Image
Name: Lexi Holton
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female
Height: 5’ 6’’
Race: Unknown (to her and others)
Complexion/Skin color: White, milky, almost transparent
Body type: slight, with some muscle tone
Hair color/ style: Black, choppy, ear-length
Eye color : light lavender
Distinguishing features: Three piercings in her right ear, four in the left. Her forearms are covered with small, intricate runic tattoos. One tattoo across her shoulder blades reads ā€˜REMEMBER’.

Lexi Holton has gone by hundreds of names in her … many lifetimes. The girl is an Eternal, a person who reincarnates after each incident of her death. She’s unaware of this ability she has, and is only reminded of memories of her past lives in her dreams. She doesn’t know what the purpose of this ability is, and is only acutely aware of her vivid nightmares, and the fact that she can see things most other people can’t. There is an odd, dark group of people who pursue her for her memories, though for a while she remains unaware that they’re after her, and wouldn’t have any idea what they were looking for in the first place.

So begins...

The door to Gambits bar opened, its entryway only partially obscured by a slight figure in a dusty grey hoody. Her jeans were well-worn, washed out, and covered in writings and symbols that were just about as faded as the fabric she wore. The hood of her jacket had fallen back over her shoulders, revealing a slender, heart-shaped face, forehead shadowed by choppy black bangs and nearly obscuring her strange, lavender-shaded eyes.

She gave the bar a quick scan, lips pulled into a thoughtful frown as she slipped her hands into the pockets of her jeans. As she turned her head from side to side, her black hair flopped around her cheeks, barely reaching past the lobes of her heavily – pierced ears.

She appeared comfortable, if not withdrawn, and she wordlessly walked over to the bar counter, observing one of the screens with a clinical gaze. Not the first computer she’d seen, but the set-up of the facility was a little different.

ā€œSoā€¦ā€ she mumbled, removing one of her hands from her pocket and poking the touch-screen to test it. A menu popped up. ā€œAh, kidding.ā€ Her face relaxed into an easy smile.

Quite pleased with her minor success at attempting to figure out the menu options, Lexi found herself suddenly without a tool to fiddle with. The obnoxiously pretty platinum blonde (okay, so she was a little jaded about hair color), had inserted herself into the woman’s personal space, shifted the menu, then pointedly asked if Lexi wanted anything.

Well, no shit Sherlock! That’s why she was trying to figure out the menu! Of course, none of these things came to the girl’s lips. Her lavender eyes flashed with something a little more volatile than annoyance, but she offered a simple shrug and leaned her elbow on the counter. ā€œI was going to get a coke.ā€ She reached for the menu and obstinately flipped it back around to face her.

ā€œAnd I’m not confused. I had it all figured out.ā€ She mumbled as her head bent over the screen.

Her shoulders went rigid. So the girl could read minds huh? Either that, or guess really really well. ā€œSome people would consider it really rude to get into other people’s heads. I would have just told you my name if you’d asked me.ā€

The angry look in her eye was unmasked. The girl didn’t look a day over eighteen, but there was something distinctly ancient about her eyes. Eyes that had seen far too much for someone so young. They shifted then, to Makeshift, and narrowed ever so slightly.

ā€œThe old ones never really know to mind their own business either.ā€ She said pointedly, pulling back from the bar counter and crossing her arms over her chest. The sleeves slipped up, revealing a littering of small, runic tattoos that extended from her pale wrist on up underneath the sleeve.

She kinda felt bad for making the other girl angry, but the fact that the girl Leila was being just as immature as she had been wasn’t helping Lexi be more on the forgiving side. ā€œI’d rather just figure things out for myself, that’s all.ā€ She said rather lamely, lifting a hand and rubbing at her eyes tiredly. She didn’t have the energy to be pissy. It wasn’t in her nature. Defensive? Maybe.

ā€œUm..ā€ Well, so much for conversation. She’d botched that opportunity.

She watched Makeshift, her eyes resting on his folder with mild curiosity pulling at her. How odd. He studied anatomies of humanoid creatures? She sat back and pulled her legs up to balance on the bar stool.

The sudden appearance of the chimeara on a chair near to her made her jump in surprise. She flailed briefly to catch her balance, staring up at the creature with wide eyes. Odd…definitely odd. He looked like he was on his way to a Halloween party…

Lexi's lavender eyes rose to meet the strange gaze of the creature who now loomed above her. There were several things that were odd about this conversation. One, the fact that he was standing on a chair. Two, the fact that he looked like something out of a Doctor Seuss book, and Three, the fact that she was about to start a rather amiable conversation with him.

The pretty platinum elf hadn't been so courteous. "It's okay.." she began with a growing smile. Unsure if she was to offer her hand, she turned, her head tilted back as she looked up at him, and mildly shrugged her shoulders. "You surprised me, that's all."

"Sure," she said, taking the glass graciously and peering down into the warm-coloured liquid. She wasn't a big drinker, but she didn't mind a glass every now and then. She set the rim of the glass to her lips and took a sip, squinting slightly as the fluid burned the back of her throat. "Thank you." she managed, her voice a bit rough. She set the glass off to the side and cleared her throat. "So, um...Do you mind if I ask you your name?"

"This stuff's okay." Lexi replied, glancing at the glass and then back at Oren. "I'm Lexi Holton."

As it turned out, she'd had a lot of names in her existence, but this one, as well as the identity of an eighteen year old girl, was the only one she knew of. It had never crossed the girl's mind, and realistically such a thought would be quite disturbing, not to mention confusing.

The appearance, and tumble, of Braxgar drew her curious stare for a moment or more before looking back over at Oren. "Do you come here often?" she asked.

With a backpack at her feet, and a loose, dusty grey hoody resting on her slight frame, the young woman had her feet drawn up, sitting on her ankles Indian-style with her head bent over her hands. She appeared to be picking at a hang-nail, observing the injury with mild disgust when she noticed a spot of blood developing at the tip of the wound. Her black hair hung over her forehead, nearly obscuring her lavender eyes to the curious passerby. She paid them no mind, mumbling something under her breath before hissing in a breath and obstinately popping the offending digit into her mouth.

The park was growing dull with lengthening shadows, most outdoorsy types having retreated indoors for the evening. She would not follow them. In this strange place, she had no home. It was by sheer luck that she’d managed to find a spot that wasn’t occupied by other people in the first place.

While he hadn’t noticed her, she had noticed him, and what she saw made her eyes practically bug out of her head. She stared at him, her heart beating rapidly in her chest as she slowly reached for her bookbag and drew it up into her lap. From this distance, she could see that he wasn’t holding anything to produce the flame. No. The flame appeared to be coming from his skin.

She was too nervous to mention something about the trees and the potential for starting some serious trouble. Anyone who could conjure fire at will was probably not someone who would like to be surprised…or pissed off. So she slowly, tentatively attempted to stand, not realizing that she had her bag upside down…and unzipped. The few contents of her carry-along dumped onto the ground with a clatter, and she hastily attempted to scoop it all back up into the bag before the young man inevitably noticed.

Shit. He stopped. He saw me. She met his eyes hesitantly, barely able to make a feasible smile in return as she gathered her things and zipped up her bookbag. "Look, I don't want any trouble. I'll leave you alone to keep doing your fire dancing thing okay?" She slipped the bag on over her shoulders, trying hard not to breath through her nose. The perfumed scent she caught in the air wasn't coming from him, but from something else, and it generally meant she needed to move out, and fast.

She stumbled back a step, falling against the bench hard. She felt a dull ache in her shoulders and knew she was going to bruise. "Dude, seriously!" she half-shouted. "Enough with the fire! Just let me go, okay? I won't tell people about that alright? I can keep a secret." She was staring at his hands, eyes wide in her face. The smell was growing stronger.

"I can't stay here," she said under her breath, looking around hastily for something, anything she could defend herself with.

Ok, so he was obviously crazy. Crazy and quite proud of his tricks. She was crazy too, but in a very different sense. "I'm proud of you for that, really." She stood and stepped around the bench, looking up at the tree as if it could deliver her from whatever danger might befall her. "But there's this...thing. I need to scoot, so..."

Ah, but it was already too late wasn't it?

They materialized out of nowhere, melding from shadow and standing at a slight distance, as if unsure of the young man who stood nearby. Lexi was frozen, one hand on the tree, the other balled in a fist at her side. Her eyes were wide and hard, and she looked like she was going to be sick. "Great," she mumbled. "Just...just great." The figures, all of them hooded and cloaked, spoke as one.

Forgive us our tresspasses!

"You think I know?!" she shouted back. If he knew what was good for him, then he'd get his ass high on up out of there. Dammitall. If she ran without him, they'd kill him, yet if she ran with him, then he might kill her!

"Here, oh, ugh, crap, put out your hands!" She ran for him just as the figures began to lurch for the pair.

He was running? From a girl? How brave of him, she thought dryly. She reached into her pocket, whipping out a stone she clenched firmly in her hand. The fire she knew wouldn't do anything to these guys. Indeed, they seemed to absorb it like sponges, and much to her surprise and horror, they grew just a little larger.

Muttering something under her breath, the girl disappeared entirely, suddenly reappearing in front of Corey as if out of thin air. "That isn't helping!" she shouted at him. She grabbed his elbow and gripped that stone again. "Don't move, or those things will kill you." she snapped in case he struggled.

All was quiet. The bar itself was staffed by quiet, cheerful-looking robots who busily polished the unoccupied tables, adjusting and readjusting the tableclothes in an obsessive fashion. One girl had taken up a single booth toward the back, the hood pulled up over her eyes as her face relaxed in the mask of sleep. She was twitching occasionally, slight moans breaking the silence and causing the bots to halt, but they soon returned to their routine, and the girl continued to sleep.

A light 'pop', followed by a sudden shift in the air pressure within the walls of the fortified Gambits bar, preceded the rather sudden appearance of a slight figure clad in jeans and a dusty grey hoodie. The hood was back, revealing a woman of not much more than seventeen, with short, choppy black hair and light lavender eyes. She clutched a smooth stone in her hand, the other reaching up to pull on her heavily pierced ear. It was a habit of anxiety. She'd used the stone without any real idea of where she'd end up.

Well, yippee. Smack dab in the middle of a bar. Couldn't do better than that, hmm?

"While I'm here..." she said thoughtfully, skirting the biker crew and making her way to the bar. "May as well get something."
