Lolanthe doesn't remember much about who her parents were and where she came from. She was dropped off at the library when she was three years old and taken in by the librarian at the time, Jamie Gelberman. She lived with her husband, George Gelberman, and her son, Dexter Gelberman, at the top the library where there was a two bedroom apartment.

Lolanthe grew to love books. She learned to read early in age and even surpassed her brother's, who is five years older, reading level. At age 10 she found out she had abilities. First it was the Fire Manipulation. She was having a heated argument with her brother about genre of books and which were more important when her hands caught on fire and didn't burn them. Three years later she found out that she could bring books to life after one rainy day she was in her room, about to fall asleep, when a book she was reading came to life. The characters and setting filled her room.

Now at the age of twenty her parents have retired and moved out of Wing City, due to the violence, and into a city far away. They left the care of the library to her and her brother.

So begins...

Lolanthe looked up from her book to see who had came in. Just a man looking for some books. She huffed softly and made herself comfortable in her seat that sat on the second floor over looking the rest of the library. It had been sometime since a patron had talked to her more than just where to find a book and her brother was out of town, so she was all alone.

"Lets see here...Wing City Map..." A man in a red uniform spoke as he held onto a paper map of the city trying to look for a specific location. "Lets see...Huge Gate...Police department...Big statue...Library...Massive vehicle fa---oh wait I was looking for the library." He hit his head as he stuffed the map in his pocket and after wandering around eventually stood of the muli-story building.

With his cheerful grin, he stuffed his hands into the pocket and walked into the very spacious library. That good old book smell, he wondered...does his book still exist after all this time? He was quite curious, hit seller back in his early years. His adventures with his partner...those were good times...explosions, massive battles, and epic encounters that only happens in books.

Question was...where would such a book be? Sci-fi? History? Bibliography? Actually...he should ask the librarian of this place. Make his search so much easier. Walking up to the counter, he cleared his throat. "Yo, got a book known as 'The chronicles of Spaniard and Russian' in stock? Should be...Mid 2,000's. Full of action of real life events put on paper." The man asked the Librarian.

She heard the bell at the door chime before she saw the man. Her left eyebrow went up. Rude much? Not even a simple hello, how are you, or please. Closing her book she slide off the seat she was on and dusted off her dress before she made her way to the stairs. The name sounded a bit familiar, but she was sure she could find it. Not that she wanted to, him being rude and all, but she had met far ruder people and wasn't sort of happy someone came.

She slide behind the desk where a computer was installed, thanks to her brother. He said the system would do wonders and he was right, though she did miss her old fashion catalog system. The sound of typing filled the silent library. It had been rather empty since her parents moved out. Seconds later the title of the book popped up showing the book was indeed in.

She stepped out from under the desk walked over to the man. "This way, sir." She said professionally. Mother taught her that no matter how rude a patron was to be she had to be professional and that Karma was one hell of a lady. It was in the the non fiction area all the way in the back. She walked in silence, though she longed for conversation. He didn't seem like the type of person she should start a conversation with anyway.

It was a bit darker back here, but not so much that someone couldn't read what was on the spine of the books. Taking a turn down one of the aisles she bent over and ran her fingers across the books before she found it. "Ah, there we go." She whispered to herself before sliding it off the shelf. She opened dusted it off and open the cover. "Hm, only has been checked out twice and the last one was five years ago." She gave a small pout, sadden that it hadn't seen much light and handed the book to the man.

As the Librarian led him to the book, his eyes lit up. "Thanks! Been wondering if this book still existed." He took the book and looked it over. The cover had an image of a man with a shaved head, dark sunglasses, handlebar mustache and wore a leather vest and fingerless gloves, he also had a pair of pants and cowboy boots holding a shotgun and massive revolver. Beside him was another man in a red uniform and five 'O clock shadow. With a fancy looking cap and rifle aimed in a random direction.

Behind the two was a massive explosion with the title: The Chronicles of Spaniard and Russian. "You don't know how long its been since I wrote this book. Or even saw it. Good to know that someone actually read this book...Such a blast from the past. Page 512. Our fight against a group of superhumans trying to take over earth...Most armies could not beat them, and we were both called to stop them by ourselves with almost no assistance...Tough fight..." He chuckled as he remembered that day like it was yesterday.

Once he grabbed the book she was going to leave him to it, but he started to talk to her. Oh no. She mentally grumbled to herself. She was not much of a cowboy kind of girl, maybe one with romance, but that one looked like it had little to no romance in it. Plus it was bad enough to that her wrote it. She didn't get many, if any, of the actual authors in so it was a bit of a treat, though sadly it was this guy.

Putting on a smile and do a small courtesy bow she said, "We appreciate you coming in and checking your book. It is a honor to have it here on our shelves. I will be in my chair if you need anything else." Her voice was soft and sweet. She stood up straight and turned to leave.

"And page 314...I don't know why I made that page...Ugh...I should have got rid of that arc clear and save my sanity and embarrassment... Catgirls, those kitty demons in disguise..." Russian shook to the core as he began to look at the books in the shelves. There must be some sort of book about mechs in this section, maybe he can get inspired and make a brand new model. Who knows, he might surprise himself.

She smiled and took not of what he said before making her way back to her seat. What a strange man. She sighed. Why can't I get normal people in here? Better yet why can't the normal ones strike up conversation with me. She passed up the manga section on her way to the stairs, but back tracked grabbing a few with cat girls in them before starting her way up the stairs. "Just in case." She whispered to herself.

"Oh, haven't read this book before...Oh! And this book looks like it has a really interesting mech design!...Maybe this as well!...And this too..." Russian muttered to himself as he back to stack mecha books on top of each other one after another. With at least eight books in total, he carefully walked over to the counter. Now he just had to make sure not to crash into anyone or anything and he was home free. For the first time, he was not shot, blown up, or had magic flung at him! Just a simple library. No danger in here!

Another patron came in the library with various small slips of plastic protruding from its chest. Humanoid in a black leathery hooded robe that had no seams and almost drifted rather than bent. Its feet were boots of similar make that made little sound as it wandered to the nearest pile of books. It read the title rubbing a single finger down the spine. A small tear in the surface vanished with a green glow. It then read the title again just to make sure the book said the same thing when the spine was repaired.

The Jinhai had no idea how to find the knowledge it required. There was no knowledge of this place in the Almanac and no sense of arcane device to identify the contents. What did catch its eye was a small female Humankind and another larger male Humankind that did not appear to be concordant with this place than a consumer of its resources. The face sported four dusty grey lights for eyes and a vaguely humanoid face of matte black sand with little distinction. The Jinhai went over to Lolanthe clacking plastic cards as it went.

The Jinhai spoke from nowhere in particular about the face with a rough sandy voice of indeterminate gender. Jinhai was a being still largely unfamiliar with initiating contact with humankind. They mostly ignored them going about their business. Jinhai did pause for a moment to collect its thoughts but initiating contact in this situation was required, "Female humankind, do you know where to get knowledge not contained in the almanac?"

It took a slip of paper and a worn library card out of its chest, "We require: 'a happy book mister dark man'"

They were not robotic but nonetheless extremely literal creatures.

Lolanthe was halfway up the stairs when the door jingled. Today was looking like a busy day. She turned around and smiled her best smile, "Wel-Welcome to Wing City Library." She almost lost herself there for a moment. Her eyes went wide, if not for what this thing look like but what it did to the book. Dexter would love this creature and if not she sure did. The things this thing could do!

As it's features became a little bit clearer her heart raced. What exactly was this thing and did it come here to harm? It stated for her and she took a couple steps up. Why is it coming this way? Wait...you are the damn librarian that's why, idiot. She thought to herself. When it spoke she almost sighed in happiness. It just needed a book, like most patrons. Clinging onto the Manga with a cat girl on the front she spoke, "I do!" She exclaimed happily. She bounced down the stairs and past the being with plastic coming from its chest.

She made her way back in the direction the author was in but instead turned the opposite direction. "Here we have lots of things not in the almanac. If you need something more specific please let me know and I can see what we have." She spoke happily, professionally, and enthusiastically.

Once Russian gathered a good stack of mecha books, he began to head back to the counter. "And everything is good, got books to inspire me, got my old book in my hands, and best thing is that no one is trying to kill me...If this doesn't not deserve a drink I don't know what does." Russian smiled to himself as he bragged a flask from under his uniform and drank from it before putting it away.

A drink always tasted better when you were in a good mood! Soon he arrived to the counter to...what was he supposed to do at libraries? Was it buy the book or rent it? Maybe both? He can just always confirm it with the librarian.

The Jinhai offered to what its mind indeed saw as the librarian the plastic card and the attendant paper. However in a Jinhai's mind used to the habits of mages the idea of a librarian was one literally a part to the library. The card proved to be a library card belonging to a young citizen of wing city and the paper did indeed say 'A "happy book mister dark man'. The child, presumably, had forgotten a closing quote. The pattern of plastic cards wrapped with written-on paper indeed what the Jinhai's chest was festooned with.

The Jinhai replied simply, "A humankind manifesting flesh we could not acquire assemble them requested to read. These are the requests not in the Almanac."

It extracted another paper and card sticking out its chest of an older fellow wanting a philosophical book and read it, "The Republic"

It looked at the state of some of the books as any library had its problems with patrons abusing materials, "We will repair any literature before providing them to humankind."

Though it hadn't a need for the head to look where it was going three spark-eyes pivoted around the head to look at shelving. The Jinhai voiced concerns of Almanac's interaction, "Do you carry the Almanac for this place, Librarian? We can inscribe the loci of Myrkul's Vein to trade instances of grimoire."

Lolanthe took the card and paper gently, smiling. "Thank you, I will get these books for you." She said sweetly and headed for the computer. Shockingly they had both of them in. Memorizing the dewy numbers she headed off, running her hands over the books and she went find the first one in the kid section of the building. Sighing she wish she could figure out how to get more kids in here. It was hard enough just getting the adults, but kids were almost impossible.

She turned around and headed upstairs where she found the other. It had been used quite a bit, but it should do. Making her way back down she checked the books and handed them to the person/robot before her.

Jinhai moving made the barest scuffs across wood floors as it moved as booted feet seemed to make contact with the ground then stopped entirely as if weightless. Its eyes darted to and fro reading tome names unbound from any sort of biological fixative limiting either depth or structure. The body bent and stretched over the top of the computer until the hood was upside down over top the monitor. It read with its eyes shortly flipped upside down committing the entire screen into the almanac. It didn't bother to bend up first before swirling in place to follow Lolanthe while reconstituting its shape. Its soft arhythmic thumping from long bent knee strides might be disconcerting to many as Jinhai left to catch up with Lolanthe.

Its voice was ever moderated but worn away as if over dunes from the foot of the stairs, "The computer is your node for this place? We are aware of them, now, but we find them inefficient. The lesser of Myrkul's Vein will come soon. They can build one for you, humankind."

It took the book running a glowing finger over a few bits of wear around the edges. Maintenance didn't take much effort or psimass and it kept these source artifacts from deteriorating outside an almanac. The book wasn't put under its cloak so much as pressed to the surface then dropped in with a fluid ripple. The wrapped library cards bobbed in place like flotsam.

Dennison sits on one of the reading chairs in civilian attire. He has chosen that today shall be dedicated to statistics books regarding criminology. Of course, he just ended up reading old Zorro novelisations. He has a deep fascination with the character, and wishes to learn whether or not the masked vigilante ever existed. Trying to convince himself this was just as valuable as reading the criminology books, he couldn't help but notice the little commotion with the librarian.

Huh.

It wasn't exactly the most incredible thing he'd seen in Wing City, but it was usual that the library would remain rather uneventful. This meant that the hooded being held a very disconcerting presence. It very obviously wasn't human. Then it did the thing with the book, and Dennison couldn't help but close his book and approach the entity.

He spoke quietly and casually.

"If you break it you gotta pay for it."

She stared at the creature, in mostly amazement, as it followed her. She had seen many things, mostly in books, but this one had to be one of the most interesting ones. It had started talking, this time about her computer. She stared at it while she scanned the card than the book. "Ah yes, my brother insisted we turn over a new leaf and try out this bit of technology. If these, Myrkul's Vein people are generous to grace us with something new we, the library, would be so grateful." She smiled up at the creature and gave it its books. She was in amazement as she watched it put the card and book up. "You are indeed an interesting... life form."

She took note of the man in the chair. She tried not to stare too long, since her brother always says it was rude, but it had been an interesting day filled with some interesting beings. She walked away after bowing to both and sat down back into her chair.

Jinhai turned to the humankind, its four flare-eyes bobbing and weaving independently much like the cards mired at the surface of its 'robe'. It looked around and to the sides creating a new identity in the Almanac. The whole of Jinhai would know the face evermore once this individuality returned to Myrkul to amass new memories there.

It said nothing for that long moment until after the four eyes returned to their square formation, "It is not our purpose to remove anything from the Almanac, Humankind. Only Myrkul's Vein may choose to forget. It will be read and added to the Almanac, as you have been."

An flaring oval eye winked out and the leather-looking gloves parted the sea of dusty motes revealing the open book hovering in its interior. A web of black lace holding the book in place as an eye peered up from its duty reading the book inside Jinhai. As the remainder took a triangular formation on its 'head' the singlet swirling grey eye peered at Lolanthe from the inside of its chest then went back to its duties.

"Myrkul's Vein assures the integrity of your works, Attestor Lolanthe, " Its mouthless dusty face said with chest still open, "and permits no damage. Do you possess scroll vellum suitable for us to inscribe a Loci? The egress point in Wing City permits access."

The book flipped a page in Jinhai's chest as the single eye continued reading.

There was a moment of utter dread as the creature remained silent, but upon hearing its response Dennison's feelings of fear turned to intrigue.

"Almanac, right... Sorry bout that. That Almanac wouldn't happen to hold anything about acoustic levitation or advanced slund engineering, would it?"

Dennison held close to the entity as it asked the librarian for whatever a 'Loci' was. Dennison was reminded about how immensely out of proportion he was with the rest of the universe. The creature was taking the information it observed and saving it to some kind of memory storage, as far as he knew from its vague statements.

He also thought it took itself far too seriously. Dennison would wait patiently for the being to complete its business with the librarian to get back to him if at all.

Lolanthe tilted her head she had no idea what the creature was asking for, but she guessed it meant a paper and pen. Though to be sure she asked it, "Do you mean paper and pen?" She asked as she made her way back down the stairs and behind the desk. Disappearing behind the counter she dug for a pen and paper. It only took her a minute to pop back up and place the sheets of paper and a pen on the counter gently.

"I have these, are these good enough? Maybe I can call up a store and see if they have some scrolls, but honestly I don't think anyone in town has them. Maybe one of the mage schools would have some." She said looking up and tapping a finger on her chin as she though. Though a smile once more appeared on her small pale face.

Leaning to the side she spotted the person behind her mysterious guest, "Hi there! Welcome to Wing City Library, how may I help you?" She asked.
