a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Order Knight

Description

Legionnaire Mercenary Organization Member:

Name: Leos Klein
Code Name & Number: "Strung" 08
Class & Rank: Experimental Weapons Specialist, Colonel

Age: 59
Gender: Male
Physical Characteristics: Leos Klein is six-foot-two, and weighs roughly two hundred twenty four pounds. He has a fairly slim build, but due to the nature of his past job experience, he is still fairly well toned despite his age. His skin has an olive color to it, and his trimmed hair is a dim, dark gray. His body is gnarled and scarred with the marks of his previous missions, of which he boasts over three hundred- and nearly a one hundred percent success rate.
Mental Characteristics: Klein is a brilliant tactician and strategist, as well as a vocal squad leader. As he climbed through the ranks of the LMO, he proved time and time again that his skills in leadership would lead to greater things. However, his mind has also deteriorated greatly; being one of the few crazy enough to get four Neurological implants, Klein's mind and body have become overstimulated on a daily basis. It's only a matter of time until he snaps, a fact that his superiors keep a close eye on him for, and one that he is well aware of himself.
Advantages: Strengthened abilities by way of Implants, tactical and strategic abilities, charismatic leadership.
Disabilities: Age is beginning to show despite the implants, and when they are off he is likened to a crippled old man. His mind too is deteriorating.

Military Background: Strung has been a member of several paramilitaries around the globe, and a few official armies. His first official assignment was in the US Army at the age of nineteen, where he served for three years before leaving the country. He became a Russian citizen later in life and hopped around various mercenary and bounty hunting organizations before settling his way into the Russian Spetsnaz. Spending another five years as a member of that organization, he once again left the country to join and subsequently leave various mercenary groups and paramilitaries around the world, gathering a small following of loyal men and women that he began calling the Frighteners. Upon joining the Legion Mercenary Organization, his Frighteners have dispersed into various areas, largely disappearing from the radar- all save for Klein, who openly remains a member.

Civilian Background: Klein has scarcely been a 'civilian.' He was born in central America, and his family quickly moved to North America following a governmental dispute in their home country. His father worked long hours to keep his family afloat, and eventually decided he could not take it anymore and left them. His mother committed suicide when he was twelve, and he was forced to live off the streets and seek work to pay for his meager education and citizenship until he was old enough to enlist in the US Army.

Job History: Worked various small jobs until he was able to join the military. He has been a soldier ever since.

LMO Assignment History: A full LMO record can be provided by request.

Known Skills: Leadership and large battlefield command. He was a good shot before his over-use of implants, which he now relies on for combat- these however are powerful implants that increase his skills exponentially.

Armor: Powered Armor; CS-89

Leos Klein's Story

Leos Klein wanders into the bar, a cloaked specter. He does not look to the other patrons, and barely acknowledges them if they greet him- he simply walks in and places a poster on the wall. Peering around warily, he leaves soon after.

Leos Klein walks back into the bar, a brooding expression on his face. He looks around at the would-be masses and walks back over to his poster, as if checking it for any tampering.

Leos Klein sees nothing immediately concerning, and loosens up slightly. His expression remains roughly the same however, and he turns to the rest of the bar. He was a man of middling age, short gray hair and a weathered face, with his brown eyes glancing over each individual he cared to look at.

Leos Klein takes his pistol out idly- it was a standard slug shooter, a bit larger than an average magnum- horribly impractical. He checks the clip, pulls back the hammer and slides it back into its holster, cocked.

Leos Klein looks around the bar again, this time taking out a combat knife- it too was fairly large, though not unreasonably so. He thumbs it idly as he continues looking around, and eventually starts shaving off some of his ample supply of chin hairs.

Leos Klein finally decides to move. Like a dog to an uncomfortable human, he seemed drawn to the weariness and unease of the three sitting near the bar- namely, Reis, Midnight, and Shen. He had finished shaving, though he keeps his knife in hand, flipping it over his fingers expertly as he approached.

Leos Klein looks back at Reis, though does not return the smile. Rather, he grimaces at the sight. Adjusting his head to look at the snarling thing, he stops flipping his knife around- letting it rest on top of his knuckles. Seeing the attack that was obviously on its way, he steps to the side with surprising swiftness, not akin to a normal human. He smirks at this, making a disdainful noise.

Leos Klein looks towards the other two, who had reacted more calmly to his presence- a smug grin as he speaks. "Cute kid." His voice was surprisingly smooth, considering his rough appearance. He looks back to Shen, his grin wiped away. "A man is entitled to defend himself, child. Just as you have proven," he adds, almost approvingly, while still managing to sound condescending. He looks towards Reis as he too speaks, flipping his knife over his fingers again. "If your ability to defend yourself is removed, what do you have left that cannot be equally and so easily removed?" His soft, pronounced voice was almost hypnotizing, if they let themselves be drawn in. Nevertheless, he flips the knife into the air and catches it by the hilt, stabbing it quickly up into its sheath on his chest. "You would do well to not react with so much hostility."

Leos Klein gives Reis a cold look. "Were that it was true," he responds simply, "I would not have been a soldier for my life. His eye flicks back towards the sudden release of energy, dropping to the floor to avoid it, and drawing his previously cocked pistol- but he does not fire.

Leos Klein stands, still aiming at the younger creature. He glances to Reis and lowers his pistol, scowling. "I have not fought at all- fortunately for us all." He raises his gun to look at it sidelong, pointing it at the ceiling. "This is designed to crack Core seals," he adds unremarkably. "Very expensive ammunition."

Leos Klein looks down at the boy, his face unchanged. "It is a shame that rage and the desire for destruction seeds itself, even in those so young." His eyes show a sadness that does not come across on his tone. "This is why..." he stops himself, shaking his head slowly.

Leos Klein begins to chuckle slightly. "Such needless fury... but we all make mistakes. Don't you think," he adds questioningly. "All that I've wanted to do is to revive the ways of old. Is that such a crime, child?"

Leos Klein chuckles a little more, seemingly unconcerned with the destruction around him. Managing to keep his footing, he simply observes now- it was long out of his hands, the creature wanting nothing more than wanton destruction.

Leos Klein makes sure not to stand in the line of fire, holstering his pistol and sitting down. He was mostly neutral to the shield appearing around himself- obviously, whatever was projecting it knew more about this light show than he did. Still, he observed with the curiosity and amusement of an overly mature child.

Leos Klein sits calmly amidst the destruction- in no small part thanks to the unrequested protection. As the dazzling explosion comes to a finish, he would be found clapping on his stool. "Way to go out with a bang," he remarks, regardless if the child had killed himself or not. He didn't particularly care- he had a first row seat to a rather impressive show, something he was somewhat accustomed to, from his line of work.

Leos Klein presumed the shield to be gone- or perhaps he was allowed to move with it on- and walks over to Reis and Midnight. He glances sidelong at Shen as he walks, fingering the hilt of his knife. He waited for them to acknowledge him, curious as to what parts of blame he might receive.

Leos Klein chuckles simply in response, waving to Midnight as she waves to him, presumably bidding him off. With little other purpose here, he gives the child one final look, tapping his pistol meaningfully in its holster. He peers back at Reis. "Assuming you allow him to live, you can let him know he's proven himself," he says with no small amount of condescension. Still, like all that he had said thus far, there was some truth behind it.

Leos Klein quirks a brow. "I don't believe I 'fucked' with any of you tonight, aside from approaching you readily armed- which I did preparatory, should any of you choose to attack me." He gestures meaningfully at Shen. "It happens often enough that I choose to be prepared, come ill or well." With that said however, he continues on in his natural, smooth voice. "Aside from being slightly well done, I am fine."

Leos Klein simply stands where he was as the man disappears, tapping his pistol yet again- perhaps something of a nervous tick. Regardless, he turns towards Shen and Rage, curious more than anything. The young one had awoken, and was now being catered to by... someone. A Godfather, perhaps? Who knew? And who cared, furthermore. He walks over interestedly all the same.

Leos Klein follows the child quietly, though doesn't actively try to be unnoticed. As the boy seats himself, Leos simply looks down at him, neither approvingly or disapprovingly.

Leos Klein quirks his lip into a smirk. "What's the matter, rookie," he asks accusingly. "Didn't manage to kill anyone with your show of force?" He walks across from him, sitting opposite in the booth- apparently a bit pained by the process, judging by the faint change in his face.

Leos Klein snickers and lays a large, gnarled hand on the table. "Relax, kid. Stress won't help you any more than blowing up."

Leos Klein nods, obviously not sugar-coating anything on the boy's behalf. "You could have. You probably did, even," he suggests, gesturing at the rest of the Bar with his other hand. "An enclosed explosion with only a select few individuals protected is likely to cause some collateral," he remarks. Then he leans forward, looking intensely at the boy with his brown eyes. "But do you even know why you did that?"

Leos Klein nods. "Then tell me." His voice was still soothing, smooth, and calm, despite whatever he was saying.

Leos Klein laughs softly, taking his combat knife out of its sheath halfway. "What, this?" He asks, almost incredulously. "It's a combat knife. I'm a merc, kid. I don't hunt animals. I hunt humanoids." He speaks with a callous honesty that somehow doesn't fit with his voice. He fully sheaths the knife again.
