Description

Image
"Clan" name: Thalionwen Lórómel
Name: Leila Abril
Nicknames: Thali, Wen
Class: Fighter
Profession: Fighter
Gender: Female
Race: High Elf
Alignment: Neutral
Demeanor: Sometimes distant, "Leila" Thaliowen isn't always a nice person. She is never afraid to back herself in a fight, and is fully capable of taking on groups larger then two. Her dual blades spin with deadly efficiency..
Weapon/Magic of Choice: Swords, some fire-based spells
Eye Colour: Brown
Hair Colour: Blonde
Age: 419
Birthmarks or Scars: None
Predominant Features: Pointed, Elf-ears and a tattoo on her forehead
Build: Tall and slim
Skin Quality: Fair, even, soft
General Appearance: Leila is a typical Elven lady when it comes to appearance, being taller than a human woman and having a slim, well-toned body. With delicate, pointed ears it is impossible to hide that she is of Elf-kind, though she finds no reason to attempt such. Her hair is long, reaching down beyond her waist and is a rich blonde color.

Her face is well-rounded, the features soft and delicate much like the rest of her. Leila eyes are a deep brown color, quite a contrast (albeit a complimenting one) with her bright hair. Upon her forehead, in the centre, is an Elvish symbol placed upon her by a great Archmage in her home city. As befits a warrior, she is more than often clad in a specially-forged suit of plate armor, designed to be almost as light as leather but as tough as regularly-forged steel. It is highly decorated with symbols and is amongst her most prized possessions, along with her blades that were gifted to her by her grandfather many years ago. She carries the blades with her everywhere she goes and will not let them out of her sight.

Personality

Influences: A desire to use her strength and power, her quest for the Heart of Vanya*
Likes: fire, other Elves, music, poetry and literature of the great Elvish authors
Dislikes: Dark Elves/Drow, Goblins, Orcs, criminals, liars.
Goals: To find the Heart of Vanya
Strengths: Highly-skilled combatant, fast-mover, strong resolve, passionate about doing the right thing, intelligent and quick-thinking
Habits: Excessively cleaning her battle gear, fiddling with her clothing
Weaknesses or Flaws: Not very 'tough' (can get hurt quite easily), will attempt to help someone even if the odds are heavily against her, suffers great stress when using magic for extended periods
General Personality: A talented musician from the city of Talorhel, Liela is a kind and caring to her friends. Highly-focused, she isn't one to miss much of what's going on around her, especially not if it involves her in some way. Leila is very motivated by her goals and this is clear to see if someone mentions anything that might help her; the Elf will immediately begin trying to extract as much information as possible from that person in order to help her progress.

The Elven lady is very passionate about the things she enjoys, particularly her music and f9re, taking plenty of time to indulge in them whenever she can.

Leila is also a skilled combatant and often finds herself surprised at how much she can enjoy the thrill of a good battle, the adrenaline rushing through her body an oddly pleasurable experience. That does not mean, however, that she goes out looking for fights for fun, as Leila will only fight when it is necessary unless she has entered a fighting contest to hone her skills.

Equipment

Image Leila's main weapons are dual, Elven longswords...NOT machetes. Death and magic runes run up and down the blades of each, as long as wrapping around the handles. The runes are a blend of Latin and Elf...
Her armor.
A book of the dead and a book of the damned.

History

Leila hails from the Dalish (Not to be confused with the Dalish from DA: 2), specifically from a wooden city, Talorhel, like her brother. Desert elves from the south of them were besieged by goblins, orcs, human raiders, and Drow ((all of which she has grown a hatred for)). These elves, after existing within the impenetrable city for generations, spread knowledge of their cultural religion, a blend of worship to the Pharaonic Pantheon and a worship for typical Evlen gods.

Re-Horakhty is the combination of two skygods, Re and Horus. Egyptian religion is a sophisticated and complicated form of polytheism, the belief in many gods. As the religion developed however, it became clear that there was a single unifying deity, and that all other deities are considered to be aspects of this unifying deity. Re is the earliest and most important unifying deity. As Egyptian religion evolves, all other deities are subsumed under Re, a process called syncretism. Another example of syncretism is the New Kingdom "king of gods," Amun-Ra.

The sun god Re, worshipped in Heliopolis, was so important in Egypt that eventually all of the most important deities were assimilated into the worship of Re, each having a place in an intricate mythology and iconography. Horus was initially the god of kingship of the unified Egypt. The kings were mortal manifestations of Horus. They were also known as "sons of Re." By the Twelfth Dynasty, the "son of Re" was appointed "shepherd of the Land" by Horakhty, "Horus on the Horizon." And by the Twenty-First Dynasty, Horakhty was now Re-Horakhty. He is depicted as a king with a falcon head, crowned with a red disc of the sun. He carries the two scepters of kingship, the crook and the flail, thus identifying Re-Horakhty as the ruling king and signifying that the king embodies both Horus and Re.

Re-Horakhty is her main pantheon, god of the sun and all other Egyptian gods. Responsible for carry the sun across the sky during the day and across the underworld at night, Rehora teaches that vigilance and readiness of arms are absolutely necessary.

Born on All Hallow's Eve

They say that Mr. Unlucky, the King of Halloween, favors those born on his day of mischief. His gift to these rascals is a greater understanding of the arcane world. Leila has an innate "sense" about matters of the arcane or supernatural. She can sense magic if it happens nearby, and has a minor resistance to it.

Child or The Raven

A Raven perched on the windowsill when Leila was born. It didn't say "nevermore," but it did give her the ability to look into the past. Leila has the fit of psychometry. Whenever she touches a nonliving thing (including corpses and zombies) and concentrates, she can receive a "vision" about the thing's past.
The vision is often couched in symbolism or puzzles, so don't expect it to solve a mystery for you. It might help her turn up an unfound lead, however.
The vision is always of the most dramatic event in the thing's past, up to a time limit according to her power. The most dramatic event the history of a rock, for example, might be a drop of rain. A blood-soaked rag has a better story to tell.
It isn't pleasant sensing someone else buying the farm. if a Child of the Raven uses this ability on a corpse, the blood, a murder weapon, or other items associated with death, she gets a taste of what it's like to die. When this happens, she runs the risk of hurting herself mentally, spiritually, and physically.
Hathor, similarly, is worshipped by her, depicted as a woman with a cow's head (Beautiful cow, if there ever was one). God of music, dance, art, and inspiration.

Seeking the Heart of Vanya (Elven relic), she and her brother set out and left the city...

Leila Abril walked into Gambit's Bar stretching as she went. She saw her brother and ran up behind him, messing up his hair. "No helmet? What is wrong with you?" She giggled and sat down next to him. She was wearing less armor than usual, with only one sword on her back today. Her hair fell freely at her shoulders.

Leila Abril smiled down at the little girl and glanced from her brother back to the girl. "Saving people again Em?" She raised an eyebrow and pulled her hair back into a long braid. She leaned back in her chair and smiled at the girl. She always wanted a child but never thought she would be someone like that. She didn't see her brother as someone who would put someone before himself but on occasion he did. "Do you know who was chasing her? Just bikers?" She asked suddenly concerned.

smiled and ordered a drink. "Any fun plans today?" She asked glancing up at Em. She took a small sip of her drink and looked around the room quickly. She had a thing about being inside, she liked to know who was in the room and where the exits were.

Leila Abril "Sparring? That might be good. I need to get some anger out." She smiled and cocked her head to the side. "I don't know if I am in a musical mood though. I have had this song stuck in my head but I don't think anything will come from it." She said trailing her finger in a circle on the table.

Leila Abril She smiled and took a sip of the wine. "I hate when you say that. I always feel.. Like your judging me" She laughed and noticed the cloaked figure who walked in. She gave Em a worried look and then focused her attention back to their table. "Is this wine new? Or was I just too out of it to remember it last time?" A smile flickered on her lips.

Leila Abril raised an eyebrow "Well your criticizing sounds an awful lot like judging." She glanced around the room once more noticing more people entering. She took the cup and set it in front of her.

Leila Abril watched him drink his wine. He had a subtle elegance to him, one she wished she had. He always seemed to get the better aspects than her. He was a better fighter, much more elegant and seemed to control his temper more. Unlike her who when her temper got flared her fighting got sloppy, but she was working on that. That and she fought better with him around. She swirled her wine in her glass as her hair fell into her face, shielding her eyes.

Leila Abril glanced up at him. "stuff. You should know by now what I am thinking. We have such a strong connection" she said almost in a whisper. A lot of things were on her mind. It seemed she was more out of it lately, her magic seemed to be slipping in a sense. It was like she knew what she wanted to happen but the words weren't coming the way they used to. She leaned back in the chair and rubbed her face with her arm, feeling her cool armor touch her skin, it gave her a small shiver.

Leila Abril 's face dropped. "I wish. I think I need to start searching through magic again" She said looking up at him. Her eyes flickered, she always loved her magic. "I heard about a spell the other day that would help us out" She said in a hushed voice. She traced an elvish marking on the table with her finger. "I need to look up some references though to make sure I do it right"

Leila Abril looked up at him "yeah. I am not sure what the symbol is. I thought maybe you could help me with that. It seems.. Familiar like I have seen it before but I cant exactly remember what it is from" She said biting the inside of her lip. She drew it again hoping it would spark something in her memory but it failed to do so.

Leila Abril shook her head "maybe? But I haven't been having much luck." She said pulling out a small book from her back pocket. She placed it on the table and started flipping through it. Spells and other scribbles filled the pages. Soon she stopped on a page and showed it to him. She looked up at him.

Leila Abril She leaned over his book and pulled it closer to her. Her lips moved as she read it to herself but she didn't actually speak. She ran a hand through her hair. "It is kind of like that but not exactly. This part" She pointed at a few lines in the middle "Is in it but the rest isn't. Maybe it is one that has a few different ones all mixed in together, thus making it stronger."

Leila Abril smiled up at the man and shrugged her shoulders. If he did anything she would be able to take him out. She motioned to the seat next to her and looked down at the girl again. She ordered a glass of water and handed it to her. "What is your name?" She asked the girl.

Leila Abril rubbed Victoria's back. "It is okay. We will find her don't worry." Her eyes flickered as she looked over at Rihan. She loved kids, yet had no clue what to tell them when they were upset. She bit her lip and took a small sip of her wine. "Drink your water. It will help" She smiled pushing her water closer. The one thing she learned in life, drink water, it will make you stop crying.

Leila Abril was never good at being around so many people. She clenched her hand trying to subside her uneasiness. "We can get you a new bunny. Are you okay though? What did they hurt?" She whispered looking down at the girl. She felt horrible for her, people were so mean. She wished she could just take this girl and keep her safe with every fiber of her being.

Leila Abril pulled the girl into a hug. "Shh. It's okay." She brushed her hair gently with her fingers. She felt the other elf as they entered and looked over at them. She squinted her eyes to get a better look. She didn't know many other elves besides her and her brother. She thought to herself, I must tell Em about them.

Leila put her head down on the table, a sudden migraine overcoming her with all the emotion she was hiding. The piano was slowly calming her down though. She turned rubbed her temples lightly and tried to think what she could do for the girl. As of now all she could do was keep her safe, and if that meant keeping her with her until her mother was found, then that was what would happen. "Would you mind staying with me until we find your mother? I want to make sure you are safe"
