belonged to Satan now, and the power of the devil would keep it for eternity. He did not take kindly to those interfering in his affairs, even those sharing his name, and it was quite likely (though not certain, for Laeveria knew nothing of this 'lucifer'), that there would be no 'getting a new one' to be done.

"Now, allow me to uphold my end of the bargain." she noted, chuckling. The demoness wandered over to Dimitri, sighing. "She is heartbroken, my dear. What do you think?"

Laeveria Lacerta did not remove her hand, but rather used the contact point to do something rather nasty. With superhuman (as she was, after all, beyond human) strength, the demoness pushed her hand forwards, even as she did so forming it into more of a spike than a hand. On a normal human or animal, this action would result in the hand piercing through their back and into their chest, and were this the case Laeveria would grasp onto Dimitri's heart, and attempt to rip it out of him forcefully.

The contract hadn't specified whether the word 'heart' was literal, after all...

Laeveria Lacerta chuckled, tearing out the boy's heart and holding it up in her hand. "Give this back? But my dear, I promised you this. I cannot go back on my word. But then again, I never specified whether it would be intact."

With that, Laeveria crushed her hand inwards, crushing the heart in her hand to a bloody pulp. By this point Dimitri - if a normal human, again - would be well and truly dead, after all; loss of heart, kind of a death sentence even for most supernatural beings.

Dumping the bloody mush that was once a heart, now little more than a pulp, on the floor in front of Roseline, Laeveria chuckled. She honestly didn't care whether Roseline had gotten a replacement soul - she'd already gotten a soul, and thus she was satisfied. Plus, she'd been able to (probably) kill someone in the process!

"If it's all the same to you dear, I'll be leaving now. Toodles." she said, wandering off with utter disregard for the girl's weapon.

Laeveria Lacerta is a nasty, nasty person. And proud of it.
