"There's only one thing in life I don't suck at, and that's flying."

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by The Hayknll Theory

Description

Melanie Storm, her last name is as good a description as any. A storm in the sky, but upon the ground, she's just a fog.

Mel's life has been interesting, to say the least. A member of the Dalian race, humanoids bred by slave traders for combat, Melanie Storm was born free upon a pirate ship, The Huntress. Raised by the captain and crew, Mel spent her life doing what her race was bred to do, fight, sleep, and fight some more. A bonus to her position was that she had more fun as a pirate than any Dalian had as a soldier. But while fighting and stealing was her job, her passion was flying. The Huntress was a Ragnarok, a fenrir class battleship built by an ancient race that locked it's secrets away with their passing, and only three of the ships still exist. It takes a special kind of pilot to fly a Ragnarok, they're designed with a integration system that functions much as a mental control unit, but instead of flying by thought, the pilot has to control the ship by heart and instinct. While many pilots can boast of instinctual skills, the Ragnarok is entirely different. The ship isn't designed to fly like a machine, but rather like a living, breathing creature. In order to fly it, the pilot has to be as if she is the ship, something that Melanie excelled at. Nothing made her happier than flying that ship.

But one day, her passion became her curse. The captain, a greedy man with little to no heart left for the world, plotted to sell his crew, the ship, and Melanie to the very traders who bred her race. An ambush planned by the captain almost succeeded, but Melanie was awoken by the ship. She attempted to fight the traders and escape, and only partially succeeded, during the assault her family, the crew, was slain, the captain sucked out the airlock, and The Huntress badly damaged.

She crash landed on a backwater dirtball called Earth, and was taken in by it's people. The ship, being of advanced technology beyond the understanding of any known life, quickly repaired itself, even as the traders descended to take the entire population of Earth as live stock. In the week before the traders arrived, Melanie made many friends upon that place, and as the slavers came to take them, Melanie took flight once more and sought to end the threat to her friends.

It is still unclear what exactly transpired, but the people of earth bore witness to a historic event. The beings who created the Ragnarok ships created them so as to become living creatures upon acquiring a "heart". It turns out that the "heart" The Huntress required was in fact Melanie, who was symbiotically fused to the ship. At that moment, Melanie Storm as she was, And the Huntress as it had been, ceased to be. They were replaced by a single entity, and as a result the true power of the ship was revealed. What had once been a simple space borne vessel had become a warrior, the ship transformed into a humanoid shape, and wielded weapons of energy and crystal.

Melanie destroyed the slavers and ran away from earth, seeking a place where a creature such as her could find understanding of what she was, and perhaps even find a purpose for her power.

So begins...

A bolt of plasma arcs out nowhere, followed by several others. They begin to stream out of a point in space, before coalescing and collapsing back into the point where they originated from. A blink later, and a widening rift, pitch black and seemingly flat, forms. Then, with a sound like thunder, a bolt of red is blasted out of the void, which quickly seals behind it.

A large red colored ship, with a prow like a hawks head, streamlined and armed for combat now hovers above the planet terra. The ship's four tactile thrusters lay silent, and sparks discern the location of a hull breach. A frantic female voice calls over a wide range frequency radio towards the planet, and amid the Static a message is heard: "....Systems are..... Unable to rep.....gancy assistance......ello?....."

Melanie Storm breathed a sigh of relief when the transmission came through on her end. She closed her eyes and adjusted the frequency. As she did her mind cleared and the image of the ship that had hailed her formed in her minds eye. "This Melanie Storm, The Red Huntress. I've been damaged and need emergency Assistance, I'm transmitting coordinates now.
She opened her eyes and looked towards the planet, feeling the gravitational pull upon her skin, even as it pulled upon the ships hull. "You should hurry, I'm not going to be in orbit for too much longer."

"Oh my god" Mel said to herself before clenching her eyes shut and bracing. When the "claws" grabbed the hull, Mel shouted in pain. "For the love of god be careful! That wound still hurts!" She shouted, her words transmitted to the Vigilante.

Melanie Storm shuddered for a moment then concentrated. "No... You either need to get a medic in here to me or you need to get a repair crew on my hull. Do you see that prismatic lquid leaking from the hull?" She transmitted, referring to a liquid crystal, glowing with power and life.

"If that doesn't stop pouring from the hull, then I'm going to die. If I don't stop bleeding, then I'm going to die... So, by all means take your time."

Melanie Storm muffled a gasp, then sighed in relief as the jellyfish repair bots began their work. "Be.... Be careful of the Life Blood, it has enough energy to.... Make a super nova look like a baby fart....." Melanie then passed out from blood loss. At the same time the ship powered down, it's eyes and systems audibly shutting down, and the hull seemed to darken.

No boarding ports would be apparent, but near the neck of the ship, an emergancy access panel with a green access light could be seen.

Once inside the ship, any boarding party would be aware of dim, pulsing warning lights blinking towards the bridge, where Melanie Storm would be found sitting in the pilots chair, blood staining her side and pooling beneath her.

Melanie Storm shuffled slightly in Nenza's grip, then peeked out of one eye. Whether she recongnized that she was being carried or not could not be discerned, for she quickly passed out again, her body going limp in the large creatures arms.

Outside, a small, stray, insignificant spark, from an exposed wire in the hull, sped out and lighted upon a small glob of the lifeblood. The life blood flashed an intense white, and was then gone, followed by a shockwave that, by all logic, should not exist. The ripple passed through everything near by, and living creatures in the wave would be shredded, then reformed exactly as they were as the wave passed. The effect, while intensely unpleasant and painful, would cause no permanent damage, aside from a hellish migraine.

The field dispersed further, though the shielded Vigilante was protected from it. It expanded for another fourteen seconds, then the distortion that marked it's place faded away.
The event caused Melanie to moan in distress, which would urge her would be saviors to make haste to the medical bay.

At the border of the abandoned slums, the zomborg situation had been all but fully contained. Many had fallen, but not enough to allow the Cursed Wood to become ravaged by such beasts. On command from a higher officer, few of the Forces Vankoryth took off into the wood. Just in case. Another small unit assembled one of the zomborg bodies as a package. It was to be transported back to base for experiments. As the small troupe assigned to the delivery was about to take off, another body arrived for transport. This one was a soldier, or something, from one side or another of a seemingly unrelated battle. Quickly the thing was packaged up and hauled out.

The Forces Vankoryth would continue to camp, in their mass as they were, until given command to take down and leave. Venomsquad, as a whole, had yet to return. The troops quieted as above storm clouds began to mass in thunder and rumbles. Hesitantly they armed themselves, lightning cracked down from the sky. Some jumped, others shook their heads, most stared into the Abandoned Slums with grave expressions on their faces.

"Why? We need to get everything together!" he told Telford. There was much too much going on, however. But surely, he could help some of it!

Even though, as the Forces Vankoryth moved in, and the Quincy forces continued their fire on them, as the stunning warrior woman with her lightning barreled in, and as the snipers disappeared, Biohazard soon realized that his services might hold better elsewhere. With a sigh, he turned back to Telford. "Fine. Where do we need to be? Where else are the cyborgs swarming? Do we know where the center of all of this is going down?"

"They said the business district back in the city was swarmin' with them." The Scottish soldier told Biohazard, spotting the glare of a rifle scope from afar. "Shit." Telford would raise his own rifle, letting off three shots at the apparent sniper.

As his shots went off several dozen men exposed themselves, each man wearing armored vests and flak jackets. All sorts of weaponry in hand.

"Ubiystv vse." One of the men shouted, "Kill them all." He added, a thick Russian accent coating his words. The group of hostile Russians opening fire on anyone they could see who wasn't one of them and searching the area for more.

Benjamin cried out in pain as he was grazed by a bullet fired by the Russian neutrals, prompting him and his subordinates to take cover before returning fire with their celestial arrows. He didn't expect for citizens to be fighting against them, if he had he would have been far more cautious. It seemed that most of the undead threat had been swept from the slums, and only small portion remained.

While his ground forces focused on eliminating the humans who had fired upon them, the Quincies positioned on the building tops continued their assault on the zombies from above.

The ship gave no response, but the eyes of the dragon head on the fore of the ship, as well as the gemlike structure, lit up.

A moment later the after burners flared up and the Red ship darted forward and then up, before diving back down at the three ships like a hawk after it's prey. In fact, it could be sworn that as the ship descended, the screech of a hawk could be heard.

The ship would close in without a matter of seconds, revealing enormous speed for the size of it.

On all three ships the crew were left stunned by the speed of the approaching craft. "Full power to the engines!" Was scream on all ships as the three took evasive action. "OPEN FIRE ON THEM THEY HAD THEIR CHANCE!" Luke shouted over the comms to the corvettes.

"Prime Torpedo bays 1 & 2 lock onto their magnetic signature!" One of the corvette captains shouted as the orders were relayed though time would be needed to load the weapons. As Luke gave the open fire order a stream of laser fire from the two corvettes was fired in the direction of the unknown ship.

The ship spun as though it were a fighter, evading the laser fire and continuing it's rush to the three ships. At it's speed it was upon them in a moment, with only just enough time for the lives to flash by.

Then, as quickly as the ship had been moving, it stopped, the four after burners flared out as to catch itself, and the dragon head prow was literally inches from the luxury freighter. The ship ceased, moving no further, nor backing off. It just stopped....

The ships tried to fire their lasers but it they couldn't keep up and then the ship was face to face with Lukes freighter. "Reponse force ETA 6 minutes!" An orderly shouted on a corvette.

On the Freighter Luke Sullen watched the events play out. "All ships hold your fire. I want to talk to the captain." He said and they tried hailing the ship once more. "I see what you want you have my permission to board." Luke said and then turned to the captain of his guard. "Ready your men Captain." Luke said but knew his men were already taking up positions around the ship.

No response came from the vessel for a time. After a moment a hatch opened behind the dragons head and, garbed in what was clearly a military issue space suit, someone traveled the length of the ship before leaping off it and onto the hull of Luke's Freighter. The moment the individual had left the ship, the ship vanished the same as it had appeared, and all the nearby vessels would be rocked back as a sort of shockwave passed over them.

The figure on the hull of the Freighter then pulled out a small device, which quickly unfolded it to a weapon. A moment later, the PA system of the Freighter would begin to emit static before a womans voice popped on. "Sorry about all that, Tia doesn't have a lot of tact. I promise though she wasn't going to hurt anyone. Now I'd like to talk to whoevers in charge but uh.... Let's do it out here yeah. I don't feel comfortable getting into an enclosed space with a bunch of scared men and women with guns, you understand."

The woman was suggesting that the group meet in space. Luke's guard captain looked to him and laugh. "Your not going out there Mr. Sullen. But I will the man said. As he donned his armor and then moved into the outer hatch. Moments before he left weapons in hand what seemed like a shield enveloped the entire ship.

"Electron Stabilization Field Up Captain Richards, Any supernatural attacks against you should be neutralized." An officer said into Richards comm as he opened the air lock and exited onto the hull of the ship. His boots latched onto this ship viva a set of magnets. Though the grip was not as strong as it normally would, a side effect of the ESF field around the ship.

"What do you want? And who are you?" Richards asked through the PA on his suit.

Melanie Storm the woman smiled brightly behind her visor, which appeared to have no face at all. "Directions, and who I am isn't important. Suffice it to say that I have a ship, and I need a place to make port so that I can refuel, rearm, and resupply. I've made six jumps so far and each one has resulted in me being attacked, falling into a solar orbit, or getting stuck in empty space. Needless to say I'm getting tired of it, so if you have some reliable coordinates to a space station or some other port that's open to warships then please share them. Oh and keep in mind you don't want to give me coordinates to a place you don't want damaged. After having just met Tia, I'm sure you can understand exactly why."

"Well then the man just seemed to nod as he thought things over for a moment. "I would be willing to offer one of our own space ports but it sounds like where ever you want to refuel you will be damaged?" He asked as he pondered their current situation. He knew if he sent the ship into an enemies territory he could be wreaking havoc upon them. "Yes I believe I have coordinates that will suffice. Send your ships to Langara. They are not within our soverignty and I believe no one but the Aschen them selves would really mind if you attacked them though this is merely a suggestion. If you wish to cease from further attack we would offer you fuel for the right price though." He said. "If you choose to go to Langara I must warn you the Aschen are formidable foes and not ones to be messed with lightly.

The woman's shoulders shuddered as she laughed at his statement. "Had I wanted I could have destroyed all three of your ships, traced them to their origin and destroyed your homes before you would have had the chance to understand what it was that was attacking. Your people would have thought god himself was delivering punishment from on high. You can doubt that if you wish but you saw yourself has easily I slipped under your guard." She lifted her hand from her gun and raised the face cover on her mask, revealing a woman in her mid twenties, with pitch black hair and eyes as dark as the void, but shining with the light of the stars. "My name is Melanie Storm, Captain and Pilot of The Huntress, the fourth warrior of Ragnarok. I don't know who these Aschen are, but If they're as weak as you and yours, they would be but Ash in the wind." She chuckled at her own pun, then shook her head. "Darn, I had no reason to give you my name, and I shouldn't have. Oh well..."

Well then it was a pleasure doing business with you. Thank for the information and take care." He said, "Please get off my ship though." He said before disappearing into the airlock once again.

Luke Sullen clapped loudly. "Very well done!" He said to his guard. "I'd make you a diplomat if you wern't such a damn good body guard!" He said and offered the man a glass of scotch which Richards decline for the moment.
