Home? Nat? Instinctively, as Liam heard the noise behind him, fading worry making him try and turn from Talmara to see what was going on. Unfortunately, he was suffering from the same lack of experience with both hypnotism and danger.

Maybe if he got out of this, he'd listen to the lectures. Maybe. For now, he felt his body stiffening and his expression showed fright as he went rigid, emotion fading from his features as he fell forward, eyes finally seeing Tessa in Layla's arms.

He would have cried out had he been able.

The last thing he remembered being terribly aware of was Tessa held in the arms of the 'injured' woman. It had filled him with panic and did so now as he came around, unnerved by the darkness that encapsulated him.

He had roused barely moments after the voices had died down and sat very still, conscious of his state and not liking it one bit. He didn't dare speak, reaching with a hand to see if he could ascertain what was around him.

It smelt earthy. Outdoors?

Dare he speak, see if Tessa was about? Instead, he reached out a bit further, hoping to find her unconscious form beside him.

Although Liam couldn't have known how small the area they were within was, the pain-filled sound that came from his left immediately alerted the fledgling sorcerer to two things. One, Tessa was with him and the second; she was in agony.

“Tess!” he murmured, crawling over carefully until he nudged into her, caring not for their circumstance, wrapping his arms around her shoulders, just holding her gently. “I'm here; whatever it is... I'm here alright? You're not alone.”

Liam's eyes didn't leave Tessa's face the entire time, worry etched into his pale features, barely able to see her in the almost limitless darkness. She didn't make any more sound though whether that was a blessing or curse he would never know.

Instead, he held her in his arms the entire time, cradling her exhausted body in his arms, instantly loathing whomever had caused her this agony. It seemed like much longer than ten minutes before his friend relaxed into his arms. “Tess?” he whispered softly and upon getting no reply, assuming she wasn't conscious.

He got himself as comfortable as she could, kneeling with her leant carefully in front of him, so she could rest.

Liam simply stared at the pile of clothes for a moment, stunned as the shed door slid shut again. From the glimpse he had caught of the offering for the short time the door was open, he had been able to tell that the clothes weren't in great condition.

But, it was certainly better than freezing his arse off in Gods only knew where. Thus, he gently lowered Tessa to the ground, using her little pile of cloth as a pillow for her head in lieu of the hard floor.

They smelt a bit, but the washed out trousers and shirt he put on without complaint, feeling infinitely more safe, even if he was anything but. Solemnly, he sat down cross-legged, waiting for Tessa to come around.

That name... he had heard it murmured a few times. It was... Tessa's old instructor, he was positive. “I'm here,” he replied, relief finally relaxing the tension in his body. Then he fell silent as he carefully listened to sounds of dressing. He would respect her boundaries now that she seemed to be awake and aware now.

All that screaming had unnerved him thoroughly, not that he'd ever admit it. “I'm right in front of you Tess. How are you feeling?”

Liam shuffled a bit closer to her, hesitantly reaching out to wrap an arm around her shoulders if allowed. He was lucky that it was dark; she couldn't see the panic etched so clearly on his features as he spoke with unfailing confidence. “Yeah, yeah. A bit roughed up, but I'm doing alright.”

He looked around, frowning. There wasn't even a damn jug of water to help ease the burning of Tessa's throat; he could hear the roughness to her normally soft voice. He swallowed a sob at her despair, grinning weakly as he squeezed her shoulders with his arm. “Tess... it's not your fault! How could you even think that?”

“Tess, when do you ever listen to me? I came with you anyway because we have fun together. This is... just another adventure.”

He chuckled, letting her slip from his grip, focusing on his own analogy. It made Liam just a little less terrified.

Her questioning made the teenager glance around the darkness, shrugging even if she couldn't see it. “I know we're in a small place from when the door opened but other than that, I figured we could do that together after you woke up again.”

The walls? Liam glanced blindly in the direction Tessa had fallen from earlier, expression grim. Dark magic? Did he remember glimpsing runes when the light came in earlier? No, but then, he hadn't been looking for them.

He had been decidedly more concerned with whoever was coming through and whether he could sift through his panic to blast them away. Theory with casting fireballs was enough, right?

“I can remember spells; good memory,” he replied, tapping his forehead as he stretched out his other hand in front of him, feeling stupid for not thinking of this earlier.

He muttered one of the simplest and infinitely useful spells, a little ball of light forming in his hand. It was dim, but enough that he could see her and their immediate vicinity. “Ah, that's better.”

Studious Tessa? No, he grinned at her, that didn't happen. “Okay; duly noted,” he replied, lowering it so the ball hovered between them, lending its ability to their sight without blinding them. At her query, Liam came back from his thoughts, whatever they were, taking a good look at the wall's etchings.

They looked complicated, carefully drawn... purposeful. Powerful, dark magic that even he could sense as his fingertips hovering near its surface, pulling his hand away quickly, mindful of Tessa's warning.

“It feels... unfamiliar. It's not the work of animals, nor basic spells.” He looked frustrated for a moment, clenching his free hand. “Who would kidnap us Tess? Really?”
