Not one for parties, Marie keeps herself to herself and speaks little. She hates crowds of people, socialising, or having to be polite. She'll speak her mind at all times and doesn't believe in sugar-coating her words. Often apathetic to others' lives, she can carry on with her own quite comfortably no matter how many opportunities she has to help another. Despite this, she's lonely; yet she drives people away with her unfriendliness that stems from being unable to express her feelings. She prefers to be on her own usually, but that's really because she hasn't found anyone whose company doesn't bore or annoy her.
Marie left her hometown when she moved out from her stepfather's house, to escape the teenagers that loathed her. She rarely visits, having felt free for the first time. It was nice to be liberated from the constant insults, gossip and fights. She doesn't mind fighting -- far from it, she grew up with two stepbrothers and has a blue belt in tae kwon doe -- but it irritates her to have to deal with the consequences. There was also slander about her tomboyish, or even androgynous looks. She wasn't so bothered by is until her stepbrothers picked up the baton, and then there was her breakup with her only girlfriend, that she hates to think about even now.
