a character in “The Multiverse”, originally authored by Guest, as played by Nevermore90

Description

Image Name: Minos Desiato (Pronounced: Meen-ohss, Des-E-auto)
Race: The Catfolk are the members of a strange race who travel from village to village, looking for money and company: they don’t have a permanent home and are always on the road. Constantly joyous and playful, Catfolk love to play and there is no end to the mischief they can wreak. (Completely different from a Kitsune, Neko, or Anthropomorphic animal)
Gender: Male
Phys Desc.: Catfolk are short and muscular, but without the weight and ungainliness of dwarves or the slimness and beauty of elves. They stand 4Β½ feet tall, sometimes a bit more, and weigh around 85 to 120 pounds. They have definite cat features: a short muzzle, whiskers, vertical pupils, a long, graceful tail, and legs shaped like those of big cats; however they walk upright, albeit with a slight stoop. Their skin is covered in a coat of soft fur of any soft color, and their eyes are usually green, yellow or brown. Catfolk have hair like a human but they tend to keep it short. This is not a strict rule however, and their ears are those of a cat. Their arms are human, but furred less and less going down until their slightly shorter-than-human hands are furless. Catfolk mature at 14 years of age and live for around 40 or 45 years.

Minos, in particular, is 101ibs, 4 5/6fett tall, and has brownish/tarnished fur.

Racial Traits

  1. +4 Dexterity, +2 Charisma: Although his features may repel at first glance, a Catfolk will charm within minutes. However they often get into muddles wiser characters have to get them out of.
  2. Humanoid (Feline, Shapechanger)
  3. Size: Medium. As a Medium creature, a Catfolk is just an "average" build.
  4. Catfolk base land speed is 40 feet.
  5. Low-Light Vision (Ex): Catfolk can see twice as far as a human can in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. He retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions
  6. Natural Weapons: Catfolk have two primary claw attacks, each with a damage value of 1d4. When not wearing foot protection, a Catfolk may add a secondary kick attack that deals 1d4-1 lethal damage. They have a Bite which does 1d6+1.
  7. Feline Balance (Ex): Catfolk have an innate ability to stay balanced on their feet. They gain +4 on Balance checks and always land on their feet if jumping or falling, but they still take any applicable damage.
  8. Feline Curiosity : Catfolk's innate curiosity allows them a bonus feat at first level.
  9. +8 racial bonus on Jump checks.
  10. +4 racial bonus on Climb, Hide and Move Silently checks.
  11. Cat Empathy (Su): Catfolk have an inborn talent in dealing with domestic cats, and will automatically succeed on all Handle Animal checks involving them. For non-domestic felines, they make a normal roll but gain a +8 racial bonus.
  12. Automatic Languages: Feline and Common. Bonus Languages: Dwarven, Elven, Orc, Gnome, Halfling. Catfolk find it useful to learn the languages of their friends and enemies, namely the five most common races.
  13. Favored Class: Ranger
  14. Level Adjustment: +1

Personality

Catfolk are optimists in all respects. They take life as it comes, usually with much laughter and merriment, and never look to the future, past, or indeed the present. This outlook sometimes does more bad than good, but Catfolk are quick to make amends, and even quicker to forgive themselves. In battle they are quick and lively, leaving their enemies confused and bewildered as to what they will do next, but even after a battle they are a nuisance, sometimes trying to make friends with their captives.

Because of a bad run-in with a wizard warforged, he does have bouts of depression that sometimes manifests into blind rage.

Catfolk get along well with members of just about every other race. They admire those who live in the wild more than city dwellers. Because of this, they seek out the company of halflings, wood elves, and gnolls. Catfolk have a hard time understanding the slow, steady approach that dwarves take to life, and the two races have little in common. Because they are such opposites in both temperament and physical abilities, catfolk and dwarves rarely enjoy the other’s company, although no real animosity exists between the races.

Dwarves aren't seen around Wing City very often (mostly on account of being an unpopular race among roleplayers here) so he doesn't much have to worry about them. He envies elves for their slender bodies and racial standard of being "beatific" to almost any race, but among the cat folk, he does have certain facial and bodily features that win females over. (unfortunately the only other cat folk ((who was female)) that he has ever met in Wing City, or in any other high-populated place like this, died horribly, and he blames himself)

Usually Chaotic Neutral. Naturally, Catfolk are almost always chaotic. Some do settle down for the quieter life but the road is always the Catfolk’s home. Most lean towards neutral on the other axis, having no interest in the affairs of state and the people in the lands they travel through, but some have a cruel streak, restulting in evil alignments.

Minos enjoys the idea of "ANARCHY!!!!!!," but does not typically condone evil acts. He hates when people mistreat other people for no reason. (Like if say he found an abusive boy friend beating up on his girlfriend, he would try to help, but he wouldn't think twice about stoning a murderer, rapist, or Sadist)

Catfolk roam the open grasslands in temperate and tropical regions, shunning the colder lands even in the heights of summer. Wandering tribes of catfolk rarely come close to the large cities of other races, but they occasionally camp within sight of a smaller town or village in order to trade. Catfolk roam great distances in their travels and do not become attached to a specific range or territory the way that nomadic tribes of humans sometimes do.

He has mixed feelings about coming to Wing City, to say the least.

Catfolk have their own language, which they use primarily for conversation with other members of their race. Regardless of whether they communicate in Feline, Common, or some other language, catfolk express their opinions quickly and expect others to do the same. Catfolk can listen to others patiently enough, but once they have expressed a clear opinion, they expect the conversation to come to a conclusion quickly. They have little time for those who attempt to persuade or debate by simply restating their opinion. They grow bored when others take a long time to reach a point or who view an exchange of opinions as a trial of endurance.

"You want to TALK about what we should do?! Why don't you get off your lazy human ass, grab your gun, come with me, and just do something about it?!?!?!?!"

Catfolk name their children in Feline, which is impossible to transcribe into Common. However upon reaching his 9th birthday a Catfolk child may give himself a name in any language he desires, so there is no preset system for naming.

Minos was the name of a King who took Athenian slaves and put them in a huge labyrinth, or maze, where they would become hopelessly lost and be eaten by a minotaur. Minos took this name because of past.... "trading" he used to do. Desiato is a name he stole from a movie a bought but never saw. He just read the back. (Desiato wasn't even a main character, but he still liked the name) He speaks with an accent. (Listen to the male who plays Mr. House on T.V. I do not particularly like that show, but if you do, then you might know of his accent)

Adventuring catfolk feel the restlessness common to their people more acutely than most. The thrill of discovery and a great sense of curiosity drive these adventurers to break from their tribes and wander other lands. Beyond simple wanderlust, some catfolk find the heat of combat exhilarating, and the rush of danger draws the catfolk adventurer ever onward. Catfolk admire adventurers and see accomplished adventurers as great assets to the tribe. The nomadic life of the catfolk is fraught with danger and inexpected encounters, and the life of the typical catfolk is more akin to that of an adventurer than the life of a typical human or elf.

One of the reasons he came to Wing City: To be the first Catfolk there ever!

One of the most major things for catfolks is memorabilia, or items to remember past events. Whether it is a mighty sword used to slay a dragon, or the fletchings used to kill a Catfolk's first game animal, they all have special importance. The greatest gift you can receive from a catfolk is one of their keepsakes, and to be explained its meaning. (Things can also be as seemingly insignificant as a special pair of socks they wore when they got hired for a new job)

History

Former slave trader, Minos Desiato is trying to make amends for his past life. He is nomadic, traveling all over Terra (but mostly far from the north or south poles or mountainous regions, as they tend to be cold). Typically, he would stay far from large cities, but, as not finding how to "right" things in the wilds, he had turned to city life. Thought the last city he was in got one of his friends killed (and he blames himself for it), he drives onward. :D

So begins...

Minos Desiato bounded into the bar with a flourish. He jumped into the door, with smacked against the wall with a "CLACK!" and groaned on its hinges as it slapped back into place. He tucked and rolled on the floor into a tight ball, finally popping up, back into the air. Minos landed on the bar counter with a slight smirk. He knew "humans" had their standards, their morals, their digital wrist-watches, and their standards, but he didn't care. Catfolk he was and a Catfolk he shall be!
Minos smirked again and turned around to survey the bar. He had spend a day foraging in Wing City, only hearing of Gambit's last night. Leaving his den early in the morning, he had bought a jacket-sized just right for him-to hide his weapons. He cleaned his fur grudgingly-Humans should at least be glad he did that-and purchased one of their newfangled contraptions: a flame-arm or a fire leg or a.... Oh yeah, fire arm! An F'n'Fifty Seven or F and N Fivety Seven or something like that.
Minos potted his pockets appreciatevly; he'd have to pay a visit to the-what do humans call weavers?-and give him his favorite shirt in thanks.

Minos Desiato smirk faded just slightly. He looked down at Kiyamasa and eyed his wrists for any digital wrist-watches. "Is that a sign of hostile oppression or a compliment?" His tone was lightly, only vaguely solemn.

"...like a friendly bitchslap?" Minos asked. He had heard the term "back hand," which he knew was related to slapping, he knew bitch was an insult among human tongue, and there was another word for slapping known as "bitchslap." He didn't like common tongue. He felt stupid for speaking it, and it sounded stupid to his feline-knowing ears. The biggest problem he had were all the homonyms or heminems or m and m's-or was that candy?-they had in their language. Just make up your minds humans!

Minos Desiato grinned slightly. He didn't know that saying bitchslap made people laugh. He would have to remember that for later. 'I thought it was an insult,' he thought to himself. 'Or a threat or something.' "I am Minos Desiato, at your service." He extended one of his paws, claws protruding slightly.

Minos Desiato eyed the zombie. He reached into his jacket with his free hand, his fingers lightly brushing the handle of one of his Lynx Paws, just for comfort. 'I thought.....oh hell this is bad... zombies aren't just mindless automotoms trying to eat flesh that they can't digest? That... sucks. Or maybe he's friendly? No... no zombies are evil... the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual 3.5 edition said all undead are evil and mindless.'
Minos looked back at Kiyomasa. Eyes wide, he ripped his arm away from him. "What the hell?!"

Minos Desiato sighed. "Well you sure, have offended me." he turned tail, quiet literally, and walked down the bar counter. He sat down on the counter in front of Serina and kicked his feet childishly. He looked up at the big robot. "So what're you supposed to be?"

Minos Desiato reared his head back violently. "What the sex is up with all of the people in this unpleasant human afterlife pit and trying to touch me inappropriately?!" He stood up a little too quickly and almost lost his balance, but his tail swayed and he regained it. He ears flickered disdainfully.

Minos Desiato looked up at BLADE. "Well would you mind protecting me from these felophiles?" He whirled quickly. "No I am not sexing okay! First I've got some creepy ear weirdo grabbing my arm, then this....... witch assaulting my head, and now I'm talking to a Zombie and a.... what? Robdot? Road dot? What did you say you were, again?" He asked, addressing BLADE.

Minos Desiato "Same thing!" He snapped, pointing a swaying finger accusingly at the zombie. Not wanting to get it bit, he pointed at the robot. Not wanting to get squashed, he pointed at Serina. Not wanted to get molested, he turned back to the zombie and let his hand lay at his side, claws extended.
Minos looked back at Serina. "Why would I be fucking? I don't have a mate. You, sir, are disgusting."

Minos Desiato looked at the zombie again. "Like I give a sex! My constitution is way to sexing high to succumb to a disease...and I mostly just don't want to get my finger bitten off."

Minos Desiato "Why would you make a deal with my shit? It isn't sentient." He sighed and looked at Necro again. "Well dungeons and dragons said that all undead-except for vampires, zombies, ghouls, and a few others-are mindless and evil, and if DnD said it then it is true!" He screamed.
Minos tried to turn to BLADE but hit his head. He stumbled to the side, but his feline feet gripped the edge of the bar; he wasn't going to fall. "...um.... is that like one of your felopedic mating devices....? 'Cause I'm kind of only into girls...."

"...I would like to think that only part of my body is my ass.... Seeing as you, sir, are human, and humans claim to be the most advanced race in the scientific field, I would think you would know that... but," He shrugged. "I guess some people still think shit is sentient for some reason."

"Stupid house cat?! I am not a feline home slave! You, ma'am, are the racist here! How dare thee use thy tongue to fowl thy name?!" Minos reached into his jacket and brushed his hand over his weapons, just for comfort. "I should slay you and send you back to the unpleasant version of the human afterlife! You are so....sexing............. um..... what do humans say.... sexy? Sextard? ugh I don't know. I hate humans. You guys all suck. war out." He prepared to leave.
