a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by DemiKara

Description

Molly
Image
Molly is the more modest and less bloodthirsty of the Molly and Karato. When she's 'fighting' she is all business, otherwise, she's all play.

Alias. Well, I get called Host a lot. My inhabitant refused to use my name. I also get calls Molls.
Age. 20
Gender. Female, thank goodness. I'd hate to share a body with someone of the opposite gender, after all.
Height. Taller than many males actually. I'm six foot, three inches.
Build. Lightly muscles and athletic
Species. Human

Personal History

The worst of it happened when I was seven. There was this girl, who lived right across from where my street began. We played a lot as kids, since we were the only girls our age in the neighborhood. Normally, she was definitely in charge. I didn't know she came from a long line of demon hunters. I also didn't know I lived on this fault that kind of blended the demon and human worlds.

I mean I had seen shadows and shapes, and even actual forms sometimes, but I always wrote it off as my imagination. Mine has always been active enough it was a believable excuse.

One day, she just sort of...died.

No one was certain how. The doctors said her heart failed.

Heart Failure. Isn't that how most of us die? It seemed empty.

It wasn't even a week later hat my best friend and I felt this rush of power, and suddenly those vague shapes were much more clear. But only when we were together. Clearly our imaginations were just too strong, right?

So what if we could now call up these shining balls of energy in our hands. Obviously, it was just pretend. People couldn't do that.

My inhabitant is right. We were little fools.

We didn't have our roles figured out yet when the attack came. A week was not nearly long enough to figure things like this out, not when you were seven. And I always was a protective, if precarious child. It was horrifying this blood covered face launching attack after attack at my friend and I. I defended her the best I could.

When we finally stood still, to make out stand, words began to tumble from our lips, and our hands formed these shapes I still don't understand. I think the words sounded like nonsense to both of us.

But whatever we did, it got rid of he scary face.

As we explored our new powers together, that was the last we thought of it.

Even though we had discovered a rift in our world located directly under my friend's home, and underneath the train bridge near my house, we blew that first attack off, thinking nothing of it as we learned to harness and attack with the strange holy magic.

It wasn't until I 'joined' some friends in trying to call a spirit to talk to them from the Otherworld, as the tender age of thirteen, that the reality of the attack set in. I fully intended on foiling this groups every move you see. After all, they didn't know, not really, what they dabbled in.

I lost an entire day of time that day as Karato too my body over for the first time. I was told later I grinned wickedly evilly, before dropping to the ground and convulsing. Immediately the girl's ran from the locker room we had commandeered for this ridiculous act and to the teacher who sent one of them to the nurse and sis what she could.

They couldn't do much of course. Demonic energy and holy energy were never meant to reside in the same body.

When I finally regains control of my body, my best friend was there, her hand on her wrist as she funneled divine energy into my body. My Guardian, a spirit I had engaged only a year prior to guard me in my nightmare plagued sleep, had successfully fought off the attack with my backing. And I had struck a deal with a demon.

I told my friend, whom I owed my life, of the deal I struck, trusting her to help me insure it was followed. I would have no choice but to keep my body in peak physical condition, something I did anyway. And I wold learn how to better use my holy powers, rather than simply brute forcing my way through battles. In return, my inhabitant would cease all attempts at holding my body.

Unfortunately, I would have to pay a steep price for this. My inhabitant was allowed to have complete control f my body for every week up to 48 hours total. If my inhabitant had any need of my body past this, as long as it didn't interrupt my education or training, she could certainly use my body as she saw fit.

Primarily however, the body would remain mine. My inhabitant would not be allowed to make any changes.

I only learned my inhabitant's name the summer before I went to college. Her 'brother,' apparently the youngest of a large amount of siblings, contact me. He would see to my combat training from now on, though I would continue to seek a tutor for my holy powers and learn how to use them.

My task in life is clear. I must rid our world of the demon menace.

But what happens when that menace starts become your friend?

I guess when you strike a deal with the devil, you learn the price far too late.

For awhile, Karato and I had separated bodies, thanks to a shady mage and the help of a friend. But we could never be too far apart, or it started to hurt. Physically.

It wouldn't matter. In time, we'd be taken in, taught to walk the planes. But after that, well. Planeswalking doesn't pay the bills, not really, and Karato and I, we got a job with MCU, as demon hunting contractors. And then disaster struck. Karato had always been rough and tumble, and a little violent. For her, if you weren't bleeding, the violence was in love. she wasn't human, we couldn't hold her to that standard. But MCU did. Karato went to jail. There, she was killed, supposedly by accident.

I was spirited away to the Fae Realms, my memories scrambled, and given the task of lady in waiting, of sorts, to a woman there. She returned, but I was left behind, though not on purpose. I spent fifteen years, in human time in the Fae realms before I was retrieved, unaging thanks to the magic there. It wouldn't be until months after I returned that a presence I had not felt in too long was there in the back of my head, stirring once more, though weak.

Karato. She was back, and it was the matter of minutes to form a plan. We would find out more about why she had been killed, and the only way to do that? Join MCU, the enemy, and do my best to work my way up the ranks. I don't know when I'll finally have access to the files to find out why, or who. But one day I will. Until then? At least my coworkers aren't bad people. Clueless about the dangers of the organization, but hey. It's a bit hard to believe anyone would just kill someone for no real reason.

So begins...

With politics came the rules of who could speak with whom, but it seemed for now that for most they had been largely forgotten or ignored in the face of all of the excitement of the first ball since the death of the king. And true to her word, Catherine did go looking for Alexander at the refreshment table and found him easily amused sharing stories with one of Tatianna's generals. 'Well, that takes care of that then I suppose.' She thought to herself as she reached for a glass of punch before heading back out towards the ballroom.

Molly was no where to be found, which suited her just fine, as the other needed to learn to get her feet under her in the courts without much help. Meanwhile, it appeared that Tatianna had busied herself talking with many of her ladies in waiting; having withdrawn to a corner of the ballroom near one of the windows in an attempt to catch a cool evening breeze. "Would you be so kind, Lady McBride?" One of the Lords said asking Catherine to dance. "Of course Lord Thasen, it would be my pleasure." She said nodding as she allowed herself to be lead out to dance.

The nerve of him. Molly stepped away from him and turned her back on him without saying a word, leaving him on the dance floor. It was a more measured response than what she would have liked, but her preference for brawling had been tempered greatly. Oh, she still wanted to punch the living daylights out of him, but she would not. The shame of having be abandoned on the dance floor ought to be enough.

The next dance began soon enough, and her escort reappeared, smiles and charm. She had yet to figure out how to approach another lady for a dance eloquently and so accepted the escort with a smile. She hadn't met the young lord on her arm before, but he had been well matched for her to be sure. Or at least, he was well matched if not for the unfortunate fact of his gender. Still, he led her out to a country dance this time, and she smiled prettily at him.

The dance would be interesting enough. "Thank you Lord Devon. I'm afraid my previous partner nearly ruined my eve."

"I can't have that, Lady Breckenridge. Not the night of your first ball." He said as they court got into position for the dance. He won a smile for his efforts.

The remainder of the night would likely have been a blur for many of the debutantes who danced the night away in the company of their friends and escorts. For many this would be their first time in adult society and the rules were very much so different than those that they previously knew, and a misunderstanding or two would be normal; but who had impressed persons enough to receive additional invitations was yet to be seen. There were still formal dinner parties, high teas, and perhaps another dance or two at a Duke's nearby country estate. Only the coming weeks would tell who had made the cut in society and who would likely be talked about with gleeful gossip in sitting and drawing rooms for months to come.

Meanwhile though, a tidily dressed footman delivered an wax sealed envelope to Molly's Aunt's residence not far from the palace. It had been sealed with dark green and gold wax with the McBride crest. It was vastly different than anything that came from Council, the Warden's offices, or even the fae queen herself; all had their own respective seals imbued with their own type of magic to prevent prying eyes. Delivering the envelope into the hands of the butler of the residence, who then set it aside on a silver tray for later examination by the mistress of the household who had yet to rise from bed after the last night's festivities.

It joined several others. Some were merely curious about the Breckenridge girl, who had conducted herself very well, but others had been thoroughly charmed. Her escort's family has included one, according tot eh crest on it at least. Molly had cheerfully peered at each of the crests before leaving it to her aunt and disappearing to practice a bit this morning.

She was back, clean, and dressed for the day, almost no sign of her sparring visible just as her aunt was roused and at the breakfast table. Molly took a seat politely and smiled to her aunt, wide awake to the other woman's disgust, no doubt. Her skin glowed, tone and bright, a side effect of a good work out, and there was the faintest hint of magic use about her, though only the truly sensitive would even note it.

"Good morning aunt." She greeted, all too cheerfully, filling her plate with a hearty breakfast, or as hearty a breakfast as she could get, given her aunt's preference for light foods. "Did you sleep well?"

The aunt glowered at Molly as she flopped into her seat and motioned for her tea to be poured. "Well I hope you enjoyed yourself last night." She said settling into her chair with a slight wiggle of her shoulders, which caused the collar of her wrapper laden with lace and ruffles to flap like a bird's feathers. "It's not often a child such as yourself is given the opportunity to be presented to the queen, and I'm surprised you behaved yourself given your father's pleas." She added as she picked up her tea cup daintily taking a sip before beginning to nibble on a buttered crumpet. "But yes, I slept well enough given the hour we returned." The woman finally answered.

If it weren't for the fact that Andreas were her only brother, she wouldn't have agreed to such utter nonsense, a bastard child fae or not had very little place in polite society. In her opinion, Andreas should have never laid claim to the girl and settled down with a sensible girl from a good family.

If the other didn't insist that they dined together, Molly would be sure never to see her aunt. "Yes, aunt. I enjoyed myself greatly." She really didn't like her aunt, and could see why her father delayed introducing them. No doubt the woman was yet another judgmental fae who thought that a bastard child should never have been claimed. She managed a smile though, watching her temper.

"And my father is merely well aware that he raised a warrior more than he did a proper lady and worries." It was sweet of him, but she was determined to prove that she could be a lady as well as a warrior. Catherine did it after all. Though Lady McBride would never have thought it, Andreas had used her all too often as an example to Molly, to encourage her to be more ladylike, even if she was determined to be a fighter.

"We seem to have received several invitations, at least."

The other woman offered a slight snort as she began to sort through the invitations. "Yes surprisingly." She commented as she set invitations and inquiries aside from other daily mail. Much to many person's astonishment, the fae world worked very much like their own in some places and in others it was very much so different. "Consider yourself a very lucky girl, it looks like quite a few are interested in you attending further events this season." She added examining the crest on one for a moment before setting it also aside.

Molly's aunt would likely chaperone many of the events, if only to give herself a chance to gossip with other ladies. At her age, there wasn't much dancing and not many men were interested in such an old maid; at least so her experience had been. Most found their matches when they were young, and didn't so much play around like much of the court did with their wide variety of relations and companions that changed on the weekly basis it seemed.

"Oohh! Oh my! What have you done Marguerite?!" The aunt began to squeal as she came to the letter with it's green and gold seal.

"So far? Went for a morning walk and eaten half an orange." She replied drolly. "Or where you speaking of Lady McBride's invitation?" She said, mirth dancing in her eyes. "Green and gold is the McBride color set, isn't it?" She well knew it was. The woman was enjoying this all too much. As if she hadn't seen the crest as well. Molly knew the house colors and crests for almost every noble family there was. This was no different.

"Didn't you know, aunt? Lady McBride and I met some time ago, when she was inspecting the border." Though that was just one meeting. They had known each other much longer than that. She wasn't about to tell her clueless aunt though. Her actual origins were very hush hush.

"R-right. Shutting up."
