Description

Lawrence is unremarkable, standing 5 foot 8 and weighing in at 160 pounds. His build is lean but muscular, a result of the intense conditioning he was forced to go through in order to master his latent psychic powers. He has the look of a man in his thirties with graying brown hair who has seen many terrible things all done in the name of some cause or other.

Personality

Lawrence is somewhat of a study in contradictions. When he's got nothing better to do, he's carefree and relaxed. But when he's on a mission, he is all business, caring first about protecting his comrades and second about completing the objectives assigned. Having the authority to call in tactical nuclear strikes tends to weigh on him, though.

Equipment

Lawrence rarely leaves his base without some kind of weapon. When on military duty, he's toting a C-10 Canister Rifle, which offers superior range and devastating damage per hit at the cost of a reduced rate of fire, while wearing a neural-interface suit which magnifies his psionic abilities, turning him into a super-soldier. His superior visual acuity is partly thanks to laser eye surgery and partly to years of practice with shooting at far-away targets. Off-duty, he usually gets by with one of the many civilian makes of pistols.

History

During the civil war that saw the coronation of Emperor Mengsk I as the ruler of all Terrans in the Koprulu Sector, Lawrence distinguished himself by his superior ability to lock down mechanical units, leaving them vulnerable while his comrades stormed in to finish off the helpless enemy unit.

Lawrence Anderson's Story

Lawrence Anderson slips into the bar undetected. From what he has heard, there is another skilled slayer in the midst of those that occupy the establishment at the moment. However, as good as his Personnel Cloaking technology was, it ran out eventually, so he needed a place to rest and recharge his mental batteries, as it were. Moving silently up the stairs, but not all the way to the second floor, he powers down and allows his psychic energy to return.

Lawrence Anderson keeps his personal combat suit on standby mode, ready to drop back into radio silence if he needs to go to stealth mode again. "Ghost Anderson reporting. The target seems to be surrounded by others in the place known as Gambit's Bar. Too many innocents in the vicinity at the moment. Remaining on standby."

Lawrence Anderson silently curses to himself. Despite the target sitting at an unoccupied table, the hustle and bustle of bodies around him meant it was nearly impossible to get off a clear shot.

Lawrence Anderson sighs quietly. He needed a better vantage point, preferably high ground and some distance away. But this guy was smart...he was trying to stay away from windows and other points where a sniper such as himself might get a shot at him. He would simply go after him another time, when he was more vulnerable.

Lawrence Anderson curses at himself again. In that moment of the psycho guy bursting the door off its hinges was the perfect chance to pull the trigger, but his hyperactive danger sense got in the way, and paid attention to the new potential threat just like everyone else in this damn bar.

Lawrence Anderson takes a moment to consider his options. The original target was proving elusive for the time being, but then there was the matter of the man with electrokinesis threatening people. Deciding it was better to take out the bigger threat, the Ghost aims and fires a single precise sniper shot at Dan Bloodline's head, trying to end the fight before it started. After this, hit or miss, he would immediately withdraw into the stairwell and cloak himself.

Lawrence Anderson exits the stairwell, cloaking field active. If his gun's bullets didn't work, perhaps some straight-up martial arts action would. Sneaking up behind Dan Bloodline, the Ghost would attempt a strike with the butt of his sniper rifle at the back of his head, hoping to score a knockout, or at least a stunning blow to end this foolishness.

Lawrence Anderson really wishes he was a Marine at this point, where he could just unload a torrent of Gauss Rifle rounds into this asshole. But his approach was more subtle and relied on the target dropping with the first shot. What to do when that didn't happen, though? The answer was fairly simple: Shoot it again. Still in close range, the Ghost levels his C-10 Canister Rifle while still imperceptible to most biological sensors at Dan Bloodline's forehead and pulls the trigger.

Lawrence Anderson takes the hit, but his personal combat suit gets in the way, reducing the damage considerably and turning what would certainly be a kill shot into something merely annoying. If this kept up, however, he would need a medical officer to tend to his wounds. Scowling at Dan's seeming ability to detect him despite his cloaking field being active, he reloads and tries putting another bullet in the maniac, this time into Dan's left temple, which hopefully isn't as well-protected. The goal of this moving while attacking was to make it seem like he was being set upon by a number of invisible assailants, thus gaining a psychological edge.

Lawrence Anderson dares not try to catch the thrown light bulb, but doesn't want it to break on the floor, either. Compromising, he tries to use his psychic powers to make sure that the thrown bulb hits the floor but doesn't break on impact.

Lawrence Anderson radios in to base. "Echo Base 4, this is Ghost Anderson reporting. Engage primary objective. Send in the Marines, weapons hot."

A dozen troopers in bulky armored spacesuits proceed to file into the bar as if nothing is unusual, before fanning out and pointing their Gauss Rifles at various customers, as if to test their reflexes.

Lawrence Anderson walks in while the Marines do their best to keep the crowd under control. Slowly and deliberately, as if looking for something, he goes around the room before asking the bartender, "I was wondering if you have seen a thief that thinks he's a dragon? Goes by the name of Attor?"

"N-no sir! He was here the other day, but I haven't seen him yet today!"

Lawrence Anderson turns around and walks with purposeful strides towards Naia. "If you're wondering what they're here for, you won't get any info out of them. I'm the one you need to talk to, seeing as I'm the CO of this mission. What do you need, civilian?"

Lawrence Anderson nods as the Marine starts investigating the area behind the bar, in case Attor might be hiding in that area. "Excuse my subordinate's behavior...one can never really tell how an individual person will react to mental reconditioning. Anyway, I would appreciate it if you didn't give my men any more lip."

"Son, if you got wings, you ain't human." An elderly man checked his sniper rifle at the door, got the all-clear, and walked in. He wore a bodysuit with various pieces of technology on it, and a highly sophisticated visor obscured everyone else's view of his face. The suit was sealed against nuclear, biological and chemical attacks, but it wasn't suited for straight-up taking a hit.

Lawrence Anderson was practicing his marksmanship, as he usually did on a slow day. Part of being a sniper meant that he always had to be in top form, never knowing when his number would be called up for duty. 83 points...damn, he was getting a little slow to pull the trigger himself. Time for a break...some nutrient pills, a nice glass of water or two, and it was back to work.

Lawrence Anderson thought it amusing that a kid was shooting about as well as him. "Hey. Not really used to seeing young'uns running about here. Nice job, though...only four points behind me, and I do this stuff for a living." He sighed, lamenting how they wouldn't let him use his canister rifle on the gun range. Of course, it was designed to punch right through a Hydralisk's carapace, let alone a practice target, so it was understandable.

Lawrence Anderson was appreciative of needing to get better for the squad. "Hey, let me show you a trick. It's a little thing I learned in sniper school. Basically, what you do is you aim slightly above your target. The bullet drops as it travels due to gravity, and if you compensate enough, you should be able to make your mark." He demonstrated the technique with his empty hands.
