Good grief. Just what I need. Smarter bad guys, and less competent agents ...
Appearance: Coming from good Dutch stock, Liesha is tall, blonde-haired and blue-eyed. She's pretty, but the demands of her job have worn at her both physically and emotionally.
As she has little time to worry about hair, Liesha is usually seen with her sleek, silky tresses lashed hastily into tight braids. With her lips usually pursed in disapproval and her eyes hardened from the cynical things of law enforcement, Liesha appears far older than her years.
Personality: Liesha bustles through her day wielding caustic wit and cutting disapproval like Swords of Truth. She's acerbic, brusque - set firm in what she believes, stubborn to the point of danger. She has a short temper not helped at all by chronic ghost-pains in her leg from a childhood injury. Liesha has very little patience for co-workers, friends, enemies, even herself.
Really, guys? This is your solution?
These standards come from necessity, however. With an entire office of agents waiting on her call, Liesha has little room for error. She's been known to throw herself completely into cases, bending arms and rules to achieve an end. To her, justice isn't just an intellectual exercise. She views it as something tangible that can be readily achieved - through force, if need be.
Predictably, there's not much to say about Liesha's social life. When she's not actually at the office or on the scene, she's at home pouring over casefiles. Her job is her life; she loves it and hates it.
Equipment/Abilities: Liesha has a fiery arsenal of both spells and verbal darts at her disposal. Her proficiency as a witch aside, she also carries a 10 millimeter pistol, and has a decent boxing stance. For better or for worse, she's quicker to reach for the gun than her wand.
A childhood accident left Liesha with both permanent nerve pain in her left leg, and a curious healing ability. Any broken bones or lacerations mend instantly, as though they hadn't ever happened - except the pain never fully goes away. Liesha suspects it simply displaces itself and continues to dwell in her leg. It leaves her with a pronounced limp at all times. This only adds to her cheerful demeanor.
History: Liesha was born and raised in Akron, Ohio as the youngest (and only girl) in a tight-knit brood of five. Midwest wizardry is about as exciting as it sounds and she wasted no time graduating from the Crossed Wands University with a discipline in combat magic.
From there it wasn't too long until she took her basic training at the SCD Academy, intending all along to become a field agent. Despite nearly failing the written part of her finals, Liesha embarked on her magical law enforcement career, stationed first in Chicago with the Victim Assistance squad.
Needless to say, Liesha's bedside manner wasn't terribly award-winning, but despite a rocky start she established a name for herself there in the Windy City. The SCD administration took note of Liesha's shrewd decision-making and thought that her methodology could be used elsewhere; as malicious magical activity increases, so does the need for capable and whips-smart leaders. Having readily proved herself in that regard, Liesha was out of Chicago within a year and off to greener, more dangerous pastures.
In the mid 2000's she obtained a position as Special Agent in the NY Field Office, working with the Violent Crimes squad. There were dual motives behind this assignment. It gave the young agent more to do, more bad guys to catch, but also kept her under the watchful eye of SCD Director Miles Frost, a fact Liesha both lamented and lambasted. Despite butting heads a few times with her commanding officer, Liesha grew into a valued agent with more collars to her name than many agents twice her age.
After the unfortunate demise of her partner, Ignitor Officer Jack Calumet, Liesha was bundled up with a sudden promotion, and sent across the country. It smelled faintly like a cover-up (Calumet's body was never found) but the job was a coveted one. Liesha Kennicot was now the Special Agent in Charge of the LA Field Office - head honcho of the Major Cases Squad.
From there, Liesha's canon has taken her to becoming the youngest SCD Director in history. Her ideals never changed, even if her method of execution did. She's slowly matured and toned down over her ten-year period with the SCD - but her leg continues to give her problems, and probably always will.
