Description

Abilities:

Merrick's self-proclaimed "Demon Metamorphosis" causes a purple flame to engulf him, then change him from the weak, skinny, black-haired young Asian boy to a purple-haired, tall, muscular, and quite handsome Asian man. Even his whole outfit will change. The transformation allows him to use a purple fire, gives him a boost of strength, agility, and speed, and heightens a few of his senses, such as his hearing and sight. It also causes an unexplainable rage to "fire" up within him, and gives him an ego boost the size of the sun.

One, two, three. One, two, three! Onetwothree, threetwoone. One one one one one one one one.

The doors more or less slammed open, and grasping the sides of the doorway was a young man, in his late teens, with a mop of black bangs flopping into his face. He wore a black business suit, the jacket of which he flung over his shoulder as he walked in. He was wearing bright purple suspenders.

He was lanky and tan-skinned, with a lopsided grin on his face. Black eyes surveyed the area, latching right. Onto. The only guy in the bar.

"Well, heeeey!" the young man cried out, landing himself violently into a stool next to him. He pointed to the bartender and snapped. "You! You get me a this man, here, a drink. Stat. He's my new friend."

He looked at Benny.

"Hello new friend. How about you give me your name? Mine's Merrick."

Merrick popped a brow.

"Yo, what's with the poh-light speech and all the-" He waved his arms in the air, slipping out of his stool, "-whatever? C'mon, man! Live a little. OI!" He pointed to the server again, "Water and an Irish Car Bomb, a'ight? A'ight." He sat back into his chair.

"Just talk to me, man, just talk, no need to be, ah, what's the word? Formal, right? Yeah, formal. Don't be like that, a'ight?" He grinned at him as both items were delivered.

"Benny. Benny's a cold-ass name, man. I like it. I jumped into the bar, because, well, that's what you do."

"You'd be surprised. If you get enough beer- and this is a shot, by the way- then you'll get knocked out like a light. And probably wake up naked on a picnic table with an equally nude stranger, but-" He snapped and pointed at Benny, "-hey, you were asleep at one point, right? Riiiight?" With a high chuckle, he threw back the shot.

"Nightmares?" He completely ignored Benny's observation that, well, not everyone jumped into the bar. Because everyone should jump into a bar. Common sense.

"What kind of nightmares?"

"Oh, they were attractive, alright, but I don't think they were as happy to see me as..." He paused, shaking his head, "Well, let's just say they didn't expect the next morning whatsoever."

He ordered another shot, which was also thrown back as quickly as the first.

"Nightmares? Yeah, if you don't want to talk about 'em, I get it. I can relate, there." He paused, ushering the bartender for more shots- "Buttery nipple, woncha? And-"

He paused as the bar began to warp and change. When a young man came through, Merrick stared for all of five seconds with his lips pursed.

Then he smiled. He smiled bright.

"Heeeey! Look at that! A weird-ass motherfucker like m-" He paused again, catching himself, "-like a lot of people in this city. Heeeey. Look at that, Benny!" He tapped the guy on the arm and pointed to Brian.

Merrick had spoken quite loudly and made absolutely no attempt to hide his words from Brian. In fact, it would have been better for the guy if he'd heard.

Running his hands through his black hair, Merrick nodded to Benny. He ordered several more shots. "Hey, man, no harm, no foul. I was there. Once. Maybe twice? Yeah." Yeah, he'd been there more than that, and his desire to do so lasting no more than five minutes.

He slid one of the shots toward Benny. "All Jacked Up," he said, pointing to it. "Good for you." He pointed to Brian.

"You, my friend. You shall have a drink, as well."

"Underage is just a rule. Rules don't mean jack shiiit, dude." called Merrick from his stool. He watched as a small girl came into the bar. He pressed two of his fingers together and pointed to her.

"Not going to ask you to drink, though. That'd be weird."

He turned his attention to Benny. "Yeah, well, my friend, same to you." He reached out to pat him on the shoulder. Yeah. Made a buddy in five minutes. Five minutes. For everything. That's just how Merrick rolled, and he hoped Benny wouldn't mind. Because, seriously, everyone else minded.

"But, hey, man, at least you're alive, right? Right now. You've got life ahead of yah. Got parties to crash, girls to fuck, jokes to make."

The television in the corner happened to life.
"Winne Rineswurth here reporting live from outside of the Ball of Chaos! Ballroom Dancing in the Alfarsi Gallery is as active as ever, and shows no signs of stopping. The outcome has been spectacular thus far, more celebrities and guests are still anticipated to arrive. "

Merrick did not seem to care about speaking so profanely in front of a little girl. Her choice to come into a profane place, so she was going to see and hear profane things. Not his problem.

He leaned back in his chair after Brian talked about how it was a rule he would choose to follow. Fuck that, man, fuck that. He waved him off and let his attention move on to the television. A ball, huh? Huh...

"Y'know, for me, girls suck all the time." he joked, a wide grin on his face. "But hey, I understand. Dreaming about cheese is the shit. Were you on the moon?"

Oh, lord.

"You know, I think a few did! Might have been that drunk." he replied. "Or high. I've done some crazy shit." Like every single drug known to man, several intensely poisonous. Being some kind of purple-haired freak on some days really had its benefits.

Right now, however, he was Merrick. Black-haired, normal human Merrick. No pointy-toothed demon here. "You know," the teenager started, "I do have an apartment. Two bedroom. I share it with my roommate, but she wouldn't mind if you want to crash."

"Hey, hey, hey," Merrick wasn't nearly as drunk, and possibly just lightly tipsy. He was able to sense Benny's stress quite easily. "It's okay, man. It's okay. I think Minke'll be happy, though. She can barely tolerate my company. She said I'm all over the place, so she might enjoy a little more, uh. Uh. Uh. Less everywhere. Sure."

The second Samuel had come inside, Merrick's attention switched to him. "Yo. That stache." He touched his very bare upper lip. Of all the things he had been able to do in the last few months, of all the powers he'd acquired, there was one thing he had yet to achieve.

The boy couldn't grow facial hair.

"That's a lot. Well, Minke doesn't like anyone staying in the bathroom too much, so don't worry about that." said Merrick with a wink. "She won't even care if you're trying to take a shower. You'll get ushered out, and she won't care about how much clothes you got on."

Benny mentioned a favor. Oh my.

"I'll use that to my advantage, so be careful when you say any favor, man." he joked, leaning his foot atop his knee.

He gave Samuel a phony salute. "What's a large-stache'd man like yourself doing at Gambit's?"

Merrick could not hold in his laughter. He bent over forward, first in snickers, then in all-out, uncontrollable laughter. He beat the counter with the flat of his hand and shook his head.

"Benny, I'll take you to a club, we'll pick up a couple of whoever you're most into, and we'll have a night." he promised him. He was taking it the wrong way, obviously.

He turned to Samuel, nodding. "Of course. Work this late? Well, I guess there's always someone not sleeping at this time." he said. "Me? Uh, you know. Making friends, talking, getting wasted."

Merrick, well. If he wasn't already used to this, he would have spat out his drink. Or, well, his spit. He forgot he didn't have a drink in his hand anymore.

Again, he grinned, and nodded. "I am. I am! But-" He reached over and patted Benny on the chest. "You gotta wait for this, man. Give a little more effort than a drunk one." Once again, to Samuel.

"The good life? All the time! If it's not a good time, it doesn't get my attention." he told him, leaning over to rest his elbows on his knees. "You work at...all hours? Rough."

Merrick took one last shot, and slid off his seat. "Cmon," he told Benny. "I'll show you to the apartment. You can crash."

It was going to be an awkward night.

Merrick walked down the street with his hands in his pockets, looking down at the ground as he walked. He lifted his black eyes, looking up at a looming apartment building ahead, red-bricked with...steel doors.

You kind of needed that kind of thing in Wing City.

"Home sweet home comin' up," Merrick said to Benny. "You holdin' up alright?"

"Looks so on the outside, huh?" said Merrick, walking up to the door. He fished something out of his pocket- a set of keys, and a card attached- and let it pass by the automatic key guard on the door. It beeped once, the light turned green, and the door opened.

Merrick walked in, and up a set of stairs inside, until he came to a door on the third floor. He used an actual key, this time, to open the door.

Inside was the flat of two college students. Slightly messy, with unwashed dishes in the sink, with the smell of Axe, perfume, sweat, and Chinese food.

There was a woman on the couch, scantily dressed in a tied plaid shirt and a pair of jean shorts. Merrick held out his arms. "Home sweet home."

"You're so serious unless you drink. So polite!" laughed Merrick, clapping Benny on the back. He walked inside, then sat on one of the couches. The one where the woman was sleeping. He sat on top of her back. She squirmed and whined, but Merrick ignored her.

"Her name's Minke, by the way. And you can sleep on one of the couches, or with her, if she judges you're a good show of character."

A pillow hit him square in the face, and he was pushed off of the couch. Minke wipes her hair from her eyes. "Ass!" she snorted to Merrick. She walked to the other couch and curled up, staring at Benny from her vantage point.

Coming in on the other side was a young, scrawny man.

He was, perhaps, five foot six, with a mop of black hair, skinny, pale, with brown eyes. He wore some kind of school uniform. Grey. Dowdy. Boring. Black tie hanging around his neck, the first few buttons of his shirt opened. In between his lips was a toothpick.

He looked really bored.

His eyes scrolled around the dojo before they landed the kid in the middle of it, swinging around his sword like some kind of dumbass.

"Hey! What's a kid doin' in here? Get out before you hurt yourself!"

"Yeah, you're obviously gonna hit yourself with the sword! End up choppin' your head-" He made a sharp sound in the back of his throat, "-right off!"

Advancing towards the boy, he began to circle him. He probably wasn't that much younger than himself. "I'm here to hang out! What's it look like? Got to have somewhere to loiter after a day of classes! Who do you think you are, huh, punk?"

"Nope! You're just a kid. Kids don't know what they're doing!" said the scrawny boy, reaching out his hand to land on Agnimitra's head, trying to push him backwards.

"I say what I want! Don't want to use big bad words in front of a kid!" he snorted. He pushed his hands in his pockets and danced back, wary of anything the kid might try. "I hang out anywhere! Wing City's huge. There's enough stuff that I can't keep my attention in one place. This is my first time here, and huh, kinda looks boring to me."

"Three syllables, thanks!" grunted the older boy. "I know exactly what to do here, I just don't have the patience! I-"

He paused, feeling warmth up the sleeve of one arm. He took his hand out of his pocket, watching as it was being engulfed in flames.

Purple flames.

His eyes grew wide as he flapped the limb. One might have thought it was Agnimitra's doing, but he wasn't the only one who could use purple fire powers. "Hey! Hey, not here, not here, STOOOP!" he whined, and soon enough, the flame extinguished.

He grabbed his wrist, rubbing it, and looked back to Agni.

"...nothin' happened."

"...I fuckin' know what generous-"

The flame ignited once more. He shook his hand and extinguished it for the second time. "Stoooop! Stop doing that!" He turned his head to Agni.

"That's me. Why? So you're a purple-headed freakazoid demon with purple flamey powers, too? Well, whaddya know!"

The boy stopped.

"...uh. What was that?" he asked, poking his face in Agni's own. He began to walk forwards, to try and back the kid up toward the wall. "What'd you say?"

"No, no, no. You said something else." he replied, taking one arm to plant it on the wall beside Agni's head. His eyes searched his face. "What did you say after that? Average something."

"...an average girl, huh?" he said, raising an eyebrow. He studied Agni's face a bit. "Well, I guess that could work. No wonder you feel threatened by my position."

He slid away from her, hands in his pockets, with a smirk.

"Merrick Vadas. Not the most pleasant meeting, but hello all the same, little girl."
