Leo Erasmus

"So many choices..."

0 · 295 views · located in CasDio

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Mr. Crow

Description

  • Name: "To a mortal, let me add the famed baring of Erasmus, last to my first: Leo."
  • Sex: "A male entity, though not bound by the lust of ye feeble minded harlots."
  • Species: "What an interesting thought..."

"Reward and dismissal are my choices. Thine beckon your own heart as a slave to the choices, of which thou make. Lest ye be wary of the roads to which thou take, shall ye be judged by the conception of a god. Those who rule doest tax per every thought thine mind musters. Fathom not a free mind, for it is a choice. Trust not thy spouse, for it leads to a lesser wealth. Care not for a state of peace, for it drives ye lambs to a slaughter. Heed the wisdom of this virtuous tongue. Hear me, once more! My jaws lecture a faith in the choices of all men!"

So begins...

Standing on the air as solid ground, above these tall trees was a man. The firgure of a man, at least. He traipsed about the air in a zig-zag line. The fine, velvet black linen, of which was fringed with gold, had contrasted rays of evening light. Wings, white and black as his very aura, were swooned by the silent tune of the wind in which they swayed.

Suddenly, one of his feet stepped down, and his other foot followed after. It appeared as if the man was stepping down a case of invisible stairs; air stairs, one might call it. An impossible magic to some, though surely not unseen in this varying verse. Looming overhead, a grey shadow, broad in its domain, would sweep over the concluded conflict, of which took place in the forest.

The clapping of hands echoed throughout trees. The being was standing below the branches, now. The blackness of his eyes did not betray the shade of the trees, though so charming was his hair in the golden sunlight.

"You perform with destruction. Very nice. A sure way to develop rivals with similar power." A voice so chilling to the life around it did the animals dwell no longer; countless critters crawled away, rustling whatever brush was near.

"Perhaps mortals are more than what they seem, though. Do inquire what might happen if this destruction was relevant, everyday? The choices they make..." His eyes, such voids of darkness, glanced down at the bodies of the men. "..They always seem to lead to their own destruction." A sadistic chuckle stirred the air, and the glimmering reflection of the grizzly being standing before him had returned to his ebony irises. "What is your purpose here, now? To immaculate this world with destruction, perhaps? I've noticed many have already dealt that hand, and are in a conflict of control. Though, it be no interest of mine. These petty squabbles always reach their end." A hand, clad in the silk of a white glove, toyed with the entertainer's black and white cap; a signal of thought, and curiosity.

“Ashley, get Phinx Munroe on the line. Set-up a meeting.”

“The Invictus? And… Your office or hers?” The young, feisty brunette produced a discerning eye at her boss.

“Yes, Ms. Vaughn, the Invictus.” Then, he took a look at his office, and looked back to the woman. “Do I really have to answer that?”

The man unbuttoned the jacket of his three-piece suit. A meager smirk stretched the corners of his lips. He took his seat in the fine leather chair; a chair fitted to his specifications for maximum comfort, which sat behind a clean, rosewood & steel desk. White letters were etched onto a fog coated panel of glass on the right side of the doorway:

Leo Erasmus

Senior Partner

The secretary smiled brightly, as if she were a fan of the organization. “You’ll be on her personal line.” She called back, as she traipsed back to her own desk, which sat right outside at the front of the executive’s office. A holographic pop-up appeared the moment she hovered her wrist over a small scanner device embedded into the surface of her desk. Suddenly images of small numbers projected in the air, and her delicate fingers tapped each one in a precise manner. A notification screen displayed adjacent of the number pad-‘Calling: Mary Munroe …’

“Ms. Munroe? This is Ashley Vaughn, Mr. Leo Erasmus’ secretary, and I’m calling on behalf of Mr. Erasmus to schedule a date for you to meet with him. Would you like to do that now, or is there a more convenient time?” The woman chirped every syllable with the giddy instinct of any experienced secretary.

Despite her phone ringing Phinx was content with keeping her body submerged in her kind-of-illegal bubble bath because her new apartment didn't allow tubs. That was a dumb rule and bubble baths were great. But, there was a good chance it was an important call.

The Invictus 'vice-president' snatched her phone from where it rested, tapping it's screen before bringing it up to her ear. "Hello?" She answered, listening to Ashley speak about a meeting with some guy named Leo.

Business was more Phinx's thing these days, meeting with this guy would give her something to do now that others were putting more time into the Invictus. Unless of course Leo wanted to experience making love with a half-black Hispanic amazon with tattoos.

That was more Stryfe's style.

"Yeah, sure. Uh... how about... tomorrow? I can be in Solinus City in the morning." Phinx told Ashley, "I'm a little lethargic and busy right now, yadda?"

“Oh, I know how that goes…” Ashley replied, nearly derailing the call into unprofessional matters, such as ‘that time of the month.’ “You’re down for tomorrow at 9AM, Ms. Munroe. Mr. Erasmus will see you at Legacy Tower, on the one hundred eleventh floor. Buh-Bye!” The call was ended with Ashley rolling her eyes at the long invitation: ‘One hundred eleventh floor’ was a mouthful.

Ashley cruised back into Leo’s office. She watched him study a few more files. “Tomorrow morning,” She placed a sticky note on his wide-rule desk calendar: ‘9AM, Munroe.’

Leo’s brow furrowed indefinitely at the scribbled note. “And… it’s on my desk, because…?”

“Oh, don’t worry. It’s in your calendar on the computer, too. But, I’m going to be too busy to remind you.”

“Busy with what? You’re supposed to be at your desk, when I’m here.”

“Busy getting your Café Mocha Latte with Caramel Swirls, and…” Ashley’s grin was too devious for her perky features to handle. “…introducing myself to Ms. Munroe.” The attractive twenty-something bobbed her head facetiously, while bouncing her eyebrows. She turned on her sassy red heels and stepped out of the office to take her place back at the desk.

Leo pinched the bridge of his nose. “Oh Christ…” He continued to review the files of potential clients and investors. “Just… call Terrence. Give him the 411.”

The next morning, at 8:50AM, Ashley was speed walking into the downstairs lobby. She was immediately spotted by the various security personnel who sat at the front-end desk- their eyes were focused intently on her chic dress, and naturally, her elegant figure. Her attention was spared of their ogling, as she gripped two hot lattes; one of which was handsomely decorated with caramel. The click of her heels echoed throughout the spacious floor, as she made her way to the elevator doors. She jammed her thumb into the button. “C’mon... move.” Each number seemed to take forever to illuminate. She could only hope a steady, burning gaze would make the machine move faster.

The only silver lining she had to look forward to for being late was meeting that gorgeous woman.

"Why am I here again?" Viktor asked, following behind Phinx as she marched through the building towards the elevators. "You need to get out and do something. You live with me and you're super depressing." Phinx answeredhopping into an open elevator before tapping a button that displayed the floor she was directed to.

The woman wore black suit pants, a black blazer, and beneath the blazer a purple turtleneck sweater. It was mostly to keep her tattoos covered, but she also liked turtlenecks. Viktor on the other hand was dressed nicely, but his appearance was much more humble than Phinx's own. He wore but a grey suit, though it was expensive overall.

"Who are we meeting?" Viktor asked as he stepped into the elevator. His brown eyes drifting up to the light above as the elevator moved. "Some dude about some stuff." Phinx answered, "Eh... this isn't illegal, si?" Viktor asked, letting his gaze fall on Phinx.

"Nah. It's legit, man. I wouldn't ask you to come along for anything illegal. I know how you feel about it if it's not for the greater good, or whatever." The woman said, "Sometimes you have to go outside of the law to get justice." Viktor told Phinx, "That's how the KKK looked at it when niggas were gettin' hung for looking at white women." Phinx responded.

"It's not always that simple, Vito." Phinx said to her friend as the elevator doors opened, "Come on." She said, leading Viktor out in search of this Leo Erasmus, or at least someone who knew the layout of the building.

A pair of stainless steel elevator doors slid open. Ashley’s leg extended out, the firm muscles of her calf flexed in distress, as she pranced out of the elevator. The woman inhaled and exhaled a deep breath to pace herself. “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming…” Ashley muttered the Disney tune; there were better methods to stay calm in the high-stress environment of a corporate office, but childhood memories remained in the top ten.

The woman was racing over the brittle carpet, shrugging pass each low-end investment analyst. When Birtha, a fellow secretary and peachy, middle aged lady, proceeded to exchange pleasantries with Ashley, the brash young woman ignored her colleague. Birtha, however, placed a hand on her cushioned chest to contain any offensive gestures.

Her lashes batted, and her brow was stern. The thin black pikes of her heels elevated her figure; her hips snapped to and fro. Every wandering eye examined this furious stag of a woman, as she bee-lined toward Leo’s office door. Moments before Ashley could reach her desk, she brushed shoulders with the favorite icon of her generation, and generations to come: Phinx Munroe.

“Oh my God!” Ashley Vaughn’s eyes augmented at the sight of Ms. Munroe and the woman’s key colored turtle neck. Her cheeks quaked and flushed with excitement, as she smiled. “Y-You must be Ms. Munroe!” Her first instinct was to hug the stylish Invictus leader, but she quickly realized the two lattes would spill in this endeavor. “My God! I’m a really, really big fan!”

Viktor was all but a silhouette to the raving secretary.

"Yeah, whatever. I'm looking for a dude named Leo Razzamatazz, or Ramses, or something." Phinx told Ashley, turning her attention towards the tarstruck secretary. "Think you could point me in his direction, chica?" The woman asked, "You seem to know who I am so I'm guessing you're his assistant that he dips into when his wife isn't around."

"Guardate come lei è entusiasta di vederti. Penso che lei potrebbe essere in donne. Forbice di tempo, sì?" Viktor said to Phinx, "Probably." Phinx responded, "Oh, this is my best friend, Viktor. He's Italian, vaguely metrosexual and he'll be keeping you company." Phinx said to Ashley, "At least until I'm done talking to Leon."

"Leo." Viktor corrected Phinx, "Yeah, him." Phinx said.

Ashley's brow arched in defiance of Phinx's assumption of her relationship with a head executive. "No-" She was too flustered to continue this meet-and-greet gracefully. The leading member of the Invictus had barraged Ashley's wall of bliss with one snappy reply after another.

She treated Viktor's foreign tongue as white noise; Ashley Vaughn didn't extend her roots to any lands outside the office. The woman slowly nodded at the expulsion of language, and the introduction after it. "A pleasure," She cast a voracious eye at Viktor. Her following smile locked her jaw tightly to conceal the radiating irritation. The interest of his company was not mutual.

"Just follow me," Ashley aligned herself to her desk, before setting one of the coffee's down. She promoted her steps to the entrance of Leo's office door. "Mr. Erasmus," She pronounced each syllable of the name clearly for his visitors. "It's your 9 o' clock, and..."

Leo, dressed in a bronze-tone, pin-stripe suit, rose from his desk to meet Phinx at the middle of the room. "Ms. Munroe," He lightly exclaimed. "C'mon in." With a subtle hint, Leo denied the latte. Ashley's eyes glazed over, and she took her place back at her desk; the woman immediately brushed by Viktor without a second thought. The young woman eased into the small swivel chair, as its seating seemed to perfectly fit the narrow outline of her hips. Once more, she swiped her wrist over the scanner constructed in the surface of the desk, and a holographic touchscreen displayed at the center of her workspace. Ashley frowned at the result of her first time meeting with Phinx,. However, she maintained focus on her work, attempting to disregard Viktor's presence.

Leo extended his arm, a large smile on his face, to shake hands with his guest. "Have nice trip? Big breakfast?"

"They were out of airline peanuts on the way here, but it was nice." Phinx joked, taking Leo's hand in her own. She glanced back at Viktor, giving him a nod that would result in him staying near Ashley and turning his attention away from the meeting.

The Italian private eye was basically serving as Phinx's bodyguard, he didn't mind that. But, there more fun things than standing around in an office building for hours.

"What is it you wanted to discuss exactly?" Phinx asked Leo, "And you can call me Mary, by the way." She told the man. "Ms. Munroe forces me to accept the reality that I've grown up and went somewhere in life. I want to be a kid foreve." The Invictus leader joked, moving to take a seat in front of Leo's desk.

"You wouldn't be calling me here if it wasn't to profit. I know how this works."

Gabriel Ereb Gabriel Ereb - wealthy entrepreneur, savvy businessman, and genius inventor - and his bodyguard Captain Agares Narkel, the first of the Ereb Alpha Troopers, traveled through CasDio in a lavish limousine. Agares was like a statue, solid, silent, and intimidating, in his cybernetic suit and tinted helmet. He kept a careful watch on all his sensors as the duo made their way across the city.

"Agares, my boy..." Mr. Ereb looked up from his tablet and eyed the trooper from behind a pair of reading glasses. "This is the start of an excellent chapter for our enterprise. I have a feeling the new building will serve us well for some time - especially with these new deals being formulated with the Terra Novans."

"Yes, sir." Agares replied with his normal enthusiasm.

"Perhaps we can expand the Alpha Trooper program while we're at it... Offer a pension plan for retired or disabled veterans that want to get back into the fight. So many possibilities..."
