“Oh, I know how that goes…” Ashley replied, nearly derailing the call into unprofessional matters, such as ‘that time of the month.’ “You’re down for tomorrow at 9AM, Ms. Munroe. Mr. Erasmus will see you at Legacy Tower, on the one hundred eleventh floor. Buh-Bye!” The call was ended with Ashley rolling her eyes at the long invitation: ‘One hundred eleventh floor’ was a mouthful.
Ashley cruised back into Leo’s office. She watched him study a few more files. “Tomorrow morning,” She placed a sticky note on his wide-rule desk calendar:
‘9AM, Munroe.’ Leo’s brow furrowed indefinitely at the scribbled note. “And… it’s on my desk, because…?”
“Oh, don’t worry. It’s in your calendar on the computer, too. But, I’m going to be too busy to remind you.”
“Busy with what? You’re supposed to be at your desk, when I’m here.”
“Busy getting your Café Mocha Latte with Caramel Swirls, and…” Ashley’s grin was too devious for her perky features to handle. “…introducing myself to
Ms. Munroe.” The attractive twenty-something bobbed her head facetiously, while bouncing her eyebrows. She turned on her sassy red heels and stepped out of the office to take her place back at the desk.
Leo pinched the bridge of his nose. “Oh Christ…” He continued to review the files of potential clients and investors. “Just… call Terrence. Give him the 411.”
The next morning, at 8:50AM, Ashley was speed walking into the downstairs lobby. She was immediately spotted by the various security personnel who sat at the front-end desk- their eyes were focused intently on her
chic dress, and naturally, her elegant figure. Her attention was spared of their ogling, as she gripped two hot lattes; one of which was handsomely decorated with caramel. The click of her heels echoed throughout the spacious floor, as she made her way to the elevator doors. She jammed her thumb into the button. “C’mon... move.” Each number seemed to take forever to illuminate. She could only hope a steady, burning gaze would make the machine move faster.
The only silver lining she had to look forward to for being late was meeting that gorgeous woman.
