God of the Underworld

Aliases: Hades, Pluto (The Rich One), Dis Pater, Orcus, and Aidoneus (The Ruler of Many or The Unseen One), Clymenus (Notorious), Polydegmon (Who Receives Many), Chthonian Zeus, The Silent One and Eubuleus (Good Counsel/Well-intentioned). Besides his renown names: Hades and Pluto, his other names are epithets for most feared to even speak his true names.

Basic Appearance: The god seen by mortal eyes is a very frightful sight. He dons wicked and sharp armor of ebony with a dark mantle where a cape of black flames drapes down his back. When wearing his helm, his eyes burn a sulfurous white, and his complexion is devoid of the colors granted by the light, making his flesh grey and at times also pitch. The length of his mane varies, often seen long to his shoulder-blades or cropped short in bladed layers. His arrival is marked by an aura of darkness that surrounds him and blots out the light of the sky and casts the area around him in black and white. He tends to get around in his dark chariot if not manifesting and leaving by choice. His infamous Helm of Darkness is different from the helm he normally wears. When necessary, he summons it into existence, its shape forming from the shadows, and its wispy formation is placed over his head to veil the god in nothingness. Without his armor, the god is handsome in the most darkest of ways. His being retains the black and white monochromatia that surrounds the bleak world of the dead.

Background: Hades is the oldest brother of Zeus and Poseidon and the brother of three sisters: Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. He is the son of Cronus and Rhea, and after defeating the titans and drawing lots with his brothers, became God of the Underworld. There are many epic stories that follow after this god such as his frightening feats in the Titanomachy (divine war), the rape of Persephone, and other stories concerning Theseus and Pirithous, Heracles, Orpheous and Eurydice, and Minthe and Leuce.

Personality: Hades carries a dark and morbid personality. He is also known for being stern, cruel, narcissistic and unyielding—his wrath known best by those who dare attempt to leave his Underworld or trick Thanatos. He is a lonely god, ruling the Underworld alone until Persephone returns to grace him once more with her colorful presence. In result, he is antisocial and disliked by several of the gods of Olympus. He is a regulator of balance amongst the living and the dead. He is greedy and selfish, always interested in expanding his dominion of ruin. He carries a dark sense of humor, and though bearing such high and fearsome revere, he is a dealer in persuasion. He is deceitful and can always be expected to have a catch for every deal or favor granted by him. He has a thing for gorgeous women, particularly, nymphs or women of high regard but 'lo any woman that seduces the god and encounters the wrath of his wife Persephone.

Because his relationship with other gods isn't mentioned in documents, for this RP, I have made his relationship based on his current personality and some articles I have read. Thus, his relationship follows: Hades's relationship with his siblings and other gods is rather antisocial. He rarely attends their events unless they be mandatory to spare himself later rebuke. He tends to attend them off to the side and where he hopes not to be bothered noticed by anyone. He dislikes attending events for ruling the Underworld is a full-time job, and thus he sees them only as distractions and a waste of time. Respecting his brother Zeus's position of King of the Gods, he doesn't believe that his brothers are stronger nor better than him for their roles were decided by chance with the pulling of straws.

Most Prized Possessions: Helm of Darkness, The Key to the Underworld, Persephone, the mortal flesh of Hercules, and Achilles.
Pet: Cerberus
Possessions: Ebony throne and a black chariot pulled by four equines of death.
Symbols: Narcissus and Cyprus plants, Scepter, and Cornucopia.
Domain Description: Ψ
Image
Weapon(s): Thanatos's Scythe & Black Scepter (Mace)
Battle Dress: When in battle, Hades will seem like a black knight, donning thick armor with a six-foot scythe with a four-foot curved blade in hand. The scythe is the weapon of Thanatos, god of death, and the scepter at his right hip is an ebony mace, which amplifies the god's magic as well as makes a dangerous blunt weapon to get struck by. He wears a flowing cape of black flames and usually wears a standard helm different from the Helm of Darkness.
Powers:
  • Deception To appear as someone he isn't; to fool the enemy with illusions; not completely a power as it is a skill to use his silver-tongue to manipulate whomever he pleases.
  • Drain The draining of vitae; stamina; a case of vampirism without the desire for blood, without the need to feed, but the god can shorten a beings life, causing them or it to shrivel like a flower as his presence saps not only the courage and will, but life itself.
  • Fear There is nothing more frightening than standing before the God of the Dead. He tends to carry a chilling aura that grips you though the icy grip you feel upon your soul is not physical as it is emotional, it is fear. His presence can sap the courage of most warriors.
  • Horrific Creation He is a god after all as creatures are often birthed from him on a daily basis, cruel just like the god they bud from, forming from his breath, sweat, thoughts, tears, etc. No creature that forms from the god is ever good.
  • Inferno Calling upon the hellish fires of the Underworld, the god can cast an area into fiery ruin.
  • Invisibility An ability granted by the Helm of Darkness to go completely invisible. Once wearing the helm, he cannot be seen nor sensed. This is the god's most dangerous ability for the helm hides him from detection.
  • Shadow Manipulation He can manipulate the shadows, casting the area into darkness. He can move in an out of the shadows and use the shadows as lethal weapons to slice or crush his enemies as though they were corporeal.
  • Summon Cerberus When Hades calls upon the guardian of the gates to fight alongside him in battle.
  • Summon Minions He can summon the servants of the Underworld to assist him in obliterating an area or enemy, summoning monsters from demons, imps, wicked spirits, devils, and behemoths.

Author's Note: I tend to play Hades very macabre when he is in his god form. It may not be a constant thing, and I'll keep it PG-13 or walk along the borders of explicit without crossing over. So just understand, that's just how I play him because that's how I envision him.

He can be often seen wearing crisp, fancy suits with polished shoes, expensive watches, the whole nine-yards--he's rich enough. He is surrounded by bodyguards and associates, and his presence is very dominating, inflicting on the mind that this man is powerful (not as in power but status and money). Human Personality: Dmitri has high expectations when it comes to running his organization. He expects everyone to serve him and follow through with his orders almost flawlessly and failure is not an option. A black Cadillac Escalade limousine followed by two Chevy suburbans pulled into the parking lot of the unsuspecting establishment that was Gambit’s. The door of the Cadillac popped open as a man donning a black, crisply-pressed suit strode down the length of the vehicle, his eyes veiled behind black shades. He quickly swept the parking lot with a glance, searching for tails before he then rapped on the side of the Escalade with the flat of his hand. The doors on either side of the vehicle unfolded like a book as men dressed similarly: suits, ties, buffed shoes, combed hair, and sunglasses, stepped out. Two of the men were dressed casually in jeans and t-shirts, and together, they strode for the door of the establishment.

The suits were first to enter, filing inside while the gentlemen within the two Chevys and the gentlemen dressed like average customers waited outside. Once within, the ten suited-personnel began filling the booths along the wall, sitting four to each, while two others took a random seat away from the gaggle. It was when all the men were seated that the two common men wandered inside and found an empty booth between the two ranks of four to sit in.

“I hope you find this location most suitable to your likings, my lord,” one of the common men spoke. He was about in his mid-forties with soft-grey eyes and oaken hair frosting at the hairline. He and the man across from him were dressed similarly. They both were wearing a white tank beneath unbuttoned cotton shirts. His was loud with tropical colors of oranges and yellows, while the shirt of the man across from him was dark-blue and pin-striped with white.

“This will do,” the other man replied. He was a slightly younger man. He was in his thirties, and his index finger and thumb were pinched about a thick ring that he aimlessly twisted in the time it took for service to arrive. A young woman approached them with two menus, while service bots occupied the tables of the other men. The suits conveniently touched the robot’s face, typing in the codes for their orders, while Dmitri, the younger man, preferred traditional service.

The waitress habitually stroked a chestnut strand behind her ear. Her hair was tied up in a mess that left feathery strands dangling about her ears and neck and the makeup about her eyes was dark to accentuate the green of her contacts. She glanced to both men, greeting the older man with a smile that he happily returned before her eyes settled on the other. Once his hazel eyes—nearly gold in appearance—met her own, her heart became heavy with a pleasant burden. The way her eyes locked with his made her feel as though time had just stopped. She traced his strong jaw with her gaze, the fairness of his skin, and the coffee-layers of his hair. There was a great impulse within her to reach out and run her fingers through those thick follicles and her grip tightened about the menus to restrain herself. What’s wrong with me? she mused.

Dmitri blinked his eyes—an action that seemed to take ten seconds to her—before his attention turned to his associate across from him.

“Excuse me,” the older man hailed. “Can I just get water?”

The waitress blinked her eyes as though waking from a dream and glanced to the man. “Oh! Yes,” she piped before she set down the menus before the two. “And you, Sir? What will you have?”

“Water,” Dmitri replied. He actually had desired wine, but he didn’t think the cheap and reinforced bar possessed any varietals or vintages that would satisfy his palette.

“All right, two waters. I’ll return in second,” she assured them and then quickly strode on her way.

A few suits glanced over their shoulders to regard the mafia boss with amused smirks. Closing his eyes, Dmitri continued to fiddle with his ring as a small and naughty smile curled upon his lips.

While the red-head sat alone within the quiet bar, outside day had become night, and from night into darkness. There were bizarre humanoids climbing the walls of the establishment, creeping over the glass windows. The ceiling lights flickered on and fire blazed to life about the kindle in the fireplace, and from the fire crept a creature on its hands and the balls of its feet. Its skin was as brown as sewage and its eyes red like the life that ran through the veins of most creatures. Its nails were three-inches long and black, and nothing but a dark loin cloth veiled its hips. Small wisps of flame continued to burn upon its smooth shoulders as it continued to crawl, scurrying over to Danielle’s table before landing on its top with a thump. Its tail was like a lizards and hung over the edge as it regarded the seemingly-human girl with a smile that stretched from one pointy ear to the other and was lined with needle-like teeth.

“Defiant child; very defiant,” the imp said. It uttered a muffled chuckle from behind its smile. “No one is permitted to leave The Underworld. If Lord Hades knew of your treachery, he would kill you. He was only trying to protect you after all. There are so many wicked things in the mortal realm. He wouldn’t want his beloved flower to get hurt.”

The imp’s tail swung around to attempt to brush Danielle’s cheek affectionately.

The imp giggled sinisterly when he saw her raise her chin away from his tail.

“Take you back?” the imp repeated. “Not exactly.”

He prowled across the table and lowered his red eyes to the book she was reading. He puckered his lips and a stream of fire extended from them to instantly incinerate the text as though it had been soaked in gasoline. His lips then smoothed out as black ribbons of smoke dispersed from his mouth and nostrils.

“You see, we are free to roam the Mortal Realm and do as we please. When you leave The Underworld you enter our world. It was Lord Hades’s wish to protect you from us.”

Large hands settled on the back of Danielle’s chair and then eased it back as an enormous, ogre-like creature peered down at her. Its face was bulbous with jowls that hung like a bull dog’s and at its chest was a second being, a child-like creature with three fingers that it used to grab at Danielle’s hair and inspect its softness.

“She’s quite a looker. Glad we found her first,” the childish head and two arms spoke from the demon’s chest.

The imp’s lips rolled back as it bore its teeth angrily at the other demon. “Found her first? Are you blind?”

There were several other creatures beginning to well and bubble through the cracks in the bar floor and drip and dangle from the ceiling. They came crawling out of the chimney, the cupboards, from and beneath the stairs, the shadows, and from beneath the furniture. The bar was soon covered in ghastly and grotesque creatures, a rippling mob of moaning, growling, and snarling beasts that all desired one thing: Her.

The imp on the table cursed under his breath upon noticing all the other devils and spirits flocking toward his prize. Word got around fast in The Underworld. He had seen the girl first! He turned to face her, calmly perched on the table with his hands posted between his legs and feet.

“But I do. It is what I was made to do. It is what we all were made to do,” the imp informed with a devilish grin.

The creatures were oozing closer to her, moving like a heinous carpet. The words they spoke, the sounds they emitted were an incomprehensible noise of yearning. Hands reached to grasp her feet and ankles, some creatures spiraled like serpents up her legs to poke their smiling heads out from beneath her pink, gossamer skirts. Hands stretched from the walls to lecherously grasp her shoulders, and it seemed the wall gave behind her, sinking like supple flesh to try to greedily devour her or draw her away from the other creatures.

The door to the bar opened seconds after as suited gentlemen stepped into the building, some wearing fedoras. The last man to enter made all the vile beasts freeze in dread. The wicked faces paled in horror upon gazing at the black-suited gentleman, standing upon the welcome mat. The expression on his face was stoic, straight-lipped, and without emotion as his black shades took in the plethora of demons coiled and writhing at Danielle’s feet.

The imp’s eyes were wide and his tail as stiff as a board. The devils were like deer caught in headlights unable to move and didn’t dare to if the predator didn’t. The motion was slow but met with a wave of tension. Dmitri’s hand rose and disappeared within his inner jacket pocket. His fingers wrapped about the stock of a mere 9mm that he drew from a concealed holster. A black smoke seeped from his suit and rose off the black luster of the handgun as he pulled upon the slide. He then stretched out his arm to aim it upon the beasts wrapped hungrily about the dancer...

“Oh fuck!” the imp shrieked before he dove off the table and back into the fire. The fire flared at his vanishing, frightening the other devils to scatter back into the nooks and crannies they leaked from. Gunfire cracked loudly in the bar, the muzzle of the pistol flashed as strange, black rounds were ejected that shattered the hands that were grasping Danielle and the heads of the serpents that poked from her skirt. He flipped the switch to release the empty magazine. The hollow slot singing as it fell from the pistol’s butt only to collide with the knuckles of Dmitri’s free hand as he punched it right back in with a fresh jacket.

The two-headed demon turned to hobble away on its large and clumsy feet. It hadn’t gotten far before Dmitri pulled back on the slider and filled the creature’s back with black, bursting holes. The demon roared as it collapsed to the floor and went up in a plume of smoke.

Lowering the gun, Dmitri watched the remaining whimpering and howling creatures squeeze through the cracks of reality. Outside, the darkness cleared, revealing the stars, the moon, and the surrounding vegetation. The mafia boss tucked his gun away as an expression of anger—that seemed several minutes late—knitted his brows and made his upper lip cock in disgust. How dare they…

Dmitri glanced to Danielle and his frown softened as he crossed the room toward her.

“I am…” the words were difficult to get out, “sorry about that. They are my creations, and I take full responsibility. I won’t let them lay a hand on you ever again.” fin

Dmitri for what felt to be a long moment regarded Danielle from behind his shades. He saw the relief shining in her eyes and he couldn’t help but feel mild disbelief. This girl who had been so cross with him for stealing her away, she didn’t blame or curse him for the ruthlessness of his minions.

“You know I wouldn’t let anyone hurt you,” he reminded her.

She might not have realized it, but she was very precious to him. The longer her green eyes searched his face, the more anxious he became to steal a kiss from her lips. Dmitri hesitantly turned his head, his golden eyes visible from beyond the leg of his sunglasses. He had to shake free of his lust for she did not love him the same way.

“You left The Underworld…” he stated. “Did I not give you everything there?”

Dmitri frowned as she made these promises now. He glared at the floor, his skin crawling as though the eyes of Olympus were upon him for his crimes. The mafia boss shook his head as he then took a step back and turned his back on her.

“It is too late now. I have tried to hide you for so long, and the gods have been scoping the earth, never suspecting that I would steal you away,” he informed. It was unusual for the God of the Underworld to feel fear, but his mortal shell exposed him to the chilling sensation. What would the gods have for him?

Before her eyes the atmosphere seemed to change. The bar blurred, melting like oil around them until they stood in darkness. The darkness was then filled with a bright light, and Dmitri no longer stood as Dmitri. A cape of black flames hung from his shoulders, and the god stood as dull in his black and white monochromatic as an inkblot. He kept his back to the divine conference seated behind him. The antagonizing stares of several of his kin were upon him. Zeus sat upon his throne with the largest of eyes for he was shocked to see that his own brother had been the perpetrator.

“Hades?” he uttered in disbelief. “And I had expected a giant or titan…”

Hades turned a black eye over his shoulder, his iris shining like an eclipse.

“Then you do not know me, Brother. Even if it had been a Titan, I would have taken her,” he confessed.

“What is the meaning of this? Stealing children from your own sister…”

“She is no longer a child. She is my opposite. She is meant to be with me.”

When Persephone chose to leave him for her mother, the god whirled on her, stretching out his arm as the black scythe of Thanatos extended past her shoulder. The deadly, four-foot blade snapped around to bar her path. The god’s skin had shifted to black and his eyes white—only his pupils and the traces of his irises seen against the vibrant contrast. His teeth were clenched in anger as he gazed upon the back of Persephone. She was a liar…it filled his mind. Lying bitch…she had only desired to escape him. She escaped The Underworld on purpose to reveal herself to the gods so they could save her. The scythe shook in his hand, quivering with the fury that ran hotly through his veins.

“It is too late. She is mine. She has eaten my food, and therefore, she is bound to my realm,” Hades declared. “Who better to guard her, don’t you think? She will have nothing to fear for I am all to be feared. I so far have taken good care of her.”

Zeus stood from his throne. His brother’s scythe had unsettled him as lightning danced up his forearms. He set his eyes on Persephone, and asked, “Is this true? Have you eaten the food of The Underworld?”

Hades grinned at her, his teeth shining against his dark contrast. Condescending laughter leaked from between them as he regarded her with a frown of distrust.

“Did you really think I would let you go so easily? You lied to me as well. You promised to return with me, and here I see you running to Mommy. Don’t you see Persephone, you and I are so similar. We are both liars.”

The goddess’s shadow would shrink and she’d find the floor moving under her as the shadow drew her closer to Dis Pater. Hades lowered his scythe and stared sternly into her green eyes.

“It is not my intention to upset you. I only want you to be with me.”

Zeus had been musing silently, stroking his cloudy beard with his fingers.

“And how many seeds did you eat?” Zeus questioned.

The bar door opened as several suited gentlemen strode in to stand in two files. From between the two files emerged a man in a black, crisply, pressed suit. Shades obscured his eyes and his hair, well-groomed glistened with light oil beneath the ceiling lamps. His eyes swept the bar nonchalantly before he nodded his head over to an empty table in the corner where he and his minions could sit in peace. The ash tray was quickly put to use and one of the thugs, Bernard, turned from the table to get the gentlemen some drinks.

The men that sat around the mafia boss were quiet. No one spoke of the punishments they had exacted on a few IOUs, talked about women--well, certainly not that subject. Even when obscured behind his shades, the henchmen could tell that their boss was feeling quite distant. A Cuban cigar was burning between his lips, grey exhaust filtering through his nostrils and escaping out the corner of his mouth. He hadn't said a word since the daughter of that goddess was taken from him.

One of the thugs was bored and anxious. The silence was getting to him, and the table had been quiet long enough for his beer to have a quarter of liquid left. He briefly eyed the remnants before tipping his fedora back and peering over his shoulder at the babe who had wandered over to the bar. He glanced from her back to the other guys before he finally spoke, "Hey, check out the dame." He directed their attention with a thumb over his shoulder. Several of the henchmen had turned their heads to look or even peek from the corners of their eyes at her. Dmitri, however, continued to smoke his cigar in the silence that had made the atmosphere uneasy.

"She's like a model or something," the gangster went on to explain. "You ever see a girl dressed like that around here in a serious fashion?"

The conversation had relieved some of the tension about the table and settled the groups' nerves. Dmitri didn't seem interested in participating and he didn't look like he would interrupt them.

"Maybe she's a hooker," came another thug with a naughty grin.

"Hell, if she is..." the gangster reached into his trouser pockets and removed his wallet. He parted the leather and fingered through the dollars. "You think I got enough for a blow job or shit...maybe if she isn't a gold digger I can get a blow job and a lap dance."

One of the thugs reached over and plucked a fifty out of the gangster's wallet. The gangster then slapped his hands protectively together and glared with clenched teeth at the thug.

"You bitch. Give me back my fifty!"

"Ha, yeah, you owe me. Remember that bet we had on the Super Bowl. I got 50, you still owe me 450."

"I said I'd pay you! You're robbing me of a grand opportunity."

"What to get your cock wet? Yeah, like that doesn't happen on a daily basis. You'll get over it."

The gangster frowned at the thug and slid back in his chair. He plucked out the remaining fifty in his wallet, before returning to his pants pocket.

"You morons watch how the champ works," the gangster boasted.

The thugs are the table rolled their eyes and some of them even laughed. The gangster approached Serenity and he whirled around to rest his back against the bar and stood to her left with one of his, he'd call, charming smiles. He rested his elbows on the countertop and peered up at the girl's face as she drank her whiskey.

"Hey there dollface, I saw you from across the room and couldn't help coming over. You're looking mighty fine tonight. You uh..." He began flagging the fifty at her. "Up for some fun?"

The gangster's smile faltered a little when the girl's smile turned into a sneer. His eyes lowered to his hand that she had grasped, and then they nearly bulged out of their sockets when she began to crush it within her grip. The bones and tendons in his hand began to crackle and pop.

"Agh! What the fuck!" he exclaimed. "She ain't a normal bitch!"

He grabbed at her hand, trying to loosen her grip on him as he sank to his knees.

The other thugs at the table were in an uproar of laughter.

"What a champ!" one exclaimed.

Dmitri had even noticed the situation across the room. The sight putting an amused smirk on his face. It had relieved his minions to see the boss was in a good mood. If he was, they were.

The gangster scrambled away from the woman, his hand limp like a dead fish. He was clutching his wrist and when he came before his laughing group, he growled at them.

"I swear she isn't normal, and hey, fuck you guys!" he angrily cursed.

Bernard pointed at Dmitri. "I guess that includes the boss as well."

The gangster glanced at the smiling mafia boss and paled. "Oh, no. Not you, Boss. Every one of these scumbags, but certainly not you."

Dmitri's lips parted into an impish grin. "Well now, I believe you just won the Ass-kisser of the Week Award."

The thugs continued to laugh as the gangster forced a sheepish grin. That hadn't been his intention. Rolling the cigar to the corner of his mouth, Dmitri stretched out his arm and pointed down to the floor to his right.

"Come over here, you're my new ashtray," he ordered.

The gangster sighed in despair and Dmitri frowned.

"Sulking? Really? You should feel honored, Ass-kisser."

The gangster forced another smile as he walked around the table to crouch next to his boss. Dmitri drew the cigar from his mouth and stabbed it into his back. The burning end burned a hole in the back of the gangster's suit and undershirt to singe his back. He clinched his teeth in pain as he felt Dmitri twisting it out against his melting flesh.

Dmitri reached into his jacket pocket to remove his cigar case. He was already in the mood for another.

The laughter about the table had fallen into silence at the entrance of a young man. The minions had sensed it, and Dmitri’s eyes had been following the stranger over to the bar. He continued to drag on his cigar in silence until the man happened to turn his head in his direction and regard him with a raised brow. Dmitri grasped the cigar between his index finger and thumb, and removed it. Secondhand chutes of smoke were expelled from his nostrils before he spoke out to the one that smelled of Titan.

Dmitri’s brows lifted above his dark shades as a condescending grin parted his lips. He was a cocky, little shit, but a fool.

“My superior? Respected?” Dmitri’s grin had yet to thaw as his minions chuckled around him.

The gangster with the cigar melted into his back rose to his feet. He flexed his broken hand, the bones beneath his flesh realigning and the red inflammation settling. He tugged at the lapels of his jacket as the cigar fell from his back to quietly hit the floor. The other thugs at the table rose to their feet to sneer at the punk, who dare address the boss with so little concern.

Dmitri slid the cigar back between his teeth and spoke past it, “I am my own superior. You seem to be confused, Boy. It is the gods who are supreme. If it had been the other way around, then wouldn’t we be in Tartarus? I have no clue as to what Titan’s ass you managed to crawl out from, but you’ll be reunited soon enough.”

The henchmen were no longer about the table of the mafia boss. They stood like ominous shadows around the young man with their mouths pulled into wicked smiles that were stretched to inhuman proportions.

Dmitri’s eyes became half-lidded as he regarded the stranger. “You’re referring to the Gigantomachy and perhaps also to a Disney film. The Titanomachy and the Gigantomachy bore the same conclusion. The Titans and the giants you refer to, confusing them for Titans…were destroyed by me and my kin and imprisoned in Tartarus, which is where you’ll end up.”

The legs of the chair Kol was seated in sank as hands reached from the floor to draw it under. The henchmen then attacked, thrusting their hands with fingers that had contorted into lethal knives for his throat, chest, and abdomen, seeking to impale him.

The demi-Titan had failed to notice the sinking of his chair. The henchmen frowned when their claws disintegrated upon collision with the powerful aura that surrounded their enemy, but with the off-set of his balance, the wave of chaos energy could have been assumed to not have gone in their enemy’s desired direction. The heinous spirit that had been drawing the chair under was trying to draw him into its gaping mouth—to swallow him like a mini Charybdis down a tunnel of numerous crude teeth that could shred him like a blender.

The eight henchmen dashed backwards as the rubber of their dress shoes screeched across the floor. Green flames flickered like tongues from their lips before their mouths opened, spewing concussive streams of hellish fire at the demi-Titan.

The demons kept up their harsh streams, the one being assaulted having not noticed the demi-Titan’s swift approach. The creature gagged when his hand entered his mouth and shrieked when he was thrown against another devil.

An imp had just landed on Dmitri’s table, setting down a White Russian for the mafia boss. At Kol’s mention of a deal, Dmitri raised his hand and snapped his fingers. His minions immediately ceased trying to attack the demi-Titan.

Dmitri picked up the tumbler. The glass was inches before his lips as he informed, “Speak.”

The god couldn’t resist a deal. He was actually pleased that the man had chosen not to fight. He wasn’t his nephew. He didn’t really enjoy fighting. Instead, he saw it as a waste of time. Hades had a plethora of Underworld minions that could have dragged this fight to end of time. Negotiations were quicker.

One of the henchmen turned in time to catch the end of a scorpion stinger in the eye. The devil yowled as blood rolled down his face. The creature then released the wall to fall on top of him. Dropping his human guise, black horns sprouted from his skull and his skin morphed into bronze. The devil grasped The Crawler’s tail and ripped it from his eye before he rolled over to pin the creature beneath him. He swiped at its face with his black claws, cleaving at it wildly until it was reduced to hunks of meat.

The other henchmen were watching the wrestling match in bewilderment before glancing around the room at the hordes of monsters pouring into the bar. Where were they coming from? Some unknown god of some sort?

“Boss?” the henchmen called, wanting to direct his attention to the infestation, but they noticed his eyes had been on someone else.

Upon noticing Danielle had wandered aimlessly into the bar, Dmitri stood from his chair and followed her over to the bar counter. He greeted her with a warm hand pressed gently against the small of her back before he turned to face her.

“What are you doing here?” he questioned. He thought she had wanted nothing to do with him.

The henchmen glanced at the three Slashers charging wildly at their boss and his girl. The eight henchmen desperately lunged at the creature’s grabbing their arms to keep their bladed limbs from sinking into the back of their boss. They wrestled the creatures to the ground and began stomping them into bloody chum. Their suits were being stained in carnage.

Dmitri’s arms folded about her when she fled into his embrace. His right hand rested against the back of her head, his fingers curling amongst her mesh of wavy, rouge layers. His left hand rubbed the small of her back.

“Forgiven,” he told her. He smiled softly, burying his nose within her hair. He was so glad to have her in his presence. “You have no idea how much joy fills me when you’re here.”
