Lysaria Lestibournes

A Twinborn looking for some excitement.

0 · 422 views · located in Gambit's Hotel, 4th Floor

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by HitoriRaven

Description

Allomancy
Allomancy is one of the three magic systems in the Mistborn fantasy novel trilogy, and is the most prominent. People capable of Allomancy are known as Allomancers. Allomancers have the ability to "burn" (or use) metals, in order to fuel a variety of physical and mental enhancements and abilities. For an additional burst of power, they may flare, or burn their metal especially quickly, consuming it at an accelerated rate, but gaining greater benefits in return. A person who can only burn one metal is known as a Misting. If a person is born with the ability to burn more than one metal, they can burn all Allomantic metals, and are known as Mistborn.
There are 16 metals that Allomancers are able to use: 8 basic metals (4 base metals and 4 alloys) and 8 Higher metals (4 base metals and 4 alloys). All these metals must be pure when ingested, and the alloys must be mixed to specific proportions. If the metals are impure or mixed wrong the Allomancer could become very ill or possibly die.
The Allomantic metals come in four groupings of four metals: Physical, Mental, Temporal, and Enhancement. Each of these four groupings has two base metals and their corresponding alloys, which in turn have a related ability. Each metal produces an Internal or an External, an Push or an Pull effect.

Feruchemy
Feruchemy is the second magic system in the series. Feruchemy works differently from the other magics. While an Allomancer burns metal to gain power, a Feruchemist can use these sames metals as holding units, or minds, to store up their own power. Basically, depending on the metal, a Feruchemist can become worse at something in exchange to be equally better in the future. No power is gained or lost.
The major strength of Feruchemy versus Allomancy is the speed at which one can access its power. While a Feruchemist must provide the power for the magic from himself, storing it over time, an Allomancer can simply consume metals to power the magic. However, an Allomancer has limits to how much power they can draw at once; a Feruchemist can draw out the power of the metalmind with virtually no upper limit, exhausting it in one massive burst if they so choose. For instance, a Feruchemist tapping a pewtermind can be far, far stronger than even a very powerful Mistborn burning pewter, if only for a short time.

-----------

Lysaria is a Twinborn, a person who has one Feruchemical power and one Allomantic power. She has to power to 'burn' iron, revealing blue lines that lead to her chest. With them, she can 'Pull' on the lines, which lead to metal. Physics still apply; if the item is larger, she goes towards it, if smaller, it comes to her, and if equal, then both move about the same distance. Mistings who can burn iron are know as Lurchers.
As a Feruchemist, she can store fortune, or luck, in a metal called chromium. While storing, Lysaria becomes unlucky, and when tapping, the opposite happens. Ferrings who use chromium are called Spinners.

As a person, Lysaria lives the life of a Twinborn and a courtly lady. Having her powers has given her freedom, she can be both polite and cutting, depending on the situation. For the most part, she is what is described as a 'tomboy', though the word has not gained significance where she comes from. Adventurous, brave, a bit short-tempered and sometimes foolish.

She wears a mistcoat, essentially a jacket with long swirling tassels, occasionally. Otherwise, she usually dressed in a late 18th century style suit, rather than a dress. After all, it's hard to move in one of those. She carries a flask tied to her belt, filled with whiskey and iron shavings. Lysaria also carries hip holsters that holds two Sterion 36's, six-shot revolvers modified to carry various types of bullets. A steel plate is worn on her chest.

Lysaria has long, wavy, blonde hair, which is pulled back into a ponytail when on official business. Her eyes are chocolate-brown and she stands at about 5'2, making her a fairly small target. She is fair enough, as far as looks go, though for the most part tends to hide anything that would get her noticed overtly.

So begins...

"Damn. This is really inconvenient," the woman told no one in particular. A few invisible threads of blue extended from her chest and out into various parts of the ruins. The ends of these strings were attached to various objects made of metal. As she had discovered on her first Pull, these objects were more likely to be small than someone large enough to hold her weight. Luckily, these objects were buried in rubble and weren't so easily displaced.

Mentally tugging on one of the strings, the woman lurched up towards the top of a ruined building, while the tassels of her coat fluttered with the movement. She landed solidly on the roof, having no particular way to slow herself down.

"Wish I could've seen this place when it was still intact," she mused.

She bristled at the voice, expecting to be alone in this ruined area. However, the tension slowly dissipated with the ease of a practiced motion. The woman slowly turned towards the source of the noise, alert to any possible attacks. The iron burned quietly in her stomach and she checked for any lines leading towards the voice.

"Aye, perhaps. That's why I said the place, and not the people," the Twinborn replied.

Her ponytail bobbed lightly as she searched for other female, eventually spotting the figure. "I thought it was polite to introduce yourself before asking others their business. I was under the impression that this place was not under anyone jurisdiction."

"Presumptuous to call me defensive, then, when you yourself refuse to say anything. We must then operate under the assumption that both of us have something to hide, and leave it at that," Lysaria retorted, slowly leaning forward onto the balls of her feet without changing the position of her body.

She quickly noted possible escape routes. There was a line attached to something nearby: part of the building she had used to jump up. In a pinch, she figured she could Pull herself fast enough to avoid the arrow.

In the meantime, Lysaria figured that aggravating the situation would be of no use to either of them. Her hands slowly came up, and her pointer and middle finger gently touched her temples. "No need to point that thing at me. Follow you? I didn't even know you were there!" she exclaimed, "Sheesh, who just points an arrow at whoever just happens to be around?"

"I'm just your everyday law-abiding explorer."

Lysaria almost lurched to the side, but her profession required predicting the path of bullets, and arrows weren't so different. She didn't move.

"Not exactly the way to get a date," the blonde quipped, dropping her hands. Now that the imminent threat was over, she casually checked her hair to see if had been disturbed in all the commotion.

Finding no problems, she then replied, "I'm not sure what these ruins are called anyway, so that's lucky. If this was a city, then I have no idea either. Otherwise, the place I came from is Wing City. Familiar with it, perhaps?"

"Well, it's a given that not everyone here is from here, so that makes sense," she agreed, "In fact, most people in the city itself aren't from this planet either. Or so I've noticed."

At Taylor's comment, Lysaria giggled like a schoolgirl. "Yeah, filthy. Filled to the brim with crime, drugs, alcohol and corruption." The Twinborn hopped up, flying towards a pile of rubble, landing on a stone near Taylor. "Which makes it like every other big city in all of history," she said wryly.

"An impostor? Sounds like fun. You have a twin or something that you didn't know about?" Lysaria nodded cheerfully. "Well, why're you looking for her?"

She snickered. "Fairly well. I guessed as much, but asked on the off chance you were going to give her a hug and buy her a drink."

"Well then, what're your plans? Just going to fly into the city, asking people if they've seen someone who looks like you?" Lysaria inquired, feigning disinterest and observing her fingernails.

The woman scowled as the door shut before she could reach it, rolling her eyes while swinging it open again. Striding in to the center of the bar, she looked around for someone to bother.

The ghastly man and his boss drew her attention, though they looked quite dangerous, that didn't bother her much. With confidence, she approached their table, coat tassels billowing, and casually hopped into the seat. There was a fairly obvious gun hanging at her hip, but she kept her hands above the table.

Hopefully, that would keep the bodyguard from shooting her on the spot.

"Hellooooo. I like your shades," she commented.

The blond's ponytail bobbed as she shook her head, while she shot a cheerful grin to bodyguard. Her hand extended to meet Valerio's, gripping it tightly and shaking. "Oh, no, no, sir. No service needed here, just a bored lady is all."

Lysaria leaned over the table, resting her head on her hands. "Well, now that I notice, I'd like to compliment your...friend on his taste in firearms," she said, then addressing the bodyguard, "Now now, no need to worry. A poor girl like me isn't a threat." Of course, that was true, but the Twinborn didn't exactly expect him to believe her, either.

"Just curious, is all."

Lysaria made a quick exit from the nearby Gambit's and took off with a run. Burning iron, she then Pulled on a nearby source of metal above her, lurching into the air. As she approached the ground, she Pulled lightly again to slow the fall, landing and absorbing the impact with a crouch.

The blonde woman took off again at a run, keeping an eye out for trouble. More often than not, there was crime on the streets, and it was her self-assigned job to keep that to a minimum.

Lysaria was on patrol.

The Twinborn stopped at the loud crashing noise then immediately continued forward. Upon spotting the pair, she was unsure who was actually in the wrong, but obviously it was possible that the man was in danger, so she acted upon intuition.

Looking for the smaller lines connected to the man's body, she Pulled hard. His weight exceeded hers, so instead of just the man moving, both of them gravitated towards each other. After all, just because this seemed magical, didn't mean physics was completely nulled.

Lysaria hopped easily over the unconscious pervert and rushed in between him and the other blonde. "Hey, hey. I'm sure that you're really mad, but you could've killed him with that kick!" she told the other woman, frowning. "There was no need to hurt him that badly."

"Sure, but if he was trying to rape you he definitely wouldn't have done in a bar. Molester, maybe," she mused, "In any case, I'm just trying to stop a possible death here. A beating, maybe, but killing him wouldn't have helped anything. An eye for and eye and all that."

"I definitely believe that much, though a kick to the head is a bit excessive," she conceded. Lysaria raised her hands. "I'm sure he's learned his lesson.

"Sure, go ahead and wound scum, no problem. But instead of kicking him out, try breaking his arms. That'll stop him for a good few months. Won't be able to touch a thing," she quipped, grinning the darkness, "I guess I'm not really doing a good job of defending him here. "

"Well, it's not like you were trying to avoid it. Like I said, could've easily incapacitated him in some other way. Besides, don't know your own strength and all that."

"Yeah, and you're one to talk, miss "kick someone out a window and in the head because he touched my butt." Pretty sure you can call the cops on sexual offenders instead of taking your foot to them," Lysaria retorted.

"The point here is that I'm not the only vigilante, not about the effectiveness of the cops. Though I guess if they were useful, I wouldn't need to be out on the streets." She waved a hand back. "That's not the issue though."

"I'm more inclined to believe that getting creative implies painting the streets with his blood, in a bad way. Of course, this is from the short moment we've been acquainted, but correct me if I'm wrong," she replied.

"In any case, can you leave it alone?"

"He is indeed out," the woman agreed, glancing back at the man's limp body. "Casually noting the part where you deny being a sadistic psycho after saying how you'd like to see him squirm. Casually going to skip the putting two and two together part." Lysaria giggled softly. She couldn't quite dislike the woman.

"And anyway, you may not be a psycho - though that's debatable - but when people get mad, it's hard to predict them. So I chose to step in before anything could happen, even if it was unlikely," she said.

"Preeeeeettttyyyyy sure it's not," Lysaria stretched out her words, "Preeeeetty sure that's the definition of sadism." Or it was as far as she knew, and as far as she knew, she wasn't wrong. "But whatever rocks your boat at night girl, none of my business," she said, winking, then realizing that the other woman probably couldn't see it.

"Well, that's what small talk is for, right? I walk in on someone kicking the shit out of someone and I step in, just to make sure. Now I know better." A pang of curiosity struck her. "What do you do anyway?"

Lysaria laughed again. "That wasn't exactly the most stealthy beating, but I guess even mercs need a break sometimes too, huh?" she asked cheerfully. "Sounds like fun, really. I wish I could do that kinda stuff better."

"Well, as long as everything's settled," Lysaria began, flicking her hair back, "...care for a drink? I promise I won't try to feel you up or hit on you. Lost the motivation to be out here for the night anyway."

"I'm sure they'd let you back in if you waved enough money around, but eh. Probably not worth the trouble. I'd almost ask you to pay for that window, but as far as I'm concerned, it's that guy's fault," she said, glancing at the unconscious man.

"Well, where to, then?" Lysaria asked, looking down the street. "I'm not familiar with the bars in this particular area."

"Sounds good to me. At least I know my way around Gambit's, and I can always justify a fight in there," Lysaria nodded. "I'll buy it. After all, who would believe that a pair of girls like us could punch a big, strong man out a window?"

"Let's go then." With a glance at Jenna, Lysaria began walking back the way she came, taking care to give the man a light kick the leg before she stepped over him. "Asshole."

"I am the whitest knight, and I don't mean that in just my colour," Lysaria replied, kicking the door so it stayed open. "Nah, keeping crime off the streets is what I used to do back in my stomping grounds, so I kinda just continued doing it here. Habit, I guess. We didn't have police there, just lawkeepers. And that's where I came in."

"So no offense taken, I guess you could say it's also my job." With that explanation, the woman jabbed a finger towards the counter. "You don't strike me as a booth person," she commented.

"Thought as much. I get the same feeling. Not only that, it's harder to get the hell out of dodge when shit goes south." Lysaria followed, though she plopped into the seat, folding her legs.

"Farther out, though I'm not sure where relative to Terra. Magic doors 'n all that, you know?" She chose to flag down the bartender, since he'd have to stop by anyway, and order her drink like so.

"Well, I have something akin to magic, so I guess I'm pretty okay with it," Lysaria said, tilting her head back and forth. "In fact, I would trust it with my life, which it's saved higher than I can count. What comes after four again?"

She didn't look at the man either, but snickered and then pouted at Jenna. "There goes my plan to get you to lower your guard and then grope your ass," she said with false disappointment, "Time to default to plan B."

The blonde quirked a brow at the sudden change in personality for the other woman, then waggled her fingers threateningly towards the other's lower body. "I skip the lowering your guard part and go straight to the groping," she said casually.

She moved her hand back away, grabbing her drink instead and taking a gulp from it, rolling her eyes. "I was kidding, in case you couldn't tell."

Lysaria grinned at Jenna, shrugging her shoulders. "I'm not sure if you're insecure about your sexuality, insecure about your sexuality, or bad at catching on to jokes, from that look on your face."

"Seeing as your idea of making friends is kicking them in the head, I'd have to say I like my way better," she replied with a wink. The commotion towards the door drew her attention though. "Ugh...you know, we should probably help that girl."

"So within a few hours, we've clarified that you're insecure and are a dominatrix. I think we've made great progress, don't you? And I don't even know your name," Lysaria pointed out, giggling.

"Sure, because you need a context to pick up on something like that. And I'm sure you weren't, or all your friends would have to have a pretty weird kink. Though maybe that's the case, eh?" She winked at her companion, downing her drink.

Lysaria continued giggling, her cheeks slightly red. "I think you're just choosing to receive the signals wrongly and I bet that not all you have trouble receiving!" She made a "V" with her pointer and middle and slid a finger in between them, in case the dirty joke wasn't clear.

"Oh, and I'm Lysaria. Nice to meet you," she said, trying to get over her laughing fit.
